Fantastic experience hiring a car for a few days. We went the day before we wanted the car to ask for prices. The lady was super friendly and in no time we were offered a Peugeot 208, insurance and km included for 38€/day (hired for three days; deposit in cash, no credit card required). No hidden fees and both of us were added as drivers without additional costs. Baby car seat added at a fair price. The car was practically brand new, spotless inside and drove like a charm up those steep hills. Extended the hire by a day without any issues, return of the car easy and got deposit back in full. Again, fantastic experience, highly recommend this car hire.
We had a fantastic experience with guys from Insular Car in Madeira. The staff was friendly, they met us at the arrivals parking lot where was the car (we rented Citroen C3 in an excellent condition), the rental process was clear and easy. The car was clean as well and handled the island's terrain very well. There were no hidden fees and they offer a second driver for free. Drop off was quick and at the same parking lot, where guys from Insular Car were waiting for us. We needed to move forward the drop-off time a bit and there was no problem at all to do so. WE HIGHLY recommend for a hassle-free car rental. Five stars!
We rented the car through our hotel Dom Pedro in Machico, Madeira for three day good price includes basic insurance the gentleman came over with the car when they said it would be ready went over all instructions answered all questions we got a Citroen C3 automatic 1.0 great little car with enough power easy return need a car in Machico this is the place to rent.
I phoned from UK to enquire about renting a small car for 5 days, two weeks before our holiday. Was offered a fair price by Insularcar, so went ahead with phone booking. Car was dropped off at our hotel on correct day, at correct time; rental man checked car with me, all fine. We used the car (Nissan Micra) everyday for 5 days, to see Madeira. Car went well, drove easy. Car was picked up 5 days later by the rental company, agent checked car with me, all good again. Rental process was very smooth, price fair, rental employees friendly. I was very pleased with the service, no problems, and had a great holiday. What more can you ask?
We’ve got new car with only 5K mileage. Pick up and drop off were very easy and smoothly. They don’t block security deposit what is very pleasant.

I do not recommend this rental. I booked via Rentalcars with full insurance and !!full tank!! However, they gave me car with 1/3 tank. And it is really almost impossible to return the car back with the same fuel level. The car which I received was awfull, brakes K.O., tires K.O. and seemed that also engine was not ok (“check engine” control appeared many times). I understand that on this kind of roads it is normal that the cars are in bad condition after 100k km, but the rental was not so cheap and I expected a lot better quality, at least full tank!

Experiência maravilhosa! Descobrimos a Insularcar através de uma sra que estava a passar na rua e que nos recomendou, uma vez que é das empresas mais baratas e não precisavam de cartão de crédito. Correu tudo muito bem. Foram muito rápidos na entrega e devolução do carro, ágeis e sem grandes burocracias. Éramos 2 pessoas e atribuíram-nos um Peugeot 208 recente, pagamos 35 /dia (inclui seguro contra tudo) + taxa de entrega do carro no aeroporto 20 + caução de 200 em dinheiro, que foi devolvida no fim. Sem dúvida que se e quando voltarmos, contactaremos a insularcar novamente.

I recommend this rental company. Good contact via WhatsApp before renting. The car was booked in advance and I received it immediately on site. I took it with full insurance without a deposit. Payment in cash or card (may be debit). If you take it without insurance, a deposit is required. Nice service. Everything was sorted out very quickly. Returning the car was also hassle-free.

Fast and uncomplicated car rental. 245 for 7 days, including insurance + 200 deposit in cash. Video documentation of the car during handover was also permitted. Car was in tip top condition (Peugeot 208 brand new with 7000km)!!
Super Service und freundliche Mitarbeiter!
Wir hatten sieben Tage einen Leihwagen und waren mit dem Auto und dem Service sehr zufrieden. Es lief alles reibungslos. Wir haben den Wagen vorher über das Internet reserviert ansonsten hätten wir wohl auch kein Auto mehr bekommen. In der Hauptsaison macht es also Sinn zu reservieren.
Wir waren mehr als zufrieden. Absolut empfehlenswert. Unser Auto war tadellos und die Übergabe mit kurzer Einführung war super angenehm und problemlos. Wir bekamen einige wertvolle Tipps und Informationen. Auch die Rückgabe war absolut problemlos.
El coche estaba muy bien y no hemos tenido ningún tipo de problema, ni en la entrega ni en la devolución. Muy profesionales, repetiremos sin duda si volvemos a la isla.
Ich habe das Auto über Holiday Check Cars gemietet,komplett mit Versicherung. Vor Ort bei der Übergabe sehr freundliches Personal. Die Dame sprach sogar deutsch, womit ich nie gerechnet hätte. Alles lief sehr entspannt ab, das Auto war auch top in Ordnung . Rückgabe war auch kein Problem.... Gerne wieder .... Top Service zum fairen Preis....
Unkomplizierte Autoanmietung direkt auf dem Parkplatz vor dem Flughafen. Wir bekamen eine ausführliche Einweisung in das Fahrzeug. Es wurden keine zusätzlichen Versicherungen aufgeschwatzt, wie ich es bei anderen Autovermietern erlebt habe. Auch bei der Rückgabe gab es keine Probleme bezüglich eventueller neuer Schäden. Alles in allem kann ich Insulacar uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

Die einfachste und unkomplizierteste Autovermietung direkt am Flughafen. Übernahme und Rückgabe via Mitarbeiter vor Ort haben beide weniger als 10 Min. gedauert. Kreditkarte muss angegeben werden, aber sie wird nicht belastet. Sehr freundliche, kompetente und hilfsbereite Mitarbeiter, die tiptop Englisch sprechen. Gerne wieder!
Absolut zufrieden! Haben uns zwar kurz orientieren müssen, weil die Übergabe nicht im Gebäude am Schalter sondern direkt draußen am Parkplatz durchgeführt wurde, war aber nach einem kurzen Telefonat geklärt. Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich, schnell und bezüglich Schäden usw. sehr kulant und entspannt. Rückgabe war ebenfalls schnell und unkompliziert, obwohl wir 1h vor dem Zeitpunkt dort waren. 6/5 Sterne
Insgesamt eine seriöse Firma, alles hat gut geklappt. Das Auto war fast neu und sehr gepflegt und hat uns alle Berge hoch- und runtergebracht trotz der wenigen PS. Die Mitarbeiterin, die uns das Auto gegeben und es wieder zurückgenommen hat, war im Kundenkontakt zu Beginn schnell genervt und etwas unfreundlich, hat sich dann aber entschuldigt. Ansonsten top.

Car ok but several issues with the gear box but I brought the car back with a full tank by mistake and they didnt try to contact me to give me back 40 ( got the car with only 1/3 in it...) So it was very expensive

Hatten über Check24 ein Fahrzeug gemietet. Es entsprach der gebuchten Fahrzeugklasse. Sehr guter Über- und Rückgabeservice, nette Mitarbeiter. Waren sehr zufrieden.
Alles prima. Gerne wieder. Das Auto war alt. 150000 Kilometer und hatte sehr viel Kratzer und Beulen. Macht nichts. Dafür war es günstig.
Alles Top und unkompliziert. Habe direkt vor Ort ein Auto gemietet. Sehr nette Mitarbeiterinnen. Hatte einen Clio, der hat für Madeira total gereicht. Würde hier immer wieder ein Auto mieten.
Über Check 24. Hatten am Anfang ein sehr demoliertes Fahrzeug. Versagte am nächsten Tag den Dienst. Der Austausch erfolgte recht zügig, mussten allerdings zum Anbieter zu Fuß gehen, weil er telefonisch nicht erreichbar war. Besser ist es wohl, die Handynummer der Zentrale zu nehmen. Der Ersatzwagen und die Rückgabe waren problemlos.
Alles war perfekt. Sehr kurze Wartezeit und Abwicklungszeit. Super nettes Personal. Unkompliziert. Sauber und bedacht auf die Einhaltung von den derzeitigen Corona-Regeln. Auto war auch vollkommen in Ordnung und wir hatten keinerlei Probleme damit die ganze Insel zu erkunden. Gerne wieder!

Everything ok. When the brake pad was ending they changed our car for a better one. No problem with returnig deposit. Full recomend.
In July 2021, prices are higher than in the residents hotel. Lack of availability of cheap class A and B cars. They expect an additional deposit of approximately E250
Same story happened like with user Petr Bullir. Highly not reccommend

Hatten über Check24 reserviert. Unkomplizierte An- und Abgabe des Fahrzeuges. Hatten auch eine Vollkasko mit allem gebucht, sodass es keine Probleme geben konnte. Es wurde auch nicht versucht uns noch eine zusätzliche Versicherung aufzuschwatzen, was sonst häufig vorkommt. Daher sehr zu empfehlen, wobei ich nicht weiß, ob er auch so gut ist, wenn man direkt vor Ort mietet.
Excelente serviço prestado por toda a equipa, desde o atendimento na entrega e recolha das viaturas, ao profissionalismo na elaboração dos contratos finalizando mencionando a simpatia demonstrada por todos. Recomendo plenamente como sendo uma das melhores na sua área.

B e w a r e, this place appears to be very shonky. Although the receptionist is friendly and helpful, I can not believe the free upgrade to a Renault Clio was not purposely planned for me, a naive Tourist not to suspect a potential car problem. I was told that the fuel gauge shows quarter full and should be returned that way. Well, here lays the engineered fault as no matter how much fuel is filled into the tank, the gauge never shows quarter full. I filled in 23 liters of fuel (over half a tank) and the fuel gauge pointer did not move. When I told them on return of the rental car, the answer was, that no one had ever told them before. I believe this business is not to be trusted and want to warn others, before they loose money as well. In summary, the car was a lemon anyhow as, the navigation system and display was operational faulty and caused loss of my time and instilled frustration, the air condition system totally ineffective, the car has no roll back protection if you stand at an inclined intersection, the engine had to be reved up continuously to cope on steep slopes (which is the make up of roads in Madeira), the boot opener did not work. Had a wonderful trip to Magical Madeira earlier this month made even better with the car case we hired from Insular after reading through the reviews on here. We booked through the economy car hire now zest as the rates were very reasonable. We hired for 5 days at cost of £68 for a small car. We took the extra insurance from economy car hire for £12.50, to include tyres and undersurface of the car. 20 euros paid locally for a child booster seat. I was greeted by Jorge their rep on arrival who explained everything n I signed the agreement. He asked for extra insurance which I refused as I had already taken one from zest. No hard sell. Tool us to our car which was parked outside. It was a newish (abt a year old) Renault Clio. Looked brand new to me. No marks on the car n tyres looked new. The car had an in-built satnav as well which meant that I didnt need to use my phone as satnav. The car drove very well even on the very steep climbs to Monte in 1st gear. The return was seamless as well at the airport and the deposit of 800 euro on credit card was cancelled. So very happy to recommend Insular. I have no affiliation to them. Just a happy customer.
Buena atención y el mejor precio! Había reservado un Nissan Micra y me dieron un Renault Clio de 2015 muy bien de todo salvo los frenos que generan una tacto extraño al exigir el máximo de ellos... les llamé al número de asistencia y me dieron una explicación y al parecer es problema específico de ese año en ese modelo (es posible ya que yo poseo vehículos Renault desde hace mas de 12 años y no había notado eso antes) pero lo importante es que nunca fallaron. Al momento de la entrega todo perfecto, ningún problema, reserva de tarjeta de crédito cancelada y todo genial! Recomiendo esta empresa!
Un loueur de voiture fiable, sans mauvaises surprises et qui en plus en réserve de bonnes. A notre arrivée, nous avons été sur-classés et le GPS avait été paramétré dans notre langue. Durant la semaine, lantenne a été volée et nous avons vidé la batterie en laissant les phares allumés. Insularcar sest montré très compréhensif et nous a même gracieusement dépannés... Fiable et un vrai sens commercial.
