We had an overall good experience renting a car here. Car was relatively new and generally well maintained apart from one tire losing pressure. Note that if you don’t take extra insurance the credit card deposit can be quite high (ours was €3900), make sure your card can handle that or you’ll be forced to take an insurance which is more expensive than the car rental itself, to reduce the deposit.
Carolina and the entire crew was amazing , don't believe the comments here, super easy to rent , extremely easy to return , fair and professional. I've been in many car rentals in Europe and got scammed, here they are fair it was such an amazing experience and much needed for my trip. Fair price and easy return.
We read reviews when we were due to return the car, and feel relieved that it was easy and smooth. Reviews prompted us to clean up the interior, and upon return Carolina took photos quickly to and drove us to the airport. She was friendly and efficient, and we had no trouble at all. I'd recommend calling them as soon as you arrive at the airport as otherwise you might have to wait.
Great experience with this rental service. Being a frequent car rental user all over the world, this location is filled with honest, caring and helpful individuals. We rented a manual car and had no issues. We had a brand new Ford Puma that was amazing on gas. I would recommend taking videos and pictures of the vehicle prior to driving off the lot so you can confirm any previous scratches/ dents, as unfortunately it’s common to have a car with previous damage that you don’t want to be reliable for. The airport shuttle service was efficient to and from the airport. Just the pick up location at PDL airport wasn’t clear (go under the big blue canopy outside the main doors). Shuttle is usually every 15min. ~Would rent again from them!
Staff is friendly. The car was clean. The car lacked the power we thought we needed, but we still made it up those big craters ;) We had the rental for two days and spent about 35Eur in gas.
Horrible experience and terrible customer service. Their only automatic car rentals are electric. I was nervous about charging these, as I have no experience, and even called in advance of the trip to confirm that charging on the island is not a problem. Upon receiving the car, I was only instructed to download an app (miia) to locate charging stations. I was NOT informed that the charging stations require a physical card, which seemingly is received by mail. When I called the office to explain my problem at the charging station, no one was able to give me usable instructions. It took a lot of work to get the pertinent info on the car from the office, and I was finally able to connect my credit card to the app and prepaid 20euros, but the charging stations (two different ones) would not accept the connection (slightly different error messages at each station). After spending hours on hold and getting only basic unhelpful instructions to use the app, we were only offered to have the car towed, and to be taxid back to 45 min to the airport to receive a new car for our remaining day and a half. Outside of that they told us to call the app since it wasn’t their problem. (App doesn’t have a phone number and it’s separate from the charging stations.) We had already lost so much time that we just let the car be towed and took taxis for our remaining day and a half. We can’t figure out why 1) staff aren’t better trained to troubleshoot charging station issues, a key aspect of renting an electric car or 2) why they didn’t just provide a miia card to simplify the process for rental customers. why rent a car and take no responsibility for getting it to work? I have requested a refund by writing, which is the only way to resolve a dispute. Phone calls for issues like this are not accepted. All told, we lost 8 hours dealing with this problem, which ruined 2 of our 4 days on the island.
I had Fiat Panda for two weeks. I love Pandas and they are the best car for driving on small islands. The price was very good. Pickup at the airport was very fast even though it was after midnight. The car was fairly new. Procedures fairly fast. 1080 EUR deposit for a car the size of Panda is high but not unheard of. Staff friendly. I was scared by other reviews. Luckily, I had no problems at all. I did not create any damage to the car, returned fully full, and had no hassle. Also, I did not clean the car before returning. That is nonsense. Nobody mentioned that I should have cleaned the car. The service was good, and the value for money was excellent.
HORRIBLE service at this drive on holidays location. My friend and I rented a SUV for 3 days (with full Insurnace coverage) for $1200. We brought the vehicle back in mint condition. Upon the return we were told they will be charging us a cleaning fee due to the dust that was on the mats and a tiny bit of light dirt on the inside of door. We dealt with Daviud who repeatedly kept saying the car was given to us without any dust inside and therefore they have to charge us. I found this quite ridiculous because the car was not dirty at all. Yes it had a few dust particles from our shoes but that was normal wear and tear from coming in and out of the vehicle. In addition they didn’t provide plastic mats to protect the car, everything was cloth so dust is more likely to get trapped. I was appalled at the fact that they wanted to charge us extra money for this. Everyone knows a good car rental company sanitizes and vacuums their rentals before re-renting to the next customer (especially post covid). I pulled out some sanitizing wipes I had in my purse and wiped the light dirt off. I then shook out the mats myself to get ride of the small amount of sand that was in the car. Unfortunately I was forced to argue and raise my voice with this company (mainly Daviud) in order to be heard. After much back and fourth and a lot of energy extracted on my part, not to mention time wasted on both of our ends, Daviud finally agreed to not charge us. Secondly, we returned the tank slightly under the full mark and they wanted to charge us $50 euros when the gas tank was missing $5 euros of gas. We ended up driving 10 mins to the nearest gas station to fill the tank ourselves to avoid the fee. Sao Miguel was a beautiful and peaceful island, it was unfortunate that my last memory there was spent arguing with this rental company. That’s definitely not how I pictured ending my vacation I DO NOT recommend renting from them. They don’t care about good customer service and will try and scam you in every way possible. I was fine filling up the gas but being charged a fee for small dirt particles that come from a person going in and out of the car is ridiculous. The staff here (especially Daviud) have no experience in the car rental industry and it shows. Hopefully they invest in some training protocols otherwise I don’t see them going very far in this business I suggest planning your trip ahead of time and renting from other companies AVOID this place at all costs.

Excelente atendimento. Funcionários super simpáticos e prestativos. Embora esteja um pouco afastado do aeroporto, vão recolher os clientes e levar ao aeroporto num transfer. Super. Adorei a experiência e super recomendo.

Horrible customer service. Key battery was failing and impossible to start the car without the key battery (bad design by Citroen). They were unhelpful and told us to find a key shop on the island and were more concerned with expense and tax ID documentation than they were about our welfare. Would not send a support crew to help either.

Staff went out of their way to help us when we had to book an emergency flight home. We returned with the rental two days early and a staff member stayed after hours and got us to the airport with plenty of time.

Pronajali jsme si na týden Fiata 500 jako na ka dé dovolené a tohle auto, pro pohyb na ostrov a hlavn v úzkých uli kách Ponte Delgada doporu uji Dále musím vyzdvihnout profesionální a p átelsky p istup pánu Goncalo a Miguel. Kte í nám odvezli na leti t a z leti t bez ekání. P evzetí auta a také navrácení byla otázka n kolika málo minut.
Unser Fahrzug war in Ordnung, der Preis war gut, ABER alles andere war nichts. Der Shuttle vom Flughafen zur Vermietstation war katastrophal. Zunächst war unklar, wo wir abgeholt werden. Es ist nichts beschildert und alle anderen Anbieter haben einen gemeinsamen, anderen Treffpunkt. Am Movista-Treffpunkt warteten mehrere Paare und Familien, dennoch wurde EIN PKW (!) für den Transfer eingesetzt. Es dauerte über eine Stunde, bis wir endlich an der Station waren und weitere 25 Minuten für Vertrag und Fahrzeugübergabe. Für die Rücknahme wurde uns versichert, es sei immer jemand anwesend und es dauere nur 5 Minuten. Tatsächlich standen wir morgens mit zwei weiteren Paaren 10 Minuten vor verschlossenem Tor. Die junge Dame, die dann kam, musste also 3 Fahrzeuge zurücknehmen und war auch für den Shuttle zum Airport zuständig. Somit dauerte alles wiederum 40 Minuten. Wir werden hier nicht mehr mieten.
Pick up location was wrong and had to wait for our driver. Needed to call two different people on the hotline. Then had to wait 20mins for them to come around. Car had a lot of damages but the rest worked fine.

Hat alles gut geklappt. Sehr freundliches und kompetentes Personal. Das Ein- und Auschecken ging innerhalb weniger Minuten und es gab auch keine Probleme mit der Rückgabe des Wagens. Mein Auto war von den Straßen wirklich dreckig aber ich konnte es ohne Reinigung/Mehrkosten abgeben. Am besten ruft man an, wenn man am Flughafen angekommen ist. Dann kommt das Shuttle innerhalb weniger Minuten und man muss nicht warten. Auf meinem Voucher von billigermietwagen.de stand nämlich auch ein falscher Abholort.
We paid extra for an early checkout but no one showed up at 5:30am. We had to leave the car at the airport. On the way out, we waited for the shuttle for more than 30 minutes even though the agency is only 5 minutes away by car

Worst car rental agency we have ever worked with automatic electric car rental came with no instructions and staff on site esp supervisor Hugo was disrespectful and staff Carolina M we re not knowledgeable telling us she couldn t help as she did not have an electric car. No accommodation made for gas car and as prior customer stated to charge a car on island you need special card t this should have been explained and available at time of rental. NEVER RENT from here we had to have hotel call gas station and car rental agency as when u called no one was free MIIO is providing a refund but all I received from drive on holidays was a nasty email explaining why they were right and I was wrong. Almost ruined our honeymoon. STAY away I am glad to read other customers had similar experiences
Located off the airport. You are met and taken to the office. Very pleasant staff. Easy to sort the legalities of the rental. Didnt take long at all.
Excellent service level from the staff which we appreciated. I dont recommend getting a fully electric car because it was not possible to register for the miio charging app with a foreign phone number so we had to get a virtual Sim which was complicated. Also some of the chargers just didnt work.

NO ALQUILÉIS AQUÍ. No pongo 0 estrellas porque no se puede, muy mala experiencia alquilando un coche aquí, lo cogimos a través de Booking ya que siempre lo utilizamos y nos da mucha seguridad. Habíamos pagado un extra para poder tener el seguro completo Full coverage y evitarnos de líos, al llegar nos dijeron que teníamos que volver a pagarlo allí (además de que era el doble de lo que ya habíamos pagado), o que sino podíamos dejar una fianza pero que un mínimo daño ya hacía que la perdiésemos. Nos dijo que pagando el seguro nos olvidábamos de todo, literalmente nos dijo podéis destruir el coche si queréis, una vez firmado y con las llaves, nos dio un papel con lo que no cubría, que era entre varias cosas las ruedas, le dijimos que nos había engañado diciendo que cubría todo y que lo podíamos destruir, pero dijo que las ruedas no se cubren porque, palabras textuales, en Azores las ruedas no se dañan ni se pinchan, cuando la mayoría de carreteras están muy mal. Muy mala experiencia y no volveremos a utilizar esta empresa, además de no recomendarla. En la siguiente isla (Pico) elegimos otra empresa distinta y fue la mejor decisión que tomamos.
Recogida en el aeropuerto y traslado a la delegación de la empresa, buena atención en la delegación de alquiler, coche muy bien equipado y en muy buen estado, muy satisfechos. Por poner un punto negativo, la empresa no tiene su sede en el aeropuerto. Por lo que tienes que estar seguro a la hora de devolución del vehículo a la hora recogida o de irte.

Nos entregaron un coche nuevo (fiat 500 - potencia suficiente para la isla), con algún rasguño sin importancia. Te recogen y devuelven al aeropuerto muy rápido. El proceso de entrega y devolución es rápido y sencillo. Personal muy amable.
I called to warn that the flight would be delayed and I would arrive at 23:00 At the airport there was no one waiting for me and no one was answering the phone At 11:30 p.m. I was about to take the taxi surrendering to the fact that I had taken a rip-off when I saw out of the corner of my eye the shuttle arrive. Compañía muy recomendable. Está cerca del aeropuerto y el servicio de transfer es muy eficaz. Personal muy amable. Todas las condiciones quedan claras sin sorpresas. La única pega es que nos dieron un coche con muy poca potencia. Recomendaría coger el Fiat 500 que tiene un tamaño ideal para aparcar en las zonas más complicadas de la isla.
Très mauvaise expérience chez Drive on Holidays de Ponta Delgada. Impossible de louer la voiture sans devoir prendre lassurance supplémentaire. Javais beau dire non, ça bouclait en rond pour que je prenne cette assurance. Jai dû céder, javais pas ma journée à discuter. Voiture avec beaucoup de petits impacts partout et un sur la roue avant. Je conseille vivement de faire une vidéo de la voiture ou des photos globales, ça évite les désagréments avec cette société au retour. La voiture semblait fonctionner au départ, mais au bout dun jour gros bruit sur la roue avant, mais pas systématique. Il fallait que les freins soient chauds et freiner en tournant. Cest comme si un petit morceau de pièce métallique venait frotter le frein. Ca naltérait pas le freinage, mais grosse frayeur à chaque tournant. Retour du véhicule le deuxième jour, car trop dangereux. Après une tentative de nier le problème par Drive on Holidays, échange du véhicule avec surclassement. Synpa, ça semblait compenser la sur assurance, mais grosse erreur de ma part, je nai pris que des photos des 3, 4 impacts et pas de la totalité du véhicule qui me semblait correct. Au retour, contestation de Drive on Holidays sur des impacts imaginaires. Lun était sur lagencement de la carrosserie de laile droite qui navait aucun impact, mais était décalé par rapport à lail gauche. Je navais pas pris de photo, car il ny avait aucun impact et je navais pas fait attention à ce décalage de carrosserie. Lautre problème était que le verre du rétroviseur était trop décalé, mais cétait juste un réglage de rétro .Aucun problème à mon sens, mais insistance de Drive on Holidays pour dire que ce nétait pas normal. Comme javais pris la surassurance aucun frais de ma part comme insistait la personne, mais grosse arnaque à lassurance. Jai fini par accepter car javais un avion à prendre. Je déconseille sérieusement cette agence et bien tout faire noter les impacts sur le contrat avant de signer. Et aussi prendre une vidéo ou des photos globales. Avec les autres sociétés de location de véhicules tout cest bien passé, évitez Drive on Holidays, beaucoup de sourires, mais des emmerdes assurés si vous navez pas pris vos précotions.

Do not accept the car without a full tank. Felt like I was being scammed. Even though it s policy to provide the car with a full car, they didn t check the car before giving it (or so they said), first they hand wrote on the contract that the tank wasn t full (writing that it was at 5/8 which is obviously an impossible level to measure exactly. Gave back the car with slightly over half of the tank full , they first tried to convince us that the car was given to us with a full tank, then they said that it wasn t exactly 5/8 charging us 27 . Terrible servic, will never hire a car from this company
Op onze dag van aankomst konden we nog een auto verkrijgen, toen dit bij alle andere verhuurders in Ponta Delgada heel erg duur of onmogelijk was. Vriendelijk en correct personeel, bij het afleveren vergat ik mijn portefeuille en die brachten ze onmiddellijk en gratis tot op de luchthaven. Zeker aan te raden.
Our Flight from Lisbon arrived late. We announced that via phone to Drive on holiday before start in Lisbon. Finally we arrived 30 mins after the scheduled time and 15 minutes after close of the shop in Sao Miguel. We called again @20:15 and had to wait for the shuttle until 20:55. At the pickup location we had to pay a fee of 33 because we were late. Others arrived at the same time had to pay the same amount. Others returning their car had to pay 50 cleaning fee, as the car was not as clean as on pickup. So we invested in washing and vacuuming before car return. Not really bad, but others on the island are a lot better.
The rental was without hitch. I got a stone caught in the disc and they offered to change the car immediately even though not necessary. Check in and return was without any problems and very quick. Staff were very polite, knowledgeable and very efficient. The car was returned not very clean and there were no questions asked. I cannot recommend this company enough. BRILLIANT!
Even though they are not directly at the airport, an employee was waiting for us when our plane arrived to take us to collect our car. On the way back, check out, they dropped us off in town at our hotel. Efficient service.

Reservation over Booking. Easy pickup from the airport. Nice guys. When taking the car it is recommended to take an 175 insurance to be save. Could be done differently, but OK. Taking back the car took about 10 minutes, with no issues what so ever. Our car wasnt very clean. No complaints. Transfer to the airport right after turning back the car. 5-10 minutes travel time.

El noi de l entrega una mica tancat, ens va entregar el cotxe amb dipòsit no ple tal com havíem signat. El portuguès no es gaire difícil d entendre si parlem poc a poc, aquet noi crec que s esforçava perque l entenguesim. Molt pesat en afegir altre assegurança a las ja contractades. En canvi, el noi de la recepció, perfecte.
Best car rental experience in my life. In the beginning I was a bit skeptical because of bad reviews but I noticed they were very old. I m so glad I booked the car with Drive on Holidays!! I relaxed the moment we were picked up on the airport and taken to pick up the car. All formalities went very smooth and we also got some recommendations for places to visit, super nice! I have to say all staff was very friendly and accommodating. I returned the car with some damage and yet again, even in this stressful situation it was handled quick and easy. After that we were also taken to the airport by the car rental employee. Very much appreciated. I cannot recommend this place enough, the people who work there are angels. I d definitely come back!!!!

Una de las mejores opciones para alquiler de coches. Nuestra experiencia personal fue muy satisfactoria. Todo el personal es encantador. Te recogen en el aeropuerto y te llevan a las oficinas. Una vez dejas el coche te dejan de nuevo en el aeropuerto.
Al llegar te piden una fianza de 2.100 que te devuelven si no le haces nada al coche, si no te dan la opción de pagar 300 que no se te van a devolver, los coches se entregan limpios y el personal un 10!! Las políticas de la empresa no le gustan, te llevan y te recogen en el aeropuerto
Pessoal muito simpático e prestável. O processo de levantar e devolver a viatura foi super rápido e fácil. Já estavam à nossa espera no aeroporto, e o balcão fica a uns 5 minutos. Todos os atendentes tinham um sorriso e perguntaram se era a nossa primeira vez na ilha, oferecendo dicas de sítios a visitar. Há muito tempo que não via tanta delicadeza. A única sugestão é que disponibilizem o contrato também em língua portuguesa, afinal, estamos em Portugal. Mas, de resto, são 5 estrelas.

Un loueur parfait. Nous sommes arrivés à 1:00 et repartis à 4:30, deux check-in / check-out de nuit. Le personnel est souriant et parfaitement organisé. Navette rapide, état de la voiture préparé avec soin, envoi par mail des photos des dégâts, voiture parfaitement propre. Au retour, un coup d il rapide sur la carrosserie et sur le plein, et la caution est débloquée. Bravo. Difficile de comprendre les avis négatifs !

No le pongo un 0 porque no se puede. Son unos estafadores. Coches caros. Te dejan dejar una fianza de 1300 y ÚNICAMENTE aceptan targetas de CRÉDITO, física (no dejan digital) y unicamente si es de la misma persona que va a conducir. No ponen facilidades para nada. No cogen el telefono. Lo peor. Cogimos una empresa local de ponta delgada que le da mil vueltas, mas majos, más agradables, sin fianza y te intentan ayudar en todo. Se llama AUTORAMALHENSE. Empresa local, barata y fiable. Se puede pagar con cualquier targeta. Potenciemos el comercio local, no deis dinero a estas empresas que no valoran nada.

I am completely satisfied both with the staff and the car. They ve even provided us with an upgrade, free of charge, because the requested car was not available at the moment. The staff is very friendly and polite. The service was superb. Also the girl who was assisting us when returning the car has suggested the she order the taxi for us, as we were returning to Ponta Delgada. Although simple, this thoughtful gesture made a positive impression. They also offer free airport transfer, btw. I ve seen a few negative comments here, and I have nothing to say about them. I m just sharing my experience. And it was excellent.
Estuve a punto de cancelar lar reserva por los malos comentarios que leí. Pero para nosotros fue todo correcto. Por puntos: 1. A mi si que me funcionó la tarjeta de débito para la fianza de 1300 2. La recogida en el aeropuerto no fue muy fluida, pero llamé por teléfono y en 5 min estaban recogiéndonos 3.el día anterior llené hasta arriba el depósito y por 1,5 le di una limpieza rápida con agua a presión 4. El coche era híbrido, prácticamente nuevo. El consumo fueron 55 de gasolina 7 días. 5.despues de dejar el coche, al momento nos acercaron al aeropuerto. Bajo mi punto de vista, si eres cuidadoso. No vas a tener problemas.
Absolutely amazing people here! My partner and I walked here from Ponta Delgada. When we arrived, we mentioned that we had just walked there. The guy was a little taken aback. He asked why we didn t call them, that they would have picked us up. My partner said she emailed, but head office said they don t shuttle from the town center. He was very apologetic and said to just call them directly next time. My partner rented the Fiat 500 because it s my second favourite car, and it was my birthday that day. She offhandedly mention this, and right away the guy told us to hold on, he might be able to get us a cabriolet. No way we d say no to that of course. As we were checking in and signing everything, we could see him running around looking. After a little bit, he came back to tell us he got one, and we d just have to wait a few minutes because they were cleaning it. What an amazing surprise! They told us to please feel free to take lots of pictures and even came out with us to point out all the little dents and scrapes (not that were many though). Of course we told them about a bad experience we had had with ANC a few days before. We got lucky with the weather and was able to actually have the top down quite a bit. Upon returning the car, they took a look over the car, while I apologized for some mud on it and said I wished I had washed it. The guy chuckled and said not to worry about it, that s why they have guys that clean it. I wish I had gotten everyone s names to give them proper credit. All I can say is that they were the easiest and best people I have dealt with. They made my birthday one to remember. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Muita simpatia e profissionalismo. Só pecam por ter o ponto de recolha e entrega num parque muito afastado do aeroporto. Em dias de chuva ou com malas pesadas fica muito pouco cómodo.
We picked up the car after midnight (last flight in) and had to drop it off super early (first flight out) and the staff was on time and always friendly. The car was excellent and we were able to see the whole island. Excellent customer service!
Du à un retard de notre vol, nous devons changer notre compagnie de location. Il nous aura fallu payer 33 . L agence est malgré tout efficace : réponse rapide aux appels et l employée est venue nous récupérer rapidement au p6 à minuit et demi. L agence est propre et la récupération du véhicule fut faite rapidement. Le lendemain, notre voiture a eu le voyant moteur allumé, nous sommes revenues, et ils nous ont changé la voiture (meme modele) en moins de 5 minutes. Rendu de voiture simple et rapide.
Do not rent from this place!! It is a scam! They surprise you with a a 4000 Euro hold on your credit card or pay 240 euro for insurance. Then they rent you a vehicle and come up with damages that were already there to charge you for!! Big scam!!!! You also have to walk about a kilometre to the shuttle! The paperwork takes so long you almost miss your flight. Then they will not drop you at the airport but only at the shuttle stop which is a kilometre away! Expedia should eliminate this company!!!!!
Foi a nossa primeira vez nos Açores . Pesquisamos aluguer de carro e escolhemos DRIVE ON HOLIDAYS. Foram- nos buscar ao aeroporto . Um rapaz super simpático , atencioso e muito amável que nos levou aos escritórios para levantarmos o carro. Mal chegamos fomos atendidos por uma senhora igualmente simpática e amável, Além do serviço ter sido excelente ainda tivemos a sorte de conhecer o sr Luis que foi incansável e super prestável em todas as situações que necessitamos .Quando realizarmos outra viagem certamente que escolheremos novamente os seus serviços . Obrigada sr Luis ainda há pessoas muito humanas honestas e com bom carácter.
Aluguei uma Mercedes Vito, para passar 5 dias em São Miguel com a família. Éramos 8 pax. Tal périplo não poderia começar e terminar melhor. Desde o levantar da viatura ate à sua entrega, o serviço desta rent-a-car demonstrou total profissionalismo e total objetivo em ir ao encontro da expectativa do Cliente. Simpatia e profissionalismo muito bem complementado pelo atendimento da Carolina. Não conhecia esta rent-a-car, mas em São Miguel -Açores, revelou ser uma muito agradável surpresa. Recomendo fortemente. Parabéns!!

Staff mal formado, criando obstáculos em vez de soluções. Cuidado ao alugar veículos neste rent a car. Queriam cobrar 50 euros do seguro por uma pequena mancha no assento, mancha essa que foi tirada em 5 segundos com um pano molhado. Parece que o staff está instruído para tentar cobrar valores extra aos clientes.
Be careful when renting a car from this rental company. They are unhelpful, poorly trained and confrontational staff. Luckily, there was a colleague who, instead of creating conflicts, knew how to resolve them. They treat customers like vandals. I returned a vehicle covered in dust from the road and, because it had rained, they said the dust was to camouflage any damage to the vehicle.
Los precios son mas económicos porque el coche no está en la terminal. Debes ir andando hasta final de todos los parquings, y a la izquierda casi al final, hay unos carros, una garita y afuera un cartel portatil que pone su nombre el telefono y debes llamar. En diez minutos o menos llegan a buscarte. Has llegado a la isla de la calma, con lo que no te pongas nervioso. Una vez nos vamos de la isla, vemos es la forma de ser de aqui. El vuelo llego ya una hora y media tarde, con lo que teniamos ganas de llegar, pero ellos van a su ritmo. Y es admirable. Con una furgoneta te llevan a unos cinco diez minutos a su base, donde reliazaras los papeles y recogerás el coche. Recomiendo verifiques bien con ellos antes de partir, si tiene suciedad o daños. Debes pagar un seguro o un deposito de 1200 . A diferencia de otros sitios que te lo retienen pero no te lo cobran, aqui si, es decir ojo porque te descontaran ese importe y debes tenerlo previsto en tu viaje. Una vez devuelves el coche y lo verifican, al momento delante nuestro estaba el dinero de nuevo en la cuenta. Rapido la verdad. El regreso fue a las cuatro de la mañana, con lo que el mismo chico nos realizó todo, y nos acompañó hasta aeropuerto. En lugar de dejarnos al final donde tienen su zona, nos dejo delante mismo de las puertas de embarque, cosa que se agradece mucho. Una vez mas, digo la amabilidad de esta isla es increible, y no pararé de repetirlo. Nosotros lavamos el coche en un tunel de lavado, pues acaba muy sucio y por tres euros no te arriesgues a que te penalicen. Sacudes las alfombrillas, y lavalo. Mejor prevenir que curar. Procure outro lugar para alugar carro! Alugámos o carro durante 5 dias, entregaram nos o carro à chuva, o que dificultava a observação de mossas, riscos ou amoladelas ,com isto na entrega no carro acusaram nos de um dano na jante que não tinha sido provocado por nós, e coincidentemente o seguro que fizemos não cobre esse dano, então obrigaram nos a pagar 100 . Afim de protestaram mos a acusação, não nos foi permitida a palavra, chegando a haver elevações de voz pela parte da funcionária. Assim que pedi calma, que falássemos cordialmente, obtive uma resposta irónica e antipática da parte da funcionária desta empresa. Estando eu grávida, voltei a pedir calma, e que não houvesse faltas de respeito, e quando suspiro pelo stress e cansaço que me estava a provocar, a funcionária volta a dirigir se à minha pessoa, com ar de desprezo, e incentivando a discussão para o meu lado. Achei ridículo, a falta de ética e profissionalismo, desta funcionária, e no global da empresa. Parece que está tudo feito! Acredito, e com os comentários que li, não sou de certeza a única. Prova que não, que o livro de reclamações à qual escrevi estava cheio. Não recomendo de todo.
Se quiser alugar carro esta não será opção, inicialmente não ligamos muito aos comentários de feedback porém calhou nos a nós também, cobram por danos que já estavam no carro e alegam que não estavam na entrega do mesmo. As viaturas tem moças por todos os lados e se não olharem e tirarem fotos acredito que irao cair neste esquema. Nota: atenção a recolhas a chuva os danos não são visíveis. atendimento péssimo e incentivo a criar seguros completamente desnecessários para encarecer a conta, carro entregue com níveis de anticongelante em baixo e pressão de pneus não adequada pelo fabricante. Espero que a entidade responsável /reguladora aplique sanções a este estabelecimento dado tantas reclamações que o livro tem e clientes insatisfeitos
Não aconselho esta companhia. Exigem uma caução de 1100 euros, apenas com entrega de cartão de crédito, mostrando-se inflexíveis a outras formas de pagamento de caução (transferência ou débito). Como não ando com esse cartão, por questões de segurança, e face à absoluta intransigência da empresa, recusei de imediato o serviço. O facto é que existem outras empresas em São Miguel e de serviço local que prestam melhor serviço, ao invés destas multinacionais. Assisti a uma inqualificável cena de falta de educação dos funcionários para com um cliente alemão. Os funcionários exigiam, quase gritando, que o cliente mostrasse o passaporte, apesar de ser um cidadão da União Europeia. E ainda confundiram o cartão de identificação alemão com a carta de condução do cliente. Enfim, muito baixo nível. O aspecto positivo é o transfer do aeroporto para a companhia e vice-versa. Quanto aos carros não me pronuncio, pois depois do que assisti na recepção virei costas e escolhi outra empresa.
Car pick up and return was professional and prompt along with great selection of cars. My rating is due to Carolina Mateus and others organized service. Only thing I found most unusual was that we were told to wash the car and vacuum the floor mats by our airport pickup driver before returning from our rental . First time in 40 years of car rentals for that request!
Great experience with Drive On Holidays! Carolina, who checked us in and out, was professional and personable. I never felt pressured or as if I was being taken advantage of as Ive felt at other rental car companies in the past. The drivers of the shuttle vans were also very friendly and offered helpful advice for our visit. Rented a stick-shift Fiat which had plenty of room for luggage and was able to handle the steep hills throughout the island just fine. I will note that where the shuttle picks you up and drops you off at the airport is further of a walk than I expected, not a big deal, but just something to be aware of while carrying bags. Overall I would recommend this car rental company and would happily use them again myself.
Wir waren mit Drive on Holidays sehr zufrieden. Wenn man aus dem Terminal herauskommt muss man zwar ein ganzes Stück nach rechts zu P6 laufen, dort wartet aber bereits ein Shuttle auf uns und brachte uns zu Büro der Firma. Die Formalitäten dauerten ca. 15 Minuten. Wir haben beim Rundgang ums Auto viele Fotos gemacht und alle vorhandenen Schäden im Protokoll vermerken lassen. Damit hatten wir dann auch bei der Rückgabe keine Probleme und die Kaution wurde in voller Höhe entblockt. Das Shuttle hat uns dann auch direkt wieder zum Flughafen gebracht. Leider nicht bis zum Terminal, sondern auch wieder nur bis zu P6. Obwohl die Mitarbeiterin direkt wieder losgefahren ist. Insgesamt waren wir sehr zufrieden

Same as described in so many reviews they try to scam you with a cleaning fee! General staff is friendly but the Manager is out of place. - At return of the car a ver nice employee checked the car and said everything looks fine and we can close the contract. After a short look by the General Manager he insisted that the car is excessively dirty and we need to clean it. The car only had general dust from driving on it so I went ahead and used my remaining water bottle to give it a quick rinse. The employee was satisfied and we continued to close the contract. After a minute the General Manager rushed in and told me that the car is still excessively dirty and I have to pay or drive to a car wash otherwise they will not close the contract. I tried to explain that there is no excess dirt but just normal wear and tear from driving, the contract does not state that the car has to be brought back washed and asked him to show me precisely where he sees the excess dirt so i can wash it down. He showed me the general area of the rear of the car so i used the remaining water bottle to wash it down again. Even then he was still insisting on the excess dirt and fee with pointless explanations that he will have higher costs with the cleaning company because of that. After telling him that this is ridiculous he started screaming at me that this is no way to speak in his house . After some back and forth, my portugues speaking partner also stepped in and tried to calm the situation by suggesting that we can go buy more water and rinse a bit more. At this point he just resigned and exclaimed in portugues that we should just get lost and the employee should close the contract. When he rushed back into the back room we could hear him telling the group of employees that they should find a way of changing the contract so regular dirt can also be charged easily. Nothing like this was any problem with other rental car companies, so if the prices are similar I would avoid drive on holidays at all costs.
Gutes, neues Auto und ordentlicher Service. Leider hatten wir einen Platten und haben die Servicenummer nicht erreicht. Außerdem war das Reifenreparaturkit nicht funktionsfähig. Immerhin waren die Mitarbeiter sehr verständnisvoll.

Also wir können uns absolut nicht bekalgen. Einzig wieso der letzte Stern fehlt ist der Ort an dem man am Flughafen abgeholt wird. Man muss hier ein Stück zufuß laufen. Das gesamte Team war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir hatten kein Problem mit dem normal schmutzigem Auto, war absolut kein Thema. Können es nur weiterempfehlen hier ein Auto zu mieten.
I would NOT recommend. Had the worst experience. We picked up our car just before our reservation. We returned the car before our reservation time a few days later but we re charged 50 euros for returning the car late. The manager and assistant were very aggressive and distasteful.

Não recomendo esta empresa uma vez que não são flexíveis quanto ao uso de cartão de crédito e o atendimento é muito mau. Não tendo connosco um cartão de crédito físico, não nos deram qualquer outra opção (outras empresas oferecem outras opções como pagamento da franquia em dinheiro, seguro total que acaba por ficar mais caro mas elimina a necessidade de franquia tão elevada, etc) tivemos que cancelar a reserva sem qualquer tipo de apoio por parte da empresa e procurar uma nova. O pior de tudo acabou por ser o atendimento por parte de pessoas que não têm qualquer vontade de ajudar ou tentar resolver a situação com o cliente.
Nous avons loué un SUV via drive on Holidays. Lagence nest pas dans laéroport mais propose un service de navette efficace. Du fait de cette particularité nous avons pu avoir des tarifs moins élevés pour une voiture de qualité supérieure. Nous avons eu une voiture neuve très propre. La vérification de départ sest bien déroulée et les explications étaient claires. On ne peut pas dire quon ne savait pas. Il arrive qqch a la voiture cest de notre faute si on a pas dassurance (et même si on en a une dailleurs). Lagence demande quun minimum soit fait en matière de nettoyage de lintérieur. Ce qui est normal au vu des activités dextérieures nombreuses à Sao Miguel. Une fois cela en tête on peut partir. Pour nous, tout sest bien déroulé nous navons pas accroché la voiture bien que certaines routes nous ont donnés des sueurs froides ! La vérification de retour sest bien déroulée aussi sans zèle excessif. Ils nous ont ramenés à laéroport via leur navette en moins de 5 minutes. Léquipe est très aimable et agréable. Merci je recommande.

We had a good experience with Drive On Holidays... But have to admit were a little nervous from the reviews. The pickup location is at the very end of the parking lot outside the airport. I had to call to get a ride and wait 15min. Overall it probably took about an hour from walking out the airport to leaving Drive On Holidays with the rental car. The van was perfect for our family of 6. Its the old fashioned check in/check out process of walking around the car and marking up any damage you see before... and then someone will walk around the car after. Please be detailed about the damage because they look at the car carefully upon return. Also, they go by what you marked on the sheet - not by pictures you have on your phone.... Although Id recommend doing both. I returned the car pretty clean and didnt receive any hassle as some previous reviewers have. Im leaving 4 stars instead of 5 for one simple reason: They put a 4,000 euro hold on your card which seems outrageously high. It actually made me really nervous. But they did release the hold upon return. But 4,000 is significantly higher than any other place Ive ever rented from. Overall we had a good experience here and would rent again if the price made sense.

De todo. Han tenido mucha cara al cobrarnos mil cosas más estando ahí. Hicimos la reserva antes de coger las vacaciones por ahorrar tiempo, pues estuvimos mas de una hora allí esperando. Uno de los trabajadores nos metía fichas, pero sin descanso. Fue realmente incomodo. Además de las cosas que nos cobraron de mas al estar allá que si un seguro diario, que si los 1500 de fianza y que no podíamos coger menos, que si otros 20 porque entregábamos el coche a la 07.00h en vez de a las 08.00h.... no se no me gusto nada. Lo cierto es que la calidad el coche, genial.

Al recoger el coche intentamos modificar la reserva para retrasar la entrega 2 horas y no quisieron gestionarlo desde la oficina. Directamente nos dieron un teléfono donde después de llamar varias veces nos dijeron que tendríamos que pagar 120 euros por 2 horas por no haberlo gestionado antes. El personal no fue muy amable . Hay muchas más empresas de alquiler y más baratas.
Car was nice, very long walk to their pickup point. No signage in the airport to tell you where to find them in the terminal building. Lots of additional charges. I would not use them again. Stick to the known brands at the airport, Avis, Hertz etc.
Avoid at all costs. What a scam. Total protection insurance only applies if you manage to get a police officer to write an official police report. This includes door dings or literally any visible damage to the car. No police report, no protection. If you use an outside insurance plan they charge a 1,000 hold on your credit card.

Muy buena relación calidad precio. Alquilamos un VW Polo que que estaba muy nuevo. Cuesta un poco encontrar las oficinas al llegar al aeropuerto puesto que no están donde las demás. Tienes que salir a la calle, caminar hasta el parking 6 y alli te esperan en una furgoneta para llevarte en una furgoneta a las oficinas y hacer el papeleo alli. Para la entrega es el mismo proceso. Devuelves el coche en las oficinas y ellos te trasladan al aeropuerto. Abren a partir de las 8 de la mañana.
Rented a Fiat Panda from them, it was the cheapest on our desired dates. The car was very new (10000 km) and in good condition. We returned it in the same condition and had no troubles whatsoever. 1100 as a credit card deposit is excessive but we knew the amount before booking. Overall we had a good experience and I would rent from them again. Thanks!
Rent your vehicle elsewhere. As others have noted in their reviews, they made us drive 20 min to the nearest gas station upon returning the car for HALF A LITER of gas or else they said they would charge us $50. Also, they have a shuttle car for the airport but refused to use it to drive us 10 min into town (closer than airport). They also tried to sell us additional insurance even though we had already purchased coverage through Expedia upon booking. Additionally, they failed to refund our deposit upon return. We had to call them back and go through our paperwork after vacation for them to process that. Finally, the car was just wildly overpriced. All around terrible experience - steer clear.
Very disappointed in our rental! Run dont walk from this company. Our SATA flight was late arriving to Ponta Delgada.. the company is only open until 8pm you will be charged $33 if you arrive after 8pm. We had to walk to lot P6 (The furthest from the airport) and wait for the shuttle to arrive. Only after I called them to let them know we arrived. I expected them to be there at the airport waiting because I provided my flight #. Other rental Co. were there with signs and renters names. I rented a Ford Polo but while completing the paperwork the agent informs me they have no Polos so they upgraded me to a mini Cooper. I said that is not an upgrade for 4 adults with 4 large bags! Even though the lot was full of cars she informed me she only has the mini available. Someone will call tomorrow to let us know if another car is available.. they called and said sorry no other car is available. Upon returning the car a week later the team lead quickly ran out to great us..asking how much we loved the mini...are you kidding we hated it. This is not the car we rented. I got the impression he did not believe me because he explained renting minis is a specific request and asked for my paperwork...luckily I still had it. He took a copy and apologized and said someone would call me. No calls yet..not sure I will get one.
A total scam - stay away ! We rented a Smart for 2 for one week, the hostess spent 30 minutes during check in documenting the whole list of scratches on the car before we left the agency. Upon arriving at our hotel (2 kms away) we noticed something was hanging under the car (see picture attached) it was some white tape attached to the bottom of the car, probably hiding something else. We instantly drove back to the agency where the guy who had driven us there from the airport told us (quoting him) « this car had an oil leak, it happens all the time, the tape is probably supposed to fix the leak » we were under shock to receive such a response, and did not feel safe renting a car from this agency anymore, after spending so much time during check in highlighing all the scratches but not being told about this *little* detail, which could have potentially endangered our lives at some point during the trip (and on the other hand made the agency win the 1.400 euro caution ) The agency proposed a car from a different category to us, which we did not feel safe driving anymore at that point any longer given the circumstances, we wanted a refund. They just refunded the caution, but told us we would get the car rental refund later on. As we did not believe them we asked them to leave us a written statement saying they would refund us, they did not want to but we were so pushy that they ended up printing us a paper where they vaguely said we would get a refund. However, the days passed by on the island, and as the refund did not come, we decided to go to the local police station to report the scam. The police called them, and the agency told the police that they did not want to refund us the car rental, as according to the contract conditions, they are not forced to refund you in case you do not accept the car they want to give you as a replacement (we refused the replacement car they offered us as we did not trust them anymore). The police suggested us to pay them a visit the day after in order to file a complaint within their complaint book, which we did. We finally managed to get a full refund, as they probably felt intimidated about the fact that the local police was calling them, and their image is slowly getting stained. Please do not come to this agency: after this bad start we went to another local agency in the city center recommended by our hotel, and they were great and honest, unfortunately not available on online browsers. I recommend asking your hotel for car rental recommendations prior to coming to São Miguel.

I rented a Fiat 500 for a couple days to go around the island. The rental was very easy and we had no major issues. The meet up car park is a couple minutes walk from the airport and they offer a free shuttle to their rental park. The car was almost new (km and driving condition) and everything went very well.
Não aconselho de todo este local para aluguer de carro. Acho vergonhosa a falta de respeito e de auxílio prestada para com o cliente. Além da caução ser extremamente elevada, não são de todo flexíveis quanto ao uso de cartão de crédito. Assim não tendo um cartão de crédito físico, recusam-se a utilizar outro tipo de cartão, apesar de ser possível fazer na mesma o bloqueio da quantia. São extremamente antipáticos e não tentam encontrar outra solução para o cliente. Alegam ainda que não bloqueiam em cartão de débito devido a custos bancários, o que sendo completamente honesta não faz qualquer sentido dado o valor do aluguer. Ainda mais quando depois conseguimos facilmente alugar carro com qualquer outra empresa, uma vez que todas as outras presentes no aeroporto aceitavam fazer o bloqueio da caução em cartão de débito.

Sortir de laéroport sur la droite direction parking 6 (P6) à 5 mins à pieds. Puis appeler le numéro indiqué sur la pancarte près de lautre loueur et ils viennent vous chercher rapidement.
Sorry excuse for a rental car company. Security deposit was supposed to be an authorization hold but was instead fully charged to my account. I was assured multiple times that I would get refunded but after 20 days I needed to start a dispute with my credit card provider. Avoid at all costs
Nos entregaron un coche con 10 daños, algunos de estos eran picadas en pintura, propias , creemos, de circular por la isla. En el momento de bloquear el depósito, no aceptan una tarjeta de crèdito MasterCard Carrefour, alegando que es de débito y por tanto pagamos un extra por , según ellos, no era crédito. Creemos que es una estratègia para ingresar el extra. They gave us a car with 10 damages, some of these were chipped paint, typical, we believe, of driving around the island. At the time of blocking the deposit, they do not accept a Carrefour MasterCard credit card, claiming that it is a debit card and therefore we paid an extra for, according to them, it was not credit. We believe that it is a strategy to enter the extra.
We had a pretty new Fiat 500 (7k km so far) and the best of our 4 car rental car experiences on the island. The transfer was flawless and the car even with android auto for navigation with Google maps pretty helpful!

Super smooth experience. Got a nice car (Fiat 500), taking the car took 10 minutes, and returning it took 3 minutes. I paid their 97 euros coverage instead of locking 1300 euros, I think it was worth it.
We enjoyed renting a Panda from them! Super kind and lovely people work there. Big thanks to Alex who made sure that everything went smooth. They re not directly in the airport but they run a convenient shuttle and the place is only 3 min away. I d rent from them again.
I was a little nervous renting from this place since it seemed like a small outfit and it wasnt located at the airport. We rented a fairly new convertible Mini Cooper. The shuttle bus arrived after a waiting just a few minutes at the designated airport lot which was a short distance from the terminal. All the employees are friendly and helpful. They provide a detailed account of the previous damage that was done to the vehicle. I felt that many of these were very minor which made me wonder if I would be charged upon return. Anyhow, all went well with the drop off and the return shuttle to the airport. I would use them again.

I used to be a customer for 6 years. Not anymore. Ive treated badly. Tried 4 times to book a car. At payment reduniq all I obtained was an error. Contacted my bank and ive said that is scam to not book too much earlier so the price is higher. So...no serious people this guys at driveonholidays and movida, the owner of the brand.
OPINION NEGATIVA Alquilé en ésta Compañía el coche porque me pareció un precio razonable (no había leído las oponiones de otros clientes, en cuyo caso habría buscado otra, sin dudarlo). Al buscar la Oficina de la Compañía en el Aeropuerto, mi primera sorpresa es que no la encontré. Preguntando, me dijeron que en el parquing había una Caseta donde una furgoneta me llevaría a recoger el coche (ésta información debería habérmela facilitado la Compañía de manera clara y expresa, pero no había sido así). En la Caseta, a unos 450 metros, donde esperaban otros dos clientes más, nos recogió la citada furgoneta. En la entrega del coche, tras bloquearme de la tarjeta 1.300 , me mostraron cerca de diez pequeños e insignificantes desperfectos de carrocería y suciedad de un asiento (de lo que tuve que firmar mi conformidad), lo cual me alertó ya para todo el viaje del cuidado que debía tener para que en la entrega no saliera ninguno más y me lo hicieran pagar de los 1.300 bloqueados. En la entrega no tuve problemas (el empleado revisó todo el coche y el combustible, y me desbloqueó los 1.300 ). El coche era un Fiat 500, que intentaré no alquilar jamás otro igual, pues no me gustó ni el rendimiento mecánico ni el interior del mismo. Como el servicio de la Compañía es de 08 a 20 horas y mi avión despegaba temprano tuve que entregar el coche al amanecer. Por ello me cobraron 33 . La furgoneta me llevó hasta su Caseta del parquing, no al Aeropuerto (el conductor se justificó diciendo que no podía dejarme en la terminal de salidas, ya que se exponía a una multa de la Policia. En fin nunca más). Nota: Leyendo los comentarios de otros clientes, se observa una política de precios arbitraria respecto *a la cantidad del depósito y *al precio por la entrega del coche antes de las 08 horas.
Tuve que ir por mis propios medios a recoger el coche a su sede y se suponía que nos recogían en el aeropuerto para eso. Te piden un depósito desproporcionado por el alquiler (4000 ). Tampoco permiten pago en efectivo. Cuando dejas el vehículo y te llevan al aeropuerto te dejan en el parking más lejano a la terminal. Será mi última opción cuando volvamos.
From pick up to drop off everything was perfect! The employees were super friendly and provided us with great tips regarding food, weather apps and things to do on the island. We loved our tiny Fiat Panda, as we could explore the whole island and fitted in every parking spot. The whole system is very transparent and fair. Also in comparison with other car rental services Drive on Holidays offered the very best deal. 10/10 would recommend it to everyone who needs a car on Sao Miguel. PS we can not really understand the bad reviews perhaps people really left the car in a mess. When hiking and walking around the island things can get very muddy but cleaning your shoes before entering the car and leaving the car in a pleasant state is something you should do always.
Nem sei como começar... Fazem parcerias sem saber o que os parceiros oferecem. Franquias estupidamente altas... Seguro extra de cobertura completa, que exclui jantes e pneus, vidros, fundo do carro, etc.. Cartão de crédito só do tempo dos dinossauros... O responsável não passava de um smigle de caracóis, que a cada solução apresentada por mim ,havia um novo obstáculo da parte dele, quando devia ser ele a apresentar soluções. No meio deste caos de ganância, orquestrado poe esta empresa, destacasse pela positiva o Miguel do shuttle,que definitivamente merecia melhor.
Hay q andar 1 km para llegar al punto de encuentro, y luego te llevan a por el coche de alquiler. Cuando el viaje termina, les dejas el coche de alquiler y te llevan al mismo punto de encuentro, a 1km del aeropuerto y tienes tú q cargar con todo el equipaje andando, de haberlo sabido no lo hubiese contratado jamás. En el mismo aeropuerto está Sixt y muchas más a pie de aeropuerto y mucho más cómodo todo.
Ao chegar ao local percebemos que não tínhamos cartão de crédito, o que se torna um problema enorme para conseguir resolver a situação e levantar a viatura. A única solução que apresentam é criar um cartão de crédito virtual (MBway) e adquirir um seguro contra todos os riscos extra (mesmo já tendo um) que anula a franquia necessária... Posteriormente, somos alertados que qualquer risco ou dano que seja feito na viatura, terá de ser reportado as autoridades locais para que façam um relatório de ocorrência que entregamos depois na agência, para que não nos seja cobrado mais valor nenhum. Pontos positivos a salientar: a limpeza da viatura Simpatia dos funcionários durante o trajeto aeroporto-agencia e vice versa.
Haben das Auto über das Portal billiger-mietwagen gebucht. Es hat alles wunderbar unkompliziert geklappt. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr nett, mit dem Auto war auch alles in Ordnung. Transfer zum Flughafen funktionierte auch gut, man läuft von Parkdeck 6 keine 5 Minuten bis zum Terminal. Wir haben sehr gute Erfahrungen mit Drive in Holidays gemacht.
NÃO ALUGUEM AQUI - VENDEDORES DE SEGUROS Fiquei extremamente desiludida na altura de levantamento do carro, percebe-se mesmo que a ideia é vender seguros. Dizem que é necessário um cartão de crédito físico para o levantamento do carro, como eu não tinha cartão físico apresentamos o do meu namorado, olham com cara de desconfiados (talvez por ele ser brasileiro) e dizem que o cartão dele não serve, depois arranjam uma desculpa esfarrapada a dizer que o cartão tem que estar no mesmo nome da pessoa que vai conduzir..um embuste, não recomendo. Ainda tentei deixar o uma caução no valor da franquia mas também não aceitaram, nem um pouco flexiveis. A ideia mesmo é vender um seguro, eu ia pagar 70 para 4 dias e depois disto tudo ficou-me em 160 . Já fiz reclamação na Deco e espero que esta mensagem sirva para outras pessoas não cairem no mesmo embuste.
Do not, under any circumstances, rent from this company. I returned the car without any damage to the vehicle, with a full tank of gas, yet the customer service rep still gave me the runaround about being unable to reverse the charge for the security deposit on my credit card. We were on our way to the airport to catch a flight, so I did not have time to press the issue. I have filed a dispute with my card company, but at this point, it s starting to feel like its an intentional way to deprive me of the deposit. None of my emails have been replied to. I will continue to escalate, but in the meantime, warn everyone who is thinking about renting from this company to save yourself the hassle and think again!

Weve rent a Smart for two for 4 weeks and everything was just perfect! The staff is very friendly. Free shuttle service to the airport.
The car was fine and the staff was friendly, but this is not a very reliable service. They said somewhere would be there at 7 am to check in the car and drive me to the airport, for a charge of 30 euros. Nobody was there, I nearly missed my flight and will have had to send the keys back through the poste. In fairness they returned the deposit before receiving the keys.
Serviço fantástico, Staff bastante amigável e profissional, nada a apontar... Talvez o valor da caução seja um pouco elevado, mas pondo essa questão de parte, serviço 5*

We rented a small smart car for our trip and had a blast, renting went smoothly and they had a cad prepared for us upon arrival. Once we returned as long as you drive safely and wash the car! You re fine :) very friendly staff
Ja, sie legen Wert darauf, dass das Auto pfleglich behandelt und sauber zurückgegeben wird (Tipp: Autowäsche Blue Elephant in Ponta Delgada; hat auch sonntags auf). Ob andere Autovermietungen in dieser Hinsicht großzügiger sind, weiß ich nicht. Der Shuttle verlief zuverlässig und reibungslos, auch um 6:30 Uhr morgens. Alle Mitarbeitenden waren sehr freundlich. Meine Erfahrung war daher sehr gut.

The worst experience ever No services, no communication, no flexibility, no nothing in a few words. And besides they explain you with a big smile that you should wash the car and « passer l aspirateur » otherwise they will charge it 80 !!! Of course they are much more expensive than the others. Fuyez !!
Drive on holiday, Ponta Delgada, Azores The smart car is somewhat a good choice on this island. Easy to drive and park. But to stay polite, the company is very picky, so check carefully every small scratches on your car before to sign and do not forget to take pictures as they are counting every new scratches when you return and will charge you for any additional one. Additionally, very slow and unpleasant staff

Wir hatten für 6 Tage ein Fahrzeug über Check24 bei Drive on Holidays gebucht. Die Abholung hat ohne Probleme geklappt. Lediglich eine Kaution per Kreditkarte musste hinterlegt werden. Der Fiat500 war von dem Zustand und der Sauberkeit super. Wir hatten während dem Urlaub keine Probleme. Bevor wir den Wagen abgegeben haben, saugten wir die Fußmatten einmal ab und haben den Wagen mit dem Hochdruckreiniger sauber gemacht. Da wir den Mietwagen um 04:00 nachts zurück gebracht haben, wurden wir sogar noch von der Station zum Flughafen gefahren. Alles hat reibungslos geklappt und ich würde wieder dort buchen. Sehr nette und kompetente Mitarbeiterinnen dort bezahlt haben wir ungefähr 300
I hate to leave a bad review but this was a disaster. I was delayed in Newark, NJ by a day. I sent a message to the customer service email on the website. I explained the delay and asked them to hold the car. Needless to say I arrive a day late and they have rented my car to someone else and they had nothing else to offer. If this had been a few weeks earlier there wouldn t have been a car to rent at all so I was thankful to have something to drive from one of their competitors. Of course same day rentals and larger cars equates to higher prices which I had to absorb. One final comment. This rental agency is not located at the airport so you have to add the extra step of getting there before you discover you don t have anything to drive. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
Avoid this place at all costs. The reviews others post about their cleaning fee scam are real. We returned our car with minimal dirt on the outside and were told we d get charged $50 if we didn t take it to a car wash. I have never had to wash a rental before returning it. We went and got it washed, then they barely looked at the car when we brought it back. Overall horrendous experience, wish I read the reviews before renting from them. Stay away and rent from someone else. Also, the airport drop off and pick up location is a long walk from the airport exit. Leave plenty of time before your departure to walk back to the airport from their drop off
The initial pickup spot is about 1/2 a mile walk from the airport. It s the furthest spot from arrival. From there, you have to call the company for them to come pick you up. It took over 1 hour for us to go through the process to initially get the car. Upon return, Luis Rego, who claimed to be the manager, said our car had excessive dirt since it rained and the roads were muddy around the island - we did not go on roads other than the main roads. Not only did the company have us drive 10 minutes to a car wash, they had two other sets of people drive as well. The other option was to pay him 50 euros for the company to wash the car. I would avoid this place, as they are ready to scam.
Location dune voiture pour une semaine à Sao Miguel. Accueil très chaleureux et professionnel. Véhicule propre et en très bon état. À noter quune caution sur CB de 1500 est demandé (rendu le jour du retour du véhicule). Un service de navette est possible jusquà laéroport, même en dehors des heures douverture de lagence.
They were horrible and the lady lied to our face. The voicemail says they work/airport pink up till 9:30. We arrived at 9pm and van never showed so we caught a taxi to the offsite and no one was there. The next day the lady told her boss she was there and we never showed or called (we called 15x) and then we showed her a video of us there with it closed. She lied. They also made us get a car wash before return and told us the vehicle has to be pristine condition, even one of the workers said they are nuts about it and will charge us for anything so we got a full car wash before return. Video your car condition before you take it. I would NEVER use again. I plan to share this review everywhere as others should know.
Empresa de baixo nível, levantamento da viatura efetuado as 14h e entrega tem de ser feita ate as 10h, não informam de nada e cobram uma taxa de 40 extra. Roubo autêntico
We do NOT recommend this car rental place. First of all, it is a van ride away you have to call them to pick you up which can be difficult if you are from the US and not able to use your phone upon arrival. The. Van pick-up location is at the farthest spot in the parking lots meaning that you are walking a far way with your luggage. We did not check the reviews ahead of time my bad and would have seen that they are slow to sign you in and then get you in your car. The BIGGEST problem of all was when we returned the car in mint condition and they claimed we had scratched the front bumper and it would cost us 100 euro! We are sure we did not put that small scratch on the bumper. In reading the other reviews, I see that this may be their business model. This was the third car we rented in the Azores over a two week period and the only company that gave us problems. Our advice rent from a Company located at the airport and avoid Drive On Holidays.
This place is a complete scam. When we returned the car, there was a scratch on it that we didnt know had happened. We were not terribly surprised given how small the cars clearance is compared to how big the curbs were everywhere, but we thought no problem because we had purchased the insurance ( 237 - more than the cost of renting the car for a week). But apparently if you dont file a police report for even a minor scratch, the insurance is invalidated. They had no explanation for what one should do if they didnt know the scratch happened until turning the car in and or if the police dont answer the number they give you. I asked, since I just learned of the scratch, if I could file a report then so the insurance would be valid, and they said no because the car is already in the lot (?!). I asked if I could have the keys back and return the car later, since it wasnt technically due for another hour and a half, and they also said no with no explanation as to why not. Basically they do everything to make sure the damage is not covered by the insurance and they know theres nothing you can do to stop them. Given this and the inconvenient location off of airport premises, I would strongly advise against using this company for car rentals in the Azores!
