After much deliberation, we decided to rent a car in Portugal for our 30 day trip around the country. We rented from Amoita based on reviews, prices and all the factors one can consider from far away. From the moment Paulo Gouveia personally delivered the car to our hotel near the airport until the time we returned it and he drove us to our AirBnB, the experience was perfect! The Fiat Panda performed perfectly, Paulo gave us detailed instructions for any issues and multiple personal cell phone numbers for his whole team. Even through the jet lag when he brought the car to us, Paulo s words and patience for two first timers to Portugal were appreciated! For us there is no other car rental company in Portugal and no one better to ask for at Amoita than Paulo! He is amazing and we so appreciate him!

O melhor serviço de rent a car em Portugal. Aluguei com a Amoita e todo o processo foi excelente. Cheguei ao meeting point 2, no aeroporto de Lisboa, e estava logo lá um funcionário. Fomos até ao carro, o contrato foi preenchido em 10 minutos, todas as informações importantes foram transmitidas e foi só seguir viagem. Na recolha, pedi para irem ao hotel onde estava hospedado e na hora combinada estava o funcionário lá para recolher o carro. A recolha aconteceu sem qualquer complicação. Destaco a simpatia e disponibilidade dos funcionários envolvidos no processo. Recomendo alugar viaturas com a Amoita.

I was concerned about renting from the major car companies (which I use almost exclusively) based on the many negative reviews I had read so I rolled the dice on Amoita and I dont regret it. Not only did I save money (including very reasonable prices on insurance/collision/etc.), but I also saved time with their pick and drop off service. The vehicle was on the older side (maybe 4 yrs?) but that suited me fine as well. The vehicle ran perfectly; and even the smallest blemishes were noted on the rental agreement w/o me having to draw attention to them upon check-out. Great fuel economy, too. I felt like a local in this vehicle (If youre a driver from the USA, youll feel very comfortable behind the wheel once youre out in country). I would definitely use Amoita again.

From the time we found their website, which was very informative, to the ease of picking up and droping off the car was amazing. Their Customer Service is second to none. Paulo, Debra, and the young man (sorry we cant remember his name) made our experience outstanding. They provide contact numbers in case you require assistance throughout your travels. The second time with this company. The staff is very friendly and pickup and drop off of the car was a breeze! Communication for the return time was easy via whatsapp or phone and allowed flexibility. Definitely would go with them again next time in portugal.

I d recommend this car hire company based on my experience, however have scored 3/5 as unfortunately I booked a group E family vehicle, but got given a group D small wagon instead. They told me no compensation would be given for this, as in 2022 the price would be the same ? The horn in the vehicle also didn t work, and this wasn t a concern to them. On arrival, our car was bought to the parking lot after half an hour wait, and on drop off, again we were met after around 15 minutes wait. There cars aren t actually on-site, but bought to the airport after booking. This is worth considering compared to Hertz etc. No deposit required, no worries on small scratches or dents (apparently, I returned it as I was given it) and generally hassle free.

Car and representative were waiting for us at the airport terminal, and we were quickly on our way. Car was clean and new. Return was a breeze, with rep waiting for us... and we were on our way almost immediately. Would strongly, strongly recommend to anyone.

Not a great experience with this car rental as last September we were charged 780 as the clutch gave in on the motorway after driving the car for just 500K with the majorityon motorways. I am an experienced driver and I have been driving manual cars for almost 30 years however, when I pointed out these facts to Amoita, they blamed me for what happened. According to Amoitas staff a clutch can break even after just 10K. This is absurd. We almost had an accident because of this issue. We could have been seriously injured and that is because Amoita did not carry out the necessary maintenance on their vehicles. Just to respond to Amoitas reply. The lifespan of a clutch is between 40000 to 100000 km. If it was like Amoita claims,only with their cars the clutch needs to be replaced after 500km

I cannot praise Amoita Car Hire and António in Lisbon airport highly enough. António was there to meet us at the airport after ringing us and then messaging on WhatsApp with the exact location of where to pick up the car. The car had on 20,000 kilometres on it and was spotlessly clean. There was none of the usual tricks employed by car hire companies trying to scare you into taking out insurance beyond which had been agreed. I had opted for two extra options and António dismissed our concerns over needing to photograph the car. This is a first in over 30 years of hiring cars. António was there once again to meet us as we dropped the car off and I was as equally shocked and pleasantly surprised as I was in picking the car up by how smoothly and pleasantly everything went. I would never consider any other hire car company in Portugal. This was one of the most pleasant and straightforward problem free encounters in travelling that Ive ever had. I hope that I dont come across as being too effusive in my review but it really was that good. Muito obrigado António.....

Very happy with our choice for Amoita. We came to the off airport location, you need to look for Prior Velho Rua da Guiné, 27. When the booth was too small for our luggage the car was switched immediately to a more suitable one of the same class. The car was great with the best GPS (set in English) I have seen up to now. On return, quick and very satisfying handling by a great customer service. Would definitely do Amoita again.

We used Amoita in 2017 with excellent service for our hire car in Portugal. We returned in 2023 and drove our Amoita Fiat Panda absolutely everywhere. Tiniest alleyways, to the highest mountains and toll freeways. Excellent service from Amoita Staff make it all so easy. Would love to return to Portugal and would recommend this company.

Great overall rental experience. Car was clean and staff was friendly and helpful. One thing to note though...if dropping car off at Lisbon airport pay close attention to parking lot location from representative as it contradicted what was provided in email attachments which resulted in me dropping off in wrong location and additional frustration. If you are looking for a quality car rental with flexible options and various return locations, i recommend Amoita. We hired a car online and picked up at their Lisbon office(different location from Google, but their staff will keep you right. Located just under Master Kings office) and returned the car at Faro Airport (you will need to pay a one way charge) Very quick pick up and drop off, no hassle and very friendly staff. Rented a car from Zest in the UK which then sub-contracts to RC4L then Amoita. So the person who met us at the airport was António Pais. Saw that my wife needed assistance so got the car , a Renault Clio, right to us so no walking. He ran through the paperwork looked around the car, set up the screen to English etc.We kept in touch on WhatsApp during the holiday and when the rain started and the wiper blades split, I was happy to pick up some new ones and get them fixed on as it was pointless for them to bring a new car 2 hours away from Lisbon. So we fitted it in with a visit to Leiria . Antonio sent me pictures of where to go on departure and met us at the Car Park. He paid me for the wiper blades and made sure we were ok to get into airport. Great service and a really nice man. Obrigado!!!!

I rarely give bad reviews, but I found the workflow to be really mediocre. My card was charged, but no confirmatory email was received. I had to reach out to my reservation. After some back and forth with the owner (I guess?) with a lot of attitude in his emails, my reservation was canceled cause apparently Im not respecting their rules when I opted to use a debit card to pay. It might be good for others, but Id personally opt to stay away if you want a hassle free car reservation

Rented from Rent Car 4 Less/Amoita for three weeks, using Zest as a third party broker. We had a new model Nissan Micra with 20,000kms. Unfortunately, during our trip I creased the rocker panel under the passenger side front and rear doors when I scraped a large rock. I got in touch with Antonio via WhatsApp; he was very kind, reassured me that it was covered under the top up insurance I d bought, and to enjoy the rest of the trip. Sure enough, upon return the appropriate paperwork was filled out by me, and that was the end of it. This was a fuss free rental, and I would certainly use this company again.

We rented our car through Zest and was connected to rent4less which is an Amoita company we learned when we picked up the car. Their staff were amazing, met use on time at the airport, walked us through the registration without a problem. They set up easy connections through WhatsApp and were very responsive when we had questions. Their price for an automatic beat everyone else by miles. The car was great and the return procedure as slick as the front end. We would highly recommend this company.

We had a great experience renting a car with Amoita. I was nervous after looking at other companies with very negative reviews in Lisbon and took a chance on this company based on the positive reviews. The rental process was seamless, we communicated via whats app the day of car pickup and delivery. The pricing was very reasonable as well. The car we were provided was new, with less than 8000 km and was very nice, with apple carplay available. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a rental car in Lisbon!

Pire expérience de location d auto. Nous avons due prendre 2 taxis différents pour se rendre puisque la bonne adresse n était pas celle indiquée sur leur site internet et leur adresse google n est pas la bonne, ils ne nous on jamais envoyé l adresse exacte par courriel. L employé était impoli et arrogant à notre arrivé. Lorsque nous avons remis l auto, employé différent mais tout au tant impoli. Il fumait la cigarette a l intérieur du bâtiment et faisait les cents pas en parlant au téléphone, sans nous donner d explications, car il ne parlait ni anglais ni français. Nous avons attendu 30 minutes pour remettre l auto.

What a great company to deal with!! We arrived very early in the morning to Lisbon, and Antonio messaged us right after landing with perfect instructions on where to meet with him in the airport. We quickly filled out the paperwork right there, and he escorted us to our vehicle, which matched what we had requested. At the end of our trip, Antonio once again was there to meet us and we returned it without any issues. On top of the excellent service, on the flight back to Toronto my wife realized that she had left her prescription sunglasses in the vehicle. I messaged Antonio, he found the glasses the next day and immediately put them into the mail for us, without charge!! The combination of good prices with fantastic customer service makes them our first choice when we visit Portugal again. Muito obrigado!!

Great experience with Amoita. Five day rental starting in Lisbon mid October. Good communication and responsiveness to our emails at booking and also before picking up the car regarding their new address. Pick up was efficient and friendly. We drove off and only 600m from the office we were rear-ended at a stop light. There was some damage but minor. We drove back to the office followed by the gentleman who hit our vehicle. The staff at Amoita was very helpful in completing required accident and insurance forms and made copies of all paperwork for us. Very friendly and helpful throughout. We continued on with our trip and the car performed very well. No problems at all. Our return of the vehicle in the evening was quick and efficient. Great service and excellent vehicle!

We rented an economy car from Amoita at Lisbon airport in December. The contact with the representatives was really good, and we received very clear instructions about the meeting point the day before. When you pick your car from the Lisbon airport (note its NOT the location from Google), youll pick it inside of the arrivals hall, just after you collect your luggage. The meeting point at the airport was visible straight away and then the company representative walked us around 5 minutes to get to the car park. We received some helpful tips about how to pay for the highways (we purchased Via Verde upon reservation at the company), how to park and not to leave any luggage inside the car for security reasons. We decided to have the full insurance, which we also bought upon reservation directly with the company). The formalities upon collecting the car were minimum, the process was fast and transparent. We received a free upgrade to a bigger car :) It was in a good condition, clean and with half a tank of gas, which we needed to return with the same amount. I regret not having booked a car with automatic gear, but the insurance for a car with a manual gear was twice cheaper, so we came to terms with driving the old school way. The car drop off was kind of tricky, as there was two entrances to the drop off point at Lisbon airport: one for the uber cars, other for private cars. Eventually we found it, again, the representatives were really friendly and the formalities next to zero :)

Great experience! This is the second time we hired a car from Amoita. First time in November 2017. Now February 2022. They deserve a great review. Everything was as expected, or even better. Anthony (sorry if I misspelt your name) was waiting at the arrivals but also called us immediately after landing to inform where he was and how to get there. We got slightly better car with no extra charge and the car was great. Everything perfect. Highly recommend!

I am really satisfied by the service of Amoita and I would like to recommend them to everybody. They supplied me with a brand new car; the car had only 11 km on the counter. The communication was good and they are always ready to help you. Also their terms and conditions are very favourable. Driving to Spain was for free and the full insurance coverage was very convenient. I had a scratch on the car and during the drop off they were comforting me that I should not worry about it. 10/10 for me.

We had a great experience with Amoita. Their customer service was superb, the car was clean and ready to roll. It was conveniently waiting for us in the terminal garage and where we also returned it. NO NEED FOR SHUTTLES! The Peugeot 208 was comfortable in our 3-week, 1200 km trip. The check-in and check-out process was completed in five minutes each, I highly recommend using their car hire service if you are traveling in Portugal.

Fantastic rental car service. Tania met us at the airport with a sign, showed us to our car, we checked out the car together, and off we went! Super easy, great quality car. Via verde transponder was simple. When we wanted to bring the car back a little later, Tania was easily reachable via WhatsApp and let us know quickly that it wouldn t be a problem. Her colleagues met us again at the airport and giving the car back was just as easy as receiving it. No crazy extra charges after, and unlimited mileage. Would rent with amoita again in a heartbeat. Thank you! Edit: just wanted to add that we drove from Lisbon, to Lagos, to Porto, back to Lisbon over 1.5 weeks and tolls ended up being about 90. I rented a compact-sized car (Peugeot) in May 2022, via hirecar4less.com. Based on my research, this company was the most affordable one at/near the Lisbon airport. Overall I am very satisfied with their service. Condition of the provided car was good and staff were friendly and helpful. I drove it from Lisbon to Evora, to Porto, and back to Lisbon. Driving was smooth with pre-equipped Via Verde toll device. (Still waiting for toll bill) Only one downside was the location of their office, which is not in the airport building. For me, I did not pick up the car upon arrival to the airport, and it was a bit tricky to find their office when picking up a few days later. Even Uber driver was not able to find the exact place. Fortunately I was able to find it when they called me, but without the call I wouldve wasted a lot of time. The office is at the end of the alley. For those who pick up upon arrival to the airport, I believe they wait for you at the gate. I still cant complain that their office is not at the airport because probably thay is why it is cheaper than other rental car companies. In conclusion, I highly recommend this company for those who seek budget rental car. I saved a good amount of money and they did not disappoint me.

We recently rented from Amoita. Debora was waiting for us at the Lisbon airport. She was very friendly and helpful. Look for a sign with your name on it. No waiting in line for 2 hours like with the other car rental companies. Especially after a long flight. Communication before rental with Joao was also great.

Everything about Amoita was exceptional! They had wonderful email communication before our trip, great prices (it was very affordable for us to get full coverage insurance as well), and the car was in good condition. The best part were the people we interacted with when picking up and dropping off the car! They were both so kind and helpful and made the process so smooth. We will definitely rent with them again!

We rented a car with amoita in Feb 2022. We had to pay the full amount up front by creditcard. Based on the positive reviews, we had no hesitation. The contract listed that we would get a full refund minus 25 euros if we cancelled the reservation at least 48 hours in advance. Unfortunately due to excessive problems with lack of staff at Schiphol airport, our tickets were cancelled with no means to rebook our flight. We cancelled our reservation and have asked for the refund. After repeated e-mails, amoita finally did confirm the cancellation, but claims they can not refund our card because the payment was made 90 days ago. They also claim that the system or some form of legislation does not allow them to pay us back through a normal bank transfer, which is 1. totally bogus, other companies have payed back for example accomodation rentals within 2 working days with no reference to any system whatsoever. 2. Not mentioned in the terms of the contract. They claim we can only get a refund by filing a complaint with our bank. Which is an arduous process, and also, our bank has already stated that since we made the payment more than 4 months ago, this route does not apply.

Absolutely exceptional car hire firm. Incredible customer service. Warm and friendly. Efficient and smooth at every stage. We got drop off in down town Lisbon which was super easy. Airport drop off was a breeze. A local firm who are in a super league compared to bigger names. In my experience the big firms are often utterly painful to queue for, deal with and I have been ripped of before by big firms with hidden charges. This is a superb company to rent from.

We selected to use Amoita car rental based on reviews alone and were so glad we did!! We had a fantastic experience with Amoita car rental. They were waiting for us with our car at the Lisbon airport as soon as our fight arrived. They were so kind and spoke fluent English. There were absolutely zero issues what so ever. We picked it up in Lisbon and drove down to the Algarve for 4 days then came back up. It was also easy to drop back off the car at their office after our trip. Thanks again to Tony.

We payed for a car rental, COVID hit, and They honored the two year delay! They are small, and they meet you at the airport, so make sure you know where the rendezvous spot is ahead of time. Also, the drop off location is tricky to find. Ask for a map with started location and not just an address. Good car!

I used this company and was very surprised by the level of service given to me.they were very attentive and nothing was too to small that they would not answer. Antonio was fabulous at describing local events in the various areas where I would be staying in and even met me on the way to returning the Car and guided me to the drop off point.This was not my first time to return a hire car in Lisbon Airport and it wont be my last with Amoita Car rental.

Quite simply, THE best car rental experience ive ever had anywhere in Europe. Fantastic customer service, on both drop-off but especially pick-up, where we met Tania in the airport, she escorted us to our vehicle and took us through the things we needed to know, including a thorough inspection of dents and dings on the car. 100% will recommend and use Amoita the next time I travel to Portugal, no two ways about it.

I really cant say enough about this place. from all the horror stories you hear about Lisbon AP car rental companies, to say it was great dealing w these folks would be an understatement. the car was ready for us when we landed (one day late due to AirCanadas horrid existence). we dropped it off at their off-airport site when we were done several days later. id do it again in a second. the car, which id been worried about as being too small (Group C - EDMV), was perfect for two adults, two children and a bunch of luggage.

I rented a car for 10 days to surf the coast of Portugal and chose Amoita based on reviews and price. I would highly recommend using this company. The price was very good and there were no hidden fees and no pressure to purchase additional anything. The car was in great shape, I was delivered the car I reserved and the GPS and the EZ Pass for electronic tolls we re very welcome. Both Debora and Paul were extremely Helpful and easy to deal with. We had a great experience with Amoita. We planned 1.5 hours from arrival until we made it through customs. It took 45 minutes to get a gate and over an hour for passport control. Deborah waited for us and greeted us at the airport lobby. It was a short walk to the car. It was clean and in good condition. Our return was just as easy, Antonio was there and took the car back. Overall, it was a great experience and we enjoyed having a car to see things not accessible by train or metro. Thank you!

I rented cars already from many providers like Europcar and Hertz. But Amoita has been so far one of the best ones. We picked up the car at their office in Lisbon and also returned it there after our 3 weeks road trip through Portugal. Everything went super smoothly. We booked it directly through their homepage including the full insurance. Thus, they did not really check the car when we returned it. Super easy going and no cheating. 5 stars!!!

Completely unreliable. Their process follows your booking with an unwieldy and unsuccessful confirmation number email that was never acknowledged. All you can see is that your vehicle is an error or already confirmed. Which is it? No response to emails requesting clarification on status of the reservation was received. When we arrived in Lisbon, the problems kicked in. We were directed to a random spot where a colleague would be holding a sign. 45 minutes later, still no colleague. This led to three subsequent phone calls. Then we were informed there was no vehicle for us and they would have no vehicles of any kind for ten days. Avoid Amoita. By the way, in the space below you will see them refute or deny my review. I have read all of the 165 reviews. Curious. Either one star or five, and they refute all of the one stars. No one ever fakes a one star. Trust me I am real. My family with me at the airport, that was real. Book elsewhere. Post note: as I anticipated, and as you see below in the other one star reviews, Amoita dismisses my experiences. To clarify: I certified that I had booked this reservation immediately upon receipt of the email requesting that I do so. Days passed. Nothing. I sent follow up emails. Silence. Just before flying I tried to recertify and received the message error or certification already received. Hmm. I certified two or three time more just to be sure, always receiving this riddlesome message, and arrived mid morning when every other business seemed to be opened and operating. And what can we add to that? A review has been placed on the website of a small not-for-profit that my wife and I have in the States. A Mr. Santos from southern Portugal who calls us a massive financial scheme. We wish. We are a very small financial scheme and not a very good one. But we are not as he says. shoplifters. Very honest, Mr Santos, you reflect the corporate values of Amoita perfectly.

Disappointed in decline of customer service. My third rental with them in April 2022 they left me stranded at their office with no one to receive car. Had to leave it there and ask stranger to drive me to airport. Almost missed my flight. They didn t return money owed back to me for the transponder. I just asked for a quote last week via email like I always do with them and they refused telling me to book online. I tried to address the lack of customer service and he told me I must ve had a bad day! Will be booking from now on with another company. Just my personal experience with them lately.

Please be very very careful when renting car from this company. I was charged twice. Company asked me to provide my bank account but money refund was never send to me. After few months after my escalation they asked me to reclaim money via charge back which was impossible anymore. Contact with this company and employees competencies is nightmare. Company still have got my money (328eu + interest). I need go to Police office to reclaim my money!

We rented a car in April on Lisbon airport. We were charged twice and employee of Amoita told us, that we have to contact with company, and they will refund. We tried to do it many times, and they asked for account details. Unfortunately until now they didn t refund. It was around 330 euro. DON T RECOMMEND

Poor experience with this rental company in September 2022. An issue with the car became apparent when we had a problem with the gears/clutch which almost caused an accident on the motorway in Portugal. Contacted Amoita and they replaced the car and called several days later charging 1000euro due to a damaged clutch. In my opinion, the issue would not have appeared if they had performed maintenance on their fleet. Unlucky customers are paying for the maintenance of the vehicles which should be done by the company. Would not recommend this company at all.

Our experience was very good with Amoita. We usually have used the large companies inside the airport but tried Amoita because they had small minivan with Automatic Trans that we needed. Price was good. Joao was very helpful by email to make a few small changes to the reservation leading up to the trip. Tanya waited and met us as we exited the security area with a sign and walked with us to the car to go over it and do the paperwork right in garage. Very fast, no waiting! The only issue we had was the car only had 1/4 tank of gas which was upsetting as it was already 8pm Saturday and we had to make 1.5 hour drive to our destination so we had to find a gas station that was open. First one we were directed to was already closed. This is only reason for 4/5 rating. Everything else was perfect and 5/5 for week long trip.

Drop off at the airport is very difficult if there is traffic. If you are dropping off or picking up at the airport, ask for very specific instructions.

One of the best car rental experiences Ive had. Representative was waiting for me at arrivals. We went directly to the car, so skipped all the annoying car rental experience of waiting in the line for ages. Quickly double checked the details of the contract, checked the car together and was out of the airport in like 7min. The return of the car was super easy as well. Cars are provided with via verde automatic tolls system that can be used for parking in certain places. Car was in very good shape (Citroen C3 1.2) and was easy to drive. 100% recommend it!

I booked Amoita based on the great reviews. It was truly the worst car rental experience I have ever had. We met the rep at the Lisbon airport, and he told us to wait while he helped the one family in front of us. He left with them and didn t return for over an hour. When we expressed our frustration with the wait, the rep acted like this was standard and that we were unreasonable for thinking this should take less than an hour. When we finally got in our (heavily scratched and dented) car, we pulled out of the airport and the gas empty light came on. They rented us a car with no gas. Once we refilled the tank and got on our way, we called to speak to someone about the service we received. Three times we were told by different customer service people that we should hold while they spoke to their supervisor and then were immediately hung up on. The fourth person we spoke to finally assured us that we would be reimbursed for the gas and that she would work to make sure a discount would be noted in our file. When we returned the car, we were told to go to a busy gas station across the street from the airport where we were to be driven back to the airport by the rep so that their company could save money - again, something we were told was standard and that we were unreasonable for thinking was inconvenient. When we asked about the gas reimbursement, the rep said there was nothing in the file and that they absolutely would do no such thing even though we returned the car with a tank almost full. When I pushed him on this, he said (and I m not exaggerating or joking), the tank was not empty! It had the empty light on! You can still drive the car for 20 kilometers or more with that light on! I have never reviewed a car company before. I understand there are lots of positive reviews for this company. I m not a needy or overly demanding customer. These guys are awful.

Outstanding experience! My wife and I rented a car from March 12 through March 20 at the Lisbon airport to drive down to the Algarve region. The representative met us as we exited the baggage claim. We walked out to the parking garage at the airport and inspected the car and finalized the paperwork. Probably took 15 minutes or so total. Car was a newer model with less than 30,000 km. We returned the car and met just off airport at 5 am in the morning for an early flight. Easy check in and we were dropped off at our gate. The service and car could not have been better. Everything was prompt and on time with friendly service. I couldnt have asked for more. Well definitely rent again when visiting next year.

As others have said, excellent service from Amoita. Rented from them to avoid the terminal and renting nightmare offered by the big companies. In the end, worked out great. In and out quickly, good car, quick return and no attempts to shake me down for more money. Go ahead and give them a try.

She gave me a call just after our flight landed to give us directions to car park 4. Will be using amoita everytime I fly to faro and will also be recommending to our friends. No hassle service. My husband and I just returned from a trip to the Algarve. We used Amoita for our rental from the Lisbon airport because even though we were nervous about using a smaller company, they had great reviews. Believe me when I say, use this company! They were waiting for us with a sign right at the arrivals hall and took us straight to our rental car. The process took about 15 minutes total and we were on our way. When it was time to return the car, we didn t even have to return it inside the parking garage. We returned it at a nearby gas station and had a gentleman drive us back to the airport. Their customer service was phenomenal and they made notes of damage from previous renters so that I wasn t charged for damage that I didn t create. Use this company, I m really glad we did.

They gave a car with air condition working for one day only; second day the AC stopped working; I called the emergency number 5 times and no reply; I sent several et-mail without reply; till they started to respond by saying the car is a new car and it is not possible; then we will change it for you ( after 3 days of talking in mail) I waited for their rep the whole morning as they said we will send you someone in the morning so I waited till 14:30 and I call without reply; I left the house then received a call from their rep at 16:00 asking if i am still in the house to replace the car; second day morning I returned the car ( i paid to that day at night) but decided to gave them back the car because of the AC and they didn t even offer any compensation for the AC that wasn t working or that I returned the car without using the last day because of this problem!! Don t recommend

After reading the horror stories online about renting a car in Portugal from other car companies, we were most pleasantly surprised to have no problems with Amoita, only exceptional customer service. The representative met us at the Airport with a sign, walked us to our car, and checked it out to us -- all in less than 10 minutes. She then met us at the nearby drop-off location (BP gas station), checked in the car, and then drove us to the airport -- again in less than 10 minutes. The car was beautiful and a perfect fit for driving around southern Portugal and Spain. It was spacious enough to accommodate our 4 bags but small enough to fit into tight spaces. The vehicle was well-maintained and we did not encounter any mechanical difficulties. Just to be safe we got the full insurance coverage, which gave us peace of mind on our trip. We also got the toll pass and special permit to drive in Spain and did not run into any problems with either. In our mind, there is no better choice to rent a car in Portugal than with Amoita. It is awesome!

Had a mechanical problem with the vehicle within the first few days of rental, and it was replaced without any hassle at all, even though we rented in Lisbon and went to the Faro Airport location for assistance. Also Amoita staff extended our rental length twice at our request when our flight was cancelled one day and delayed the next. The car was waiting for us on arrival at the airport and staff met us at the time promised upon our return, basically valet service. I normally use the big name car rental companies like Avis but decided to give Amoita a try based on good reviews. I was very happy with this company! They delivered a car which was a big help. Its a no nonsense rental company with excellent customer service and no hidden fees. They are also trust worthy so you can expect to return the car easily and, unless you truly have some damage to the car, they will not discover damage AFTER you have returned it. The employees I dealt with were very friendly and helpful. You might be able to find a cheaper rental but you are risking surprises and unexpected charges. Amoita was a great choice!

I was on vacation coming from the United States. Amoita was the best-rated car rental company in Lisbon and their website was in English so I decided to give them a try. I was really pleased. Just visited Lisbon from US and booked online. They delivered the car to our apartment in the city and picked it up. They communicated very well and were super friendly. They have my trust and I highly recommend.

Most of the other car rental firms in Lisbon have very poor reviews. Imagine my surprise and scepticism when I found Amoita. The grades seemed to good to be true, but I can personally vouch for it now. We hired a medium sized estate that we picked up at the airport and returned after ten days down town Lisbon. The service very quick and friendly and a great help (especially when we hande the car back in the busy trafic). Moreover, the price was great. We forgot a small handbag in the car. Imagine our surprise and delight when the Amoita representative (Thanks Antonio!) went beyond the call of duty and turned up at the airport with our belongings despite a busy schedule. I tried Almoita based on reviews and they did not disappoint. Very helpful and patient with us in Lisbon as it took us a while to get our luggage sorted. Our Rep waited for me and handheld me through everything. We had an emergency situation in the Algarve at one point during our trip (I put diesel in the car, like an idiot), and within an hour they had us sorted out. Highly recommend these guys. TIP: order the wifi for the car.

We rented a Group A car (got Nissan Micra) for 8 days in early October with a full insurance options in a good condition, did a roadtrip all along the Portugal coast (roughly 1600km) and came back to Lisbon without any problems. Since we took a full insurance package, price was maybe a little bit higher than at some other rentals but no hidden fees, small letters, finding scratches days after you returned a car and similar stuff. Representative in their Lisbon downtown office was nice and helpful, picking up and returning a car was more than easy, even gave us few tips which roads to use free of charge (instead of a highway). The only thing that wasnt perfect is that it can take them two-three days to respond if you send them an inquiry via email, but other than that - they do a really good job.

By far one of the best, if not THE BEST, car hire experiences weve had in our travels throughout Europe. I read horror stories of the bigger name brand rental companies at the Lisbon airport and decided to go through a local company instead. So glad we did! We were met at the airport upon our arrival by a company representative with the car waiting for us already at the airport parking garage. By the time we were finished getting ourselves situated in the vehicle, he was finish with his paperwork and we were on our way in less than 30 minutes. Drop off was hassle free as well! Not to mention it was so nice not to have a substantial deposit held on our credit card for days or any hidden fees tacked on during any part of the process! Definitely recommend them to anyone needing a car hire in Portugal!

My wife and I just spent two weeks in Portugal and drove a total of 13 hours from Lisbon to Faro to Lousa to Porto and back and Amoita is AMAZING. I did a lot of research on car companies in the area and Amoita is the ONLY car company worth renting from, all the other companies have terrible reviews, which highlight poor business practices and shady scams. Amoita met us at our apartment in Lisbon, explained to us the motorways, tolls, WiFi, and gps, and got us on our way in less than 10min. We purchased all the insurance options since it was our first time driving in Europe and we were planning on logging a lot of hours and it was totally worth it. As an American, some of the more narrow streets can be a bit daunting and knowing that you have full coverage really makes a difference. The WiFi we purchased worked GREAT and allowed us to look up restaurants, points of interest, and directions no matter where we were. When it came time to return the car, they met us at the gas station across the street from the Lisbon airport, grabbed the keys and had us on our way in less than 5mins without any of the false accusations many other companies try and use on their customers. This was the BEST rental experience I have ever had and recommend everyone to use Amoita, their total insurance package, and get the WiFi! We booked this car rental based on all the positive reviews. The prices were comparable to the other companies, but service was excellent. Waited 5 min in the airport for the representative to pull up and 5 min when dropping off. The representative was very friendly and took at least 20 min to explain to us the rules of the toll roads and other helpful tips. We did purchase a wifi device for the rental which worked great except for a few rural areas. My only suggestion is that vera verde (toll road transponder) is included in the rental, that would have saved a little stress when driving on the toll roads. Also, be aware that driving in Lisbon is not an easy task for a foreigner. Excellent for traveling to more remote locations, but within the city limits, be very careful as Portuguese drivers are very impatient and the rules of intersections are not intuitive. I definitely recommend Amoita!

The problem we had in 2015 with Amoita is that they gave us the wrong car which we refused because it was too small. Amoita refuses until now to pay our money back arguing we didnt pick up the car (No show situation in rental conditions) which is obviously wrong. The fact that they keep all our money and want to go this way risking a legal dispute is showing their bad business practice. Normal people will not go in court for 995 They still keep our money and continue with their bad practice - inform yourself before you spend money for this company!

We needed a rental delivery to a downtown Lisbon address - they were on time, friendly, and gracious. We had to drop off the car after-hours near the airport. Extremely happy with our choice! Service was efficient and friendly, a great mix of relaxed and accurate. As we hate the bureaucracy and scheming of bigger companies, we will have no doubts renting from this family-operated company in the future as well.

We decided to go with Amoita (in Faro) after researching lots of various customer reviews. We were worried about renting a car due to a previous bad experience with another company. I must say the staff and service were fantastic. We had the car for just over 3 weeks. I did buy the highest level of insurance possible, just in case, and this made us feel completely at ease. This also meant that pick up and drop off was simple, with no inspection necessary. The small portable modem was a fantastic adition and well worth the extra cost. Thank you. We will use this company again next year.

Do yourself a favor and let them deliver the car to you and pick it up (15 euros for each). We went to their office to fetch the car ourselves, and the office is hard to find. Theres no external signage, its on an alley more than a street, and the address you see above is incorrect (its 38D, not 33A). The office isnt usually staffed; theyll just come in to meet you. But renting from them was still a great experience--great service, very helpful, very accessible, accommodating, and the car was great. Do note that, if you prepay for a toll pass, it costs $20 (US) per day, but Amoita only gives you $15 total toward tolls. Anything more is charged to your credit card a week or two later. Im not entirely sure how it works if you dont rent the pass. You still have to use one, which they provide, and it looks like you pay the whole fee afterward, which is maybe a better deal. (There are some tolls that have to be paid in cash, by the way.) We also rented GPS, which worked well. Note that the car might not come with gas in it. Ours was nearly out, but theres a gas station down the street (they ask only that you return it with the same amount of gas it had when you got it). Id definitely rent from them again.

This company is great - do not hesitate. I was pretty surprised to find that the old the client is king principle is still kept alive in the car rental business. At Amoita they go the extra mile for customers. They have the cars at a gas station which is very convenient for refuelling and provide very personal service. In our case the plane was 1,5 hours late and after a short phone call we got picked up at the airport and driven to the place where our car (pristine condition) was waiting for us. When we dropped the car before returning home the friendly staff also gave us a lift to the airport. In total - when you compare to what i have come to expect from car hiring (long waiting at the desk, tedious search for the car, problems with baby seat and GPS, long wait again on return to have the car checked) i would without a doubt rent with Amoita again. Quick, friendly and efficient in addition to cheaper. Keep up the good work, guys!!

Excellent service and affordable prices. Stuff is very friendly and professional - provided all needed information and support. The car is in good condition. Location is very comfortable and close to airport in 5min walk . Definitely will use it again.

I have to leave a comment and a 5 stars for Amoitas services. I already read a lot of good reviews about them before I made a decision. And I felt more than what I expected from their services. Compare to Hertz, Rentalcar, Sixt etc. they are quite local company. But their service is more than international level . They are flexible, understandable, and helpful. They gave us a very new car (just 5800km) and so clean. I am happy with their services and all of them (Mr. Rui - on the phone, and 2 colleagues). They are all very nice. Thank you Amoita. In my experience, the staff from Amoita was professional and nice, and I definitely recommend it. They came to get us at the airport, they gave us some advice and infos on how highways work in Portugal, and they gave us a lift after we gave the car back. The car was well working, comfortable, clean, and at a reasonable price. One thing though: I would advise future customers to mark and take photos of every little scratch there is on the vehicle before you take it, even if the person who gives you the keys says they will not charge you for little scratches. In our case, they DID check every little scratch there was when we came back, and two of them were not marked. Fortunately, I had a picture for one, and the other one was small enough that they did not charge us for it. That said, I will definitely return to Amoita when I go back to Lisboa. Thanks.

I hired a car for a week to drive down to the Algarve. Amoita were excellent. They were very easy to deal with... booked through their website directly, we were met at the airport in arrivals and a short transfer to the car depot which is by a BP petrol station. The rep was friendly and spoke good English. The car was in good condition and we had no problems at all. I would use them again.

Was unable to get pricing for next year. Site is not very user friendly

I rented a car thru this rent-a-car and what I have to say is that I was really surprised. I booked the car to Lisbon downtown, I though I had to collect the car somewhere in town but the rent-a-car delivered the car to my holiday address. Really good.

Ive used Amoita Car Rental for several trips to Portugal, including pick-up from the airport in Lisbon, along with agencies in the Faro/Algarve area.
