AVOID at all costs. Unprofessional and rude. My international flight was delayed and arrived a few hours late to pick up the car. They tried to charge me €160 more than my original booking - claiming the rate I had already paid had expired and outright refused to give me the car. I spoke to Andre and Ricardo on the desk. Most unhelpful. Will never book with them again. I would recommend using Centauro instead in Lisbon.
DO NOT GO HERE! Go to Europcar down the street. Initially our booking was $300 euros per car for the week and we booked two cars. They then proceeded to try and charge us $2000 total for the week when we arrived for our rental pickup to get the same two cars. Accidentally their system let us make two bookings under one account, which they said is not allowed in their policy. They offered no support to help and fix it or explain exactly what the problem was. We had booked our rental cars for the week and when we arrived we were basically turned away and offered a price double what we had actually booked ahead of time. We just walked down the street and went to Europcar with no reservation and were able to get the smoothest rental that was reasonably priced for great cars.
Grossly miscommunicates price. Important to note, I have hired cars before, and hire cars for a living back home. I know what the go is. We booked online, and looked comprehensively at the costs, and the cost was 73.55 euros for one day. Which is reasonable and comparative to those back homes. We know there is usually a fuel + deposit charge, so expected that (even though it said nothing about that in the agreement). What was sent to us was a reciept confirmation and a terms and conditions, nothing about additional costs. We arrive to find out the 73.55 is one portion of the amount, and we need to pay significantly more for the deposit, covering the fuel, insurance, the car itself (?) and a bunch of extra taxes and surcharges that arent communicated until the last possibile minute. You are coerced into continuing otherwise you lose out on the 73.55 euros. After the experience, we are told we will be charged a toll fee - and that it "shouldn't" be much - 54.35 euros!! But overall, the whole experience costed us 267.31 euros. thats nearly 400% more than the communciated cost through the booking website. In Australia, which is considered a relatively high cost of living - a full 24hr car hire would be at most 60 euros TOTAL. Absolutely not worth it. I should add, the person who helped us as very nice and helpful. But unfortunately great service does not undermine this absolute day light robbery.
Awful customer service. They will try hard to tip you off and will not be helpful. Would never use this company ever again. Please avoid.
When returning the car, the staff kept urging him to get off work! I recently received a credit card payment request from this car rental company! What was the fee that they didn't tell us? Really bad👎
I didn’t mind the long line in July it is probably expected to wait a lot for your car they had 3 people working but had a very bad experience. After I waited almost an hour to get to the counter. I gave them my reservation number and they told me that they could not give me my car because it was made in the name of my company. Now I made that reservation over the phone with budget back in the US. So they said I had 10 minutes to decide to cancel my reservation or call customer service in the USA or I was going to be charged for it They offered to reprocess the reservation under my name but at the counter the price was more expensive. I found the time to download the app in my phone and make another reservation while 20 people were skipping me. And I got a reservation for a different car that costed me more. But got a better car at least. I tried to get just a refund for the difference within prices by budget. But they refused to do anything so please avoid this place, very bad experience.
I received an upgrade, great new car, I wasn't pressured into buying an extra insurance and the personel was very attentive and friendly. I can highly recommend this place. If people don't read the details of a contract before such as having a credit card instead of just a debit card it's not the rental car company's fault. I think this place deserves 5 stars.
We reserved a Citroen for 3 days from Saturday to Monday. We picked up car on a Saturday at 12:25 pm (this is an important fact) The line was long and messy. People ahead of us had been waiting there for over an hour. We originally reserved a Citroen but ended up with a Fiat. We returned the car on Monday around 1:20 pm. We found out then that the place was closed from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Although someone was there at the time we arrived, he refused to accept the car and insisted that we be there in person to return the vehicle. When the location finally reopened after a 2-hour lunch, we were informed that we were going to be charged an additional $60 euros because we kept the car for an extra day. See, because we took the car 12:25 pm on a Saturday and didn’t return it until 2:30 pm on Monday, we had technically kept the car for an extra day. When we asked if we could have the car for the rest of the day, the guy at the counter said he had already closed the contract and could not give the car back to us. Sadly, if you want to drive around Portugal, you have to deal with this company.
Esperei 1:40 min para receber o carro que veio com os vidros sujos e a mala com areia. O passe verde não funciona. Vou ter que voltar para trocar. O que salva é a simpatia dos atendentes.

Rental company to avoid at all costs. Big scam. Refuses to issue you a car even though you have paid, and refuses to reimburse you. Unable to contact anyone for reimbursement. Really mediocre.
Quanto a serviço de locação tudo correu bem, só não concordo com o débito de valores no ato do contrato pois o cancelamento é previsto. Isso ocorre também na retirada do veículo, o caução de 300 euros é lançado no seu cartão com promessa de devolução no prazo de 10 a 15 dias. Mas isto ocorre com todas as locadoras. Agora fico no aguardo da devolução da diferença, espero que corra como prometido.

Avevo prenotato una opel corsa al prezzo di 105 euro per quattro giorni. Vado a prenderla non era piú disponibile. Mi offrono una station wagon e mi dicono che la somma da pagare è di 152 euro. Dopo 4 giorno riporto la macchina e mi fanno pagare 205 euro. Truffatori!

Its a big joke. I did a car reservation to pick it up from prac de Marques Pombal but its not there . Its not even close. The website and google maps are missleading. You need to walk up to the top of a hill with suitcases to reach the place. Not recomending
No hay ningun budget en esta direccion...es el hotel NH..deberian darlo de baja ya que molesta muchisimo que uno se tome el trabajo de venir hasta aca y no haya ningun budget. Estuve 15 minutos dando la vuelta a la manzana y preguntando a la gente para ubicarme. Budget esta al lado de avis.

Facile dacces, en plein centre ville pour qui choisi de ne pas avoir de voiture en ville et de louer uniquement quand cest necessaire. Parfait quand on decide de partir en week end. Equipe chaleureuse et competente !

I usually never write reviews but the service was just too horrible I had to share our experience. We went to get our car at budget lisbon last friday morning (june 21) and the customer service was the worst. Don t worry, everything was okay with the reservation and the car, but the woman who took care of us was so unpleasant and for no reasons. We had a lot of questions because we are tourists and it was the first time we rented a car but that was no reason for her to be so rude and grumpy. She would answer our question as if she was mad and wanted to finish with our reservation as soon as possible. That made us feel unsafe about renting a car with budget.

- waiting times above 2h - when we got to our turn, there were no cars available even though we paid for the car 1 month in advance. - the sold more cars, than the ones available and as a consequence we re not getting a refund for the hours and day that we don t have the car in our possession - very bad service and bad management

Double check the pickup location (Google Maps has it wrong!!) - Budget is co-located with Avis at R. Castilho 167 E, 1070-050 Lisboa, Portugal, just north of the InterContinental hotel. Car pickup was smooth, no pressure to upsell. Definitely get the electronic Via Verde if you travel outside the city - all highways are tolled.
