Thrifty Car Rental - Ponta Delgada Apo Portugal Tsh em Ponta Delgada

We had a fantastic experience when we rented a car from Thrifty at Ponta delgada airport. The staff were super helpful and amazingly efficient, including when we unfortunately got a blown tyre on one of the island's country roads (take care driving along here), they arranged for a tow truck for the car and a taxi for us without delay and dealt with the whole situation very well. We thought the day would be ruined but thanks to their great service we were able to go out and explore again as planned. Fantastic staff!

Hassle-free pick-up and return. Very friendly employees who didn't try to take out any additional insurance. Gladly again.

I rent a car in Azores, Portugal in May and they put a hold in my card of 900 euros, that should be unblocked upon the return, if the car was returned without any issues. I returned the car with no issues, but the money instead of being unblocked, it was charged on the week after. I called the company on the airport many times and the employee was completely unhelpful, saying she was too busy and couldn´t do anything for me. She requested that I called the general Thrifty phone number, that I also did many times, but no one answered. Then I tried sending an email, and they replied right away saying it was an error and they were going to return the money. After that I sent 3 emails asking for confirmation and when the money would be returned and again, it was not answered. In summary, we are in August basically and I still did not receive my money back and had to open a process within the bank to cancel this transaction. Do not hire this company, their contacts are useless, it is not worth the price.
