Be careful, this is not where the rental cars are. This is where the shuttle at the airport terminal is so do not use this for directions to the actual rental cars

Know your agreement before you arrive. The person who checked over my hire car told me I had to pay an additional supplement, despite the fact that I had already paid this when I collected the vehicle. I had to argue my point using the contract they emailed me.

Busy place and the shuttle bus from the airport is pretty small so expect to queue in the sun waiting for it. We pre-payed but still had a wait to pick up our Avis rental. All in all it’s a necessary evil if you’ve hired a car from Florence airport but it feels like it could be better organised.

Really bad experience. On Saturday evening, with 2 tired kids after a long flight, I had to wait 45min for my car. There were 30+ people in line, just two desks open and every check out took up to 5min. Absolutely horrible!

The worst airport ever. If you ask the staff one more question at the check in, she will get impatient. And as there are very few seats here, a large amount of people have to stand and wait to board.

Absolutely one of the most difficult places to find. Directions did not seem to match the actual location. Plan extra time to drop off a rental car.

DO NOT book using rentalcars.com. Insurance purchased through the site is not valid, the car you reserve will not be the one you receive, you will incur many excess fees when you pick up your car. Book directly through the rental agency.

Take the shuttle, in front of the air port in the parking area, to get to the rental car center. The rental car center is actually in walking distance (about 8 minutes) from the airport, but there are no signs, you need to cross roads and go up and down the pavement. So, if you are there for the first time, don't know the area or have heavy luggage, be on the safe side and take the shuttle! If you rented your car with insurance by an internet travel site and not directly by the car rental company, have a good look at your emails and documents. What can happen is that the car company is not aware of your insurance.
