When we arrived at the airport to pick up the car we waited 45 minutes for our lift there. The rental process again took another 25. Dropping off the car was a complete disaster. No one is there to see you, they are not quick to return the car and when you say we have a flight to catch they said, "you should have come earlier". They are not ready to do business and you do not need this stress on holidays.
Positives: There were no problems on return. Full/full fuel policy. They picked me few minutes after call. Victor was friendly and honest. Negatives: They have not been waiting at arrival. The car was booked by the AddCar agency, AddCar did not provide a direct line for Azores Rent Car. It was hard to recognize they were not present even on Parkplace. It is hard to recognize that AddCar=AzoresRent Car and then to find their number. The car had dozens of minor scratches almost everywhere. It would not be a problem but some of them were not marked at records and I had to request complete records. The car was not washed and it was difficult to recognize what is scratch and what is dirt. Since I did not want to pay 50% extra for All-inclusive insurance I had to spend more than 30 minutes taking pictures of all scratches. The deposit was 1900 EUR.
Listen carefully , we lost our baby seat in the plane they understood and gave us one for FREE "Normally you have to pay" they understood our situation and were very kind also , take the insurance it's worth it they won't even look at the car , people who complain literally didn't take the insurance, I had the best experience , took us on time dropped us on time 10/10
Prime Azores Rent-a-Car took care of my Fiancé & I on our recent trip to Santa Maria, from the moment we landed, thru departure. They provided around-the-clock support, assistance with accommodations, and incredible restaurant / hiking / site-seeing recommendations to make the absolute most of our time on the beautiful island. We were thrilled with the quality of the car and ease of pick-up/drop-off, and beyond that, the wonderful courtesy of the Prime Team to answer our questions and ensure our most memorable vacation! I cannot extend enough thanks to Prime for their attention to detail, charisma for welcoming guests and taking the utmost care of us, and their support. We will be back! Do not pass up Prime for your car rental / tour needs on Santa Maria.
Even though they mention they will be waiting with a sign with your name, they won’t be there when your flight lands. Make sure you save their number and call them when you land. Took an hour to get the car. Lots of apologies and slow service. They charged me the wrong amount of the deposit and took 5 business days to recover. I scheduled a drop off at 5:45 am because my flight was at 7. They confirmed the drop off but nobody showed up. Left the car and had to beg a stranger passing by to drive me to the airport for cash. Almost missed my flight. Obviously there are no taxis at that hour. Just got another apology message from this business.
We visited Ponta Delgada three years back and had a shady and very bad experience with a different rental company. This time we chose Prime Azores. Price was great, service friendly, car clean and in good condition. I will definitely use them again. Very convenient and and great service!
Very dubious company to say the least… At pick-up the employee argued with me to subscribe for their full coverage for 30 minutes even though I had contracted a full coverage from a third party. At the return we inspected a first time the car with the employee which stated that the car looked in good, and clean with no new scratches or damage and kindly offered to drive us to the airport. She asked to go by herself to the office to take some paperwork. She came back after 5 minutes and could within a second (surprisingly) notice a very tiny bump on the front left side hardly visible if you don’t use you hand to actually touch the surface. I argued that such micro-bump would most likely have not been spotted at the check-in inspection. But the employee argued that they have a very stringent inspection of the vehicle before check including pictures. I therefore kindly asked to have a look at the picture of the vehicle when it was last returned so we could in good faith check if that bump was already pre-existing, to my dismay that request was rudely rejected by the employee (« I cannot share pictures with you »)… this is at that point when I felt being scammed… I mean the employee had a first inspection for at least 5 minutes and concludes that the car is clean and in good condition she then pretext that she has to go to the office comes back ten minutes later with laser vision able to detect micro bumps (pictures is attached I let you be judge) and then refuse to share any previous pictures of it he car even though she claimed that they have a very strict process for inspecting the car with records. I found it very, very dubious… To make things worst the employee could not find the part in the catalogue and decided to charge 372 Eur but without showing the price list for the different parts, I am not even sure what I paid for… As I started preparing the claim to the third party insurance, I realized that that « Prime Azores Rent a Car » had actually provided me with a compact vehicle instead of a compact SUV (downgrading) but still charged me the price of the later (this is the first time this happened to me with a rental company) Recommendation for future users: Take a detailed video of your rental car before finalizing the pick-up. I think this company is using very poor practices to make money...
Booked the car via a German Third Party Website (check24) and naturally was hesitant what to expect. The experience was great. - Station is not directly at the airport, but its a short 8 minute drive and they pick you up complimentary - Quick processing, easy paperwork - Normally there is a deposit requirement but they waived that for us and we got a great car (see picture) - There are not many "automatic car" options on the island and this was definitely the top value for money in this range of cars (eventhough I am pretty sure we got an upgrade) - Communication throughout was lovely - Car was clean, new (5k kilometers) and drove very well Well done Prime Azores Car Rental! Ps.: They kindly asked if we review at the end of our 7 day rental, but never pushed and they never mentioned that the car was upgraded (It just felt like a class bigger than we booked). So I genuinely want to honor this great experience

Auto und Preis ok, leider Organisation echt unzuverlässig. Die Firma ist nicht direkt am Flughafen, sondern in der Stadt. Man sollte am Flughafen abgeholt werden, doch sie kamen erst nach Anruf viel später, bei Rückgabe war Laden zu, musste zweimal hin, um den Wagen abzugeben. Mit fliegenden Haaren durchs Gate, beinahe Flug verpasst. Würde ich nicht nochmal machen, sondern auf eine der Firmen ausweichen, die direkt am Flughafen sind.
My experience was very good with this company! I traveled to Santa Maria without a reservation, in August and although I do not recommend coming without a reservation, Flavio did not hesitate to help me and give me all the possible options. A very kind boy, decisive and involved in his work. Sometimes the difference between one company and another is its workers.
Ottima esperienza, nonostante non siano al terminal come immaginavo e nonostante abbiamo dovuto aspettare un po prima che arrivassero con la navetta poi tutto si è svolto rapidamente: auto comoda, restituzione rapida e grande precisione e cordialità. Mi hanno immediatamente sbloccato il deposito lo stesso giorno della partenza. Tutto ottimo.. Consigliato!!
Service désorganisé pour la récupération de la voiture et le retour de la voiture, ce qui a amené beaucoup de stress inutile et nous avons perdu beaucoup de temps, je e recommande pas.
Mala experiencia con esta empresa. Lo reservamos por internet en la página de solutioncars. Mejor alquilar sin intermediarios. Ya en la oficina de prime azores rent, les enseñe la reserva que tenía, pero no me explicaron que yo ya tenía pagado el seguro a todo riesgo y pagué 160 a mayores. Esto es duplicar el seguro cuando ellos que lo saben perfectamente no me lo dijeron. Se lo reclame al día siguiente pero se negaron a corregir el fallo.
Molt temps despera per poder tenir el cotxe disponible, mala gestió de recollida a la sortida del aeroport. Ens han fet pagar lassegurança a tot risc per no tenir targeta de crèdit, no quedava indicat a cap lloc. Molt descontents amb lexperiència!
Contratamos un coche con Prime Azores, cuando llegamos al aeropuerto no sabiamos donde estavan y tampoco contestavan al telefono. Llegamos al punto de encuentro no podian llevarnos a recoger el coche porque no tenian transporte para todos los que esperavan hasta la oficina. Finalmente una chica de la empresa se ofrecio a llevar a los conductores hasta la oficina de Prime Azores. En su oficina fueros muy lentos para darnos el coche y la ultima sorpresa fue que nos cobraron un suplemento de 130euros por el seguro a todo riesgo, dado q en ningun lugar explicitavan que era necesario tener targeta de credito. A una familia con 4niños(pequeños)los dejaron mas de 45min esperando en el parking del aeropuerto. No volveremos a reservar coches con esta compañía
NICHT ZU EMPFEHLEN! Bei unserer Ankunft war niemand vor Ort, obwohl bei der Buchung ein Meet and Greet in der Ankunftshalle mit einem Schild versprochen wurde. Wir haben extra eine spätere Zeit angegeben um genügend Zeit zu haben. Nach mehreren Anrufen auf verschiedenen Nummern wurde uns gesagt der Fahrer der uns zur Autovermietung bringt wäre in 10 min da und wir sollten vor der Türe warten. (Wo wir uns onehin schon befanden) Es kam niemand und weitere Anrufe wurden nicht angenommen. Erst als wir unter einer anderen Nummer angerufen haben, hebte jemand ab. Die Dame meinte sie fragt nach wo der Fahrer bleibt und legte auf. Nach weiteren 20 min warten riefen wir erneut an. Der Herr meinte sehr unhöflich er sei zur ausgemachten Zeit da gewesen und hat unseren Namen gerufen. Das war definitiv nicht der fall. Ungehalten meinte er dann er fährt nun noch einmal los und holt uns ab. Es vergingen erneut 20 min. Weitere Anrufe wurden nicht angenommen. Nach 1h wurden wir dann doch abgeholt. Der Herr war extrem unhöflich und versuchte uns trotz einer bereits abgeschlossenen Vollkasko-Versicherung eine zweite anzudrehen. Bei der übernahme des Autos passte der Reifendruck nicht. Ein Kollege übernahm das Auto und fuhr zur nächsten Tankstelle (3min entfernt) um den Druck wieder herzustellen. Nach einer halben Stunde kam er wieder und das lämpchen leuchtete inmernoch, da er nicht wusste wie es resettet werden kann. Bevor wir etwas tun konnten, hüpfte ein MA ins Auto, fuhr ein paar m weg und versuchte anhand Youtube Videos dies zu klären. Er schaffte es nicht. Nach eben einer weiteren Stunde bei der Übernahme erhielten wir endlich das Auto. Während wir gingen kamen gerade zwei neue Touristen an (mit dem Taxi) die ebenfalls nicht abgeholt wurden und niemanden erreichten. Die Rückgabe verlief zwar Problemlos, aber das war das mindeste nach diesem ganzen Debakel.
Todo bien. Coche en buen estado, proceso de entrega y devolución sin complicaciones. Aunque no estaban a esperarnos en el aeropuerto, como ponía en las condiciones y tuvimos que llamar, el transfer fue rápido, también a la vuelta. Igualmente la política de combustible contratada era lleno/lleno y finalmente no fue así y nos lo entregaron con el depósito a la mitad para devolverlo igual. En cualquier caso, los recomendaría. Habíamos reservado a través de AddCar.
Pracownik firmy mia oczekiwa na nas w hali przylotów o okre lonej godzinie, niestety nikogo tam nie by o. Nikt nie odbiera telefonu. Po 15 minutach kr enia po lotnisku pracownik wypozyczalni oddzwoni , e czeka na parkingu przed lotniskiem. Oprócz nas czeka y tam 4 osoby ( cznie 6). Nie wszyscy zmie cili si do auta osobowego, musieli my czeka na kolejnego kierowc . A to dopiero pocz tek. Po przyje dzie do biura (oddalonego o 5 minut jazdy samochodem) oczekiwali my na dope nienie formalno ci i odbiór samochodu 1.5h, gdy pracownicy w tym czasie je dzili po kolejne osoby oczekuj ce na nich na lotnisku. Samochod z uszkodzona tylnia lampa. Zwrot bez problemów,dojazd na lotnisko równie ,szybki zwrot depozytu.
Contratamos el coche por medio de un intermediario web. Tuvimos un pequeño problema a la llegada al aeropuerto donde tenían que estar un chico esperandonos con un cartelito con nuestro nombre. Cuando llamamos, la chica de la oficina en primer momento nos dió largas, después de un rato de discusión y espera en el aeropuerto (1h) sin saber si tendríamos el coche o no(todo pagado con antelación), vino a por nosotros un chico argentino con muy buena onda y poco a poco se hizo con nosotros, nos explicó muchas cosas sobre la isla y nos dió una buena bienvenida. La chica de la oficina, muy seria y seca,(es la actitud de la gente de por aquí). El coche que nos dieron estaba bien cuidado, limpio y aún olía a nuevo. El precio era uno de los mejores de la isla, toda la competencia era más cara. A la vuelta, dejamos el coche igual que estaba y el mismo chico argentino nos llevó de vuelta al aeropuerto, super bien, la verdad!!! Si no fuera por el incidente del principio le hubiese puesto 5 estrellas. Si volvemos a Ponta Delgada, volveremos a contratar con ellos.
Usamos un coche de Prime Azores en SantaMaria. O coche estaba perfecto e limpo. Todo foi sen problemas. Flavio, o responsable, é super atento. Moi recomendable.

Alquilamos un coche en Prime Azores mediante Vipcars, donde indicaba: recogida en terminal, 9 plazas y aíre acondicionado. La sorpresa fué que el coche no se recoge en la terminal, tenía 7 plazas (categoría inferior a la contratada), el aíre acondicionado no funcionaba (con el calor de agosto) y tenía el retrovisor izquierdo roto lo que era un peligro para la conducción. Le doy dos estrellas porque nos atendió una persona de administración (que no le tocaba) muy amable.
Una atención maravillosa de Flávio, incluso nos ha acercado al pueblo. Muchas gracias por todo, sin duda lo recomiendo!

We had the BEST experience with this local car rental company. Someone was waiting for us at the airport (even though our flight was delayed by hours), drove us 5min to sign papers and pick up the car and we were off. The EASIEST car rental Ive ever experienced.
A very good team at Prime Azores. Our arrival flight was delayed about 8 hours and yet the representative still met us at the gate at 1:30 AM. They were also accommodating when we needed to return the first car due to a small mechanical problem. A very cost effective choice vs renting directly at the Ponta Delgada airport (they shuttle you to their nearby facility and provide a free shuttle to the airport upon the car s return).

We pre-booked this car rental from Canada, sent in our flight details, and Tomas was there with a sign upon our arrival (even though our flight was delayed)! He was extremely friendly, and informed us about so many helpful tips about the island. The entire process was stress-free, with absolutely no surprises. The car we rented was brand new, with only 160km! I really appreciated the all inclusive round trip to and from the airport. 5 star company and 5 star service.
I highly recommend using this company! They were so kind & were there for any questions I had. Don t worry if you don t have cell service, they have a WhatsApp line for any questions. They even drove me to the airport when I dropped off my car. The cars were so nice and new, and they have plenty of automatics for Americans. They worked great all over the island. 10/10 for customer service & the cars!
Amazing experience! Super friendly staff, fast service and answers to every single question we asked from day 1 to our last day in Sao Miguel island. Ines the name of the lady who picked up our family from the airport when we arrived was very friendly, giving us information about the island and reference for place to eat and entertain. Once we arrived at the car rental main office we were warm welcomed from the owner of the place. He offered so many things and he was playing and joking around with the kids while we finished all the paper work and get the keys for vehicle. Today we returned the vehicle and another friendly young person drove us back to the airport. ( Just to mention,the Owner came today again to thank us for using their services and to wish us all the best!) We never experience before such a great customer service from any other car rental agencies. Strongly recommend!!!

I couldnt recommend this company highly enough. Great communication from friendly professional staff. I received a fixed price for my 7 day car hire. No hidden charges no add ons. No extra special insurance. What you get quoted is what you pay. Thomas supplied me with a car as good as new with only a few hundred miles on it. Thomas Is a credit to your company he dropped the car off at my accommodation and dropped me back there when i returned the car. Thomas was able to offer local information on thing to do and places to go that was much appreciated. Thank you Billy Stevenson

È iniziato con un piccolo intoppo ,in fase di prelievo,alluscita dellAeroporto . Poi che dire... Hanno avuto un occhio di riguardo in maniera eccelsa. Tomas, è un ragazzo di una gentilezza estrema. competente,ottima comunicazione e tanti consigli per vivere i giorni sullisola al meglio.. Il proprietario ci ha accolti in sede con classe , professionalità e signorilità.. Per farsi perdonare del piccolo inconveniente ha applicato uno sconto sul noleggio.. Felici di condividere la nostra esperienza e sicuramente, se torneremo alle Azzorre, ci affideremo nuovamente a loro.
I would not recommend this company. The shuttle took 45 minutes to pick us from the airport. The check in process was cumbersome - the company lost our deposit. We had to show them our receipt to have them believe that we had paid a deposit. They ultimately found our deposit and refunded us. By this point we had lost 1.5 hrs and missed our lunch reservation. The correct customer service approach would be to apologize for their mistakes and inconvenience caused, but no token of apology was provided.
We were afraid to rent with this company because it is new and had few reviews, but it has turned out to be an excellent company on our ten-day trip to San Miguel. The car was great, the transfer to the airport was very easy, and the communication was very fluid. I highly recommend it and thank Inés, Tomás and the rest of the staff.
Navette de l aéroport à l agence : top. Cependant, nous avons été très déçus car nous étions passés par carjet pour réserver. Carjet nous avait déjà proposé une assurance que nous avions payée mais une fois arrivés sur place, l agence nous a dit que cette assurance ne valait rien pour eux et que la solution était soit de mettre une caution de 1200 , soit de re-payer une deuxième assurance. Honteux !!! Sans compter que la personne qui s est occupée de nous à l agence n était pas spécialement agréable. Pour ce qui est de la voiture en elle-même et du prix juste de la location : rien à dire.
La atención desde el principio fue perfecta, Luciano y Tomás fueron súper atentos. Recomendamos alquilar directamente con ellos, son muy agradables, atentos y totalmente de fiar. Nos dieron el coche en perfectas condiciones y con el depósito lleno, lo cual se pedía que fuese igual cuando lo devolviésemos. Después de devolver el coche nos acercaron hasta la ciudad sin pedírselo. El trato y los servicios en todo momento un 10/10. Además el precio nos pareció realmente barato. Si volvemos repetiremos con ellos seguro.

My husband and I just rented a car from Prime at Sao Miguel. I have to say that the staff, the car and our overall experience was exceptional. I was a bit hesitant at first as it is off terminal and personally I always choose a car in terminal but they made it completely effortless. Ine even gave us her personal cell to contact her in case we needed her and when we did contact her for an airport drop off she responded immediately. The young man who dropped us off at the airport was also very courteous. Great customer service and trustworthy staff. Thank you!!
Es war alles perfekt.Vermieter erwartete uns am Flughafen,obwohl wir noch 1 Stunde am Lost und Foundschalter warten mussten, weil 1 Gepäckstücke fehlte.Das Auto war fast neu und in sehr gutem Zustand.Das nächste mal wähle ich ein kleineres Modell.Hatte einen Fiat Tipo Kombi.Wird eng in den Dorfstrassen.Transfer vom Flughafen zur Firma ging schnell.Verleiher hat keinen Schalter am Flughafen.Vermieter sehr empfehlenswert.
Their prices were drastically cheaper than the other ones we called. They are very nice and honest. If you need to go to the airport, they will let you drop your car and then give you a ride to the airport. So you dont need to pay the airport taxes which are added to the car rentals normally.
