Happy Bikes em Funchal

This is the second time I hired from Happy Bikes. Always great communication and very helpful. I had the bike delivered for a fee, but was much appreciated when staying a distance from Funchal. Will be using again the next time Im visiting Madeira.

Leider konnte ich meine Reservierung aufgrund von Krankheit nicht wahrnehmen. Es war kein Problem diese ohne Kosten aufzuheben. Nicht selbstverständlich.

Gister in de winkel even langs geweest, vandaag twee MTB FULLY s laten bezorgen 08:30 en ophalen 18:30 omdat we liever zonder gids wilden fietsen (prachtige route via komoot). Echt alles top geregeld en prima fietsen.

Nie trzeba by o p aci kaucji ani z góry za rowery, rower mo na wypo yczy na 4 godziny b d na ca y dzie , mo na zdecydowa po powrocie przy p atno ci. Jedyne obawy to by a mo liwo wyczerpania si baterii i na sam szczyt ju nie pojecha y my. Obs uga mówi dobrze po angielsku i jest bardzo pomocna. Polecam!

Excelente o tour por Funchal com o time da happy bikes. Agendamento fácil direto com a loja, bicicletas em ótimo estado e o guia Rui muito atencioso. E Funchal é maravilhosa por si só.

What a great trip! The tour itself was beautiful and well adjusted to our fitness level and biking experience. The tour guide was considerate and made sure everyone was feeling alright. He also was well informed to answer questions about the tour and the island. Highly recommend!

Very nice and friendly people! The bike has been in perfect shape (race bike from canyon) I will sure rent a bike again here the next time on this beautiful Island.

My airline lost my bike, leaving me stranded on Madeira. I emailed every rental company on the island and Happy Bikes got back to me within half an hour - even though it was almost midnight. Rui helped answer questions and prepare for me to come in first thing the next morning to rent a bike, spd pedals, and a helmet - all in the middle of the night! I highly recommend Happy Bikes for anyone looking to rent!

We had great experience renting e-bikes!! The Owner is nice and super helpful and has bikes of amazing quality (Canyon, Scott, Cube). We even got charging cable and the tools in case we get a flat tire. And the prices are competitive. Highly recommended!

Great bikes and very helpful and enthusiastic service. I got to rent a CF roadbike in my size, not a given with my 162 cm and short legs. The bike was in excellent condition and with Ultegra components. I was also given advise on a good route according to my wishes, a bit of cardio a bit of sightseeing, and was sent a gpx-file. I only wish I would have stuck to the route instead of following the signs because I ended up in some long uphill tunnels breathing in the exhaust of 1980 s cars. Going back and sticking strictly to the route I got both a more scenic and pleasant ride.

Very close to the cruise pier. Take their bike instead of only walk with a limited range. The bike will take you everywhere on this beautiful place. No need to take an expensive (cruise) tour. So nice to be a little adventurous. Nice owners, excellent bikes, good price. The saddles are a little tough. But apart from that, just do it

Very pleasant and chilled guide, great service (pick up at hotel, route ended at hotel), and very enjoyable route with mix of green/blue single trails, forest paths, levadas and roads to scenic view points. You can see and feel they love their island and share that love with you.

Ich habe mein Bike auf unserem Kreuzfahrt Schiff Mein Schiff 1 ausgeliehen. An der ersten Steigung nach dem Hafen löste sich eine Kettenniete. Zum Glück nur 50 Meter von Happy Bikes entfernt. Dort hat man mir sofort und unkompliziert geholfen, die Niete wieder rein zudrücken. Super freundlich und hilfsbereit, nochmal vielen Dank! Nicht einmal ein kleines Trinkgeld wollte die Mitarbeiterin annehmen. Das nächste Mal gerne gleich bei Happy Bikes. Muito obrigado!

great ride today ! pico to funchal - some nice enduro-ish trails at the beginning mixed with a mellow levada and some tarmac roads the guide was great, too -taking great care and paying attention to us and even giving us some indications on how we could ride better - free coaching, yay! see you next time! :)

As far as I can tell, there aren t many places in Madeira to hire a road bike, most places rent out mountain bikes or e bikes. So I was relieved when I found Happy bikes Happy Bikes. They have a good selection of aluminium and carbon road bikes, in all sizes, for rent and they are all kept in great condition. Rui (the owner) adjusted the bike to as close as we could get it to my own bike at home and also provided me with a Garmin bar mount and I saddle bag with a spare tube, levers and a multi tool. My bike had a compact and a 32 cassette, which is a must in Madeira and as I said, was a great bike to ride, with good responsive brakes (essential!) and well tuned gears. I m already looking forward to coming back next year to tackle some more mountains. A final word, as someone else had said, be warned, almost every climb is at least 10% and some have 25+% ramps in the middle of them.

We made private ebike tour with Rui called levada do serra do faial-faja dos rolos: beautiful places in the forest e very nice experience...highly recommended!

Highly recommend Happy Bikes! We had an amazing experience here. We did 2 guided tours. 1 with mountain bikes and another with road bikes. The bikes are top of the line and really well maintained. Rui is super friendly and helpful, and he adjusted the tour perfectly based on our level for mountain biking and fitness level for the road bike. I felt super safe and had a lot of fun the entire time - despite not being a very experienced mountain biker. Get ready for lots of climbing! When we go back to Madeira we ll definitely rent from Rui again.

Dropped in off chance at 10am to hire 2 x e bikes for myself and the wife. 4 hours hire at a good price. Were given 2 quality Cube bikes. Very impressed by the bikes and also the friendly lady who dealt with us.

Rui was an excellent guide and the trails fantastic. He was very conscious of all members in our group and our different riding levels. He waited at junctions to explain the type of trail ahead. I will totally be back here!! Thank you Rui!

This is a first-rate bike rental and touring shop! Rui and his family speak English well and were very helpful in ensuring that we got bikes that were of the right size. We did an MTB tour from the heights that included moderate technical single track but also levada and some (inevitably) steep smaller roads. About 30km of great fun! We also hired eMTB for our own trip to the valley of the Nuns which was excellent - and my wife did another guided MTB tour of around 40 km which she really enjoyed. I had cancelled, feeling slightly unwell that day - but Rui still arranged for me to pick up a bike from the shop for a little local runaround instead. Hire and tour prices are very reasonable. The shop is not on the main drag - but finding it is well worth the effort!!

Après échange anticipé par e-mail, a su me fournir le vélo parfait pour mon projet (un vélo électrique pour sillonner de long en large lîle sur 2 semaines... à peine 300kms réalisé mais 10000m de dénivellé !). Dommage que je nai pû participer à une sortie en groupe cause COVID, peut-être une raison de revenir même si je vais rarement 2 fois au même endroit tant la planète est grande et la vie courte... Merci davoir ainsi participer à faire de mon voyage un excellent souvenir.

We rented two carbon road bikes for the day for a climb up Areeiro. Surprisingly good kit; we were given Canyon Endurace CF with Ultegra groupset - absolutely lovely bikes. They included helmets and tools, the price was extremely good value, and the people in the shop were great. Highly recommended if you want to rent decent kit.

Geniale fietsverhuur in Madeira! 1 dag racebikes gehuurd, top kwaliteit fietsen en goede service. 2e dag samen met gids Edgar gaan mountainbiken! Hele mooie route, kwaliteit fietsen en enorm veel lol gehad met Edgar! Hij kent het gebied enorm goed en nam ons mee naar mooie routes en plekken. Groot voordeel tov andere organisaties is de kleine groep. Wij waren met 2en en de gids. Met een andere organisatie in Madeira hadden we een grote groep van 7 mensen met veel verschil in ervaring! Wij komen hier zeker terug!

Wir haben uns zwei E-Bikes ausgeliehen und waren begeistert. Schon im Vorfeld war die Kommunikation super, Rui & sein Team sind sehr engagiert und der Preis für die E-Bikes ist unschlagbar - mit den Rädern kommt man auch gut in die Berge. Der Austausch eines Fahrrads war nach zwei Tagen problemlos möglich, auch die Rückgabe ging unkompliziert & schnell. Von uns eine uneingeschränkte Weiterempfehlung!

Supernette Leute. 1A Fahrräder, Top gewartet und alles was man braucht gab es dazu. Kommunikation vorher war auch sehr gut. Euch kann man nur weiterempfehlen.

Very FRIENDLY and DEDICATED staff. We rent two road bikes. Luckily, our sizes were available. We could make them install SPD pedal in advance. Helmets we received were almost new. I strongly recommend for individuals or small groups.

Bad experience, bad e-bikes whose batteries kept failing, then had to wait 45 minutes in a village for repairs after which we turned around. In case of complaints with a lot of telephone contact with the boss, half of the amount was ultimately refunded. DONT

We are just back from our cycle trip to Madeira, it was a fabulous experience made better by the help we received from Happy Bikes. They sorted the equipment we needed, pannier racks and specific pedal types to make life easier, anything to make the trip up the hills (of which there are plenty) more comfortable. We did a round the island tour but didn t fancy the last main road drag from Jardim do Mar to Funchal and arranged a last minute pick up with HB to take us and the bikes to Funchal, for a very reasonable price too. We would absolutely recommend them!

Easy to reserve online in advance, excellent location near cruise ships, I booked for 4 hours, if you want to ride uphill (there are a lot of hills around, but waterfront is flat heading right) get an ebike. It comes with helmet. Super friendly and English speaking. Great value for money.

Bester Fahrradladen überhaupt. Unglaublich freundlich, hilfsbereit. Unser e-MTB waren in sehr sehr guter Qualität! Nur zum empfehlen, schnell und einfach. Haben allerdings online reserviert. Wir würden immer wieder zu happy bikes gehen. 7min Fußweg von der Aida entfernt.

Very helpful team. We hired mountain bikes to explore, the old town, marina and covered most if of the flat area of Funchal in one afternoon. We would recommend the Portela mountain tour, some challenging hills as were over 50! Our guide, Dino, was great company, a great ambassador for Madeira and very patient!
