Had a very good experience renting a car from here. Booked online, pick up and drop off were so smooth and seamless! The car is a small toyota which was clean and rather new. Some damaged from previous rentals but they were marked on the check in sheet. Take lots of photos before driving off to protect yourself! though i had no issues at all with drop off, they didn’t make life hard and deposit was returned. Staff VERY friendly and helpful.
We rented from cars from Autatlantis in our trips to São Miguel, Faial, Pico and Flores. One deposit for all of the rentals. Everything was smooth, cars were good, service was friendly. 5/5 recommend this company.
This is 2nd time to hire the car here. Stuff are very friendly and explain all of it and also the car was very clean, functional, and kinda new this time. I booked the car and insurance through booking.com but they didn't push me to buy their insurance at all. Just explained I would have all the responsibility if something happens. Easy pick-up and drop-off (less than 5min to check the car body) and they proceeded deposit return right away in front of me and gave me the receipt. There are some small scratches on the car body and I took pictures of them just in case but I didn't need them.
Friendly agent upon arrival in PDL. No line. Helped us upgrade from a standard to an automatic without any hassle. Car was new, clean and in good condition. Employee showed us how to use hybrid vehicle and the fuel door and helpful instructions on how to leave rental lot and where to return the car at the end. Upon return, we had accidentally scraped the side of the car on a wall in a narrow street in Furnas a few days earlier. The employee did not sass us or give us any grief and said “these things happen” and helped us fill out paperwork for insurance claim. We arrived at the airport early thinking it would be an ordeal with the damage to the car but nope, very easy process and didn’t need to allocate extra time after all. All in all, a good experience with this company and would recommend and rent with them again.
Disappointing Car Rental Experience in Ponta Delgada I recently rented a car in Ponta Delgada and had a thoroughly disappointing experience. Firstly, they gave me the wrong vehicle despite my attempts to inform them. The staff simply ignored my concerns. Then, after 30 minutes, they called me to return and change the vehicle, which was incredibly inconvenient as I was already at my hotel, 30 km away. Upon returning the car, at the end of the renting period, they claimed to have found an issue with the wheel and deducted money from my warranty fund. This seemed like a deliberate tactic to exploit customers with low rental prices but hidden charges. Having rented cars for 30 years, I've never encountered such a low-level, deceitful business model. Avoid this rental company at all costs.
We booked two cars, the first one in Flores island, the collection was smooth, however, the car was quite old. Our second car was booked to be picked up at 18:00 at Ponta Delgada airport, however, due to a delay in our flight we arrived at 21:00 at the airport. To our astonishment they told us our car wasn’t still available because it had been taken to the washing because the previous client had returned it twenty minutes ago. How is that possible? So had we arrived at the scheduled time would we have to wait three hours?
Yesterday evening, at around 7pm, we got out of the suitcase airport area to take a car we already previously reserved and paid with Autatlantis, and we saw this incredibly long lineup (2 hours I would say) just to arrive at the counter!!!! We went for a great dinner at the airport, hoping the lineup would be over, but no…it was still 90 minutes long… So we went at another rental counter company(they were all waiting for clients), we got a nice car at the same price the other one did, and the service was wonderful! Next time, I will wait to arrive at the airport to rent a car instead of booking in advanced with a little promotion… And how a company can let clients and tourists who are happily coming to spend money on the island wait 2 hours on line to get their car?
Easy, good, the Toyota Aygo X was a perfect car for Azores, automatic, lane control, radar speed control, just amazing. All was good, 5 days for 140 euros. Recommend
Wir wurden sehr freundlich bei der Abholung und Rückbringung des Autos behandelt. Mit dem VW UP waren wir sehr zufrieden und war fast neu. Die Abwicklung war alles unkompliziert und schnell. Bei der Ankunft ist dies auch gleich das erste Büro und raus ums Eck bekommt man auch das Auto. Wir können diese Autovermietung nur empfehlen.

El coche estaba arañado por todos los lados y rincones y con un golpe en un lateral. Hay que hacer un vídeo muy minucioso de todos los daños antes de llevártelo el primer día y que lo marquen todo en la hoja si no quieres que se queden tu fianza. Le dije a la persona que lo entregaba que podía marcar todos los espacios de la hoja que el coche estaba como un Picasso y así lo hizo. Al devolverlo no se recrearon en revisarlo porque ya la hoja lo tenía todo marcado . Fue rápida la devolución del coche y de la fianza por esto. No arreglan los coches visto lo visto y si eres novato en esto del alquiler de coches puedes volver con un buen disgusto de las vacaciones. Creo que he leído este problema en las reseñas de todas las compañías de las Azores antes de reservar este servicio. Siempre contratar un seguro con franquicia (en mi caso de 700 ). El trato del personal fue correcto. Alquilamos un FIAT 500 y la potencia si sabes llevarlo es perfecto para recorrer la isla (aunque haya desnivel) porque todas las carreteras son buenas, pero muy estrechas. Aparcas en cualquier sitio y gastamos muy poco combustible para todos los kilometros que hicimos.
The staff were attentive and friendly both at the counter and in the parking lot, also the counter was easy to find right outside. Additionally, the car was perfectly clean and functional, and the few existing scratches were not a problem. :D

Geboekt via Sunnycars. We waren als eerste bij de verhuur desk. De rij werd daarna behoorlijk lang dus we hadden geluk. Ipv en klasse A kregen we een hogere klasse mee, Toyota yaris. Hij stond al klaar en na het invullen van het schade overzicht waren we snel op weg. Ong. 47.000 maar rondom krassen en beschadigingen. Hoe gaan mensen met hun huurauto om? Zonde. De ramen van binnen waren wel heel vies, hinderlijk met zon. Ook had 1 van de vorige rijders frisdrank geopend ofzo, allemaal spetter maar verder wel schoon. Na een week het eiland rond gereden te hebben teruggebracht. Sommige stukken zijn best stijl, daar reden we veel in de 1 of 2e versnelling. Eigenlijk was de Toyota nog aan de lichte kant. Terugbrengen ging ook heel soepel. We hebben dan ook goed op de auto gepast, zoals we met onze eigen auto ook doen.
La experiencia con la empresa fue buena. El personal amable y los trámites rápidos y fluidos. No tuvimos ningún problema con la devolución de la fianza, que además fue inmediata. El motivo de mi puntuación es por el coche en si. No era un coche apto para la isla. Falta de potencia absoluta, imposible subir cuestas con el. En mi caso preferiría un vehículo menos nuevo pero con una potencia apta para las necesidades de la isla.
Una atención de 10, desde el personal del mostrador hasta quienes nos entregaron las llaves. Todo bien explicado, el coche en perfectas condiciones, y muy eficientes. Repetiría sin duda con esta compañía.
Muy desagradable experiencia con esta compañía. Ahora leyendo el resto de reseñas veo como opera esta compañía. Nos dieron un coche con muchos pequeños daños, un coche de baja gama por el que tuvimos que dejar 700 de fianza. Los coches tienes tiene muchos pequeños daños y te van a apuntando casi todos. Cuando lo devuelves te apuntan uno que no esta a recogido, en nuestro caso 190 por un daño minúsculo que no le hicimos y por el tipo de golpe no había podido ser un tercero sino nosotros y nosotros no le dimos. Al recoger el coche había otra pareja y una familia con problemas parecidos. Trabajan así, son unos estafadores y el personal de entrega de coches muy desagradable. ESTAFA, BUSCAR OTRAS OPCIONES. No intentes llamar, te tienen a la espera y no contestan.
We rented a car, when we delivered it they looked at it with a magnifying glass and for a hubcap that was scratched from before they charged us 65. I do not recommend it at all and if you decide to rent with them, make a thorough video of the entire car because they will look for any damage that the car has to mess with it and charge you whatever they want.
MALISIMA experiencia con esta compañía y por lo que veo en otros comentarios es la forma de actuar que tienen. Te entregan un coche con muchos pequeños desperfectos, a los que no les dan importancia durante el check in, y cuando lo entregas te culpan de alguno de ellos, en nuestro caso 65 por una marca en un tapacubos de un Fiat Panda, el cual estamos seguros que no hicimos nosotros. Iba a decir que grabéis un video de hasta el ultimo detalle, pero es mejor que os ahorréis esta desagradable experiencia y os vayáis a otra compañía, te bloquean 700 por lo que tienen margen para cobrar.
The ladies were so unkind, we were on the return line because no one of the return was there, then they made us moving in the other line, and then at one point they decided to make both line return. Ending up in a long queue of people waiting for their already booked car. Not professional at all. We will see when we have to return the car. Terrible anyway
Nous avons eu une bonne expérience avec ce loueur ! Nous avons récupéré la voiture comme prévu à laéroport, pas dattente à laller ou au retour. Personnel sympathique. La voiture était récente, modèle hybride. Pas de difficulté lors de la restitution de la voiture. Évidemment, nous avions pris des photos en la récupérant.
A experiência foi péssima. Os funcionários são pouco prestáveis, mas isso não foi o pior. O pior foi o automóvel que nos foi atribuído. Na reserva constava um citroen c3, mas alugaram-nos um toyota yaris, que, pura e simplesmente, não era adequado à ilha. O carro não tinha força para as subidas e, por muito que se carregasse no acelerador, não aumentava de velocidade. Se ligássemos o ar condicionado, a situação agravava-se. Resultado: optámos por ir apenas a praias, pois, tivémos receio de tentar subir a pontos mais elevados e ter um problema grave. O automóvel acabou por nos limitar na visita a ilha. Falámos com a companhia, mas recusaram-se a admitir que o veículo não era adequado. Não voltaremos a alugar nenhuma viatura a esta empresa!

Very smooth experience, weve rented with a 3th party that sent us to autatlantis. There was no waiting line, the guy at the pickup was fast and friendly. All the damage was shown and written down. And at dropoff the same. No problems at all!
Take lots of pictures of the car!! When picked up, they say big scratches only for damages. When we brought the car back, they charged us for a 1cm scuff on the rim and an almost invisible scratch on the trunk. This damage was almost impossible to see in photos. Felt very scammed. They didn t charge enough to replace the rim or paint a bumper so I have a feeling multiple people will be paying for these damages . The counter staff acted like they get this complaint a lot. My advice, go through an international company like Hertz and not a local one. Definitely taking advantage of tourists.
Es lief alles gut, reibungslos und schnell. Beste Mietwagenerfahrung auf den Azoren. Personal war freundlich und hat auch nicht versucht, irgendwelche Zusatzversicherungen zu verkaufen. Mietwagen war in Ordnung. Gebucht haben wir über SunnyCars.
No me ha pasado nada grave con Autatlantis pero si tienen otra opción: cojanla!! El depósito es de 700 muy caro para un Fiat Panda y miran el coche al detalle en la devolución cualquier marca que tenga te la descontarán de los 700 .

Nous étions un peu inquiets avant de réserver vu certains commentaires mais sommes tout de même satisfaits. Voiture récente (moins de 20 000 km) sans trop de dommage, peu d attente au comptoir à l arrivée. Le service laisse vraiment à désirer autant au comptoir qu en récupérant/rendant la voiture mais nous n avons pas eu de problème particulier. En prenant la voiture nous avons du fortement insister pour prendre une photo du document attestant des dommages sur la voiture (copie qu on nous donnait été illisible) mais à part ça, le tout était conforme à notre réservation.
Our car was a bit worn out with more than 31K kilometers and full of scratches so we had to carefully document them since we didn t take the full insurance (20 extra per day). The main problem was the fuel gauge which was not working properly. On the last fay we filled the tank full (although we had to return only 7/8), but the arrow was still stuck in the middle. The guy at the reception disconnected the battery but it didn t work. We felt a bit stupid trying to explain that the tank is actually full, but after showing the receipt from the gas station the guy finally believed us (thanks to him as we would have missed our flight).

A+ experience with oir two week rental. Staff was friendly and helpful to set us up with car. If you have alternate insurance through your credit card, get a copy of the terms / deductible AND confirmation from the card company before you leave home to simply check in. HIGHLY RECOMMEND not picking a huge car if you intend on driving around the island. Roads are good but narrow in towns and villages.
Sehr gute Autovermietung. Preis-Leistung ist ok. Wir hatten gebucht für den Zeitraum 19. - 29.02.24 und einen Opel Crossland erhalten. Fahrzeug war einwandfrei. Besonders erwähnen und loben möchte ich die Dame am Desk im Flughafen, die die Papiere fertig gemacht hat und den Herrn, der die Autoübergabe und -Rückgabe gemacht hat. Beide waren sehr freundlich, alles lief zügig. So muss Service sein. Vielen Dank an die beiden!

Wir haben über Check24 ein günstiges Auto gemietet. Es hat alles geklappt, das Auto war gepflegt, die Technik hat funktioniert und die Abwicklung mit dem Vermieter war gut. Bei Ankunft mit dem Flieger war die Schlange am Schalter lang und wir mussten rund 1,5 Stunden warten, bis der Papierkram erledigt war und wir unser Auto hatten. Die Dame an der Rezeption war sehr genervt und unfreundlich, dafür waren alle anderen Mitarbeiter sehr zuvorkommend. Aus unserer Erfahrung ist diese Mietstation zu empfehlen!
Wir erhielten einen 6 Jahre alten Renault als Mietwagen, ziemlich untermotorisiert für die zum Teil sehr steilen Straßen auf Sao Miquel. Die Reifen waren darüberhinaus schon runtergefahren (Treadwear indicator bereits erreicht). Mein Hinweis darauf wurde vom ReturnGuy bei Fahrzeugrückgabe schulterzuckend quittiert.

Not the best start to the holiday. Almost the entire plane from the Netherlands had reserved a car here through Sunnycars, so the queue was very long. Not the fault of the rental company! But I couldnt appreciate what they did then... I was somewhere in the middle of the queue, when an employee decided to move the queue. People who were somewhere halfway, suddenly found themselves almost at the back. After about two hours of waiting we finally had a car. (Employee at the desk and the one outside in the parking lot were friendly). Car was a Fiat Panda, with over 50k on the clock. Engine made some weird sounds, clutch showed wear, car had a dent, scratches on all sides, and was not really clean inside. I can live with some scratches. But I expect at least a clean and well maintained car.
Brilliant service, from leaving our flight we were on the road in 20 mins. Previous reviews say that the company take money, they dont, they pre authorise 700 euro. When we handed the car in it went on my card within seconds. Also the complaints about fuel are false, fill it up before you go back and itll be fine. Highly recommended at a great price point.
Rented a car here for a full week. Got a brand new Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid. Great car, great experience. No issues whatsoever.
Excellent experience end to end. Checkin and checkout was very efficient. Car was actually larger than expected (Toyota Aygo X) and despite some nicks and minor dents was in great condition and impeccably clean. Would not hesitate to rent here again.
After 6 day rental, weve been charged 69 for damage for a 1,5cm scratch on a wheel. In 15 years renting cars, we never had such bad experience. You better choose Micauto which was great for renting in Terceira and which is present in São Miguel.
Die beste Autovermietung die ich bisher auf Reisen hatte. Wir bekamen ein fast neues Auto ohne Schäden. Trotzdem ist ein Mitarbeiter mit uns um das Auto gegangen, hat es inspiziert und uns gebeten Fotos zu machen wenn wir dies möchten. Keine Versuche und zusätzliche Versicherungen zu verkaufen. Rückgabe war genauso unkompliziert und ohne jegliche Probleme. Ich würde mehr Sterne geben wenn möglich. Der Service und die Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft des Personals sind mir bei keiner Autovermietung bisher begegnet.

Fairly good experience here. Our return was fast and easy. Picking the car up was a bit of a pain, because we arrived at 7am and had booked at 8:45am pickup and we were told we had to wait. We waited and then had to line up in a 45 minute line a second time to pick up the car.
Kann den Anbieter zu 100% empfehlen. Mietwagen war keine 3Monate alt, sehr gepflegt. Die Vorschäden waren bereits voreingetragen. Wartezeit bei Anmietung ca. 10min; bei Abgabe ca 15min am Fahrzeug, 0min am Schalter um die Kaution auf der Kreditkarte zu releasen.

AUTATLANTIS: Das katastrophalste Mietauto das wir jemals hatten. Ein völlig zuschandengefahrener Dacia Duster mit 80.000 km am Tacho. Lenkung, Kupplung, Schaltung alles wahnsinnig schwergängig. Das Auto plump und unübersichtlich, für die engen Straßen auf Sao Miguel und Ponta Delgada völlig ungeeignet. Nur mehr halb funktionsfähig: Scheibenwischer, Klimaanlage, Schaltung. Die Kofferraumverkleidung völlig zerrissen. Der Sicherheitsgurt am Beifahrersitz rollte gar nicht mehr ganz ein. Dellen und Kratzer ohne Ende. Werkstatt Lampe leuchtete ständig. Nach Reklamation am 2ten Tag wurde uns gesagt wir hätten uns ja bei der Übergabe nicht beschwert, quasi selber schuld.
Voiture louée en août qui était dangereuse,bonne pour la casse et non pour la location. Impossible de conduire avec dans les côtes, conduire en première uniquement et pas de possibilité d échanger pour une voiture correcte Pas de possibilité de parler au manager au téléphone . C est une honte de louer de telle voiture alors que la réservation a été faite 10 mois d avance. Je déconseille cette agence qui méprise leurs clients surtout en pleine saison. Leur seule réponse était que toutes leurs voitures étaient comme ça et bien non dans une autre agence nous avons eu auparavant une voiture pratiquement neuve quelques jours avant .j ai regretté de l avoir rendue pour avoir cette poubelle roulante.
Excellent experience. Arrived over 7 hours early unexpectedly and they were more than nice and accommodating. Got an almost brand new car. Both the main office in the airport and the check out team in the lot were exceptional. Far better experience than my Hertz rental in Terceira.

Had a great experience with a 10 day rental from Autatlantis for our trip to Sao Miguel. I booked through Discovercars and initially was second guessing based on the reviews that I might end up in some annoying nickel and dime / fake damage situation, however our experience ended up being flawless. We flew into PDL airport and the counter was right outside the arrivals area. Within 10 minutes, we were given a rental folio and walked a short distance to P5 parking area, the closest lot to the airport exit. Someone showed us the car and we did a 360 view to observe any existing damages. I highly recommend in any rental situation you take a slow and steady video of the entire exterior of the car at this point to document the condition for yourself to ensure you re not liable for existing nicks and scatches. We got a like-new Citroen C3 5-door hatchback which fit a massive checked bag, carry on, and two duffel bags in the trunk (we booked Opel Corsa or similar online). The rental was for 2 people. While it was a less powerful car than we re used to, we were able to explore nearly all of Sao Miguel with it during our trip with ease. It also was very nimble parking and driving on the more narrow streets in some neighborhoods on the island, including some of our Airbnbs. The only thing to note is you ll likely be driving in first gear on steep hills since it s a less powerful car. Upon returning the car to the same parking lot, I braced to need to whip out my video to prove we didn t damage the vehicle, but was pleasantly surprised that we had no additional charges and the 700 EUR temporary hold was lifted from our card. We were finished with the return and inside the airport within 5-10 minutes of getting out of the car. We had stopped to get gas about 3 miles from the airport, which was close enough to count as us returning it full , per the agreement. I would recommend Autatlantis and we ll use them again next time we re visiting the island.

Rented a Kia Rio for a week through Rentalcars app. All went well, quick pickup, fair pre-survey, car was fine, bigger than expected, no problems during the rent. Return went smooth, got the deposit back right after leaving the office, staff was very friendly and helpful.
Everything was perfect! Very cheap, with the car was everything perfect, modern car and very friendly employees. Short waitingtime. We lost the key of the car, we called Autatlantis and they came in 20 minutes and brought us a second key. Top Service! Highly recommended!

Great experience! The counter is right in front of you when you pass the arrival gate. People were friendly professional and the car was in great shape. If you rent cars on another island with them they wind charge you the deposit twice.
Overall good. The lack of people at the time of picking up and delivering the cars is terrible. Honestly, there are a lot of things that could be digitized and would make everything faster.
Absolutely awful. I had a problem with the car, and even my hostel owner came to help me, but the people took advantage of me being a foreigner. They changed the story a million times, and were doing many sketchy things. There are many other companies in the island to rent from, so don t choose this one!
We rented a car for 7 days. Due an error on my side the flight arrived later than I had communicated at first. I called them on our arrival day when I found out and it was no issue at all. In the end our plane was delayed too so we arrived well after 0000 but all worked out. All marks of the car were checked on the paper together with us. It was very thorough. I made a few pictures too. Anyway, after bringing it back they checked the gas and everything else and all was good and the deposit was unblocked.

Noleggio più economico rispetto ad altri. Le ragazze al desk, molto gentili. Il ragazzo della consegna/ritiro auto, decisamente meno simpatico e cortese. Sia alla consegna, tono di voce molto duro, che al ritorno (alle 5 del mattino), dove ho visto con i miei occhi, che ai clienti portoghesi, l auto veniva controllata anche lontano dalla luce dei lampioni e in due minuti, ai non portoghesi, osservazioni poco cortesi. A me alla fine è andata bene, ma il personaggio in questione, non ci sa fare con la clientela.
Era la primera que alquilabamos un coche y al leer las reviews estabamos un poco asustados. Nosotros alquilamos un smart de dos plazas para el viaje en la isla de Sao Miguel y estuvimos encantados con él. Cuando entregamos el coche no tuvimos ningún tipo de problema ni coste extra y nos devolvieron la fianza. Nos pareció una empresa seria y nuestra experiencia fue muy buena, así que lo recomendamos!
Já aluguei carros na Autatlantis em São Miguel, em Santa Maria e nas Flores e só tenho a dizer bem desta rent-a-car. Para além de conseguir preços competitivos face a outras que estão no aeroporto de PDL e a fila para levantar o carro é bem menor.
The Team from Autatlantis was super helpful upfront. I was booking pickup at the wrong branch office by mistake. The team made me aware of this and with a hands-on Whatsapp Chat, a very friendly team member repaired my booking at no extra cost. Also pickup at the airport counter (shared with 2 other car rental companies) is organised professionally and goes quickly. Drop off took me 5mins at 10a.m. in high season. Fleet was almost new in summer 2022.

Autatlantis rental went perfectly. Booking online was simple. Once we arrived in the arrivals terminal, the booth to check in was right by the exit. The parking lot to pick up the car was also right outside the exit. They did a quick inspection of the car to note damages, and pointed out that we had a full tank of gas. Once we dropped the car off, they did another quick inspection and checked gas as well. The entire process took 5 minutes from start to finish. Would recommend Autatlantis to anyone traveling around Sao Miguel.

Danke für den guten Service, wir bekamen sofort ein Ersatzfahrzeug als Wirkung ein Nagel im Reifen hatten, sunnycars hat uns den Betrag von 17,40 Euro erstattet. Es wurde fair abgerechnet. Es empfiehlt sich das Auto von allen Seiten zu fotografieren dann geht es bei der Rückgabe schneller.
Staff was mostly incompetent and slow. I d recommend to avoid this company, hopefully there s some other options at the airport.
We stayed on 6 different islands in the Azores for more than three weeks and rented a car with Autatlantis on 5 of them. Albeit it always took quite some time to retrieve a car, our experience with Autatlantis had been good so far. However, on our last destination Sao Miguel it wasnt. We received a car with a fuel tank that wasnt full and were told that it was okay to bring it back with approximately the same level of fuel. Before departure we already explained that it would be quite the hassle to estimate how many liters it would take to get it to the same level as we received it. The employee laughed and said an estimate would be fine. We refueled once during our stay on the island to check if our calculation of the number of liters would be correct and it seemed to work. On the last day we attempted to refuel it to the same level as we received it. After we left the gas station we saw that it wasn t quite there yet but since we had to catch our flight we decided to keep on going (we couldn t check the meter intermediately since we had to pay before we could refuel at that particular gas station). When we handed in the car we explained the situation. We were told that we had to pay a substantial fine because we didn t return it with the exact same fuel level as we got it. The fine was needed because now they had to go refuel it themselves. We weren t allowed to only pay for the extra gas it would take to get it to the same level. When explaining it is nearly impossible to refuel a car to the exact same random level we were unapologetically told it was doable and that people had done it before us . We asked why it wasn t full in the first place as the previous renter would have had the same problem and pay the same fine and since the fine was intended to cover the costs of refueling the car themselves it should be full when we received it. She said they hadn t had the time yet. This almost feels like a scheme to inconvenience customers and make it difficult for them to meet the contract conditions; likely resulting in a fine that is then not used for its intended purpose passing the problem on to the next customer and earning extra money along the way. An employee had told us that when you put the key in the ignition and turn it over once you would be able to see how much fuel would be added while refueling. Due to this explanation we decided to return to a gas station to try and refuel it to the exact level we received it with. His claim was incorrect because apparently the indicator does not recalibrate until the engine is started causing us to unwillingly refuel the car to its full capacity. Since we had to catch our flight that was the end of it and we ended up paying for extra gas to Autatlantis benefit and a lot of stress due to almost being late for our flight. All-in-all we feel terribly inconvenienced and cheated out of our money.
I would highly recommend against using this car rental service. I provided a deposit for our car rental and upon returning the car, they decided to pocket my 100 EURO deposit! Then when I confronted them about the issue, they dragged their feet for weeks (I went to the Azores over summer 2022, and now I am approaching the holiday season), and now refuse to deal with the matter. And the best part: if the gas tank is a hair away from indicating full, they charge you exorbitant fees, and yet the ONLY gas station is several miles away from the drop off point. What a coincidence!
I rented a car with Autatlantis in São Miguel airport (previously booked online). The pick up (late in the evening) and the drop off were incredibly smooth, both processes took no more than 10 minutes each. We got a recent car, very clean, that took us without any problem to the different places we wanted to visit (some of them with difficult accesses). Autatlantis staff were friendly and polite.

Serviço lento, demorei quase 2 h para ter o carro que tinha reservado previamente! Agravado ao facto de viajar com o bebé de 12 meses e não me terem dado qualquer prioridade. A funcionária que me atendeu, não era de todo competente. O categoria do carro que tinha reservado não estava disponível, sendo que me foi atribuída outra categoria. O carro estava em muito mau estado e tinha um cheiro estranho, não aparentando ter sido limpo, muito menos desinfetado (devido à pandemia). Mais grave ainda, reservei uma cadeirinha de bebé que não estava montada no veículo. Tivemos de ser nós a tentar montar a cadeira, mas sem sucesso. A cadeira que nos facultaram era velha e não inspirava segurança. Felizmente, chegou um veiculo para checkout, que deixou uma cadeira melhor e eu pedi para trocar. Tive de pedir apoio ao funcionário da empresa ILHA VERDE, que me ajudou a montar a cadeira. Não recomendo a AUTATLANTIS a ninguém.
I have just returned the car after renting it for 1.5 week. Im very pleased with their services and wanted to say that I dont recognise myself in the negative reviews from below at all! The car was perfectly fine (in the beginning I wasnt sure if the smallest car would be okay to drive around the island, but its definitely fine, no problems at all!). Both the people on pickup (City center) and return (Airport) were very kind and helpful.
I admit that after reading some bad reviews I feel a little nervous but actually my experience with Autatlantis was great. I don t have any problems about check in and return, they are both quick and clear, the car is in a great condition, and the price was fair.
Tubimos una mala experiencia con el alquiler, el coche se estropeó y nos dejó tirados. Estubimos 4 horas llamando al número de asistencia de Atlantis y nadie cogía el teléfono. Tubimos que llamar a un taxi y a la grúa a nuestra costa

Alles gut geklappt, beim Abholen des Autos gab es eine etwas längere Wartezeit, bei der Rückgabe ging alles einfach und schnell.
En la devolución del coche de alquiler en el aeropuerto nos dijeron que la llanta de la rueda tenía un roce. Les comentamos que no habíamos tenido ningún tipo incidente con el coche, que si me facilitaban un paño eso se podía limpiar y lo haría yo misma, ya que no estaba dañado solo manchado, me dijeron que no podía limpiarlo que eso no estaba así y por lo tanto tendrían que cobrárselo de la fianza de 700 que había dejado. Les pregunté que por qué me iban a cobrar algo que no había que arreglar solo limpiar y que lo haría yo en ese mismo momento pero su contestación fue que era su trabajo. Finalmente me cobraron 73 por una manchita negra en la llanta que podía eliminarla con un trapo, una vergüenza.
We had a bad experience with another car company on Pico Island and were very satisfied with Autatlantis here on São Miguel. Pick up and return of the car at the airport went trouble-free and very quick. The credit card gets unblocked immediately after returning the car. The staff was friendly and we were happy with the car. A smart fortwo that managed to climb the very steep roads on the island.
War alles prima,wagenübernahme im Hafen nach einer Schiffsreise Rückgabe am Flughafen.Alle Schäden wurden bei der Übergabe persönlich am Wagen besprochen;bei der Rückgabe wurde großzügig über weitere kleinere Spots hinweggesehen .die laßen sich bei den engen Gassen nach acht Tagen auch nicht vermeiden.Der Opel Corsa ist an Steigungen zu schwach;mit einem Koffer ist man auch schon am Ladelimit.
Slow service. We waited 1h to be served, having only 4 other persons in front of the queue. We had to wait additional 10min until the car was washed and ready, although the arranged pickup time was exceeded more than 1h.
Very disappointed with the car return service at the Airport. Since we noticed there was no gas station at the airport and we stayed in a hotel closeby (15km), we filled up the car at the gas station next to the hotel and drove to the airport. Upon arrival the guy claimed the gas tank was not full. We told him where we filled it up and that we only drove 15km, but he claimed that was 40km away. We showed him our Google Maps gps which clearly stated it was 15km, he said that it was too far away to accept the car. He goes on that there is a gas station a little over 5km away in the other direction. Perplexed, I asked him that there is bearly any difference in distance and he is forcing me to drive over 5km with a tank that is as close to full as it can be (again, there is no gas station at the airport and we didnt see any other gas station on the 15km from our hotel to Airport). He says to check with the desk, where there is a very lady looking at us explaining and stating: do you expect me to fill it up?! I say no its filled and we want to make our airplane, after which she states she doesnt want to argue over something this little and sends us back. So in conclusion, it was something too small for an argument, but she was totally fine that we could miss our flight. So we drive to that gas station over 5km further, the tank didnt even need 2 seconds to fill for a total cost of 3 , which includes the kilometers they forced me to drive. Once we get back, the tank is at the same level as before (basically it drops a bit after like 3-4km...) So we show the ticket and now he finally agrees. I told him there is absolutely no difference, he clearly does not know what to reply, so we handle it at the desk and thankfully made our flight. Would never recommend or take this car rental ever again. People can miss their flights because of this absolutely rediculous behavior. They should put a gas station next to their car return parking because now it makes 0 sense... And the members of the staff were so rude, acting if we are trying to save money... Extemely shocking experience. Small detail: the car had a lower tank when we received the car, how dishonest is that?!
Shockingly rude employee in the parking lot for returns. Not only is there no organized system to return the car (just a random group vying for the guys attention). When one woman asked Abt this, stating that she was going to miss her flight soon... The guys reply was that she would just have to get on the next flight and miss her scheduled flight (despite her trying to return the car for over 20 min). I was absolutely shocked at the lack of professionalism. Never again.
nicht zu empfehlen: oder genauestens den tank überprüfen und kleinste kratzer auch auf der UNTERSEITE bei übernahme kontrollieren und eintragen lassen. die tankanzeige sprang nach 1 km von 4/4 auf 3/4. bei exakt demselben auto auf der nachbarinsel erreichte der aygo 164 km bis die anzeige 3/4 erfolgte (gleiches auto, gleicher fahrer, gleiche fahrweise). habe sofort angerufen und mir wurde gesagt, dass die benzinmindermenge bei rückgabe geregelt werde. hab den wagen vollgetankt zurückgegeben, aber als ausgleichsregelung erhielt ich nur gesagt: Oh, thank You!... mehr nicht. hab schon einige autovermieter gehabt in europa und übersee, pingelige, weniger pingelige, entgegenkommende, aber sowas hab ich noch nie erlebt - nie wieder autatlantis, zumal die bei weitem nicht die preiswertesten vor ort waren. Mehr bezahlen heisst im leihwagengeschäft offenbar nicht : mehr service.
