The worst experience we have had at a rental car company ever, from start to end. Europcar refused to honour our online booking that we made outright, leaving us out of pocket with no choice but to make a new booking on the spot for triple the price. To add to this, the customer service agent at the Rua Castilho office was extremely demeaning and rude from the moment we walked in, making snarky remarks and unwarranted comments to both my partner and I. Europcar definitely needs to work on its staff training and availability of vehicles for its customers
I’ll start with the good, the gentleman who helped us when we returned the car was great. Polite and efficient, this guy deserves a raise. However when we got there this place gave us an electric car when we’d reserved a non electric. Unfortunately my girlfriend couldn’t find the reservation email at that time to prove it to them but they told her she didn’t and clearly they were lying as I can see on the email now that it says Volkswagen and nothing about it being electric and they gave us a Polestar instead. This caused a cascade of problems as we were worried about the battery level the entire trip and the price of electricity is somehow higher than gas which is ridiculous. There’s chargers everywhere but most are slow/medium chargers so you’ll be sitting there for hours just to get 40% or even 10% at the slow ones. If you get a car here get ready to have to fight them when they BS you about what you paid for because they screwed up managing the reservations on their end.
They were so kind and helpful getting us two rental care packages cattle when we arrived with no problems. We were so grateful and very surprised by the affordability so last minute.
Joao at this location completely saved our trip when Chase Rewards decided to cancel our reservation without telling us. Europcar was able to get us a new car so that our trip could continue. Much appreciated!!
One agent for booking in, car inspections and returns. Shameful level of service. The one staff member present is rude to anyone enquiring about the situation. Avoid at all cost!
This was the worst experience ever. There's only one desk with 15 people waiting to get their rental cars. You can do the math—it's at least an hour ++of waiting time. Avoid this place at all costs! The single staff member at the desk is also responsible for collecting and checking the cars upon return. It's a complete joke.
Our experience with this Europcar agency was excellent! The staff was friendly and efficient, making the rental process smooth and hassle-free. The car we rented was clean, well-maintained, and exactly what we needed for our trip. The location is convenient, right in the heart of Lisbon, which made picking up and dropping off the car very easy. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended if you need a car rental service in Lisbon!
Horrific experience here. Never renting from this company again. My booking wasn’t honored. The agent on the desk absolved himself of responsibility for “the call center”. He belittled the issue of having to wait 2 hours for a car that broke down the next day. And another 2 hours waiting for a car change. A really excellent place to rent a car if you want to spend more time on your holiday waiting than enjoying yourself.

ATTENTION !!! Asked today for a used bikebox in the Shop next to Europcar and they wanted 50 Euro. After I made a Picture of the Price Chart, because I found it funny to pay for a bikebox, the employee tried to grab my phone. Also the employee s from Europcar, where it seems that they work together, didnt let me move for 2 hours until I delete the photo. I said NO. They dare to use violence. I called the Police and my Embassy for help. I was then released from this situation. Really rufe staff and unfriendly especially the guy in green shirt from Europcar. The branch manager often insulted me. Please take care, please. For me Europcar in this Area is a NOGO for now.

Ongoing lies from Europecar and I am shocked a company of this reputation continues to lie. We booked at car at 6pm and turned up at 6pm. They closed early and now the agent is lying saying we are late. I have photographic evidence but they stick to lies and answers that dont match the complaint. If you close at 6pm, amend your system so customers cant book to collect at this time its really that simple. Im surprised that staff members who lie are put above customers as its not a good benchmark for a successful company. If they held their hands up and apologised and refunded our costs we would consider booking again but never would after the lies ans terrible service. They dont respond to customer complaints as their responses highlight below. We are out of pocket from their incompetence.
11/08/2024 CUIDADO CON LA EMPRESA SIXT Y JAPRAC RENT A CAR. Se me averió mi coche particular y la compañía de seguros PELAYO (RACE INTERNACIONAL) me proporcionó un coche de alquiler en SIXT Lisboa (R. José Estevao 3) para entregarlo en SIXT (Aeropuerto de Faro) cuando alquilé me cobraron un depósito de 386.10 el día 26.07.2024 que a día de hoy no me han devuelto pero es que sin comunicar nada me hacen un cobro el 02.08.2024 de 42.38 a nombre de Japrac rent a car, vuelvo a decir era un vehículo proporcionado por mi asistencia en carretera, Contestación de esta empresa: En su caso, reservamos 386,1 EUR el 26/07/2024, que no se cargaron en su momento. Los gastos de alquiler ascienden a 204,25 EUR, de los cuales 161,87 EUR corresponden al valor del vale según los costes de la reserva y los 42,38 EUR restantes se han deducido de su tarjeta de crédito, consulte el anexo de su factura. Se han añadido peajes y han cambiado la estación de vuelta de Faro montenegro al aeropuerto de Faro por lo que las tasas de ida son más caras, así es como se incurrió en los más costes 42,38 EUR. Tenga en cuenta que se encontraron daños a la devolución y se retendrá el depósito. NI HUBO DAÑOS A LA ENTREGA DEL VEHICULO Y LA ENTREGA FUE LA QUE ME INDICO MI COMPAÑIA DE SEGUROS. PD: HAGAN VIDEOS Y FOTOS ANTES DE RETIRAR SU VEHÍCULO DE ALQUILER CON ESTA EMPRESA. (COMO HICE YO) EL DIA 11/08/2024 ME INGRESAN LOS 386.1 (YA ESTA BIEN DESDE QUE ME LO COBRARON EL 26/08/2024) AHORA QUEDA RECLAMAR LOS 42.38 QUE SE LO HAN INVENTADO. No me queda nada mas que poner una denuncia para la devolución integra de mi dinero (386,10 +42,38 )

Esperienza molto positiva, a partire dal personale gentile e disponibile. Abbiamo avuto un problema di orari e abbiamo ricevuto una efficiente e veloce assistenza da remoto che ci ha fornito una soluzione ottimale. Ottima anche l esperienza di guida con un veicolo moderno e valido. Super consigliato!
ATTESA INFINITA. Ho noleggiato veicoli con questa ed altre compagnie molte volte in molte città del mondo. Questa è in assoluto la più lenta e male organizzata agenzia di noleggio che abbia mai trovato. Tanto per cominciare non rispondono al telefono, cè solo un call center con una lunghissima attesa. Il personale, sia in agenzia che al telefono, è scortese, lento, inadeguato, non fornisce informazioni precise, non è chiaro sui prezzi. Nonostante la prenotazione online da casa e lorario di ritiro stabilito ho dovuto aspettare DUE ore per la consegna del veicolo. Dopo alcune aggiunte di servizi extra, il commesso alla consegna mi ha strisciato la carta di credito senza nemmeno comunicarmi il prezzo finale, dopodiché ha fatto ironia sul plafond della mia carta. La moto mi è stata consegnata con la gomma posteriore quasi liscia e altri piccoli problemi dovuti alla carente manutenzione (olio, freni e ammortizzatori). Lassicurazione più alta disponibile ha comunque una franchigia di 400 euro. La riconsegna del veicolo ugualmente lenta (circa unora). Sconsiglio: se ne avete la possibilità rivolgetevi altrove. A Europcar consiglio invece di formare in modo più adeguato il suo personale e fornire un servizio clienti decente.

1 h d attente, voiture vérifiée en vitesse avant le départ et on me demande de quitter pour laisser sortir d autres personnes. Évidemment pas bien fait le tour du véhicule, pneus lisses et impact sur le pare brise facturé au retour. Faites attention
State attenti sono molto furbi, la macchina che avevo fissato non c era col discorsino di pari categoria mi è toccato una macchina molto inferiore. Hai nostri amici addirittura gli hanno dato una macchina per 4 persone spacciandola per 5. E no così non si fa .

Great cars, affordable prices and the staff was always very friendly with me.
Collecting the car was time consuming, only one agent available, had to wait about half an hour. However, I was offered a better car ( automatic), having a premium insurance save all the troubles on drop off. Returning the car at Lison airport has been a bit of challenge as trying to find in advance where the car return is located was not easy, there should be a map ( not google..) with some directions on the Europcar site. But when reaching the airport area, the signs gets us to the place. The only thing I didnt like is that they initially block a deposit of 100 euro on your card, in case you do not bring the car back with the fuel you got, and refund will be in 3-5 days they say( still waiting..) .

Worst ever experience. We arrived with a reservation, the lady in the counter said therss no cars available to comeback in 1 hr, we come back for the reservation and she asks us to wait 2 more hours. How is this sensible in any way? Terrible customer service. Honestly, making people loose 2 hours without caring.

La demora desde q llegamos gasta poder irnos fue de más de 1 hora y media. Reserve una camioneta Volvo XC60 y me dieron una DS7 q está muy por debajo en calidad y precio, mientras hacía el trámite para el alquiler le pregunté al muchacho q auto nos iban a dar y jamás me contestó , me dijo q lo estaban yendo a buscar, la cuestión q tardo casi una hora en llegar más el tiempo q demoramos en hacer los papeles ya no tenía ganas de pedir q me cambien el vehículo, lo único q queríamos era irnos. Muy malo todo!!! No lo recomiendo para nada!!!

Die Buchung über die Webseite wurde 2h vor Abholung storniert, weil das Motorrad nicht zur Verfügung stand. Dazu wurde der gezeigte Preis der Webseite vor Ort deutlich überschritten. Die angezeigten 79 /d auf der webseite, waren vor Ort dann 145 /d. Personal vor Ort war sehr freundlich und Hilfsbereit aber die Organisation an sich, ist ganzschön fragwürdig. Ein Kunde weniger!

Rental car companies get a bad reputation (and Ive had my share of experiences that werent so pleasant with other providers), but I was pleasantly surprised at the service at this location. I was originally looking at renting at the airport but reviews were a mixed bag of experiences and also didnt want to deal with wait times usually experienced at airport rentals. Thankfully we didnt need a car right after the flight. There was no wait time when I picked up the car and every staff interaction we had was pleasant (everyone was willing to give a helping hand). Drop off experience was quick and smooth as well. Its a great location if youre looking to drive down to the south. The route to highway is nearby and not too complicated for a foreigner to navigate. Would definitely rent from here again.
Long wait. Very very laid back staff. Gave me the wrong car to what I booked even though I came on time. Car had lot of scratches and dings which I had to point out. The service guy didnt when notice these until I pointed out and had him mark them on the dispatch sheet.
Once again didnt get the car I rented. Told VW ID3 I had rented wasn t available. I had booked pickup for 12:30 pickup but rang to see if car would be ready for 11am, they took time to check and I was then told that would be OK. It was about 12:15 before a large Citroen C4 turned up. Refused it. Got same car as VW ID3 but different brand. Left about 12:30 so ultimately OK.
Punto di noleggio Europcar in città, in posizione molto comoda di fianco,ad uno dei giardini pubblici principali di Lisbona. Aperto anche la domenica. Personale simpatico, preparato, efficiente.

Moitié du réservoir à larrivée, jai fait répéter 2 fois à lagent quil validait la même quantité au retour. Javais 4/8 jai rendu le véhicule avec 5/8 jai été facturé 48 h après de 50 euros 30 pour le carburant et 20 pour le service! ! Une véritable escroquerie organisée!
alugei uma BMW GS1250 Triple Black, e só posso falar bem da experiencia. Fui bem recebido, colaboradores simpaticos e prestaveis, deixaram-me escolher a versão mais adequada da moto, ( porque existem 2 versões com 2 alturas destintas ) ajustaram a altura do banco, dentro da possibilidades que a GS oferece. A moto estava mecanicamente impecável, e bem cuidada. Vou voltar e experimentar outros modelos BMW. Aconselho alugar moto na Europcar Castilho.
I rented a bike, when I returned it they tried as hard as they could to find scratches (which there was a fair few, not from me)~ fortunately I had pictures so they gave in. Then they charged me for an extra day because I bought it back later than when I picked it up, because I was following what it said in my emailed invoice. When I told them they should have told me that when I rented it, they seemed confused and annoyed. But I excepted the charge for a whole another day, then I had 3 different employees explain to me why this was over and over again while I stood there and said I understand for 20 minutes. They don t understand English that well, but it just was rude.

Eu fiz no site a locação de um Volvo, recebi a confirmação de um Volvo, e quando fui levantar o carro me foi ofertado um veículo que não estava na mesma categoria do Volvo! O atendimento foi ótimo na agência, o veículo ofertado não atendeu às expectativas!
jai loué une voiture pour partir 4 jours à Comporta avec mes 4 enfants et ma femme. La voiture mis à disposition nétait pas la bonne catégorie (Daccia Jogg). 3h pour obtenir la bonne voiture puis encore 1h dattente car pas prête... finalement nous avons eu une Peugeot 5008 avec la ceinture centrale arrière qui ne marchait... solution proposé : 1. annuler nos vacances / 2. prendre la Daccia Jogg mais partir sans les bagages / 3. prendre la Peugeot 5008 avec le défaut... et maintenant que la voiture est rendu, évidement, Europcar nadmet rien et ne veut accorder aucun rabais sur la location. Vraiment une expérience client nulle et aucune considération

Un peu long a la réception, mais service efficace et voiture en très bon état.
Experiência ruim, aluguei um carro e paguei ainda no Brasil, retirei na loja no início da manhã e o funcionário não me explicou nada, simplesmente preparou os papéis, colheu minha assinatura e me deu a chave do carro (foi bem seco comigo). Depois que saí com o carro percebi que estava bem sujo por dentro, com o painel todo empoeirado e os vidros embaçados e manchados. Não tive como voltar, pois estava saindo de viagem para Porto. Por uma infelicidade, arranhei levemente a ponta esquerda do pára-choque dianteiro, ficando uma pequena marca de aproximadamente 5 cm. Na devolução do carro avisei sobre o arranhão e me cobraram absurdos 220 Euros. A funcionária ainda me questionou porque não contratei o seguro deles, respondi que o colega dela nem me ofereceu na entrega do carro. É uma grande empresa, mas com certeza precisam melhorar o controle de qualidade na entrega dos veículos aos clientes.

good service high price
The car had obviously scratches etc. but was clean and in very good technical condition - made some 1200+ kms on it. I liked the quick and friendly staff during pickup who advised me on driving specifics in Portugal. They were also fast on drop-off point at the airport. I also liked the toll device option so I did not have to hassle with it and it actually saved me money. My advice to everybody complaining below - pay full damage protection and road assistance which will save your time and money. Especially in case you need a car for more than a day so the risk of someone scratching your car is getting high. It happened to me that someone scratched the car with key, someone hit the mirror and rear right fender during the night on parking lots - all covered, hassle free drop-off.

Muy buen servicio, bien explicado, buen precio(habiendo visto otros, el vehículo que nos dejaron muy bien, el seguro cubre todo desde el precio simple y flexibilidad a la hora de recogida y entrega( no varía el precio del día completo) y el papeleo se hace rápido. Muy contentos.

My rent end yesterday, no one respond for any 4 different phone numbers that i try ar erupcar rent company. I got to the place i need left the car like i should and no surprise, no one was the and agin no one answered the phone call. I have photos for prove. Im tired to deal whit that. I never had such a bad experience like thet. I never feel more helpless. Shame that your work whith company like thet and more then thet your the agency that can close dil and take many but you left me on my one whit this. No doubt im not going recommend about you and you terrible service. After waiting for almost half an hour at the place where the car was returned, thinking about what to do, I decided to go back to the guest house where I was staying. and the ability to contact you. I got into a state of such a severe anxiety attack that it put me in even more danger out of the fear that I committed a crime for not returning the vehicle on time and on the other hand leaving the vehicle there unattended with the key can easily be stolen. I hope you will find a way to change the situation and compensate for the heartache created by Europcar Your not answering email and you phones number

Unfortunately, I have to write bad review again on Europe car, this time Lisbon. We reserved accidentally a car for a month before our visit. Not noticing, we did the mistake. We couldn t get a refund and had to turn a 3rd party to try and make them give us back some of the money of the trip. For now no good news. Than we made new reservation for the correct date, we reserved Nissan Qashqai, and ofcourse, they don t have the car . The representative tried to make us take a ford focus instead. With no compensation, while he was lying and saying it s the same level of a car. We had to wait for 30 min to get a better car that fits our reservation. 30 min later, still didn t got it.

If i could leave 0 Stars - I would. The car we received was in an incredibly bad condition. Outside we found a lot of massive scratches and deep dents. Even the trunk could not be closed properly because the Car had an accident in the past. The inner space was quite dirty and hasn t been cleaned before. The second point is that we have been charged for an extra 24 hours towing service but we were not made aware of this. So you should read what you sign when fetching the car really carefully! Never rent a car at europcar again.
If I could give zero starts, I would! Very disappointed by the service at this European location. The waiting time was more than an hour, no difference is made between those with or without a reservation. We had a reservation and had to wait more than an hour, with some people in front who spent 40 minutes at the desk because they couldn t make up their mind as to which car they wanted. We were there with two small kids. I seriously don t recommend you to book a car here unless you have nothing else to do of your day. Will never book here again.

Rented a car online and picked up at location. It was easy and smooth.
I rented a car from them almost 7 months ago, everything was fine. Today, 20 minutes before the office closing time, my card was debited with a small amount. Of course, they dont answer the phone 20 minutes before closing... Im very angry because I thought that Europcar was a more serious and fair company than this one and I dont need to fear them with my bank card details. I was wrong. Until I get my money back and I dont get an explanation as to why my bank card data is still being stored 6 months later, Im sure this rating will remain.
Rented and everything was fabulous...2 weeks after we got home an extra 90.00 charge arrived with no explanation...be very careful giving out your information to them.
They charged me with me with additional payment two days after I returned the vehicle, without any notice and explanation. They never reply when you write them asking about something.

They took the signed contract upon return of the car, and never e-mailed me a copy as promised. Also, my credit card was charged extra 3.5 months after the rental. They do not pick up the phone so Ill have to contest it with my bank.
We tried to return our car during business hours but no one was there. A man who works in the car washing area told us the Europcar employee was late and wouldnt be there anytime soon. We had to do the unattended drop-off, which would be fine but now were seeing a huge charge on our credit card. The car was pre-paid so theres no reason for such a huge charge, and we cant reach Europcar to find out what its for. Looking at the recent reviews for this location, it seems this is a trend, and the responses from the management are totally unhelpful. Theres clearly an issue and telling people to email some random Europcar address is very unhelpful. Seems shady and unprofessional. Edit - predictably, the owner has responded to my review with the same useless response that they gave to everyone else. Theres no attempt tp actually help customers resolve the issue. I very much regret using this company. To the owner, if you actually want to help, please respond to us. Dont direct us to a website.

We rented a premium SUV that broke down on the highway shortly after getting it. The customer service center told us it was unsafe to drive and we needed to drop the car off immediately. With no replacement car available we had to cancel the rental, however they still charged us in full for the three day rental, claiming that nothing was wrong with the car.

I rented a car from Europcar in April. The car and the service were good, people there friendly. But surprise, in September Im receiving notifications that I have to pay fines/penalties because The reason for issuing the penalty is that payment of the toll by credit card, whilst using a rental car, was refused by the customer. This is outrageous because I paid for the Electronic Payment Tag/Pass option and I most certainly did not refuse such charges. I did not even received any invoice/bill, nothing to pay such extra-charges (if they would have arrived, would have paid them, no problem)! The fine-collection company they use (EPCplc, a UK-based company), just ignored my multiple requests. I provided all proof: rental agreement (that included the option), I told them I did not received any bills, asked them for proof of what bills were sent that I refused to pay. To no avail. The answer I got was an empty : There are no grounds to accept your representation as the issuing organisation has confirmed that a valid contravention has occurred, and no evidence has been presented to mitigate its notification. This is just wrong. I am paying this fine, but Im taking them to court. This is just ignoring any customer-protection laws and common sense. Not sure if this is Europcar or the collection company (EPCplc), but Ill never rent from Europcar again (and for sure cannot recommend it to anyone). Too bad about this, because the service and the car quality provided by the people there was good. This is a most glaring failure of bureaucracy.
When I rented a motorcycle, I clearly stated that I need the electronic toll device on the highway. Because of the negligence of the staff, I now need to pay 90 euros. The worst company in history and the worst service. Customer service doesnt want to be responsible, store employees evade each other.
The staff were kind and courteous. Finally, I returned with a full tank of fuel, but there was a very small gas station right near this store (in the direction up the hill). If its empty, its close and convenient.

Had reserved a bike but got called one day before the pick up date to let me know they did not have my size available. People at the store were nice and friendly. I suppose the problem is more related to an organizational issue.

Ask you to bring your ID, credit card and drivers license. My ID is a Danish digital one. They wanted a physical one. I walked for 50min to get to the place.

Caros, estes Senhores estão a vender as bicicletas. Colocam anúncio no OLX a dizer que os preços são negociáveis... O cliente chega a garagem da Castilho e pergunta se os preços que estão nas bicicletas são fixos, o Vendedor com pronto discurso diz que não quer ser Marroquino e por isso os preços são fixos. Dada a arrogância, muito boa sorte nos próximos tempos.

TERRIBLE. AVOID. Stole 150 for no good reason. The vehicle was in bad condition as well, the tyres almost bald. Not good, I made a complaint and they tell me to go away and get f*^£!
