Dreadful experience. Avoid this rental company. Over €1000 in false charges on return for a missing charging cable on a hybrid car. After 4 complaints the money was refunded but the staff accusations of stealing a cable from a compartment in the boot of the car was insane. This has happen before with a simple google search. Beware. I’ll never use this outfit again.

I had the best rental experience at this location. Joao made the process incredibly smooth—picking up the car was easy, and he took the time to thoroughly review all pre-existing damage with me. He also shared some great local recommendations, which I really appreciated. Returning the car was just as hassle-free, and there were no unexpected charges, even though I didn’t purchase extra insurance from Avis. Overall, an excellent experience—highly recommend!

It's disappointing that a reputable company like AVIS provides such poor service at Faro Airport. I had a scratch on the car, which I was prepared to pay for, and my insurance was ready to cover. However, AVIS repeatedly added unexplained charges on top of their own estimate and failed to provide any justification, making it impossible for my insurance to reimburse the costs. To make matters worse, they eventually stopped responding to my inquiries altogether. The result? A significant waste of both time and money. I expected better transparency and customer support from a company of this stature.

I booked using Avios. I had to 'check-in' in advance which I could not do through the website (because I had booked through avios and my reference was not recognised) so I had to call - I should have been told this before wasting time trying to check-in online. On arrival I was informed the excess was €3000 and I would have to pay nearly €300 if I wanted to lower this excess - almost the same cost as the entire rental. Finally when I returned the car I received an invoice for €253 for a variety of services, only one of which (additional driver for €40) I asked for or was aware of.

DO NOT USE THEM! Similar to other reviews they are not to be trusted. We had our flight cancelled so tried to phone and extend contract - they didn’t answer the phone. Tried to charge us EUR150 for 6 hours extra when 4 days was EUR65!! Then have tried to charge us for damage when the person at check in said the car was ‘perfect’. This cost also included ‘idle time’ when they will not repair the car. Not to be trusted and DO NOT USE.

Highly recommend Avis. They were reliable and efficient and excellent value for money!! The lady who checked us in was very friendly and informative. We paid a small holding deposit which we expected as we went for insurance separately to Avis. We received a lovely new vehicle which was roomy, comfortable and clean. As we would always do, we took photos and a video of the car upon collecting it, as a standard measure. When returning the car, this was another easy, stress free and efficient experience. We dropped the car off and the representative did his check of the vehicle whilst we were present. No issues were highlighted and he signed off the inspection sheet there and then, which also confirmed we would receive our deposit back. Happy to say we received the holding fee back immediately. Thank you to the Avis team for making our car hire experience in Portugal a good one.

PLEASE TAKE PHOTOS OF YOUR VEHICLE BEFORE DRIVING AWAY. I rented a car from the Lisbon airport and the employee (as kind as he was) told me there was some damage on the driver side (scratches, dents and dings) and that I don't need to worry about it because everything was noted on the contract. The airport location was very busy and felt very rushed. I did not take additional photos of the vehicle because I was assured by the employee that the car was in good working order. When I returned the car in Faro the employee who checked me in noted two minor scratches on the rim (the driver side wheel). While I understand he was doing his job and was just the messenger, I was upset because this damage is clearly part of the damage that was noted on the contract from the previous accident (not specified however). The company charged me 300 Euro for these two minor scratches. I was also charged a "on the ground idle time" fee, which when asked about the employee was unable to answer and said that because the car was being returned with "damages" it cant be rented out (even though they rented it to me with the same damages). This was an additional 80 Euros. I chose Avis because I trusted them and they are a recognized brand. While they are more expensive than the local companies I had the hope they would provide a level of service that matched their global reputation. I was sadly mistaken and am extremely disappointed with my experience. The poor communication and the surprise fees for damage that was pre-existing is unacceptable and I consider sharp practice. Truthfully I left the return drop off thinking I was just scammed. I didn’t want to believe the other reviews as this is a worldwide company, but they are right and you need to be careful if renting from Lisbon/Faro. I will not rent from Avis ever again and I strongly encourage travelers to rent from a different company if possible. Riley ****UPDATE FOUR MONTHS LATER**** Avis reached out to me and told me to contact their social media channels. Which I did. I then proceeded to provide all of the information they asked for and explain my side of the story. They ignored me and proceeded to charge my credit card. Because this situation occurred overseas I was in a bind. Avis North America basically told me to go talk to Avis in Europe, which to me was a really poor answer. Avis Europe has yet to get back to me. So long story short, Avis is a scam. Be so careful if you have to rent from them. I truly believe some of the cheaper companies are better. Just because Avis is a recognized brand does not mean they are better. I will literally rent from anyone else in the future. Thanks Avis, for giving me one less choice when it comes to my car rental needs.

Nous avons loué une voiture pour notre arrivée du 5 novembre et au retour le 12 novembre il me disent quil manque la plage arrière. À savoir que mon mari leur a signalé à larrivée le 5 novembre quil manquait la plage arrière que cétait pas très bien par rapport à nos valises qui étaient en pleine vue. Ils nont rien voulu savoir ils ne mont rien fait signer et ils mont débiter sur mon compte 574 pour une plage arrière. À savoir quune plage arrière jai regardé coûte 120 . Faites bien attention je ne pense pas que cest la première fois quils font le même coup à dautres loueur.

We booked the car at Faro Airport in Portugal. They had us pay deposit, but after returning the car they didn t give us our money back, we sent an email to them and received only the replay that they will contact us, but after a week they didn t contact us and didn t pay the deposit back.

Our initial impression of the staff at this office was they were not friendly and helpful. For example, an agent was chewing gum while serving customers and was not that engaged. There was a very unhappy customer who had had endless problems with his rental. For all the trouble they go through identifying every little scratch and bump. We were provided with a car that had a rattle near the engine whenever you accelerated; which made us question the safety of the car. We returned the vehicle a few hours late and were expecting to be charged a late fee of 27 Euros. Instead, they recalculated the price and it cost us over double the price we had booked on Expedia. When we returned to the office to question the charge. The agent at the preferred customer desk was not interested in understanding our concerns. She simply told us that because the car was returned late, the price had been recalculated as per the Budget rental agreement. When we showed her the Expedia booking document with the relevant clause, she was not interested and told us to take it up with Expedia. It became a bit of a shouting match in the office. I had read the rental terms and conditions provided by Expedia before starting our holiday. Unless you are prepared to go through the rental agreement with a fine-tooth comb when picking up the car, avoid using this Budget otherwise you will be in for a nasty surprise.

I rented a car from Avis in July, but they incorrectly charged my card for someone else s car hire. After months of investigation, Avis finally concluded this amount relates to someone else s contract but still has yet to refund me. Very disappointed with the poor customer service and lack of resolution. Being charged for a service I did not use is unacceptable and quite concerning how this can even happen. This matter had been handled very very poorly from everyone involved.

Big scammers - extremely dodgy operation. Within 15 minutes of leaving we received an incident report for pre existing damage with an already produced quote for damages. In 15 minutes? They are running a scam to charge you for existing damage to their cars. The so called owner (David) appears to own other franchises in Portugal (refer to Lisboa Oriente reviews), this is clearly a set up to fleece customers out of money for non existent damage after they have dropped off the vehicle. They don t respond to emails nor provide any supporting information (I m still waiting for my rental agreement). Dispute the charges and refer this business to the Portuguese and EU consumer authorities, I have with mine and already received a response. They will respond to your poor review and advise you to contact them directly - good luck with that they don t respond. It s blatant fraud and the Avis Budget Group should be ashamed to have such individuals attached to their brand.

Man hatte angeblich keins und wollte auch so nicht helfen. Es hatte keiner Lust und unfreundlich waren die auch noch!

Nous nous sommes rapprochés d Avis pour la location de notre voiture car c est le seul loueur qui ne demande pas une carte de « crédit » pour la caution. Nous avons réservés sur le site directement en choisissant une Clio ou véhicule similaire pour 1 semaine pour 178 ( vraiment le plus basique sans assurance car la carte Visa en a déjà une ). À notre grande surprise, sur place nous avons été surclassé et nous avons eu une Kia Sportage dans un très bon état avec - de 20000km ( cependant les gens qui loue pensent qu ils peuvent rouler comme des brutes et faire n importe quoi avec ) Contrairement aux avis, je m attendais à avoir des frais supplémentaire par x et y raisons, mais nous voilà 1 semaine et demi après et toujours rien ( j ai bien reçu le mail de confirmation du véhicule rendu ) Merci encore :)

El sábado 27 debido a un aterrizaje de emergencia de otro avión en el aeropuerto de Faro, nuestro vuelo tuvo un retraso y no hubo forma de contactar por teléfono con nadie , ni en España ni en la oficina de alquiler de Faro, para avisar del retraso y ver qué teníamos que hacer. Nos sentimos totalmente abandonados a nuestra suerte. Cuando pude llegar a la oficina del aeropuerto de Faro el personal me confirmó que la oficina cierra siempre a la hora prevista independiente de lo que ocurra en el aeropuerto y los retrasos que se puedan producir. Para aumentar el stress la oficina de Avis en Faro cierra a las 22:00 mientras que todas las demás cierran a las 24:00 horas.

Terrible after sales service, hired a car from faro aiport and returned it a week later without a scratch three hours before they open, then get hit with a damage claim saying i have dented the rear luggage door, totally false claim as i had not hit a thing in the car, i emailed suggesting they check the cameras as the car was delivered three hours prior to opening, but no response to two emails i sent, avoid.

Really poor experience. When I turned up it was late at night and the vehicle I had CONTRACTED to hire was not available. The only available vehicle (or so I was told) involved an additional charge of 15/day. Given that it was getting on towards midnight by now I has little choice but to agree. I spoke to the manager on the phone (he had gone home and left the branch with 2 young girls) and he did agree that I could return the vehicle tank empty and my rental agreement was marked as such. I am now back in the UK and find that I have been charged for A) A tank of fuel 77.96 + VAT. B) A cleaning surcharge 65 + VAT. C) A surcharge amount 56.26 + VAT. In addition the additional charge of 15/day for the vehicle did not include VAT so I have incurred an extra cost of 73.75 for this. I would also add that the vehicle was returned in a dirty state because there was a large storm at the end of my first week that deposited large amounts of sand/dust on all the vehicles where I was staying. There was nothing I could do about this. It was not caused by myself not looking after the vehicle. I am currently appealing against these additional costs and if I cannot get a satisfactory answer will ask my credit card company to intervene.

Once again there was no final bill because the system was apparently not working. The employee told us that everything was okay with the car. A week later the credit card was charged without any information or final bill. This happened to us for the second time with Avis Portugal. Check24 couldnt help either. We will never rent a car from them again.

I rented an electric vehicle from Avis Faro intending to drive from Faro to Porto. I asked the staff about charging stations and he said there were many of them in large cities. I thought that meant it would be easy and straightforward to use. It is not. Im now white knuckling this drive. And its no longer a relaxing holiday. Apparently, you need to be registered to use the power stations in Portugal and they all want a card that takes 3-7 days and a Portuguese address to acquire. I went to multiple charging stations with no luck. Called the charging station company. They didnt want to help me and told me Avis should have helped. But directed me to get this app called Miio on my phone which can allow you to register and pay through the app. You CANNOT just show up and pay for power. I called Avis and was never able to get through to them. I download the app, but its hard to understand and it starts wanting me to subscribe for monthly use. I cannot get it working and now the charging station is fully occupied. I cut my trip in Lagos short knowing I had only 100 KMs of battery left and I needed to get to my next hotel which was 77 kms away. I had no more KMs to waste. These are the decisions you need to make when you dont have access to a charge. I go 30 km under the speed limit to preserve precious battery. I roll into town on 10% battery, and STILL cannot charge at the local station. I ask for help from a stranger with the app and he tells me the app is broken so was giving me an error message when it did manage to connect and start charging. 12 hours later, I have a full charge. Dont worry, Ill need to repeat this process in 300 KMs. Needless to say, Avis did not help or prepare me for the electric charging infrastructure in this country. I will now be anxious AF until I return this thing back in Porto. They should be REQUIRED to give you a registration card to use the charging stations or at least an adapter to use a regular house plug. They also didnt include the car manual in the car.

Having usually had a good experience of Avis in a number of countries, our experience of Avis Faro Airport has left us disappointed to say the least. In fact, worse than disappointed. The member of staff when we picked up the vehicle was friendly, but when we went to the car (almost new - 2000kms was how it was described by that member of staff) we noticed a number of scratches and marks. Going back into the Office she said take photos. (When we were waiting to be served another customer came back in, having gone to his car and discovered damage; he was told take photos - and further remarks to him implied all would be fine when he returned the car). So we took a number of photos. When we returned the car at the end of the hire period, the member of staff was distinctly unfriendly - almost hostile - and went around the car with what looked like a small magnifying glass and a short ruler. Each time we pointed out that we had a photo of the mark, she was dismissive to say the least. We were concerned at our treatment, and went back into the Office where we spoke to the lady, who had served us several days earlier, to express our concern. Again we were reminded have you taken photos? Now we have returned home we are disgusted to receive via e-mail a significant invoice for damage. WHICH WE DID NOT CAUSE. To say we rather saw this coming - or feared what would be coming - is true. And we will contest this most strongly. I do not like fraud - and what Avis have done smacks of fraud.

Good evening . We have just arrived from our trip to Portugal and I am leaving a negative review in order to warn about possible dishonest actions on the part of Avis agents. I booked a car with an automatic transmission through the Indigo company by phone a week before the trip. Upon arrival at the Avis desk the agent told me that they did not have a car for that price and offered me a car that was about 4 times more expensive than what was indicated in the email from the reservation company Indigo . I was taken aback because I didn t have that amount of money on my bank card. I tried to show the email in which clearly had written the type of car and the rental amount, but the agent said that it was Indigos fault. Moreover, as it turned out later, the agent gave us failure to appear and we were forced to pay a cancellation fee ( or it would be more accurate to say that the money was debited from my bank account. )That day , my family and I had to take a taxi to our destination. My mood was completely ruined.It does seem the agent was trying to upsell / make money from me . By the way, he refused to introduce himself when I asked his name. All this happened on July 5th 2024 at 10 am. I absolutely do not recommend this company.

Booket a Renault Captur, since we are 4 people. The plane got cancelled, and we got rebooked the next day. Avis wont let us get the car the next day, no refund, and they dont have any car in that size for the next day. Strange, since I am pretty sure they do.. Thanks for ruining all our plans, and make us use public transport with big bags and kids.

Avis/Budget is a scam. Stay away from it. I rent a car in Faro airport and got into a scam when return the car. The guy there started to check every few inches of car and pointed out that there was a tiny scratch on the edge of one tire trim. The car was full of catch when I received it. Even when I tried to explain to him it was not me who made the scratch, and it was there before but no one could notice because it is too small and not visible when you are not looking at correct angle. He insisted it was me who made it and charged me 199 EUR for that scratch. I rejected his claim and refuses to signed. But then Avis/Budget still charged my credit card without any customer service follow up.

My absolute worst rental car experience ever. When returning and I unpacked the car, the staff sat down on their knees hidden from my view in front of the front wheel for a long time. When I had finished unpacking, he waved to me and showed scratches on the rims which, upon later analysis of the pictures, proved to be impossible to occur logically. The scratches went in different directions and extended 3 cm into the rim, while the front surface was relatively undamaged. Cost at least 240. Avoid these scoundrels at all costs.

I am a regular user of Avis car rental, and my recent experience with AVIS Faro airport was VERY POOR. I used the express check-out to collect the key, and was told everything was fully paid (including fully covered nil-excess insurance) through British Airways Holiday package in line with my understanding. I returned the car on time with full tank of fuel, then was issued an invoice with additional fee of 102 euros under (location surcharge, WDW daily charges, Supplemento etc.) They were never explained to me before, and they have already taken the amounts through my credit card, which was signed for the pre-authorized deposit purpose. Now I am going through the annoying process of disputing and claiming the amounts back, but no responses are currently being received from this branch. AVOID THIS BRANCH AT ALL COST.

The car and the service were good, but man it was so expensive!!! Only later did I realize that on the internet you can find many rental cars at the airport or nearby for a fraction of the price! I tried to terminate the rental with AVIS early, but they refused (wonder why ). I feel so stupid not to have checked in advance, please don t be like me! PS: and eventually they charged me an extra day ( 120) because I returned the car half an hour late. I know it is my mistake that I misunderstood the return time, but I let the reader judge whether it s fair. Watch out: if you make a little mistake they will prey on it, that s the type of company that they are (and by the number of negative reviews they get, it seems that they don t even care)

Ik heb recentelijk een auto gehuurd bij Avis en mijn ervaring was uitstekend van begin tot eind. Het reserveringsproces was eenvoudig en snel via hun gebruiksvriendelijke website. Bij aankomst op het verhuurstation werd ik hartelijk verwelkomd door vriendelijk en professioneel personeel. De auto die ik kreeg, was in perfecte staat, schoon en goed onderhouden. Het voertuig voldeed aan al mijn verwachtingen en zorgde voor een comfortabele en zorgeloze rit. Het inleveren van de auto was net zo eenvoudig als het ophalen, zonder verborgen kosten of verrassingen. Wat Avis echt onderscheidt, is hun uitzonderlijke klantenservice. Het personeel was altijd bereid om te helpen en beantwoordde al mijn vragen met een glimlach. Ik voelde me gewaardeerd als klant, wat tegenwoordig zeldzaam is. Ik zou Avis zonder aarzeling aanbevelen aan iedereen die op zoek is naar een betrouwbare en klantgerichte autoverhuurder. Via SunnyCars heb ik een auto gehuurd in Faro. De auto kregen we van Avis. Nadat ik de auto had gehuurd, de recensies gelezen en hierdoor een beetje huiverig. Ging alles goed? Nee, zeker niet. Maar het is wel opgelost en we hadden een fijne auto die we meekregen. We hebben lang moeten wachten bij aankomst. Ik had alles al gereserveerd en betaald en dacht eigenlijk dat het hierdoor nog een formaliteit was. Er waren diverse balies open, ik moest een nummer trekken en het bleek dat er verschillende categorieën waren. Hierdoor gebeurde het dat mensen die later binnen kwamen, eerder aan de beurt waren. Toen we eindelijk aan de beurt waren, bleek er een storing te zijn in het systeem. Vervelend, dat kan gebeuren. Ik had echter iemand die er naar mijn idee niet lang werkte en geen idee had wat er verder moest gebeuren, want ik kreeg de mededeling om op een later moment terug te komen. Waarop ik duidelijk aangaf dat zeker niet van plan te zijn en dat het geregeld moest worden. Toen kreeg ik de mogelijkheid dat er handmatig een formulier werd ingevuld. Uiteindelijk waren we de laatste personen die weg waren en had het ongeveer een uur geduurd om een vooraf gereserveerde en betaalde auto op te halen. Ook met het handmatige formulier ging trouwens iets niet goed (foutieve cijfers opgeschreven), waardoor ik de volgende dag (nadat ik een paar keer was gebeld) terug ben gegaan naar het kantoor. Ik voelde me namelijk niet prettig om mijn creditcard gegevens te geven telefonisch. Daar aangekomen, kreeg ik dezelfde Avis-medewerker, die me uiteindelijk een contract gaf om te tekenen, maar die was van een ander... Uiteindelijk het juiste contract gekregen. De auto die ik kreeg, een Opel Mokka, was een hele fijne auto met maar 11.000 kilometer op de teller. Door een samenloop van omstandigheden en een medewerker die naar mijn idee echt iet voldoende was opgeleid om dit zelfstandig op te pakken, duurde het lang én moest ik de volgende dag terug rijden vanaf mijn vakantieadres. Ongemakkelijk: zeker. Maar niet zodanig dramatisch dat ik ze niet voldoende sterren geef. De auto was erg fijn, ik werd steeds netjes te woord gestaan en het terug brengen van de auto ging echt makkelijk en snel. Even de medewerker goed opleiden en het zou 5 sterren waard zijn.

En voulant gagner du temps avec le quickpass, jai été contactée par un téléconseiller qui ma signifié une information manquante, et en a profité pour me proposer de menvoyer une estimation dassurance, qui en réalité ma été facturée lors de la récupération des clés, avec un débit sur mon compte bancaire 1h après, sans aucun recours possible puisque lagence et le SAV étaient injoignables!!!!! Yes, there are slightly cheaper places but I find the service often isnt as good or there are hidden charges. Not with Avis. Always seem to have new cars, have knowledgeable staff, competitive prices and very easy returns ( I use the app its often cheaper, join preferred you sometimes get extra discounts, always have your own top up insurance just in case someone hits you in a supermarket car park and just drives off... it does happen...voice of experience...). Id happily hire again at Faro Airport, fully recommended.

I am a big fan of Avis and the Preferred scheme. I use Avis whenever I can. This time was a good experience, as ever. But it was the first time I tried to use the App to skip the queue and it didn t work. I had to go to the desk. (Who was very friendly and efficient, and there was not a queue, so that was fine) But I gather that the train u couldn t use the skip the queue was because I hadnt prepaid. I woukd have done, had I realised. Do perhaps the booking website could mahe this clearer. But thank you for a good, consistent, service over quite a few years.

Having arrived at the Budget office in Faro, I was told I needed to pay around 340 for additional insurance and the money was authorised from my card. On returning the vehicle I was charged another 175 and no one could tell me what the charge was for. I now have £406 taken from my card which is a different figure from all the previous amounts and I have no idea how these costs were calculated. I feel your charges are no transparent and staff have no idea about explaining things to customers. I m not happy and would not recommend this company.

They closed before flights arrived. They didnt leave or send any instructions for self checkin. Next day customer service only works Monday to Friday, no way to contact them. The next day the staff pretended they were open the night before and then tried to get us to pay for the booking but a lot more expensive. They refused to give a full breakdown of costs until after we paid! So we went next door to Europcar.

Never again. The citroen c4 class turned out to be an Audi a1...not even 2 pieces get in the trunk. Everything was supposed to cost extra in the end I didnt even get a confirmation of the cancellation. Next door there was a bigger car for half the price. ... Easy to book, & great car, UPDATED - we were very concerned that we were being charged lots of Extras as we had a draft invoice which didnt make much sence & could imply we were paying a lot more, and the invoice was in Portuguese so we had no real idea whether we were being charged more. However Customer services confirmed that all was OK & that there was nothing else to pay, the deposit would be released soon. SO happy in the end but we are not he only people to have this & when we had a £200 or so deposit taken on a £70 booking it should have been explained a LOT better up front, we are still not sure why the deposit was so big, the petrol side (full to full) was about £70, no idea what the rest was for.

The staff at Avis Faro Airport used to be happy and engaging. In the past 6 months this hasnt been the case. Never a smile, did you have a nice flight, find us ok, etc - nothing. The rental agreement isnt always pre completed by staff. They ask for my credit card details, ID when I use the rental operation most months. The car condition and cleanliness is deteriorating. After Covid the cars and service were excellent. Now they are like pre Covid. The fuel gauge dropping one bar when youve travelled 20kms isnt fair. This clearly shows the tank isnt full. I personally believe that long term customers should be given a better service and spec of car. Preferred stands for nothing. Much improvement required.

I was very impressed with the ease of collecting a car here - upon landing I d received a text message with a QR code to open a key locker, and the parking spot number was provided on the text too. The only slight issue was I wasn t expecting this, and luckily had turned my phone on shortly after landing. The car provided was an upgrade, and I couldn t fault the car which I assume was more or less new. Returning it was equally easy, and the staff quickly checked it had been refuelled and that there was no damage to it. The price was also very reasonable, although we travelled outside the main holiday season.

Take a photo of everything right after you pick up the car and right before you drop it off: rental contract for extras, gas levels, and outside of the car from all angles. They *will* lie about all of the above to try to squeeze an extra $100 out of you, and having these photos will save you when you inevitably need to file the credit card dispute. I just finished the dispute recently after months of trouble. I would recommend renting anywhere else.

We had an inclusive Flight and Car price through BA (FARO Potugal) - the smallest car possible (Fiat 500) came through Budget but they seem to have ripped us off by charging 653.84 Euros ON TOP of BA charges (the tank went back 3/4 full so some of the above quite righly would have been fuel) Dont bother, just get the bus at the airport and hire in Lagos

Avis is a partner with Budget and are located in the same desk. During my reservation at Buget they ripped me off with 149 euro during a quick trick at reservation. If you look at the reviews for Budget you will find multiple examples. As a good partner, looking at the reviews on fraude, similar practices occur at Avis. Complained at Budget Portugal and global without even an answer.

Read the bad reviews first and make sure you dont fall for the scams! We rented out of Faro airport, the lady offered us a Peugeot instead of Volvo (effectively downgrading us), husband saw another Volvo and asked for it, got it, just sign here in Portuguese and on a tiny screen without seeing what he was actually signing. Next thing we know is we are charged 1.5 the price for class upgrade and fuel upfront option even though we NEVER asked for an upgrade and never agreed to fuel upfront and returned a car with a full tank. Avis Customer Care should be called Customer Ignorance - there is your signature so we wont be offering any refunds. Horrible experience. Check every single thing before renting and make sure you understand every line and every word in what you are signing. Better yet, choose a different provider.

Location effectuée pendant une semaine fin avril. Aucun souci particulier, la location s est bien passée. Deux commentaires cependant Louer des voitures noires n est pas très approprié, il y a de nombreuses micro rayures, difficiles à identifier. Mais le retour s est passé correctement et aucune rayure ne m a été imputée. Par contre on m avait indiqué que si le réservoir d essence était presque vide il valait mieux ne pas faire le plein car le litre facturé par avis est moins cher qu en station, ce qui est vrai, environ 20 centimes. Par contre le forfait essence correspondait à 50 litres, alors que le réservoir de la voiture ne faisait que 40 litres et quand j ai fait le plein je n ai mis que 32 litres, et il restait 60 km d autonomie. En résumé, mieux vaut faire le plein soit même, surtout qu il y a une station à l entrée de l aéroport

Wir haben unseren Mietwagen vollgetankt zurück gegeben. Es wurde trotzdem ein voller Tank berechnet. (Auf jeden Fall ein Foto vom Tankstatus machen) Das Mautgebührgerät lässt sich AVIS auch ordentlich pro Tag bezahlen. Am Counter wurden uns systematisch Erweiterungen probiert zu verkaufen. Unfortunately, I have to give (if I could) a negative star. I rented a vehicle in Faro, Portugal and after the return, I received an email stating that I would be charged an additional $163 for a scratch which the rental staff noticed which I hadn t seen. I had also purchased the Super Damage Waiver which was supposed to cover me for additional damage done to the vehicle. Upon returning the rental car, I didn t notice any damage. How is an individual supposed to file a Police report or report the incident to the rental office if the individual doesn t see the scratch? It just sounded like a method of shaking down the individual for additional funds. I ll go back to Hertz in the future which has always treated me fairly.

Neatly rented a car from Sunnycars and upon arrival at Avis in Faro the lady asks if I want a free Upgrade, because the BB category is not available. Of course no problem and I consciously ask her whether this is without insurance, because it is already included in the Sunnycars package. No, no was the answer. Returned the car after a week of use and when returning it, asked the lady 3x whether costs will be charged afterwards. No, no was the answer again And what now creates my surprise. If the #Avis customer is out of Portugal for a few days, your credit card will still be looted without giving any reason. So be warned before you walk into Avis from Faro Airport to rent a car there...

Javais une réticence à louer un véhicule à létranger. Jai fait ma réservation en appelant le numéro dédié en France. Jai pré-rempli mes données personnelles avec mon interlocuteur téléphonique (service QuickPass). Sur place au Portugal (dans l aéroport de FARO), il y avait peu de monde mais tout cest fait rapidement et simplement. La récupération du véhicule cest donc fait en 1 minute. Pour la restitution même constat. La seule remarque concerne le manque dexplication sur lutilisation du véhicule ou les outils à disposition (au Portugal par exemple le Bip autoroute présent sans savoir comment cela fonctionne) Je recommande donc cette location.

Attention des escros !! 285 euro pour une micro rayure sur pare chocs arrière obligé de prendre portable pour bien la voir en sachant que madame a frotté la poussière et sûrement rayé avec ses colliers ou bague il me porter plainte , pour repartir au Portugal pour ça ! Alors , des copains portugais nous avaient recommandé daller à Faro. Nous y sommes donc allés ! Mais quelle déception !!! Déjà, il ny à rien a faire, ou presque ... Le centre ville est mignon, sans plus. La moitié des maison est en ruine.... La renommée gentillesse des Portugais est ici absente. Les restos: très peu de gastronomie portugaise typique, juste des attrappe- touristes! Beaucoup de restos japonais, pakistanais....Tout est hors de prix!!! Pour aller a la plage, il faut encore payer! Cest bruyant au possible : un avion qui passe très bas au dessus de votre tête toute les 5 mn !!! Et dès 5h30 le weekend !!! Bref, un enfer.... Jarrive vraiment pas à comprendre lengouement pour cette ville.... Lisbonne, à côté, fait figure de ville calme et tranquille ( et beaucoup plus abordable)... Quelle déception....

Accueil ça va, mais par contre attention, dès que vous prenez votre véhicule il faudra prendre en photo tout même le dessous du véhicule. La voiture faudra rendre propre donc cela veut dire que vous devriez aller laver le véhicule avant de le rendre car ils surchargent ta facture. Du coup, moi jai eu des photos à mon retour pour dire que le bas du pare choc a été abimé et que lintérieur était na pas été nettoyer.... bref à éviter car ce nest pas normal....

We booked our car through Villaplus and were assured that it included full insurance, when I collected the car they charged my card for fuel deposit only (when I queried the charge) and was told we had fully comp insurance. On our return home we were charged £129 for Super personal accident insurance which we never requested and were not told about. Extremely disappointed and let down by Avis, I will not use them again. Villaplus were equally disappointing and refused to get involved or help us with this scam. As we booked our car through Villaplus I thought they would have been more helpful, but was sadly disappointed with them, I suppose once they have had your money they dont care what happens to you.

Overall, I was happy with the car rental from Avios. Like many car hires they cost is more than the base price. For example, they added the fuel charge on pick up, but I filled up the tank on return and the charge was taken off the final bill. The fuel station is right by Faro airport, with reasonable fuel prices compared to other stations, so it was easy to fill up on return. Pick and return are the same place, right by the terminal, so dont get confused with an Avis Car Return depot on the main road into the airport. We did the Rapid Pass completing documents etc before we arrived, which Im sure speedy up the process on pick up. We didnt know about the Avis app, but probably worth a download as it might provide more info, which if covering drop off would have be handy.

Pas détat des lieux lors de la prise en charge du véhicule (on vous fait signer le contrat sur tablette dans lagence, sans avoir vu la voiture et on vous lenvoie après par email..On ne vous donne pas la possibilité dimprimer le contrat sur place non plus..), donc pas de possibilité de faire le tour du véhicule avec une personne de chez Avis. Pour ma part, plus de 800 euros facturés au lieu de 200 euros..! (pour des rayures qui étaient déja présentes..) Heureusement en voyant letat du véhicule qu on me louait, j avais pris des photos que jai envoyées de suite au service client avis, ce qui a permis de prouver ma bonne foi à mon retour. Aussi, plus de 5 heures pour joindre lagence de faro au téléphone pour exprimer notre mécontentement... Et une journée perdue en démarches ... Première fois que je loue chez Avis et première fois que jai ce genre de problème lors dune location de voiture (même en louant dans des agences beaucoup moins connues...). Il est incompréhensible quune enseigne comme avis puisse avoir des agences locales qui se comportent de la sorte.. Mon conseil, si vous louez dans cette agence, prenez des photos datées du véhicule sous tous les angles, et, si vous faites le plein dessence, prenez également une photo du tableau de bord avec le réservoir plein + kilométrage et gardez votre ticket de caisse..

Renting from Avis at Portugal was not at all a bad experience. I found a reasonable car that was exactly what we needed. It was easy to pick up and to return. My only problem is that they make up damage when you return the car. Even though it was clearly documented that there were several dings and scratches on the car when I picked it up, they still insisted that they were new ones when we returned it. Even their own original contract showed dozens of scratches, so how could they possibly say that one tiny scratch was new? It is clearly a scam to get people to be responsible for paying more money. Luckily I had full insurance so it didn t even apply to me , but I really want to warn other customers about this practice. It should be investigated since this has happened other times I have rented from Avis. Be careful!!!

Because it was dark when I picked up the car the agent did not do a vehicle check. I used the car without giving it a single bump or scrape. On return I was told I had caused a scratch to the vehicle. I 100% did not. Scam artists. Be warned. Seriously! They fined us nearly £100 for a spot of chocolate on the back seat - literally the size of a 10p coin. Their act is a simple grift - when we picked up the car they couldn t have been more charming. I pointed out a scuff on the wheel rim and they enthused about not worrying about that kind of thing. That s good cop. Then on drop off you ll meet bad cop. He ll spot things and grab figures from thin air which you have to pay. Avoid avoid avoid.

TEN OUT OF TEN! The pick up and return process was really quick and easy - we enjoyed a great couple of summer days driving the affordable rental vehicle from Portugal s coastal south up to Lisboa. Special thanks to Horacio an incredibly kind gentleman who taught me how to drive a manual on the spot. Without his kindess and patience, our days in Portual would not have been the same. Avis/Budget is very lucky to have such helpful staff putting customer service at the forefront. Recommend! UPDATES on 22/7/23: I have to adjust my comments to 1 out of 5 stars because Horacio informed me that he was fired because of helping me to drive a manual. It is a disgrace for this company to let go of such a respected staff who think of nothing but the best for his customer.

On arrival at desk I was downgraded from category and size of vehicle requested. After 10 minutes discussion with agent she opened key rack behind her to get key for our original order of category and size of vehicle stating, This has just come in. Interesting to hear that as no keys arrived in duration of me at desk. Agent requested I pay for additional driver in my booking. I am and Avis Preferred customer where an additional driver is free. After a few days a rear seat belt was not staying in the belt lock. I called Avis Faro over 3 days with no pick up. I fixed the lock myself. My return flight was cancelled to mean our car needed to be returned a day early. Again, I called Avis Faro numerous time with no pick up. I told the return Agent about my numerous attempts to call Avis Faro with no pick up. He noted he would be surprised if anyone picked up the phone in the office! After a bad Avis experience in the USA 2 months earlier I am looking at other car hire companies to hire from and would not recommend Avis to friends.

Please read! This AVIS FARO Office is a disgrace for AVIS and the beautiful country of Portugal and it is absolutely the WORST place to rent a car. The woman at the desk named Claudia scammed us last summer by making us sign a small screen for refundable security deposit but actually charged our credit card several hundred euros for many extras without telling us or showing us anything. They refused to give a refund when we found out and contacted two hours later. Their manager claimed that we asked for those extras. Definitely it was a team effort on their part. So we contacted Portuguese government agencies and exposed them on social media right away, then the manager immediately stepped back and made the refund. We went to their office the next day to face them, but both the manager and Claudia were not there. They took the day off together. Fast forward several months, we recently discovered strange new charges on our credit card for $10-$20 by AVIS with no explanation and we disputed with our bank. The bank said they are fraudulent and cancelled them. Our bank also had to cancel our credit card and sent a replacement to us to prevent them charging us again. If you make a huge mistake to rent a car from AVIS FARO Office, and they try to scam you too, immediately ask for the official Complaints Book to file your complaint and take a video. They are legally obliged to give you that book, and it is serious business. The Portuguese government would have a serious investigation and impose huge fines on them when you file a complaint in there. Finally, shame on you AVIS for running such a horrible office and employing such horrible people (not all of them I am sure) at such a beautiful destination. You can do better than this.

Disappointing service. Had booked express car pickup via Quickpass, a budget car app. Id already paid £203 to book the car via an online booking service. Quickpass asked me to pay an additional £234.15 when I registered on the app for a small car. The company has my bank card details which I had to give upon registering with Quickpass. Upon arrival at Faro airport I got given wrong keys (only found out when I went to the said bay) and upon return to the desk got the right ones but then on getting to the car again realised that the agent had not given me the booster seat and satnav which Id pre-ordered and paid for online beforehand. Had to go back in a third time and she quickly handed me an Iphone and booster seat. I didnt bother to check it as by this stage I was disappointed and I had children waiting in blistering heat - we were coming from cooler clime. It was a broken Iphone and I saw this when I put it on but didnt want to go back in a fourth time so drove off for I thought shed looked at it was aware / put it on my notes. Besides I later realised the car had satnav anyway (I normally dont get satnav but last time I booked a car it came in without and I didnt want to roam as I was on new phone contract so decided to order one this time, just in case). Upon returning the car the agent wasnt happy with satnav - I told him it was not my fault and now my final bill has come through and they say more money is due £330.28, probably for the broken iphone? Not my fault. Poor service which Ive not ever got in all my years of driving hire cars abroad. Ive been driving for over 25years with no problem so not sure what to think. To Avis / Budget Managers - please train your agents to read through critical bits of customer notes so that you deliver what you say you deliver! And please dont take peoples money when its entirely due to your issues. I hope to get my deposit back but who knows? Ill pursue.

Nous avons louer une voiture en octobre 2022 directement sur leur site. En arrivant ils nous on proposer une assurance supplémentaire qu on a refusé car c était couvert avec notre carte de crédit. On nous a fait signer le contrat sue leur tablette avec une version en Portugais et une en français. Penser à bien vérifier la voiture avant de partir car il y avait des rayures qui n étaient pas indiqué sur les papiers. Nous avions directement pris des photos et envoyer par mail à la centrale Avis portugal pour qu ils le transmettent à l agence de Faro. Aucune mauvaise surprise en rendant la voiture, pas de frais supplémentaire. Nous avions quand même pris une vidéo en faisant le tour de la voiture en guise de preuve au cas ou. Nous avions laisser le ticket de carburant en évidence à l intérieur de la voiture et déposer les clés dans la boîte à lettres car l agence était encore fermée. A mon avis si vous prenez directement sur la plateforme Avis ils sont plus cool que si vous louer la voiture via une autre plateforme.

Customer experience and quick pass service was excellent. The welcoming staff were friendly. The return staff less so but it was fairly early in the morning! The car was pretty banged up considering it was a rental. It was parked quite tightly with the boot up against a wall. I moved the car forward so we could load our luggage and opened it from the inside so did not notice the dent by the boot handle before driving off. The boot gave the appearance of being shut but would then unlock whilst driving. We had to pull over several times to shut the boot properly. As we are not familiar with this car it took a few times to figure out what the issue was and how to rectify it - slamming it shut with extreme force. This was both distracting and dangerous when driving in an unfamiliar country with my family in the car. I do not believe this car should have been rented to us. There were plenty of cars on the lot and we should have received one that was of a better standard.

Sitter igjen med en fryktelig dårlig opplevelse, og en sikker avgjørelse på at det aldri blir AVIS igjen. Veldig lang ventetid i skranken, og når vi endelig kom fram ble vi møtt av en sur mann som jobbet i skranken. Hadde bestilt bil via SAS med en pris på 262 Euro, men ente opp med å betale nesten 700 Euro når vi leverte bilen igjen. Bilen var temmelig rundbulka med bare 17000 kilometer på telleren, så måtte ta en hel del bilder for å verifisere at den var rundbulket fra før.

We did that but when returning the car, there was no members of staff on site so we left the keys in the drop box. a few days later our deposit was taken. Worst rental experience ever. Firstly, when I arrived at the agency, the person at the counter informed me that the quick pass wasnt really necessary. Then, he claimed that the rental price had changed due to a driver fee that wasnt initially included. I double-checked the initial contract, and it did include the young driver fee, and it was significantly cheaper. Finally, when he told me that the car they had for me was not the one I had originally reserved (a hybrid instead of gasoline and not in the same class), Id had enough. I left the agency to call their customer service center. Today, I realized that I incurred an extra charge of 86 euros from my phone carrier due to the time spent on the phone with them. After the frustrating call, I attempted to rent a vehicle from Europcar. However, I noticed that AVIS had already blocked 600 euros from my account before I even signed any documents with them. So, I reluctantly took the car from AVIS. When I returned to the agency, the person at the counter seemed pleased that I had no other option and was desperate to start my holiday, not wasting any more time. Im not sure if this person was having a bad day, but it seemed like they were determined to make my experience a terrible one. Fortunately, the person who handled the car return was very pleasant and the complete opposite of the person who initially assisted me. Thank you, AVIS, for causing me to waste time, money, and energy on what should have been a simple transaction for a basic car rental in 2023.

Via de ANWB site gekomen bij Sunny Cars. Daar een auto gehuurd. Deze bleek te worden geleverd door Avis. Ik had mij ingelezen op de reviews en was Allert op eventuele valstrikken. Ik kreeg een mooie jonge auto mee. Bij ophalen ging alles.wel snel. (Even hier tekenen, snel, snel...). Een wat meer klantgerichtheid is een aanbeveling. Bij het terugbrengen werden wij geholpen door een jonge man die klantvriendelijkheid begreep. Complimenten. Binnen een uur had ik mijn borg alweer teruggestort op de creditcard. Wat deze autohuur betreft moet ik toch gewoon 5 sterren geven.

Wir hatten ein Fahrzeug zur Einwegmiete und haben es morgens um 07:00 Uhr in Faro zurück gegeben. Die Bearbeitung verlief bei Rückgabe schnell und unkompliziert. Der Mitarbeiter war noch auf dem Weg zu seinem Arbeitsplatz, als er uns freundlich den Fahrzeugschlüssel abnahm. Leider gab es lediglich einen Hinweis auf eine Quittung per Mail. Dies ist doch etwas verunsichernd, da man einer Person, die man nicht kennt, den KFZ-Schlüssel übergibt und erstmal keinerlei Beleg dafür erhält. Die Quittung kam aber dann wahrlich schon nach ca. 1 Std. by mail. Alles in allem würde ich erneut über AVIS ein Fahrzeug anmieten, denn der Wagen war tadellos.

I chose Avis despite being significantly (!) more expensive than local car hire firms as I wanted to be sure to have a decent car and no headaches during my holiday. What I got was a wreck. The clerk said there are two scratches on the hubcaps. There were scratches all over the car, the front fender was bent, the knob for the radio missing, no GPS, no reverse radar, the USB port didnt work, thus no android auto... The staff was reluctant to note the damages on the rental report. As for the android not working, they said they hate Peugeots as things never work. Very helpful ! Next time I take a local rental company !

Die Abwicklung war einwandfrei, die Mitarbeiter(innen) zuvorkommend und haben nicht versucht ungewünschte Zusatzversicherungen oder einen PKW einer anderen Gruppe zu verkaufen. Sehr verständliches Englisch. Die Rückgabe verlief ebenfalls vorzüglich. Bereits aus den Anmietungsunterlagen war auch ersichtlich, welche Schäden (z.B. Türkratzter < ein paar mm) nicht belastet werden und für welche man aufkommen muss. Finde ich toll. Da weiß man, worauf man sich einlässt. Auch die gesamten Papiere (auch Online) sind einwandfrei. Ich würde jederzeit wieder buchen.

Will try to add items to your hire whether you have consented or not. Check and video/photograph the vehicle forensically before driving off, get agent (if available) to confirm any historical damage and mark and sign the vehicle plan on your documentation. When you return the vehicle have your video/photographs handy, go round the vehicle with the return agent, get them to sign off the vehicle condition as returned as hired. Watch and check your final bill for additional charges, especially insurances. ALWAYS pay by Credit Card, that way you can put a hold on any payment until you are happy with the amount. ALWAYS take out a separate independent additional Car Hire Insurance policy (ICar insurance is good) against ridiculous excess charges levied by Avis and others.

Avis Preferred here, so I rent a lot. Avis Faro are total fraudsters and scammers - the worst Avis rental experience of the year. First the agent indicated that they were taking a deposit for fuel. What she actually did was add the Upfront Fuel option to the rental without my consent. Fraud. On pickup I declined the Theft Protection. Guess what? The rental agreement they emailed me had a 80 eur charge for Theft Protection. Unless they refund me, I will be doing a charge back through Amex. Total crooks. avoid.

Ich habe das Mietauto ohne Hutablage in Faro übernommen. In Porto wurde mir dann vorgeworfen dass die Hutablage fehlt und es meine Schuld wäre. Es ist nicht Aufgabe des Kunden jede Kleinigkeit bei der Übergabe des Fahrzeugs zu dokumentieren. Es wurde von Avis auch kein Beweis vorgebracht dass bei Abfahrt die Hutablage vorhanden ist. Der Schaden wurde mir trotzdem angelastet. Die Versicherung trägt die Kosten aber es ist trotzdem ärgerlich, nervig und unfair.

Die Abholung des Mietwagens am Flughafen Faro lief reibungslos. Das Auto war überwiegend sauber. Alte Parkscheine und ein Kamm des Vormieters wurden dennoch gefunden. Die Rückgabe des Auto am Hauptbahnhof in Porto war eine Katastrophe. Nicht nur, dass man nirgendwo parken kann um sich zu orientieren, nein eine Ausschilderung zum Schalter als auch zum Parkhaus!!! wo die Autos stehen fehlt gänzlich!!! Abgabe war um 13 Uhr. Durch das Gesuche auf dem Gelände des Bahnhofs nach der Mietstation kamen wir zu spät. Telefonisch war vor und nach 13 Uhr niemand erreichbar. Vor lauter Frust parkten wir das Auto im Parkhaus, wo wir dann auch die anderen Autos von Avis gefunden hatten. Die Station war von 13-15 Uhr geschlossen. (Mittagspause) D.h. 2h warten bis wir das/den Auto/Schlüssel abgeben konnten. Mit 20 Minuten Verspätung des Personals und keiner!! Entschuldigung bekam ich den Spruch entgegengebracht: Na da ist doch eine Schlüsselbox. Da hätten sie den Schlüssel und das Parkticket hineinwerfen können. Grundsätzlich hätte ich das gemacht, wenn ich es gewusst hätte, dass das Vorgehen ok ist. Normalerweise gebe ich gemietete Dinge in meiner Anwesenheit zurück. Gerade ein Auto, was eigentlich auf Schäden und der entsprechenden Tankregelung geprüft und bestätigt werden sollte. Dies blieb nun aus. Es blieb also nur übrig eine umfangreiche Dokumentation anzufertigen. Im Allgemeinen war ich zufrieden. Lediglich die Rückgabe an diesem Bahnhof war unterirdisch schlecht.

Avis Faro- don t use. Had a car accident within 2 hours of picking up the car. 5 different Avis agents didn t even know how to deal with us/ the car/ no one knew a process of reporting, recording an accident. My excess was 1350 which I will claim back but Avis is now charging me 2100 with no explanation other than 800 in miscellaneous charges . Nothing has been translated into English after asking, no one explained the documents or charges other than the excess. We were told Avis will take our damage waiver but also claim money through the insurance of the driver that hit us as it wasn t our fault- meaning now Avis will be in profit and us the victims of the accident at a loss!

We went there because the car we booked was not available at the last moment so we were looking for another company with a cheap car. We agreed for a price of 285 euro for a car from 8-12 of October (5 days) but then they charged me 408 euro. I have sent emails and called so many times and they just told me 408 is final price. And they continue to charge me, after 1 month they charged me 20 euro for what ? Worst company ever

No issues when picking up the vehicle, but upon return there was no one around at 1pm. Went to the office to ask about the return process and was ignored by one agent and then asked another agent and received the response I don t speak English , in perfect English. I then proceeded to find a rep on the floor (Luis aka Luis the Useless) who then told me to wait. He then helped people who arrived 10 minutes after me. The blatant disrespect shown by the staff was appalling. Once I was finally served by a rep (not Luis) they tried to charge me an extra day for returning it late . The only reason I was late was due to the lack of service.

Rented a French Car that spoke German in Portugal in a really bright orange colour. Reception changed the language for me. The car was prepared to an extremely high standard. It was a fun experience to rent the car and the colour so vivid that there was no chance you would loose it in a car park. Just wish I could make the Avis app work for me but it did not make much difference as staff were so helpful and cheerful. Much better than struggling with the app.

You can pretend you don t have a record of my name for the rental but rental was under my friend s name who I was travelling with. Bestehener Vorschaden wurde nach Abgabe (durch Schlüsseleinwurf) als von mir verursachter Schaden deklariert. Dieses Vorgehen deckt sich mit den extrem negativen Bewertungen gerade dieser AVIS-Station am Flughafen Faro und hat offenbar Methode: Immer wenn das Fahrzeug ohne persönliche Abnahme außerhalb der Öffnungszeiten durch den Mieter abgegeben wird, werden Vorschäden auf den Mieter abgewälzt, der dann keine Möglichkeit der Korrektur mehr hat. Update: Die generische Antwort der AVIS-Station zeigt nur klar, dass AVIS gar kein echtes Interesse an einer Aufklärung des Schverhalts hat. Alle meine Daten liegen der Station vor, würde man hier wirklich etwas im Sinne des Kunden klären wollen, wäre das für AVIS jederzeit problemlos möglich. Aber solange die AVIS-Muttergesellschaft dieses Verhalten vor Ort ohne Konsequenzen toleriert, wird sich an dieser Art der einträglichen Kundenabzocke auch nie etwas ändern.

Budget/Avis Great place to rent a car. The price through a third-party website was very reasonable. The desk is right at the airport so no shuttle necessary. The pre-registration process is a great tool and allowed for faster check-in. The rental desk was empty so the lady at the counter let us pick our model for the category we chose. She was extremely friendly and helpful. We had to extend our rental and were able to do so by phone in minutes. The return of the car was quick and easy and the return staff was very friendly as well. I would definitely rent from them again.

Quick and easy process, with the majority of the check-in paperwork done before you leave for holiday. Check-in took less than 5 minutes. Car was clean, tidy and whilst there was some light damage, it was all documented and so not a problem on return. Return was straightforward and again, very quick. A little more expensive than some other companies, but Id pay a little extra for the ease, especially when traveling with two small children!

An und für sich war soweit alles okay. Mir wurde per App der Schlüssel an den Selfpoints zugesagt. Leider konnte ich später über die App nicht mehr drauf zugreifen. Also ab zur Info, dort war leider der Preferred-Stand nicht mehr besetzt und ein Mitarbeit an der Seite rief mich zu sich. Er war sehr unfreundlich und meinte ich solle in meinen Mails nachschauen nachdem ich mehrmals drauf hingewiesen hab das alles in der App gelistet ist. Dann hat er gesucht und alles nochmal geprüft und schließlich lag der Schlüssel hinter ihm. Einfach nur peinlich und eine unnötige Zeitverschwendung für Avis Mitglieder die über Jahre Kunde sind. Dubios war weiterhin das, dass Auto mit leeren Tank abgegeben werden sollte, da wohl die Benzinpreise für Unternehmer günstiger sind. Definitiv nicht machen, die Berechnung war mehr als fehlerhaft. Sehr merkwürdig solche Infos an die Kunden zu geben, bzw. die Option einfach so zu buchen. Kontrolliert hinterher eure Abrechnung genau.

Budget/Avis. Faro airport can be a bit of a nightmare for car rental. It really is important to avoid most of the cheaper companies who will find any number of way to cheat you and make your life miserable. I tend to stick to Avis or Hertz although Ive had generally good results from the very cheapest alternatives - virtual companies operating out of Car Park 4. Ive used this Avis office many dozen times over many years. Mostly, it is very good with staff who will make an extra effort to sort out any difficulties. Importantly, Ive had very few billing problems and, at the end of a rental, Ive walked away from the drop-off with an accurate emailed final bill and no issues (Sixt, by contrast, have given me terrible return experiences with staff desperately looking for damage or reasons to charge me.) Post COVID, Avis have occasionally tried to fob me off with dirty and smelly, high mileage cars in the wrong rental class before being surprised that they do actually have a car in the correct category. This little bit of theatre is generally carried out with good humour on both sides but wastes time.

Betrug! Leider muss auch ich die Erfahrung machen, dass man als Kunde von AVIS Budget total über den Tisch gezogen wird. Man muss in der Hektik der Anreise Dokumente unterschreiben, die mit der über das Buchungsportal übermittelten Buchungsbestätigung nicht übereinstimmen (sorry Leute - scheißegal ob Flughafen oder nicht, das nächste mal, das es aufgrund der Erfahrungen eher nicht geben wird, lege ich Eure Filiale lahm, bis alles bis auf den Cent geklärt ist). Das böse Ende kommt dann mit der Schlussabrechnung, die weit über 60 Euro zusätzlich enthält, die nicht nachvollziehbar sind. Es wurde eine Tankregelung voll - voll vereinbart und von mir auch eingehalten. Das wurde von dem Typen bei der Fahrzeugrückgabe auch so bestätigt. Es gibt sogar ein Foto mit dem korrekten Kilometerstand bei Rückgabe und der Tanknadel, die auf voll steht. Trotzdem werden die Tankbelege nachgefordert, plausible Ersatzbelege (Ort, Datum, Betrag, Einkaufsstelle ersichtlich) nicht akzeptiert. Rechtliche Schritte und Strafanzeige sind in Vorbereitung. Fraud! Unfortunately, I also have to experience that as a customer of AVIS Budget, you are totally ripped off. In the hectic pace of the journey, you have to sign documents that do not match the booking confirmation sent via the booking portal (sorry folks - it doesnt matter if its an airport or not, the next time, which wont happen based on my experience, Ill paralyze your office, until everything is clarified down to the cent). The bad end then comes with the final bill, which contains well over 60 euros in addition, which are incomprehensible. A tank regulation full - full was agreed upon and also adhered to by me. This was also confirmed by the guy when the vehicle was returned. Theres even a photo with the correct mileage on return and the fuel gauge reading full. Nevertheless, the fuel receipts are requested, plausible replacement receipts (place, date, amount, point of purchase visible) are not accepted. Legal steps and criminal charges are in preparation.

The only reason I knock off a star is that true to form, you always get the or similar vehicle, which really is not similar. We specifically asked the desk at Avis Faro Airport for an etoll transmitter which we always, and several times, have done every time we have rented a car at Avis Faro Airport. Since they forgot to write it in the rental agreement and we regretfully didn´t aknowledge that, it resulted in an invoice 1 year later of over 150 euros, of which the etoll is about 13 euros. The rest is a penalty cost. In spite of our complaint Avis Faro Airport insists that we pay the penalty because we didn´t closely read the rental agreement. If we had, with a long queue behind us, we perhaps would have seen the error made by the rental desk. Now however everything according to Avis is our own fault and Avis have been allowed to make a mistake that we had to pay for. Unacceptable. Never, ever, will we rent a car at Avis again, anywhere in the world.

We booked the rental online and were given a final price in Canadian Dollars however, on pickup at Faro Airport Portugal we were charged in Euros which was a 50% increase. Also, there was no explanation given about the toll administration fee which is 2 Euros per day. This rental cost was considerably higher than we were lead to believe. The only reason for a generous 3 star rating is for the customer service upon pickup who were patience in trying to help us. They were caught in the middle as this was an online rental and we will have to pursue and hopefully have this corrected once we return to Canada.

I didnt use the quick pass online as it was asking me for another payment that I had already paid with the holiday company that I had booked it with so I was confused when picking up the car. The rental company stood out so it was easy to find. The car had alot of scratches on it and a few dents that was noted on the information given to me. I also made my own notes as evidence. I have never had any problems renting from budget. The car style had changed to what I had ordered but was appropriate to our family of 5 Car was smooth running and cost efficient. Toll charges was charged to my card attached to the car. The return was a little confusing. I drove around a little while looking where to drop it off. Not clear. signage did not stand out enough. I booked with Avis at Faro airport - one of the big companies - for peace of mind. Unfortunately, I should have heeded the warnings in some of the reviews. Pickup was convenient with the office and cars near the terminal. The service was brusque, but that didn t really matter. The car was fine too. However, the return experience makes the blood boil. The guy at the returns said his handheld terminal wasn t working properly, but confirmed everything was fine (once we showed photos of a big scratch that was on the car at pickup). Three days later, I still haven t received an email from Avis confirming the return. But Avis has taken almost 70 from my credit card, despite the fact that everything was prepaid through British Airways. I m guessing this is the fuel deposit I was told had to be payed on pickup, but would be refunded when the car was returned full (which is was - it was filled up at a petrol station right by the airport). So this is very poor service from Avis. I shouldn t now have to spend time battling to get a refund for something that should never have been charged. In essence, it s theft. I am Avis Preferred too. So much for loyalty! UPDATE. Changed from 2 to 3 star. Avis UK were quick to correct the error when I called and have refunded the money.

Never get a car from Budget cars. It was my first time that I rented a car from this company. They are awful. When I returned the car I was faced with a lot of bits and pieces of charges that never explained to me at the time of pick up. They also charged me way above the cost of the fuel that they promised to charge at the time of pick up. This company is a fraud and I recommend DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT hire a car from Budget.

Datenschutz Fehlanzeige! Nachdem ich anfänglich einen guten Eindruck hatte (guter und sauberer Zustand des Fahrzeugs, unkomplizierte Übernahme und Abgabe), wurde dieser 2 Jahre später zerstört. Avis gab meine Daten aufgrund eines angeblichen Verkehrsdelikts an die EPCplc weiter - kein Problem, wenn ich das Delikt begangen hätte! Zu dem genannten Zeitpunkt war ich aber nicht in Portugal und hatte auch den genannten Wagen nachweislich längst nicht mehr gemietet. Wie wäre es denn vielleicht, die Kundendaten besser zu schützen und bei berechtigtem Interesse korrekte Daten herauszugeben sowie den betroffenen Kunden darüber zu informieren?

Des voleurs agence à éviter de toute urgence! Je suis parti en vacances à faro en 2021 et j y ai loué une voiture. J ai pris le service pour passer les péages. Cette année en 2024, je reçois une facture comme quoi j ai passé des péages sans avoir le fameux boîtier que j ai loué. Le total des péages s élève à 14 et il me demande 236 . Apparemment je ne suis pas le seul. Dans ce cas c est une honte. Quand je leur redemande le contrat, celui-ci mentionne des fais divers sans mentionner de quoi il s agit ainsi que des frais pour le carburant, alors que j ai pris le réservoir plein et que je l ai ramené plein

Booked through budget which shares an office with Avis. The lady from Avis added a number of charges and an upgrade without telling me about it. While smiling and making conversation she hands you something in Portuguese to sign, saying she has checked it all etc etc. DO NOT SIGN WITHOUT REVIEWING SOMETHING IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE. Cost me over four hundred euros extra compared to what I was meant to pay. Budget head office is doing nothing of course.

Erros no sistema que depois dão origem a dinheiro que sai das contas dos clientes sem que estes possam se aperceber,irá ser restituído mas leva o seu tempo,o que não deveria acontecer jamais. Já não é a primeira vez comigo. No que toca ao atendimento ao cliente De, saudar e enaltecer o trabalho do Sr Igor na estação de Faro aeroporto, sempre atencioso, e de sorriso no rosto!na resolução de questões que possam acontecer durante o aluguer ou alguma dúvida que possa surgir, atendimento 5*. Já a Dona Cláudia,1°atendimento na mesma estação, Não vou comentar aqui senão não saíamos daqui,dava o texto bem grande pela negativa,(dano pré existente) com fotos mas ainda assim cobrou,mas acredito piamente que irá mudar pelo menos comigo. No segundo atendimento foi MELHOR sem dúvida EXCEDEU as minhas expectativas em todos os aspetos!!! desde de simpatia, troca de viatura procedimento normais de uma rent a car,mas deveria ter mais ATENÇÃO nos contratos porque me vai ser cobrado taxa de devolução no aeroporto de Faro (onde foi troca de carro) derivado a um problema na viatura(luzes médios desreguladas e, ainda uma taxa combustível derivado a sistema ir abaixo). Prontamente liguei para a D.Cláudia que me resolveu o problema no imediato mas vai ser cobrado mas depois restituído. Salientar e enaltecer o segundo atendimento desta senhora Cláudia que com o tempo acredito que no que toca ao atendimento para comigo as coisas podem funcionar,pela positiva espero eu. Erros toda a gente têm,mas que podem ser evitados. Notas a melhorar e com rapidez: Erros no sistema que deveriam ser revistos e não acontecer jamais!!!!!! Mais Nada mais a apontar. Atendimento geral 3 ,não dou mais por enquanto.

I rented out of Faro, my car broke down after 3 days, the road side assistance was vague and unclear as to how and when they would be helping. They made us travel accumulatively 4 hours to get a replacement instead of dropping one off when they picked it up, costing half a day of our vacation. I was then double charged for fuel when I had chosen the fuel up front option. When trying to correct this issue I was then reassured they would not be doing anything to correct this. Charging me for refueling the vehicle even when my signed contract was presented to them. DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS AND DO NOT HAVE YOUR BEST INTEREST IN MIND!

Efectuei uma reserva por um veiculo para 2 dias por cerca de 150 . No dia anterior a reserva não tinha sido confirmada. Fiz vários telefonemas para a linha de apoio em que me foram fornecidos números atrás de números para falar com a agência e nenhum deles era o correcto até que ao fim de várias tentativas consegui entrar em contacto. Nesse contacto foi-me dito para não me preocupar que a minha reserva estava garantida e tinham o carro para mim mesmo que ainda não tivesse recebido o email. No dia dirigi-me ao local para levantar o veículo ao que fui informado que a minha reserva não era válida, que o preço não estava correcto e que se quisesse o veículo teria de pagar cerca de 300 ao dia. Sem qualquer hipótese de conseguir o veículo noutro sítio ou de outra forma visto me ter sido garantido, tive de ceder ao que sinto ter sido uma tática de extorsão pela Avis e os seus parceiros. Sinto que fui enganado e vítima de má fé para me atraírem com um valor e que quando eu estava sem alternativa, quadruplicaram.
