O Diogo foi impecável desde ter tomado a iniciativa de enviar uma mensagem pelo WhatsApp a solicitar que lhe informe quando aterrar, o que fiz e ele já lá tinha um colega para nos receber quando chegamos. Serviço eficiente, profissional e muito simpático. Desde o contacto prévio ao atendimento e à devolução do carro. Oferecem shuttle gratuito tanto do aeroporto para o escritório como do escritório para o aeroporto. Colaboradores sérios e bem instruídos. 1- Após ter enviado n.voo e data prevista de chegada,recebi SMS com instruções pedindo para contactar após aterragem. 2- Após contacto telefónico, dirigi-me ao Park 5 e ao fim de 7 minutos chegou o Shuttle para me levar ao escritório. 3- Junto ao escritório já se encontrava o auto reservado. 4- Após 15 minutos ficou todo o processo concluído. 5- Avião aterrou às 15.35. Às 16.05 estava a conduzir rumo ao hotel. 6- Na entrega durou 5 minutos e seguidamente Shuttle levou-me ao Aeroporto. Estadia de 3 a 10 de Dezembro de 2024 na Ilha de São Miguel Melhor demonstração de profissionalismo e eficácia é difícil. Obrigado a todos os funcionários da Funchaldrive pela simpatia. Rui Madeira

We have had a very positive experience with the company for the second time. We can only recommend. As perhaps the only local car rental company, they will take you to and from the airport for free. Our tip for renting a vehicle is to pay for their premium package in advance. You dont even have to take a picture of the car when you take it over, and there are no complications when you return it.

Attention ! A FUIR ! Personne très sympathique à laccueil, Mais une fois le véhicule déposé, en dehors des heures douverture, vous apprenez, une fois rentré, que celui-ci a soit disant été abîmé. Ils vous trouvent une petite rayure sur le pare-chocs, et vous la facture 250 euros ! Jai pourtant des photos où je ne visualise pas cette rayure. Mais ils ne veulent rien savoir ! Il facture doffice ce forfait de 250 sans devis.

Sehr nette Mitarbeiter! Beim Abholen vom Flughafen mussten wir leider sehr lange auf den Shuttle warten. Aber bei der Abreise von der Station zum Flughafen war alles super! Da wir den Wagen eine Stunde vor der Öffnungszeit abholen mussten, wurden uns 35 Euro für berechnet, was ich dann für die paar Minuten etwas teuer finde. Unser Auto war super, jedoch kann ich empfehlen ein Auto mit mehr PS zu nehmen, da es bei manchen Bergen sonst echt schwierig wird.

Goede ervaring gehad. Auto ophalen en afleveren ging soepel en snel, auto zelf was in orde en meer dan voldoende. Na het afgeven van de auto heeft iemand van het bedrijf ons netjes afgezet bij ons hotel in Ponta Delgada.

Auto war sauber und fahrtüchtig (Seat Ibiza mit 25.000km, etliche Vorschäden). Anbieter ist ca. 10 Minuten vom Flughafen entfernt aber es wird ein Shuttle angeboten. Service war gut, Belege kommen Digital per E-Mail. Der Anbieter verlangt 35 Gebühr für Abgabe außerhalb der Öffnungszeiten, also achten Sie auf Ihre Reservierungszeit bei der Buchung (Kostenfalle, wird auch bei 15 Minuten in voller Höhe berechnet)

Wir hatten eine sehr angenehme Erfahrung - Flughafentransfer (5-10 min per shuttle), Auto Abholung und Abgabe sowie Papierkram waren sehr professionell und flott. Hatten aber auch keine Schäden oder Ähnliches zu klären. Gerne wieder!

El trato del personal muy bien, pero por otra parte la compañía no tan bien, para empezar no admitían tarjeta de débito para el depósito de 1500 tiene que ser de crédito y a nombre del conductor. La única solución que te dan es pagar el seguro a todo riesgo, que ya lo habíamos contratado, pero al no llevar la tarjeta de crédito física no podían realizar el depósito de la fianza. Si no contratas el seguro a todo riesgo, aseguraos muy bien de cada imperfección que tenga el coche antes de cogerlo, nosotros hicimos un vídeo aún teniendo el seguro a todo riesgo, y curiosamente había un golpe en el parachoques que no habían visto antes de dárnoslos y no tenían constancia de ello. Primero nos dieron un Kia, en teoría un coche mejor que el que habíamos contratado, bien, lo tuvimos que cambiar porque no iba la pantalla táctil y tampoco tenían constancia de esto. Ya que para moverse por la isla lo ideal es que funcione el gps. Luego nos dieron un Citroen C3 Air Cross, funcionaba muy bien aún teniendo en cuenta el testigo luminoso de avería que estaba constantemente encendida. Por último nos querían cobrar 35 por dejar el coche antes de tiempo, curiosamente el sistema no les permite hacerlo antes, por suerte íbamos con tiempo para coger el vuelo.

Rental car was in great condition, which is often not the case on Islands. Price was much cheaper (almost half) then airport rentals, but the shuttle wait was more than 15 minutes. The rental office is about 10 minutes from the airport. The entrance is a bit hidden, so pay attention when returning the car.

Reservamos un coche, nos vinieron a buscar y el coche perfecto. Pero a la hora de ir de vuelta al aeropuerto teníamos el contrato a las 6:30 y el chico se ha presentado a las 7,apurando mucho nuestro tiempo para llegar al vuelo y teniendo que pedir un taxi. Falta de comunicación

Muy buena experiencia con la compañía. Nos adjuntaron fotos tomadas por ellos de los daños que tenía el coche antes de nuestra reserva y eso nos tranquilizó bastante. Destacar la simpatía y preocupación de Federico con nosotros ya que nos facilitó mucho todo el proceso. Lo recomendamos al 100%!

Horrible! En primer lugar, nos dejaron esperando 1h en el aeropuerto para recogernos. Después,nos intentaron cobrar 200 mas de seguro a pesar de tener nosotros uno a todo riesgo sin franquicia contratado ya. Por otro lado, llenamos el depósito de combustible a la misma medida que nos lo entregaron y a la semana nos hicieron un cargo de 15 afirmando que faltaba combustible cuando nosotros estamos completamente seguros de la cantidad. Solo quieren sacarte el dinero y te causan mucha tensión y problemas para ello.

El servicio genial, trato del personal excelente sobre todo Erika, nos dieron un coche superior al contratado y fue todo magnifico tanto el dia de recogida como el de entrega. Recomendado 100%.

Nuestra experiència a sido nefasta y por el mismo motivo que otros usuarios. Alquilamos un coche hace cosa de un mes y elegimos un seguro premium. Al llegar a la oficina que esta retirada del aeropuerto. Me deniegan una targeta visa por tener ademas de mi nombre el de mi empresa. Me dice que no aceptan targetas de empresa.. El tema era que si conseguia que no dejaramos fianza teniamos que hacer otro seguro por 220 . Un atraco a mano armada vamos. Por suerte solo habiamos pagado 13 por adelantado y pude dejarle el coche alli y buscarnos la vida. Osea que mucho cuidado porque van a por el dinero y no son nada amables.

The staff is very friendly, we had no problems with the car, a practically new vehicle and delivered clean. They advised us to take comprehensive insurance since most of the streets on the island are very narrow and two vehicles have to pass through where barely one can fit.

De navigatie stuurde ons een kilometer van de verhuurlocatie vandaan. Toen we belde en aangaven dat we te voet waren zijn ze ons netjes komen halen. Goede en snelle service en zeer vriendelijk personeel. De auto was helemaal prima en we werden netjes en op tijd terug gebracht naar het vliegveld.

Sehr freundliches Personal. Shuttleservice vom und zum Flughafen hat super funktioniert. Alles sehr professionell. Bei Übernahme und Abgabe des Fahrzeugs bekommt man eine email mit sämtlichen relevanten Daten und die Abwicklung geht sehr schnell. Die Fahrzeuge werden sofort bei Abgabe gewaschen und sauber gemacht. Wir hatten auch auf Faial und Pico einen Miewagen über eine andere Firma angemietet. Hier waren die Fahrzeuge schmutzig und bei Rückgabe gab es keinerlei Bestätigung. Abwicklung dauerte ewig. 5 Sterne für Funchal Drive und volle Empfehlung.

During my stay on the island of São Miguel, I decided to use this car rental service. I made the reservation through the portal discovercars.com and paid for additional insurance myself. Regarding the car rental company, everything was fine. Upon arriving at the local airport, you call the number in the email, and the staff will pick you up at the airport and take you to the rental office along with your luggage. Afterward, you fill out the necessary documents for renting the car in their office. You need a passport or ID and a driver s license drivers under 24 should be prepared for a slightly higher price as they fall into the young driver category. Additionally, you need a CREDIT card (not a debit card) both the company Autounion and the website discovercars.com warn about this in advance. The payment for the car is made with the credit card, and a deposit is also blocked (in my case, 900). You then receive the contract via email and photos of the car via WhatsApp, showing the condition of the car and any potential damages. They let us inspect the car, and we took our own photos as well. We specifically rented a Citroen C3 with automatic transmission, and this car was absolutely sufficient and suitable for traveling on the island and its terrain. There are quite a few narrow roads on the island, especially in the towns, so I recommend choosing a similarly sized car. You ll appreciate the automatic transmission when driving uphill in hairpin turns and hilly terrain. When returning the car, everything went smoothly. The staff checked the car s condition and the fuel level, and then you sign a return form, which is immediately sent to your email. Afterward, they drive you back to the airport. The blocked deposit was returned to my account in about 5 days. Overall rating: Staff: 10/10 friendly, helpful, and explain everything Vehicle: 10/10 clean and new Price: 10/10 compared to other rental companies on the island, this one had reasonable prices Deposit return: 9/10 could have been faster, but everything was fine anyway

similar to others, we waited 45 mins to be picked up at the airport for our car, once we arrived we were told we had to buy the gold insurance (made our rental cost 2x) or go back to the airport as my husband credit cards and debt cards we not the right type and when I asked to change the rental to my name they said that wasnt an option. the car was not at all what we booked.. would never use them again.

Alquilé a traves de la aplicación VIP Cars un vehículo con esta empresa. Tal y como indican algunos usuarios, es OBLIGATORIO usar tarjeta de CRÉDITO, con límite suficiente para pagar no sólo el alquiler del vehículo, sino también la franquicia (en mi caso 310 + 1500 de franquicia). En mi caso particular, no tuve ningún problema con mi tarjeta de CRÉDITO ni con la empresa. Atentos, amables y meticulosos. Una vez devuelves el vehículo en las mismas condiciones que te lo entregaron, te liberan la franquicia. En mi caso, devolví el coche un domingo y la tenía de vuelta el martes por la mañana. Abstenerse alquilar sin tarjeta de crédito (débito o virtuales ¡NO SIRVEN!, así lo estipula el contrato con la plataforma con la que alquiléis). En ese caso, te darán la opción de un seguro a todo riesgo (será entre 200-400 más/semana, según el tipo de coche), pero podrás pagarlo con tarjeta DÉBITO. La recogida en el aeropuerto y regreso a la vuelta, sin incidentes. Todo perfecto. Recomiendo llamarles por teléfono a la llegada y en 10-15 minutos están en el aparcamiento 5. Repetiría, ya que fue muy económico. Recordad: llevad tarjeta de CRÉDITO del conductor principal con límite suficiente (ni débito, ni virtuales)

No recomiendo esta empresa en absoluto, son informales, te cobran sin avisar cantidades indebidas en la tarjeta de crédito, cuando no te quieren dar explicaciones directamente te obvian y no te contestan. La atención es lamentable, si tuviera que volver a alquiler nuevamente, con ellos ni gratis. Huid de esta empresa

Das Team ist nett und freundlich, ganzen Papierkram wurde in 5 min erledigt, Transfer von Flughafen Ponta Delgada zum Büro funktionierte auch reibungslos. PKW ( FIAT 500) war OK. Preise sind sehr freundlich, Kaution war übrigens nur 300 Euro! Sehr empfehlenswert.

Après la dépose de la voiture au parking de laéroport, japprends le lendemain (une fois rentrée) quon ma prélevée de 250 en plus, soit-disant pour un problème aux amortisseurs, sans aucune preuve, aucune facture, rien. Et bien entendu, plus moyen de les joindre pour avoir des explications, maintenant que je ne suis plus sur place ! Jai 250 dans la nature, aucune preuve de quoi que ce soit, et aucun moyen de les récupérer. Bref, une arnaque habituelle des loueurs de voiture, je vous les déconseille fortement, sauf si vous voulez être prélevé dun montant aléatoire additionnel à la fin de la location !!!!

Pésimo servicio. Hicimos una reserva con mucha antelación y al recoger el vehículo nos indicaron que la forma de pago con la que se había hecho la reserva no la aceptaban, por lo que estuvimos obligadas a pagar un seguro como única opción antes este problema. Además nos cobraron 35 euros por entregar el coche a las 20:00 de la tarde, horario en el que la oficina sigue estando abierta, pero nos indicaban que ya era hora de cierre. Jamás volveremos a contar con esta empresa y sus servicios.

Fatal, las ruedas del coche estaban tan gastadas que no tenían dibujo, y tuvimos un accidente por culpa de las ruedas. Por suerte teníamos el coche a todo riesgo pero cuando fuimos a cambiarlo nos dijeron que no nos daban otro que nos devolverían el dinero. A partir de ese día reclamé varias veces el dinero pero nunca me lo devolvieron. Lo cual resultó en unas vacaciones frustradas por culpa de una empresa a la cual le da igual estafar a sus clientes

Esta empresa es una estafa piramidal, recientemente alquilamos un vehículo con seguro a todo riesgo. Lamentablemente, sufrimos un accidente debido al deficiente estado del automóvil y al devolverlo para un cambio, nos aseguraron que tendríamos otro vehículo disponible. Sin embargo, al llegar a sus instalaciones, nos informaron que todos los vehículos estaban alquilados. Tras negociar, acordaron reembolsarnos el importe. Muy buena experiencia, nos vinieros a buscar al aeropuerto y nos llevaron de vuelta desde su local. Nos dieron un coche de gama superior por el mismo precio con el que pudimos recorrer toda la isla sin ningún problema. ¡Repetiriamos!

El seguro d fianza es de 2500 sino lo puede pagar el conductor con una tarjeta de crédito te hacen pagar su seguro d 375 . Contratamos un peugeot 2008 y nos dieron un citroen c3 con poca potencia que no subia las cuestas, y aqui hay bastantes. Ojo el seguro a td riesgo no cubre reventon d neumaticos y aqui las carreteras son bastante malas. La dirección para devolver el coche no es la que figura en el contrato, cuidado!! No recomiendo esta compañía de alquiler de coches.

We had a great experience with FunchalDrive. The staff is amazingly friendly, we had no issues with our car whatsoever. As far as I could see, main car park consists of Citroens. As what goes considering deposit and additional insurance complaints from other people - always, ALWAYS, in any country, at any car rental you will need a CREDIT card. No debit, no Maestro, no EC, but CREDIT. This should be common sense. And if you book (I booked, for example, via another service) a car without deductible but they still offer you the insurance for that it s not because of a scam attempt, no, they simply don t have that kind of information. It was stated on my check24 voucher, for example.

Excelent service, car and price. Owners are very friendly and we got a ride back to town after returning our vehicle. There are many rental companies on te island but definitely recommend this one. At a very late moment we decided we wanted the car delivered at our hotel. The owners made that possible.

Carte refusée alors quà la réservation, rien ne stipule un type de carte bancaire spécifique. Mieux, cest écrit visa acceptée. Obligé de souscrire une assurance tous risques à 200 euros. Bizarrement pour cela, la carte passe... A fuir ! Du vol organisé et un budget vacances fortement impacté !

Comme beaucoup ici 30 minutes de retard et aussi faites très attention à bien avoir une carte de CRÉDIT et pas de DÉBIT car sinon ça doublera votre prix vu que vous serait obligé de prendre l assurance complète en supplément.

Superamables, nos facilitaron todo, ampliamos allí el seguro a todo riesgo y sin problema.

Alquilamos un coche la semana pasada. Una vez que vas a recoger el vehículo te dicen que tiene que ser mediante una tarjeta de CRÉDITO (no debito) con 2500 de depósito y a nombre del conductor, sino te cobran un seguro de 159 . Lo hacen así porque saben que no todo el mundo cumple este requisito, vamos para cobrarte más. Y además 35 más por dejar el coche fuera de su horario de trabajo (el vuelo salía las 8). Más 30 de asistencia. Vamos que pagamos bastante más de lo reservado. Encima la empresa está lejos del aeropuerto con lo que no puedes cancelar y buscar en otra. Buscad otra empresa que sea clara. Nos sentimos engañados.

Scammers. When you reserve the car, they send you the final price but when you meet them they almost double the price because of golden insurence. If you dont take the golden insurence you cant rent a car and they offer you to drive you back to the airport. Stay away from this place

Alquilamos coche hace unas semanas y no admitían tarjeta de débito para el depósito de 1500 . Primero te dicen que no es posible tarjeta de débito, pero curiosamente a continuación te dicen que sí que la admiten si pagas su seguro por más de 30 /día. El seguro ya lo había pagado a través de la compañía de mediación. De 5 personas que estábamos alquilando en la oficina, 4 tuvimos el mismo problema. Todavía nos querían cobrar por exceder el horario de la oficina cuando todo el tiempo que perdimos todos los clientes tuvo que ver con esta lamentable incidencia. Una tomadura de pelo en toda regla.

For a start he tells you he is your best friend and then he tries to sell everything, but doesnt really have time for explanations. Wir hatten zu zweit 4 Tage lang einen Fiat Punto gemietet mit Versicherung. Da es keinen mehr gab haben wir ein Upgrade auf einen Seat Leon bekommen. Neues Auto und komplett unkompliziert. Am Flughafen angekommen haben wir die angegebene Nummer angerufen, innerhalb 10-15 Minuten haben sie uns abgeholt. Schnell den Vertrag unterschrieben und das Auto gut angeschaut. Abgabe verlief einfach und schnell ohne Probleme. Schlussendlich auch Rücktransport zum Flughafen. Klare Weiterempfehlung!

CUIDADO!!! Esta empresa en Internet está camuflada con el nombre de AUTO UNION para que no puedas encontrarla y ver las malas reseñas. Hemos realizado la reserva a través de la pagina CarJet, contratando un seguro ajeno porque sale MUCHO más barato. Cuando llegamos al aeropuerto no había nadie esperándonos y hemos tenido que buscar el número para llamarles y esperar unos 20 minutos. Y aquí comienza la jugada. Una vez que llegamos a la oficina (en una calle apartada y sin salida de una especie de polígono industrial), nos vienen con el cuento de que o les pagamos casi 300 por un seguro a todo riesgo con ellos, o necesitamos una tarjeta de crédito FÍSICA y a nuestro nombre para poder darnos el vehículo. Como hemos llamado a Carjet y no nos han respondido, hemos pasado por el aro y les hemos pagado el seguro a ellos también. Como detalle sin importancia pero que también suma, decir que en internet ponen que te dan un VW T-Cross o similar, pero es que de ese modelo NO TIENEN NI UNO! Nos dieron un Peugeot 2008. Al final la reserva nos salió en unos 550 por 6 días.

Veníamos de España previamente con la reserva HECHA EN AUTO UNION a través de la pàgina de Carjet con un seguro aparte. Llegamos, nos dicen que para pagar tenemos que tener tarjeta de crédito si no, ese seguro que contratamos en Carjet no sirve de nada y que tenemos que contratar un seguro a todo riesgo con ellos,como NO teníamos tarjeta de crédito hemos tenido que pasar por el aro y pagar el seguro con ellos. No había otra manera sin tener tarjeta de crédito según ellos( Y NO, TAMPOCO SIRVE QUE LA TENGAS EN EL MÓVIL) ahora sí, para pagar el dineral al contratar con ellos el seguro, eso si.

ACHTUNG!!!Wir haben uns für eine Woche ein Mietauto über VIP Cars gebucht und die Gebühr per KREDITKARTE bezahlt. Bei Abholung erzählte uns die Dame, dass es bei der Kreditkarte (die in jedem anderen Land/Laden/Restaurants etc. bisher immer funktioniert hat) um eine Debitkarte handelt und wir stattdessen eine Versicherung abschließen müssen. Da ohne Kreditkarte die Kaution von 1700 für einen Renault Clio(!!) nicht hinterlegt werden könnte. Die Höhe der Versicherung betrug für 7 Tage 263 Euro und die Leihgebühr fürs Auto (über VIP Cars Preis gebucht, noch nicht gezahlt) 190 Euro. In den Rezessionen ist uns dies bereits aufgefallen und wollten auch uns eine Versicherung aufs Auge aufdrücken. Klingt für uns eher nach einer Masche. Wir haben das Auto NICHT genommen.

Una auténtica estafa!! Te bloquean una fianza por importe de 1700 sino contratas su seguro que cuesta 36 /día ( más que el alquiler del vehículo). El avión se retrasó te cobran 35 /h por tanto aunque pongas el número de vuelo no sirve porque el coste se aplica igual. A los 3 días la rueda apareció semi pinchada por la mañana la llevamos al punto de recogida para evitar daños en la llantas y demás; nos dieron otro coche pero a la hora de devolverlo nos cobraron 50 que no justificaron de ninguna manera. Cobro que pagamos dado que se retrasaron en llevarnos al aeropuerto y llegamos tarde al avión. No te dejan pagar con tarjeta de débito ninguno de la infinididad de cobros que te aplican. No te dejan pagar con la tarjeta de débito por no contratar el seguro con ellos ( nosotros lo habíamos contratado por 72 pago único con CAR JET). Por motivos laborales he alquilado y sigo alquilando vehículos y no he encontrado ninguna empresa que tenga esta mala práctica. Un auténtica ESTAFA.

Be aware of this scam rental company, they drive you away from the airport (around 3km inside Acores) and force you to make ridiculous gold insurances you don t need that costs you more than the rent it self or walk back to the airport with your luggage without refund of the money you already paid and without the car... While I was waiting one person appeared with a licence plate out of the car and another person was calling with a broken car Avoid at all cost it will ruin your happy days in beautiful Acores! My car had no brakes in the front and they did not provide me a ride back to the airport... Avoid this company even if it costs you much more...

Buen coche, peugot 208, con algunas funciones divertidas como clavijas analogicas para funciones rapidas. Servicio de transporte al aeropuerto con furgoneta para la recogida y al dejar el coche. El conductor era muy simpático. Nos obligaron a pagar extras del seguro a todo riesgo porque nos no aceptaron la tarjeta de credito del conductor (a pesar de que tenía credito de sobras, no sabemos la causa del fallo, pq tampoco nos mostraron la pantalla) y se negaron a aceptar la tarjeta de otra persona. Si no fuera por este sobrecoste todo bien. Leyendo otras reseñas, ¿Quizas es que el datafono les falla a una de cada 3 personas para poder cobrar el seguro a todo riesgo?

Rented a car for a week long trip in the Azores and everything was great. A note for anyone renting in the future, you will need your credit card PIN number in order to complete the payment upon arrival. A special shoutout to the staff who helped us and were very patient as we had to find said PIN and also for getting us to the airport on time. Erica was super helpful with the return of the car. Lamentable. Un secuestro. Esperamos en el aeropuerto a que nos recogieran y a los 40min no apareció nadie. Llamamos y dijeron que estarían allí en 10min. Tardaron 35min. Su datáfono no aceptaba nuestra tarjeta de crédito de EVO a pesar de que contactamos con el banco y nos dijeron que no había problema. Ofrecimos 5 tarjetas de debito como alternativa pero decían que el datáfono solo permitía Crédito. Como no funcionaba el datáfono con la tarjeta de crédito para retener la franquicia, nos obligaron a contratar un seguro a todo riesgo de 150 , a pesar de que ya habíamos contratado el paquete relax con cobertura total de la franquicia. Se desentienden de este hecho diciendo que es cosa de Discovery Cars, que solo aceptan que contratemos su seguro que triplica el precio del alquiler del vehículo. (89 precio inicial con seguro. A todo riesgo +150 de su seguro que te obligan a pagar por no funcionar sus datáfonos). Lo más irónico de todo es que para cobrarte el seguro de 150 si que aceptan tarjetas de débito. Después de dos horas secuestrados, teniendo que llamar nosotros a Discovery Cars (que ofrecía alternativas por un precio mayor que el del seguro de 150 ) y son posibilidad de volver al aeropuerto a consultar a otras compañías porque la oficina de Funchal está en medio de la nada, nos terminaron dando un coche que tenia la pantalla rota y marcaba números aleatorios si conectabas el bluetooth. Acabamos poniendo una reclamación. Cero recomendable! Merece la pena contratar con Ilha Verde que no puso ningún problema cuando lo contratamos en Pico.

This place is a scam. I got a price for 100 EUR on a car and had confirmation that I could pay it upon arrival with my Visa card. On arrival I was charged 289 EUR with the vage excuse that I couldnt use my Visa card... I payed the deposit before leaving at home on the same card. I wouldnt recommend this car rental to anyone.

Very poor check in, but good check out. Overall poor, but no where near as poor as I first experienced on check in. Check in: I arrived there having booked an SUV rental via Discover Cars. They told me all they could give me was a hatchback. They refused to give me a discount, despite not being able to deliver the car quality/category that I had ordered. Poor that they cant deliver on what they have agreed to. Also despite having full coverage with Discover Cars, they required a eur 2k deposit. When I asked if this deposit was just blocked or actually charged, the young thin man confidently repeated charged, which of course was worse for me, as it meant that I would face FX charges in and out (when refunded). In reality, he was wrong, and it was just blocked, which was better for me, but a waste of 5 mins trying to get clarity from him, that ended up being wrong anyway. Check out: Following a bumper scratch, they dealt with it relatively quickly and efficiently, giving me all of the documents that I needed to submit to Discover Cars. They also only charged DiscoverCars a reasonable EUR 292 for the scratch, which seemed good of them. Erica was VERY good in dealing with this situation, both on the phone and in person.

Scammers The cars they have online do not coincide with the ones they have on the lot. They require you to do their insurance (even if you already have insurance from the website) and their insurance can be more than triple what you already paid on the website. They take you to their lot, far from everything, and the only option you have is to pay or walk back to the airport (1 hour away) The guy at the desk had no intention of being helpful and only said you pay or you leave. Read the other reviews to see that it was not an isolated case. The only way it gets 5 starts is if you are friends with the owner or payed to do so. It would be the cheapest in the island IF THE CARS EVEN EXISTED Its a scam. Do not fall for it. Take your business elsewhere

Mismo engaño que a otros españoles. Un seguro que pasa de 90 a 278 por 5 días porque la tarjeta no es válida y tienes que sacar seguro a todo riesgo. Esto te lo dicen cuando estás en su oficina situada en un polígono industrial y alejada de la ciudad.

De antemano teníamos contratado un coche con la empresa Discovery Cars con un seguro completo. Al llegar a la sede local de funchaldrive NO aceptaron nuestra tarjeta de crédito en ninguno de sus datáfonos (y tenía dinero de sobra). Pensamos que fue culpa nuestra que teníamos algo mal en la tarjeta de crédito pero hemos visto muchísimos comentarios de gente que le ha pasado los mismo. Después, al no ver otra alternativa tuvimos que coger un seguro a todo riesgo (350 ) que nos ofrecian para poder llevarnos el coche. Resto bien (nos llevaron y recogieron del aeropuerto rápido). El depósito de gasolina lo entregan con la mitad y nosotros lo devolvemos con la mitad sin problema.

Muy contentos con el servicio. Alquilamos un Citroen C3 crossover, perfecto para moverse por la isla por la altura. El coche era prácticamente nuevo y en muy buen estado. Además, tienen servicio de recogida en el aeropuerto. En nuestro caso, dejamos el coche y seguimos unos días en la isla. Dejamos el coche en sus instalaciones y nos llevaron al hotel. Muy buen servicio!

Supongo que el resto de reseñas positivas son de familiares y amigos...yo voy a contaros mi experiencia. 1) Te dicen que te traen y te llevan del aeropuerto muy rápidamente con una shuttle. Primera mentira. Tras esperar casi una hora y tener que llamar varias veces conseguimos que nos recogieran. Y ojo, te llevan a un sitio completamente apartado. Aquí comienza una parte del secuestro 2) teníamos contratado un coche y con un seguro completo. Según dicen, solo aceptan tarjetas de crédito, pero tampoco. La nuestra no la aceptaban en ninguno de sus datafonos (vaya por delante que tenía fondos y todo funcionaba correctamente. Lo chequeamos en directo con el banco) 3) llegados a este punto, como no te pueden bloquear la franquicia (absurdo porque en teoría el seguro era todo riesgo, pero te cuentan historias de que el seguro no es de ellos y tal...), te exigen un seguro suyo que vale, literalmente, 3 veces más que el alquiler completo. 4) Llegados a este punto, y tras recordar que estás en la nada, no puedes moverte a otra agencia y chequear rápidamente su disponibilidad, todo te va a suponer el sobre coste del taxi, etc, pasamos por el aro. 5) el coche que nos han dado ni siquiera funciona bien. La pantalla para poner el Bluetooth o el GPS no va... PS: ya voy preparado para cuando tengamos que devolverlo ... Es una forma muy sutil de extorsión. Nada recomendable.

My personal experience with the car rental agency was bad. I booked a rental far in advance , according to the instructions from the company they were supposed to pick me up at the airport at 8 am. I happened to arrive 25 minutes earlier. I tried calling them that arrived early but no one was picking up so I texted on Whatsapp. I provided my name and the booking number. The pick up arrived at 8:25 am. The woman did not apologize and was not very friendly. We were driven to the office and I had to wait in the line to get the car but once they saw my name they told me that they do not have a car for me. I booked an automatic car and they have only two, one was currently used and another one was hit yesterday. Ok, I understand, but I provided my name early in the morning and the young man told me that everyone knew about it. So why they could not tell it to me right away ? No alternative was offered. I had to wait again until the shuttle returned to the office and then they drove us back to the airport. My entire day was lost because of it since I had to look for another rental and make arrangements on the spot. I feel like it was very unprofessional.

Todo genial, nos vinieron a recoger al aeropuerto y aunque nuestro avión llegó con una hora de retraso no pusieron problema, el coche estaba perfecto, Te explican todo estupendamente y te van enviando la documentación al instante, la devolución del coche con total facilidad aunque nuestro avión salía muy pronto. A los 3 días ya tenía el dinero de la fianza desbloqueado del banco. Muy recomendable.

A simpatia do funcionário não é tudo. Primeiro bloqueou-nos o valor da caução no cartão. Depois leu o contrato. Como não queriamos seguro com eles, então funciona assim. Se nós batermos , descontam o valor da conta (ok), se nos baterem também (o quê???). Ou seja. Arranjam o carro, paga a outra seguradora, e retiram valor da caução deixada. E acreditem que não estou a enganar ninguém, leiam outras críticas e vejam por vocês. Tivermos que fazer o seguro, porque o carro era razoável, mas tinha batidas e riscos que cobriam o carro todo. Só o capô, parecia que tinha o jogo do galo. Saímos de lá e o rapaz disse Agora já podem estar á vontade, que já não pagam nada Se acham que é do funcionário, enganem-se. O superior dele estava lá e não abriu a boca. Nem se chegou perto. Estou curiosa em saber para que é que nos bloqueou a franquia, se fizemos o seguro devido ao facto do carro estar batido e completamente riscado. E ainda não recebi o dinheiro.

We zijn zeer tevreden over het huren van de auto. We kregen een zo goed als nieuwe auto. Toen we aankwamen op het vliegveld werden we binnen 5 minuten opgehaald en was het allemaal snel en goed geregeld. Nadat we de auto hebben ingeleverd heeft Jaime ons teruggebracht naar ons hotel in de stad. Aardige jongens met een uitstekende service!

El trato estupendo por parte del personal, servicio rápido con los trámites, buen precio, con seguro todo riesgo y un conductor adicional. Nos dieron un coche, de un segmento superior al que habíamos reservado de antemano y totalmente nuevo, con 300km . Tienes que llamar por teléfono, para que te vengan a buscar al aeropuerto, en cuanto estés en la terminal. Tardan 5 minutos. Al pillar seguro a todo riesgo, no tienes que pagar depósito, además de que la entrega es rápida puesto que cualquier daño está cubierto.

We rented a car twice and we always got a brand new car for a good price. They saved us when our flight was cancelled and no cars were available at the airport. All employees are kind. Also great shuttle service, only 10 minutes waiting at the airport.

Antes de venir a Azores, visitamos muchas paginas de alquiler de coches y nos daba mucha desconfianza las bajas reseñas de la mayoria de compañias aparte de los elevadisimos precios. De casualidad dimos con Funchal y decidimos alquilar. Aparte del buen trato que recibimos por parte de su personal nos alquilaron un Peugeot 2008 a un precio super razonable. El coche estaba nuevo y se hizo muy comodo de conducir. A la entrega fueron de nuevo muy amables. 100% recomendados.

Rigtig godt sted! Vi kunne desværre ikke betale med debit, da vi kom derhen, så vi var nødt til at købe en lidt dyrere aftale, hvor vi havde forsikring med. Dette blev dog kompenseret ved en opgradering af bilen, og den var virkelig lækker og fantastisk at køre i. Helt ren, ny, med ekstraudstyr og vi kunne køre derfra inden for 10 minutter efter ankomst - kan virkelig anbefales! De henter og bringer også fra lufthavnen!

Be careful! They try and trick you into buying their extra insurance for 27 a day. I was covered by DiscoverCars so not needed! Returned the car to a parking lot like agreed, so no check of the car with me present. Later I was charged with damage that I did not see. They refuse to send me proof/ a picture.

Tout sest bien passé. La voiture était neuve. On a pu louer le véhicule sans payer la caution, on a pris une assurance supplémentaire. Sinon, les jeunes qui dirigent lagence sont adorables. Ils viennent vous chercher à laéroport et vous y reconduisent à la fin du séjour.

These guys are great. The car was clean and no problems. We got an automatic and I recommend it for town driving especially parking unless you are an expert manual driver. No worries renting from here.

Nos dieron un coche de una categoría superior al que habíamos contratado. Trato genial. Te ofrecen un seguro a todo riesgo por 26,50 al día y te despreocupas de pagar fianza, cosa que se agradece para conducir por las angostas calles de San Miguel. Muy recomendable!

I ve rented lots of cars from lots of companies. That being said, one of my all time GREAT experiences was renting from Funchal and their EXCELLENT salesperson, Jaime. If you have the need for a car on Sao Miguel, go see Funchal! Jaime put us in a beautiful Peugeot and off we went. He gave us FANTASTIC restaurants to go to and, in general, was/is the BEST! Trop loin de laéroport, problèmes de pickup et manque dinformation lors de la réservation sur internet concernant le dépôt de garantie ! Jai réservé 8 jours de location de voiture chez FunchalDrive, via VIP Cars sur internet. Sur le bon de réservation, il est indiqué que quelquun serait présent à laéroport (an identified company member will receive you). Aucun guichet, aucun panneau et personne de présent. Les autres compagnies de location ne connaissaient même pas cette marque de location de voiture... Jai du appeler pour que quelquun vienne nous chercher. Il devait arriver en 5 mns, mais finalement nous avons encore attendu plus de 20 mns quil arrive. Jaurais aimé quon me précise quil fallait appeler dès notre arrivée. Nous avons réservé un siège bébé pour mon fils de 18 mois, la personne qui est venu nous chercher à laéroport avait une petite voiture citadine sans siège bébé pour aller au centre de location. Cétait dangereux ! Aussi, il a été compliqué de mettre nos bagages dans ce véhicule... Au final, nous avons attendu plus dune heure à laéroport. Ensuite, le loueur mindique que ma carte de crédit nest pas une carte de CREDIT mais une carte de DEBIT, donc il ne peut pas fait le dépôt de garantie. Cela nest indiqué nulle part sur le bon de réservation, il est simplement écrit : A valid Credit Card must be presented at the time of rental pick up. La seule solution est de prendre leur assurance (Service Gold Complete) qui évite de payer ce dépôt de garantie. Javais souscris une assurance Rentalcovers.com via VIP Cars lors de ma réservation, mais le loueur ne voulait pas comprendre et ma forcé à prendre sa propre assurance. Pour le retour, mon vol était à 9h40, je devais être à laéroport 2h avant le vol (soit 7h40). Lagence nouvre quà 8h donc jai du payer encore un supplément pour quils soient présents et quils me ramènent à laéroport. La location ma coûté 2 fois plus que prévu.

Great service. Hilio for check in and Rafael for check out were very friendly and helpful. :) The car was clean and ready to go. We had an almost new Seat Ibiza (under 4000 km done with it) for 5 days and we did around 600 km with no issues - it helps that gas prices on the island are cheaper than on the mainland. It would have helped to have the tank policy full to full - its easier to manage by the renter. Also it took a while for the confirmation of the rental contract ending, but it was solved quickly with a phone call. Recommend to use the service, Thank you

Be careful before booking! We got stuck having to pay an extra 250 euros for their company s insurance (2x the rental cost) because my fiancé didn t have a physical Visa or Mastercard credit card (we had Discover, Amex, and tap to pay Visa). I had a physical Visa also, but because the reservation was under my fiancés name, they wouldn t let me pay or add me to the policy, and if we tried to cancel and rebook it under my name, they said they couldn t give us a car. All other car companies were booked so we had no other option. Awful policy, I would never rent here again.

I am deeply frustrated and disappointed with FunchalDrive Rent a Car, which I accessed through Discovery Cars. From the beginning to the end of my experience, the companys practices have raised significant concerns regarding their integrity and professionalism. To elaborate: 1. There was an unwarranted and aggressive attempt by FunchalDrive Rent a Car to upsell additional insurance, a tactic that appeared more opportunistic than genuine customer service. 2. Due to an early flight, and since they were not open at that hour, we were charged an extra 40 to leave the car at the airport. This not only added to our costs but also provided them with an undue opportunity to claim damages without immediate verification. 3. Despite taking meticulous photographs that documented the cars initial state, capturing any pre-existing damage, I was shocked to find a deduction of 600 a week later for alleged minor scratches inside the car. These scratches, which had no connection to our use of the vehicle, were clearly used as a pretext to charge us fraudulently. 4. Our investigation on Google Reviews revealed we are not an anomaly. Many customers have shared similarly troubling tales of deceit involving FunchalDrive Rent a Car. I want to make it clear: we are actively collaborating with other victims of this apparent fraud, gathering evidence of these dishonest business practices. Our intent is to report FunchalDrive Rent a Car to local authorities for their actions. Furthermore, we are strongly urging Discovery Cars to reconsider their association with FunchalDrive Rent a Car and delist them from their platform. Its evident from our experience and that of many others that FunchalDrive Rent a Car is not a trustworthy car rental provider. In the face of such deception, I deem it my duty, especially as a Google Guide, to caution future customers. I expect swift and appropriate action to rectify this situation. The evidence is clear, and Ill ensure potential customers are informed of this blatant misconduct.

Compañia nueva en la Isla con precios muy caros respecto otras compañias locales. Teniamos una reserva hecha con un pago anticipado y nos dijeron que teniamos que contrarar un seguro a todo riesgo por no aceptar la tarjeta de crédito tipo contact less del mobil ni efectivo para el pago de la franquícia. No nos dejaron cambiar el nombre del titular al segundo conductor, que tenía tarjeta de crédito física y al final optamos por no cancelar la reserva. Estoy a la espera de que me devuelvan el pago por anticipado del 20% que según ellos no era un anticipo sinó una cantidad extra para guardarnos el coche. Recomiendo ir a compañias dentro del pueblo que tienen mejores precios, menos de la mitad, y no piden franquicia.

Avoid this company. First when you arrive you have to wait 20 minutes to a shuttle, they pick you up and others so you travel 10 minutes in a fully crowded van to their office. They so committed to pay your deposit via credit card and not debit card (so they can charge you however they want after return as you can see in other reviews). They try to upsell you a 20 daily high priced insurance of theirs for 9 days. It made the price so high we couldn t afford it and honestly they were so unhelpful, we didn t want to pay them anything. We asked a ride back to the airport but they refused so you stuck at their office with luggages 1h walk from the airport. They also lied about the need of having credit card to rent a car on the island ( there s plenty of other options for example book it on booking and you can pay by debit card). Seeing the other reviews they are just rats trying to rip off tourists. Good job making a bad name for São Miguel.

Hola a todos, mucho cuidado!! no alquilar vehículo con esta empresa, estoy con Fran unos timadores, ahora contestara el propietario con muy buenas palabras... Si no contratáis el seguro a todo riesgo con ellos aprovecharan para, cobrar cualquier cosa, adjunto imagen de un supuesto arañazo del que me cobraron 287.5 euros... lo marco en rojo para que se vea. Ánimos ha todos los afectados como Fran! no voy a contestar la replica del propietario, valorad vosotros mismos con la imagen...

Good prices, many French cars, friendly but ineffective staff, no hassle until only after return of the car. Staff say that release of the deposit can take several days because of the bank, which is not true. It can be as fast as when they block the deposit. When I called them on the phone after a week it became clear that the deposit should be released by some backoffice, which can take several days. This backoffice can only be reached through a contact form on the website, but you never get a response. Good thing that a deposit has a maximum duration of a month, so the credit card company released it in the end. So insist to get your deposit back immediately, dont accept any its the bank excuses, or simply rent somewhere else.

Excelente serviço. Foram buscar-nos ao aeroporto e, no dia da entrega do carro, mesmo não sendo o dia de viagem de regresso, disponibilizaram-se a levar-nos a Ponta Delgada. O carro era excelente e são os que têm os melhores preços de Ponta Delgada (mesmo com a taxa de franquia zero chegam a ser menos de 100 euros mais baratos)

What an experience!! After a lot of searching I decided to go with a local agency from Madeira, since I lived there, if I had any problem it was easy to fix. When I saw their prices, they convinced me. Amazing prince, the workers are very kind and friendly, all of them helped a lot even by phone. They also have a full coverage no need to put the credit card down or a deposit. I mean it really was the BEST option. We paid less than 300 for 6 days, with full coverage, baby seat, extra driver and a few more things. Just wow!!

Jamie was wonderful. He upgraded us for free. Great service, very courteous but the scam came later when we dropped off the car. They charged my Credit Card 750 EUR for damages when there wasnt any damages. Luckily the company I booked with, Discover Cars, reimbursed me for the charge. Make sure you take full pictures when you return the car and keep all of your contract and checkin and checkout paper. As you read other reviews, you will see they have done it to many other people. I requested pictures of damages and they did not respond to me. Scammers scammers scammers
