Absolutly positive experience. The rental process trough the website was quick and simple. Prices are reasonable, no hidden fees or extra charges. We pay 30 eur/day for the rent + 15 eur/day for an insurance which has been covered everything (you only have to pay extra if you damage the interior of the car which is impossible in case of a normal use). We received the car at our apartment for free, drop that at the airport for 20 euro extra (which is cheeper than a taxi charge). The car itself, a Skoda Fabia, was clean and nearly brand new. Its 110 hp was powerfull enough even for the mountain roads, it was comfi for the family 2 adoult, two kids. The company did not charge for the baby seats. The team were friendy and kind, totaly customer focused also on the phone and also personlay. Highly recommended!

Good communication from the begining to the end, the car was given and collected on time. I do recommend Hybrid Toyota Yaris, totally worth it, the ride was really smooth, even on Madeiras routes. Very good experience. First, I was a bit sceptical due to all the good reviews, prices lower than average on Madeira and 20% payment in advance, but decided why not to try. The car was excellent and exactly the one that I booked. Communication was fine.

Gostei muito da comunicação com esta empresa, do preço e da pontualidade na entrega e recolha do carro. Não dou melhor nota porque logo no 1º dia detetei que o médio do lado esquerdo estava fundido e quando reportei a situação à empresa o Sr. Sérgio sugeriu-me que passasse eu na numa oficina com a qual a empresa trabalha para trocar a lâmpada. Como a oficina fechava às 18H30 no Funchal e estávamos a meio de um passeio na Calheta já não foi possível trocar a lâmpada nesse dia. Para evitar uma multa não usei o carro nessa noite, alterando os planos que tinha. Na manhã seguinte tive de fazer um desvio ao percurso que tinha planeado para ir trocar a lâmpada à oficina o que me fez perder algum tempo. No último dia peço ao Sr. Sérgio para entregar o carro 1 hora mais tarde relativamente ao que estava previsto e a resposta foi: pode sim mas tem um custo adicional de 20 eur. Note-se que paguei 25 eur/ dia pelo carro. Conclusão, achei muito deselegante esta resposta e tendo em conta o tempo que perdi para levar o carro alugado à oficina durante as minhas férias, acho que teria sido simpático uma atenção por parte da Automatic Car Rentals.

Wij hebben afgelopen juni voor 2 weken een auto gehuurd via automatic rental cars. Door de super goede prijs waren we eerst bang voor addertjes onder het gras maar dit was ongegrond! Wat een super bedrijf. Ophalen en afleveren van de auto op de AirPort ging probleemloos, super nette auto en door de all in verzekering geen gekke dingen. Ook geen aanbetaling oid nodig. Al met al écht een aanrader!

Excellent service, I picked the car 2 hours after booking it near a hotel in Funchal, and returned it later at the airport, in like 5 min. The car was OK, it made some noises but this is understandstable given Madeiras roads. Insurance seems really hassle-free as nearly everything is covered, incl. windows and tires.

Al momento di riconsegnare la macchina, abbiamo avuto problemi con il rifornimento. Dovendo riconsegnare con mezzo pieno poco prima della restituzione abbiamo effettuato ben 4 rifornimenti (nonostante il livello fosse di poco al di sotto del mezzo pieno) perché il livello non si aggiornava nonostante avessimo spento la macchina più volte e dopo aver percorso una decina di chilometri per dar tempo di resettarsi. Alla fine abbiamo restituito la macchina con il pieno. Abbiamo provato a chiedere un rimborso per il mezzo serbatoio in eccedenza ma non ci hanno filato proprio.....

These guys are complete pros. I never write reviews but I felt compelled to this time. Met one of their team members today to pick up the car after a long flight. Got into a small bumper hit into a pole distracted because a kid was yelling in the background. Sergio and his team were incredibly professional. Immediately told me to not worry as stuff happens and switched out the car. This would be an ordeal / nightmare with a big rental company but not these guys. Highly recommend these guys - decent and professional.

We had a fantastic experience with Automatic Rental Cars. We made a reservation late at night and by 10:00am the next morning, our car was waiting for us outside our apartment. Great communication, simple booking process and very reasonable prices. They even called us the day before our car rental finished to ask us about our experience with the car and to confirm pick-up of the car the day after. Highly recommended!

Overall very good experience with this company. They dropped the car off for us at the airport right on time, very easy process. Partway though our rental, the car made some error messages so we sent them a picture and they met us within a few hours (and we were 1 hour away from their HQ) to swap out for a new car. Both the cars we got worked great on the mountain roads. Docking one star because they ask for your flight information for the airport drop off, but didnt account for the fact that you need to arrive at the airport well in advance of your flight. The pick up outside of hours ended up costing us $20 euro extra which was unexpected, but it didnt break the bank.

Automatic Rental Cars is an amazing company to deal with. Two days after arriving in Madeira we got our car stuck in a drainage ditch and an agent drove 30 minutes to get it loose. No charge! Then on the day we were leaving we got locked inside a hotel parking garage while the agents were waiting at the airport. They immediately drove to the hotel to take us to the airport in time for our flight. Again no extra charge. Everything was done cheerfully and professionally. I will definitely be using them in the future!!

We had a last minute vacation on Madeira. So we searched company with good reviews and possible with quick deal. But we were disappointed. At first, we sent an email, no response after one day. After that, we sent an instant message in Wassup application. We asked about payment in advance, whether is it necessary, they said it isnt, and few other details. We got simple responses, and decide to fill form on their website. But what a surprise, at the end, as a last step, payment in advance was necessary. Website also warned us, if we dont pay (the time was until 2 hours), they cant guarantee the car for us. Option - payment down amount - wasnt work, and only full payment was allowed (and it was by insecure payment gate - i work at IT, so i know what im talking about). We didnt pay, didnt have any confirmation by email, so once again, we turned our attention to the Wassap application and asked if we could book car via Wassup. More than 1/2 day we didnt receive any answer. So we chose different company for car rental. After they responded (in the afternoon), we politely wrote them back, that we looked somewhere else. They said Ok, no problem. But this wasnt the end. On day of our arrival to Madeira, we received a message on Wassup, from different number, from someone who confirmed our car booking. So once again, we had to react, and also received an email message, and once again had to answer. Finally, company apologized for misunderstood, and offer to us 10% discount for next time. But this whole experience isnt something that i expect from company who has 5 star reviews. Maybe if we had more time and didnt have last minute vacation, this all could be different.

If you are searching for the car rental options in Madeira - you dont really need to anymore. This is the correct place. Weve arrived in the night (2am) into Funchal, the lady from the company brought us car right to the airport at this time. The car looked like new one, clean shiny Dacia Stepway (I think it had around 8-9k on odometer). Communication with the company was very easy and sensible. The same while returning the vehicle. In the last day of our staying in Madeira, we seemed to have some troubles with hill start assist and the car went to some kind of protection mode. This disappeared after we stopped the car at the gas station. But more importantly - as we called the rental company, they were willing to change the car for the new one. And it was on Sunday afternoon, our last day on island. I mean, thats what I call customer service! Logan, Patricia & Lucas - thanks for the pleasant experience and wish you many more satisfied customers!

We had a nice experience renting from Automatic Rental Cars. The whole renting process went easily, we payed on their website for the car, and they brought it to our accommodation at the time we have agreed on. Alexandre, who brought the car, was really kind and helpful with answering our questions. We rented an Aygo X, it is not the most powerful car but it took us everywhere on the island, it was easy to drive, so I really cant complain. :) I would recommend their service!

We rented a car from Automatic Car Rentals for 6 days while in Madeira and the experience was 5-star. They delivered the car to our hotel in São Martinho and were already waiting at our other hotel in Funchal when we arrived the morning it was due back. How effortless and convenient is that?!! The car was a small 3-cylinder Toyota Aygo. Very cute and easy to drive. It grumbled a little going up all the steep inclines in Madeira but it wasnt an issue, and having a small, nimble vehicle is a blessing when the streets can be tight. Driving in Madeira is a dream compared to Toronto! We had a lot of fun on the winding, hilly roads that, just like the entire country, are immaculately kept, lightly populated and easy to navigate. Great rental company. Picking up and returning the car took place without any problems at the pre-arranged time and directly at the airport. The car was fine, clean, without defects. We are very pleased with the car and customer service, despite a minor discord related to the deadline for returning the car. The staff was very nice and explained all our questions. The rental car was most satisfactory. We rented a Hyundai Bayon with a turbo engine and an automatic transmission, which was a really perfect choice for very steep and winding roads in Madeira, and such a tandem was great. I highly recommend!

I highly recommended renting a vehicle with Automatic Rental Cars. Sergio and Henrique were friendly, transparent, and easy to communicate with. No issues with reservation and payment was smooth. The Toyota Yaris Hybrid is a good combination of size, efficiency, and power for the island.

Would not recommend this to anyone. First we got a car with already worn brakes and after 5 days the brakes were gone. We were lucky it did not happened in the mountains. The second car they gave us also started making sounds. We were ignored and had to wait 3-5 hours for response and could not use the car properly which cost us money and lost time. Really bad experience.

Diese Firma hat das aber gemacht! Übergabe nach kostenloser Zustellung schnell und einfach. Auch die Abholung war ohne Probleme einfach nur TOP!

The best rental car experience I ve ever had. Originally had a Toyota aqua booked for 4 people but quickly realized we were underpowered for the Madeira hills! Was no problem for these guys as they were able to put us in a more powerful car for a small increase. Thank you Sergio and team!

Very good services, the car (Toyota Yaris) was delivered at Funchal airport even if it was late (almost midnight). For return of the car, they came at our hotel in Funchal to pick it up for free. Communication was simple and clear (on whatsapp).

Can not fault the service we received from Automatic rental cars. Car was dropped off at the apartment we were staying at which made it hassle free. Communication for picking up and drop off (which was at the airport) was superb. We hired a small but powerful Toyota Yaris hybrid with a 1.5L engine. It had no problems with any of the steep mountain roads we took it on. I would highly recommend.

Very smooth experience. Employee waiting for us at the airport at the beginning and in the end, no waiting time for anything whatsoever. I understand full insurance is mandatory, so not the cheapest price around the island, but it is comparable with other companies. Got Toyota Aygo with 30 000 km and it was absolutely alright to drive in the mountains with 3 people on board.

I Do not recommend. I Received a car with faulty brakes - the company not only disagree to place a partial refund but also ignoring my emails when I asked to show me a proof that car brakes were maintained and changed in right time.

I was referred after telling a tour driver my difficulties in finidng a rental. Best thing i done! Amazing service, great cover, great prices too. Super helpful, friendly staff / owners. Ensured me and went over paperwork to confirm all was covered. Very reassuring, I had a slight issue after a heavy day of rain and felt I was able to report the issue. Great car and great service from start to finish and beyond. I highly recommend driving a automatic in Maderia if driving around the island, your shins, calves and wrist will be happy you did! Ive rented one of their cars for a week and it was the best experience! the cars were new, it was first time in my life when i received a car with only 1000 km! And above all the personal was super friendly, they gave us a lot of tips, where to go, where to eat and drink like a local. Rent from them, you will not regret it!

I had one of the best rental car experiences. Logan and her colleague were great. They dropped off the car on time at the hotel we stayed and picked up at airport when we left Madeira. Good price, and the car was awesome on Madeiran roads (steep roads and sharp curves). Overall, we are happy with their service.

Perfect car rental experience after being left stranded at the airport by a more well known company. Car was delivered to the hotel, and had less than 200km on it. Automatic essential for the roads round Madeira. Lady delivering the car was lovely and friendly. Perhaps more expensive that others but well well worth it, we ordered very last minute. They dropped off the car at our apartment in Câmara dos lobos. Friendly, helpful, answered quickly on all questions. Had a Toyota Yaris hybrid automatic that was very pleasant to drive and only needed to refill the tank once!
