Second time in Madeira and rented car again from Carxop based on previous good experience. This time needed 7 seater. Car was delivered to apartment exactly as agreed in time. Car was in really good condition despite of high mileage and age. But the best it was good old diesel, what pulled like a tractor everywhere where I wanted. Clutch, brakes, tyres-all were good. I took full insurance when I saw some minor scratches and needed to drop off car at 4 in the morning in airport.
Extremely unsatisfied with this car rental company. They were recommended to us by the hotel and seemed good to start, the girl came to our hotel to arrange and we told her where we were going, which was up one of the steepest mountains so obviously we needed a car good enough to get us up and she even recommended which route to take. She said group B would be fine but then when she dropped off the car it turned out to be a Peugeot which wasn't in the group B list. At the time we didn't see this as a problem. However the next morning on our journey, it was clear from the start that the car wasn't particularly powerful and as we tried to get up the mountain the car properly cut out and couldn't make it up. This left us in a very stressful situation as we had to reverse back down, passing other cars on the very narrow, steep road. This was at 6am so couldn't phone for any help. We returned to our hotel and decided after this experience we weren't going to drive again. The hotel staff contacted the rental company for us and we all explained the problem and that the car wasn't powerful enough and also that we no longer wanted the car and were giving the keys back to reception for her to collect. We had paid to have the car till 5.30 that afternoon. We asked if could have at least some of the money back but the girl refused. She wasnt very helpful and not apologetic at all. She was blaming our driving, rather than the car, but with living in North Wales we are used to driving up steep mountain roads so this definitely wasnt the case. So all in all a very bad experience and we then had to pay out again to do our mountain trip with alternative transport, making the whole thing very expensive.
My car showed me, that something was not correct with the tire pressure. I stopped at Carxop and the service staff were so kind and friendly. They helped me directly. They checked the tire pressure of all four tires and showed me to reset the system. This is the act of service we need everywhere! I felt very secure after I leave Carxop. Thanks a lot guys!
We hired from CarXop through our hotel. The car was delivered to our hotel, the Rep was very helpful as we completed the paperwork and full insurance details. In English, no translation problems. He gave us some great tips on places to visit and driving around the Island safely. Took us to the car, shared the controls and car details. We had an automatic Citreon DS3, well maintained, full tank of fuel on delivery. We had a great time driving around, it took us to all the places we wanted to go, both steep and deep. Easy to park. We refilled fuel and handed keys back to reception for collection after our two days. Easy.... Very competitive pricing vs other companies. Will definitely use them again on any future visits.
Absolutely amazing car rental on Madeira! We got the car prepared right at the airport in the night. The car was nice and the cost was better than at larger car-rentals! I appreciated that we were not forced to buy additional insurance - but given the Madeira hills and roads I would recommend everyone to take the insurance! :)
Can agree with the previous comments here. Very professional, helpful and kind people I interacted with - not what you are used to at other rental companies! Car was spotless clean and in very good condition. Delivered right to our address, handover was quick and easy with payment on site in cash or by card - no extra deposit for entry level car. The drop off was also at our requested location without any extra charge. The only downside is that their homepage seems to be randomly working or not and even had some issues with receiving their emails as they first landed in the spam folder.
Good prices, good delivery/pick-up options and an honest staff. We rented a Renault Clio for a few days in Madeira. Prices were good, the car had plenty of power for steep hills in Madeira (1.0L Turbo). We had a break-in in one of Maradouros parking lots. The thieves stole some cash from my wives' wallet (left the car alone for ±10 minutes). Thieves have damaged the car. I had the insurance covered by my credit card but the damage was evaluated lower than my insurance deductible. I'm used to being scammed on the rental car repair costs so this one surprised me. Definitely choosing CARXOP next time I'm in Madeira. And just take the additional insurance. It's worth it in Madeira.
I've rented a car via Carxop between 11-13 December 2021. First of all, I've been pleasantly surprised that the car was brought punctually and professionally at our accommodation. The process was simple and the person handing over the car was very friendly. I had some complication during my rental period - and it was also a Sunday (12 December) when it happened. I was extremely surprised that someone picked up the phone quickly, calmed me down and was extremely positive and reassuring. I couldn't want more than that as service. More than that, the 2 people I interacted with during my rental period - were genuinely friendly and supportive - it was nothing artificial or training-induced. Upon drop-off - we've left the car directly in the airport - which was very practical and comfortable for us. All in all - a wonderful experience and, believe it or not, they've made our Madeira trip 2x more beautiful than it was - by their friendly style and fast support on that Sunday. All the best for the 2 persons that helped me and hope to be renting another car from them soon!

Wir konnten das Auto direkt über das Hotel buchen (Pestana Gardens) und es wurde uns dorthin gebracht und wieder abgeholt. Wir hatten auch erst einen Tag vorher gebucht, aber das war kein Problem. Das Auto war sauber, aber hatte außen einige Macken, was auf Madeira nicht verwunderlich ist. Die Preise sind in Ordnung, aber leider kostet ein weiterer Fahrer extra. Wir hatten auch ursprünglich ein Auto der Klasse C bestellt, aber eins der Klasse B bekommen (Smart For Four). Da es günstiger war, war das jetzt nicht das Problem für uns. Wir hatten dadurch ein Auto mit Automatik, welches uns an den steilsten Hängen nie im Stich gelassen hat.
Vermutlich die schlechteste Autovermietung auf Madeira. In 7 Tagen hatten wir drei Autos. Mit dem ersten sind auf auf der Autobahn liegen geblieben. Bei dem zweiten war das Licht defekt. Beim dritten die Batterie vom Schlüssel und das Licht. Bei dritten habe ich das Problem ignoriert. Also beruhigt Auto fahren ist anders. Ein Horror!

Petit bémol, la voiture navait quun feu de croisement, les 2 pneus avant lisses et la clim ne faisait pas de froid !! Sinon location via lhôtel, c parfait, pas de déplacement ds une ville inconnue.

Great Experience, trustworthy and car in good condition
Bár az autó egy órával kés bb érkezett a reptérre, ett l függetlenül teljesen elégedettek voltunk az autóval, ami 5 napig volt nálunk. Semmi gond nem volt vele és az átadás is gyorsan lezajlott, mikor lejárt a bérlés. Although the car arrived at the airport an hour later, we were still completely satisfied with the car, which we had for 5 days. There was no problem with it and the handover was quick when the lease ended.
Wir konnten unseren Mietwagen direkt über unser Hotel buchen. Es lief total unkompliziert ab das Auto wurde uns gebracht wir haben eine Vollkaskoversicherung gemacht und hatten keinerlei Probleme. Am Ende haben wir das Auto in die Tiefgarage gestellt und den Autoschlüssel im Hotel zurückgegeben. Da es doch sehr steil auf Madeira ist sollte man das jedoch bei der Autowahl bedenken.

Nous voulions loué un véhicule pour 4 personnes.Nous avons demandé à la réception de lhôtel et au vu des tarifs très concurrentiels (en gros 1/2 prix par rapport aux grands loueurs).nous nous sommes décidé pour Carxoo. Le lendemain le véhicule nous a été livré à lhôtel et surprise nous avons été upgrade (véhicule de classe I au lieu de D) tout en conservant le prix initial. Pas de dépôt de garantie à versé et à la fin de la location vous navez quà faire le plein et laisser les clés à la réception de lhôtel..

Bardzo polecam t wypo yczalnie samochodów. Poleci mi j hotel w Ponta de Sól i przez hotel wszystko za atwili my. Polecam robi to du o wcze niej - przy rezerwacji w czerwcu na sierpie nie by o ju dost pnych samochodów w najni szej i najta szej klasie. W asortymencie swietne nowe auta. My otrzymali my Seat Arona - klasa C. Samochód by podstawiony pod hotel i tam go zostawili my po wypoczynku (klucze w recepcji). Bardzo konkurencyjne ceny w stosunku do du ych wypo yczalni dost pnych na lotnisku. Dodatkowo za 10 euro pe ne ubezpieczenie, wi c nie musisz si niczym stresowa . Polecam!
Ich kann Carxop nicht weiterempfehlen, weil der Kundenkontakt sehr unfreundlich war. Das Auto wurde pünktlich, aber leider mit defektem Licht geliefert, wir mussten aber trotzdem den vollen Preis zahlen obwohl wir das Auto ohne Licht kaum nutzen konnten und ein Verkehrsrisiko waren, da es viele unbeleuchtete Tunnel auf der Insel gibt. 2 Tage später wurde der Schaden repariert. Auf unsere Kontaktaufnahme wurde nicht oder erst sehr spät reagiert und es gab kein Entgegenkommen oder eine Entschuldigung für das kaputte Auto.
Car was not as advertised. There where 3 brands and this was a diffrent car, that can happen. The car was deliverd at the hotel also good. But when driving there whas a clicking sound when braking. And when we went down hill the car lost too much braking power. Im used to driving in mountains. When i spoke to the company they immediatly went into the defence. It whas the new brakes. And nothing i said made a diffrence. They havent even driven the car and won t listen. They where right and our problem. Well fine. And a lesson for us to accept a car wich is not advertised. A nissan Micra is alot less car then a renault clio imho. Never going to rent here again.
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND AGAINST I booked online, my reservation was confirmed by email and then they canceled it, telling me that there were no vehicles available.
Best car rental service we ve ever had arranged by our hotel, car was delivered at accommodation and taken from there the morning after we finished our tour. Very nice and professional agent, no money blocked from the credit card, insurance at 10 euros/ day covering everything. Entire initial handover process took 15 minutes, at return we left the key at the hotel s reception. Fantastic!
Nous avons loué une voiture via la réception de notre hôtel : véhicule livré à notre chambre, état impeccable, personnel courtois et efficace, coûts raisonnables et sans surprise, 15 mn pour récupérer la voiture et on a laissé les clés pour la récupération. Brilliant service from start to finish. The delivery of the car was on time, the car was clean and fully filled up with gas. It really gave us an opportunity to enjoy the island to the fullest. We also agreed with the office for a different drop-off location with no additional costs. Good value for money, no hidden fees and no deposit needed. We are really thankful for this brilliant service!

PRO: Foarte punctuali: ne-au adus ma ina la cazare, în intervalul stabilit. E drept, lipsea booster-ul copilului pe care-l solicitasem în mod clar. Dar l-am adus i pe el într-o or . Nimic de obiectat aici. CONS: Ma ina (motorul) îns FOARTE PROAST !!! (Motiv pentru care acord o singur stea la acest Review. Mi se pare c siguran a i confortul pasagerilor este mai presus de toate.) Ne-au dat un Polo cu motor 1.2L pe benzin , cu 44.000 km la bord. La prima vedere nu pare mult, îns 44.000 km f cu i pe pantele din Madeira de diferi i oferi probabil c e mult pentru un motor de 1.2L. Pur i simplu nu urca pantele nici m car cu viteza a doua i trebuia s-o treci în viteza întâi. Iar câteodat lungimea pantei era mai mare decât putea ma ina s mearg cu viteza 1. Men ionez c eram doar 2 adul i (greutate normal ) + un copil de 20kg. Mai tot timpul venea miros de ars (probabil ambreiajul) i trebuia s oprim pe dreapta s se mai r ceasc . Uleiul verificat la joj era spre negru. Anvelopele erau uzate sub orice critic . Din fericire nu a fost cazul de vreun derapaj, dar ar tau sinistru (VEZI FOTO). CONCLUZII: Nu accepta i motor de 1.2L dac ma ina pare uzat i ave i de gând s urca i pante. i e plin de pante în Madeira. Ie irea din Funchal spre Parque Natural Ribeiro Frio (Miradouro Ribeiro Frio i VEREDA DOS BALCÕES care într-adev r e foarte frumos) dac alege i s -l vizita i, este extrem de abrupt . Pus i simplu nu am putut urca panta de ie ire din ora înspre munte nici cu viteza 1 cu acel Polo hârbuit... A adar, dac ave i ma in proast , verifica i cu grij traseul ales pe Google Maps i opta i pentru drumurile de coast , chiar dac sunt ocolitoare, i nu pentru cele care urc direct muntele pentru a traversa insula. Carxop was the car rental recommended by my hotel. I usually arrange my own rental before arrival but this time just wanted a car for 2 or 3 days so left it until we reached Madeira. The rental rates were not the cheapest but all insurances were included and the price was still very reasonable, and the service was impeccable. Car delivered fully sanitised (clingfilm over steering wheel and gear lever and removed by delivery driver on handover). Car delivered to and collected from our hotel with minimal hassle by a very friendly and efficient representative. I can recommend Carxop and I would use again without hesitation.

Sur le conseil de l hotel où nous avons séjourné nous avons loué une voiture pour une journée. La voiture n a plus démarré lorsque nous avons voulu repartir d une visite ! J ai donc appelé et 20 min plus tard on nous changeait la batterie. Ils ont été rapide et efficace !

Auf Empfehlung vom Hotel ausgewählt und für gut empfunden. Sauberes, gepflegtes Fahrzeug ohne Macken welches direkt zum Hotel gebracht und auch wieder abgeholt wurde. Freundlicher Mitarbeiter ohne den typischen Autoverkäufer Charme. Preislich kaum teurer als bei den anderen Anbietern, hier kann man auf Madeira wohl kaum sparen. Schön auch das die Vollkasko ohne Selbstbeteiligung ist und wirklich alles an Schäden inkludiert.
