The guy who worked there changed my email on paper so I never saw the receipt. He put a different email. I told the guy my father already had insurance through booking.com. I also told him that my dad does not read and this shady worker waited until I left to have my dad sign and pay with my card. The shady employee was clearly trying to make more money off the deal. The only thing he told me was the 300 dollar refundable deposit. The car costed $249 for the rental and insurance through booking.com, so please tell me who would agree to buy $305 worth of insurance the costed more than the vehicle with insurance already. Not only did this employee take advantage of my father who can’t read to well. He also lied and saw the only charge on the card was for the refundable deposit and then inputed the wrong email address, which is my name, so I wouldn’t see a contract or invoice to make a dispute. This company waited until I flew back home and this is when the 305 charge occcured so I couldn’t dispute it in person.
Great price. Good car. Great service from the staff. They were friendly and helpful. They let us know where we could find gas to fill up in the way back. The car was in great shape (only 20k kilometers on it). I’ve rented from Soxt before and I’ll definitely do it again.
Great pickup experience. The car was clean and comfortable. Will absolutely use Sixt again! UPDATE: They charged me for damage to car that I did not do. Claimed that I damaged the rims. No one inspected car with me at pickup or drop off and I barely drove the car (kept it behind a locked gate) Changed rating as I believe that they took advantage of me because I waived their coverage . My wife and I had a chance to visit this beautiful island and rented a car from Sixt at the airport, to get around (you really need a car to explore the whole island). Experience was very pleasant and seamless. Picking up the car was fairly quick and painless. We got an amazing car with all the latest features and enjoyed the experience from start to finish. No pushy tactics, no pressure to get extra insurance (I was covered through comprehensive coverage via Amex) and the whole interaction was quick. Returning the car was extremely easy as well. We pulled into the return space, the attendant Diago Forthdo, was very courteous and was able to get us going in 5min or less. Overall, an amazing experience and I would not hesitate to rent from this company in the future. Thanks for a great experience!!!
I would give zero stars if possible. Read the reviews—They will find a way to charge you after returning the car. They charged me $540 weeks after, claiming I put diesel in the car. I explained that’s impossible, the gas station I went to has different size nozzles for regular and diesel and the diesel nozzle won’t fit into the fiat tank. They do not answer phones. Shut me down on my emails saying case closed repeatedly. Offered ZERO proof that the car was disabled. No check engine light was on when I returned the car in perfect condition. Use the old faithful companies, this new company will rob you
Try hiring people who seek to help your customers find solutions. On 9/18 at 6:30 PM my experience with your agent was not only poor, but deeply frustrating. It seemed that they went out of their way (in a passive aggressive manner) to put me in my place. I had a three hour dilema with a flat tire and issues getting a hold of the roadside assistance and a taxi. Then, still having faith in Sixt, I show up to the airport to exchange and extend the rental for a few more days. The agent was not at the counter for 15 minutes - I had to call them. When they did show up, I explained my situation, asking for a little help. There was literally no empathy, just pure passive aggressiveness of the rules because it was clear that they were upset I had booked a new (extended) rental online versus through the desk - that became clear when they forced their opinion onto me that I should I know that it was a mistake to book online versus through the counter. I tried to plead my case that I was only ensuring that I would have a car - versus arriving and having nothing available. At this point, I felt like your agent wanted to openly display their power over me and belittle me in public. I only needed help with options, possibly just making me feel comfortable with the situation, but there was only disdain in their mannerisms. This went on for an hour. This is not customer service, this is authoritarian dictatorship from behind a counter. This agent is a problem for your business.

Achtung!!! Sie akzeptieren keine Revolut Kreditkarten! Nirgends auf der Welt auch nicht bei SIXT in anderen Ländern hat ich bis jetzt Probleme mit meiner Kreditkarte, doch hier verweigern sie die Herausgabe des Fahrzeuges (nachdem man schon alles Vorausgezahlt hat) Ich empfehle die lokalen Autovermieter wie Autoatlantis um Probleme zu vermeiden. Nie wieder SIXT

We rented a car on November and picked it up and returned at PDL airport. We had a really good experience with SIXT. No hidden charges and return is flawless, the guy who checked the car and explained to us the detail charge it will be.
Update 12/2024: Der Vermieter bekommt von mir eine Bewertungsänderung von 1 auf 5 Sterne, die Abwicklung verläuft wirklich reibungslos, die Kaution bekommt man auch an gleichen Tag zurück! Sehr gut, dass es diese Bewertungen gibt! Ich habe einen Wagen bei Sixt reserviert, aber dann habe ich die schlechten Bewertungen hier gelesen, alles frische Bewertungen. Ich habe meine Buchung storniert und habe habe bei einem anderen Vermieter gebucht. Vor allem aber, finde ich die Antworten vom Sixt überhaupt nicht hilfreich und diese stellen auch keine Hilfe dar! Sixt müsste erst lernen wie man Kunden gewinnt! Viel Erfolg und Danke an die Bewerter! Achtung: In Deutschland werden die Sixt-Angebote für Ponta Delagada über BSP- Auto abgewickelt , die Versicherung läuft über Allianz Frankreich, d.h. im Falle eines Falles müsste man französisch sprechen können um eine Schadensregulierung zu beantragen! Auch andere Vetragsunklarheiten sind vorhanden, die Kautioninformationen im Vaucher von Sixt fehlen komplett, die Angaben bei BSP-Auto sind sehr kontrovers ! An deutsche Reisende: SIXT nicht über Billigermietwagen / BSP-Auto / SIXT buchen! Sollte SIXT oder BSP- Auto Probleme mit meiner sehr negativen Bewertung haben, können sich gerne bei mir melden und versuchen mich vom Gegenteil zu überzeugen!

Without asking in Portuguese, I was sold insurance that strangely corresponded to the amount of the deposit. Now I have paid three times (!) the amount for something in addition to the rent. Despite fully comprehensive insurance without deductible... Never again, beware to everyone reading this.

Wir haben in Ponta Delgada am Flughafen einen Clio gemietet. Die Dame von Sixt erklärte uns, dass es dort üblich sei, das Auto nicht voll getankt abzugeben. Sie würden es selbst tanken und das wäre billiger als wenn der Kunde es betankt. Mehrfach nachgefragt, versicherte man uns es wäre auf keinen Fall teurer als selbt zu tanken. Skeptisch habe ich es mal ausprobiert und promt bereut. Das Auto war nicht leer und man hat uns deutlich zu viel im Nachhinein berrechnet, scheinbar eine volle Tankfüllung. Insofern Falschinformationen/Betrug. Lasst euch nicht darauf ein und gebt das Fahrzeug voll getankt zurück ! Der Clio war 2 Jahre alt, das Getriebe total abgenutzt, aber ansonsten in Ordnung. UPDATE ES WIRD NOCH BESSER: 1,5 Wochen nach Ende des Urlaubs haben wir nun eine Rechnung von 1.900,- bekommen, weil wir angeblich die Kupplung in der Zeit (innerhalb von 1200km !!!) komplett zerstört hätten. Und ich habe mich zu Beginn des Urlaubs nur gewundert, wie schlecht ein Auto nach 50000km schon kuppeln kann. Hätte ich wohl nach den ersten km besser direkt umdrehen und das Auto zurück geben sollen. Ich hatte noch nie Probleme mit Mietwagen, die nicht zufriedenstellend gelöst wurden. Defekte Leuchten, etc. Gar kein Problem. Sowas unverschämtes, eine derartige Abzocke und das vom namhaften Unternehmen SIXT habe ich noch nie erlebt! Mietet dort nicht, zumindest in Ponta Delgada oder besteht darauf dass die tollen Mitarbeiten gefälligst mit euch ein Übergabeprotkoll draußen am Wagen erstellen ! Und wenn das Auto irgendwie schlecht fährt, sofort zurück und einen Ersatzwagen verlangen!! Das Verbraucherzentrum Deutschland warnt explizit vor dieser Masche in den typischen bergigen Urlaubsregionen!
Pick up and drop off were smooth and efficient. Very happy with the vehicle. Even with some existing slight cosmetic scratches and dings, there were no issues or added charges at drop off (I made sure to document everything via photo/video at pick up). And cant beat their price!

NICHT den Tankservice bei Abholung aufquatschen lassen Hatte für eine Woche einen Seat Arona. Gebucht als Skoda Kamiq mit Smart Schutz ohne SB. Ich war durchaus, bis auf wenige Punkte, bis jetzt zufrieden. Bei meiner Abholung des Wagens um 20:30 Uhr, fand keine Dokumentation der Vorschäden mit einem Sixt Mitarbeiter am Fahrzeug inkl. Innenraum statt. Es wurde bei Ankunft an der Sixt Station im Flughafen ein Dokument im Schnelldurchlauf mit mehreren Seiten auf einem Tablett gezeigt, was seitens des Kunden unterschrieben werden soll. Darauf zu erkennen: Rechnungsposten, alle dokumentierten Vorschäden des Fahrzeuges. Ebenfalls unterschreibt ihr dafür, dass es bis auf die dokumentierten Vorschäden am Fahrzeug keine weiteren Schäden gibt. Ihr unterschreibt diese Vorschäden, ohne das Fahrzeug vorher gesehen zu haben. Noch unendeckte Vorschäden, die ihr vielleicht mit einem Sixt Mitarbeiter am Ende der Mietzeit findet (woran ihr eventuell gar nicht Schuld seid), könnten laut AGB euch bei grober Fahrlässigkeit , auch mit Smart Schutz, in Rechnung gestellt werden. Innenraumschutz laut Sixt Mitarbeiter nicht notwendig, Wetter auf den Azoren aber sehr wechselhaft. Oft habt ihr Schlamm oder Matsch an den Füßen. Auto bei Rückgabe ohne Innenraumschutz säubern. Laut Google Bewertungen und meiner Erfahrung vor Ort, scheint es lukrativ zu sein, euch den Tankservice zu verkaufen. Sixt würde bessere Preise auf den Kraftstoff bekommen. Lehnt diesen Tankservice unbedingt ab! Habe ich auch getan, da der Tankservice und der in Rechnung gestellte Kraftstoff definitiv teurer werden als wenn ihr den Wagen wieder voll zurück gebt. Überlegt euch ebenfalls, ob ihr den Mobilitätsservice bucht, dieser dient bei selbstverschuldeten Fehlern wie leere Batterie oder verlorener Schlüssel. Wenn ihr aber einen Platten habt bekommt ihr trotzdem Hilfe (überall auf der Insel gibt es Assistent Schilder mit einer Pannennotrufnummer)

I have been asking them to get closing documents for accident to get my expenses covered by another company for weeks now. No response from their support team. Their FULL insurance covers nothing. Also cant even share documents to get covered rentalcars insurance.

Rented a car for 10 days and I drop it off with no damages and full tank, from gas station GALP at 2 km from the airport. The fuel was 8/8 and the employees at the desk confirmed and communicate to me that he made a typo mistake on the drop note putting 7/8 instead, than I went to the desk and the 2 employees confirmed it was a typo and they shown me the correction. After few days they send me and invoice for 40.00 euro for the gas charges!!!!! I am trying to call them since last 2 hours nobody is picking up the phone. Great services and internal comunication!!!*** ***It has been fixed. I have received the credit note and money back, please if you ancounter on same issue, asked them to fix it at the desk immediately.***
Maybe it was just Friday the 13th luck but hey I won t rent from SixT again, lots of other options and many are cheaper, I made the decision to rent from these guys again since last time was pretty easy. So their really bad website defaults to a 1230 pm pickup, watch out for this because if you set the time of pickup to match your flight arrival and make any changes after that it will go back to the default, I changed the drop off time and voila I now have the wrong pickup time. Amateur web designers I m afraid.
Actually had a surprisingly very good experience renting through Sixt at PDL. Be warned...all rental agencies there are stuffed into one little area and all seemed to be staffed by 1 person at a time so the check in process could be laborious and frustrating. We got lucky and had only 1 group of very confused and slow renters ahead of us (I think trying to change their reservation or who was allowed to drive or something annoying like that...tied up an extra 10-15 minutes of nonsense), but by the time we got our keys, the queue was quite long behind us (true for other rental car agencies). That being said, we got checked in and our vehicle in about 5 minutes time with no pressure for added insurance (primary insurance through our CC) and dealt with a very friendly and professional young lady at check in. I could really care less about what car I get, but ours was somewhat beat up with scratches and dings so it did take some time for us to document this on our phones. Most of the damage was already pre-recorded on Sixts documents so it was just an added level of protection for us upon return of the car to prove that we didnt cause any additional damage. This has happened with every rental car agency in multiple different countries so it is not unique to Sixt. Car actually was pretty feature rich for a somewhat older car (apple car play, heated seats, seemed to steer itself around curves, auto high beams, etc) and it took good care of us during our journey. Return took all of 2-3 minutes and the car was thoroughly reviewed by the check in staff before we were given the A-ok and final receipt (with no additional damage charges). Renting a car Is typically a maddening experience fraught with all sorts of potential issues but this was about as smooth and easy a process as I can recall. The walk to the car from check in was about 200 feet and we were on our way. Overall, I was very pleasantly surprised with our experience and would not hesitate to rent from Sixt again. The comments above are mostly minor observations and hold true across all rental car companies around the world. We got good value and service from Sixt on Sao Miguel and are grateful for such.
Easy to receive and return the car.
Always find car hire in Europe stressful but have had good experiences with Sixt in the US and was pleased to find them great here too. The airport counter was super fast for us. Helio was great showing us around the car, giving tips for the island, and giving us a quick and easy return process. The roads here are small and cars get dinged easily, so I recommend you get sufficient insurance in whatever way makes most sense for your home country, credit card etc.
Anmietung absolut freundlich, professionell und schnell. Ebenso problemlos und professionell verlief die Rückgabe des Wagens. Hatten ein recht neues und sehr gut ausgestattetes Fahrzeug. Wenn die Rückerstattung der Kaution ebenso super funktioniert, wovon ich ausgehe, alles absolut top. Klare Empfehlung.
AVISO A NAVEGANTES!!! Quiero compartir mi experiencia en Sixt con la intención de evitar sorpresas a futuros clientes. Recientemente, alquilé un coche a esta empresa en las islas Azores, sucursal de Ponta Delgada, durante 7 días. El personal que me atendió fue exquisito y extremadamente amable. El coche también estaba correcto y sin problema. El motivo de dar una puntuación tan baja es la política tan lamentable y dudosamente legal que tiene la mencionada compañía. He alquilado con otras 6 marcas y nunca me había pasado lo que voy a contar. Lo peor es que en ningún momento fui advertido por nadie ni lo vi escrito por ningún lado. Seguro que en alguna parte del contrato aparecerá en letra súper pequeña y no hay nada ilegal, pero sí que es poco ético por decirlo suavemente. Que sepa todo aquel que se vaya a aventurar como cliente que le van a cobrar, en el momento de retirar el vehículo, la cantidad acordada en su página web cuando haces la reserva más 300 de fianza, y el día que devuelves el vehículo (en mi caso yo lo tuve 7 días) te vuelven a cobrar el importe acordado en su página web, esta vez sin los 300 extras Quince días después del primer pago, te devuelven la primera cantidad que pagaste incluida la fianza y se quedan con el importe del segundo pago. Es decir, se las apañan para tener de manera totalmente injustificada un dinero que es tuyo durante ocho días porque sí. Te encuentras con la situación de haber pagado dos veces por un mismo servicio, aunque te vayan a devolver la mitad de lo cobrado. ¿Por qué te pasan dos veces una misma cuota? En mi caso el primer pago fueron casi 1000 . El sorpresón vino al comprobar que el día que devolví el automóvil me lo habían vuelto a cobrar, esta vez casi 700 !!! Durante 8 días el importe que yo pagué a Sixt fueron 1700 , y en teoría en su página web ofertaban que sería un único pago de 700 . Así que aquel que vaya a elegirlos que cuente con que le van a cobrar el doble de lo acordado para devolverle luego la primera parte. Inexplicable!!!

Excellent service from Sixt at Ponta Delgada airport. Inês was very friendly, helped my partner and I select a car, and we speedily got the keys and were on our way. Return was stress free and simple. We opted for the highest level of insurance which also covered tyres, and we were reassured at every point that wed have nothing to worry about and that wed be covered. It did take quite a long time to get my deposit back, but it did come!
À fuir: notre avion avait du retard et ils ont donné la voiture à quelqu un d autre prétextant un no show. On a dû louer chez un autre loueur à qui il restait des véhicules pas hors de prix.
Alquilamos un Clio para 6 días y el chico que nos atendió para entregarnos el coche fue muy amable y simpático, hicimos muchas fotos al coche porque tenía muchos rascazos y alguna abolladura para demostrar que no lo habíamos hecho nosotros al devolverlo, ya que leí en las reseñas que a mucha gente parecía que les habían cobrado por daños muy pequeños o que incluso ya estaban antes de alquilarlo. Pero devolvimos el vehículo y no hubo ningún problema, así que lo recomiendo. El coche funcionó muy bien y todo el proceso y el personal de Sixt fue muy amable, sobretodo el chico que nos entregó el coche a nuestra llegada a Ponta Delgada.
Cest du vol. Nous avons eu une crevaison lente qui a apparu au 2éme jour de location. Le kit anti crevaison avait été déjà utilisé comme indiqué sur la fiche détat du véhicule au départ... Il était donc assez évident quil yavait une problème. Nous avons donc ramené la voiture pour léchanger. Rafael P ma obligé de signer le retour du véhicule avec un défaut : Crevaison. Il ma expliqué que ce ne sera pas facturé et quil a mis un commentaire... En réalité, cela ma couté 160 ! Malgré les explications, ils nont rien voulu entendre. Absolument pas professionnel.
Make sure you take a detailed video before leaving with your car. They will look over the car with unnecessary detail and try to find something that wasn t listed on the report when you left.

Rented a car with them last week. Honest to say that the workers in the counter and the ones dispatching the cars were really friendly. The problem? They force you to leave an extra deposit of 300 euros, and when you give the car back in perfect conditions (confirmed by them with an official document added where after reviewing the car they state the car is perfect) they give you back only 180. You send mails, ask for the rest of the money, and more than a week after you have a partial refund of 180/300, no answer, no explanation. Unless you have an answer to this, you lost a client for life for 120 euros. Hope it was worth it, what a disastrous way of managing a situation like this guys.
Waiting time at the counter was over 30min. By the time our turn arrived they told us we arrived too early and our car was not yet available. No proactive complimentary solution or upgrade was offered, therefore we ended up waiting another hour. Service staff seemed to be struggling with their computers. What made the experience worthwhile was the car which was clean, spacious and comfortable. Also vehicle réception staff was super friendly and helpful in complete contrast with the service desk colleagues.

First of all, it took us more than an hour and a half to get the car (we were 3rd in line) when we rented last Tuesday (this was prior to the IT outage on Thursday) although the girl was quite apologetic. Other customers mentioned that this happens more often than not with SIXT. The car ran well and when we went to return the car, the person who inspected it, mentioned that there were no additional damages. Note that there were already damages to the rims at many places when we picked up the car which had not been repaired. A couple of days after returning, we get an email stating that the front passenger rim had additional damage, so they will charge us 300 Euros for repair. This is a complete scam. And they had not repaired any other rim damages. Please avoid this location. ** Update - July 29 ** After couple of back and forth with the car condition team, they have not shared the before pictures of the car. I would also like to add that while returning the car, the person who inspected made no mention of a return check sheet. Now the team is sending me a return check sheet stating that a new damage was reported in it which was signed by me and they have charged me 300 Euros and will not change their position. This is a complete scam as I did not sign a return checksheet with the damage reported. I just signed a document to return the car and this damage comment was added later to the check sheet. This is a complete scam and should be reported all the way up to the ministry, and make people avoid traveling to Azores.

There was only one person working at the counter, but as there was only one customer in front of us, we wasnt waiting long. Of course they ask about buying a better insurance and if we want to return the car with a full or empty tank, but as soon as we indicate that we dont need any extras, they gave us the keys. Weve booked the cheapest car they had and they gave us a Renault Clio which almost had 43.000km on the clock and a lot damages listed in the contract. I was a bit disappointed that there was no Upgrade available for me as a Sixt Platinum member. We easily spot the car on the parking lot. Car was reliable for the week we had it. Return was straight, we just parked the car under the roof, someone instantly checked the car and confirmed that we didnt cause any new damage. I can only guess that they usually make their money with charging the customer for the damages, otherwise they would repair them and not hand out cars with already 10 damages in the contract. Cars of all other rental companies on the island was in a better shape than ours.
Worst rental experience ever, never again. Our car died after a few days, probably a software glitch. OK, s..t happens. Called service hotline, they sent a tow truck, which came an hour later. Tow mechanic couldn t get the car fixed, towed it away. Service Hotline advised to stay put, will send a taxi. No taxi after 90+ minutes, service hotline then advised us to get a taxi ourselves and promised the expense will be paid by Sixt. Once we arrived at the Sixt counter many hours later, no information about us needing a replacement car had trickled down to the staff. They still helped, thanks for that. However, when we asked about the taxi cost the next day, the Sixt representative not only refused to refund the taxi cost; but did so in an unacceptably unfriendly and outright hostile way. TL;DR: car died in the middle of nowhere, getting a replacement cost us about 6 hours, Sixt left us stranded without a car and refused to pay for the taxi. Clearly, getting their bl car back, was much more important to Sixt than helping their customers.
A fuir absolument ! Lagence SIXT ma facturé un montant de 279,21 pour une soi-disant rayure que jaurais faite sur un véhicule loué lors de mon séjour à Sao Miguel. Alors que javais pris la précaution de filmer la voiture au moment de la restitution puisque lagence était fermée. 3 jours après mon retour, Sixt ma envoyé un mail avec une photo montrant une rayure, qui napparaissait pas sur ma vidéo. Malgré cette preuve par limage, lagence na pas voulu entendre raison. Jaurais dû consulter les autres avis pour me rendre compte que cest visiblement une pratique courante pour cette agence. Cest très regrettable de la part dune entreprise de la taille comme Sixt. Je mets une étoile parce que on ne peut pas en mettre 0 !
Ok. I know there a lot of 1-star reviews, but that was definitely not my experience. It was super easy to book online (I really needed an automatic car) and a lot of the other websites were confusing so I decided to go with a company that I at least knew a little bit. The whole experience was great! Thiago from the get go was so helpful, they had the car seats I had requested for the kids and they upgraded my car for free as well! It was just the right size to fit all the luggage. We did a full walk through before getting the car and they clearly explained with full disclosure the current dents and scratches on the car and what we would be responsible for if something happened. When we returned the car we did a full walk through again and there werent any issues. They have them all documented so honestly it is pretty straightforward. They arent hiding anything. Definitely recommend them and I would have no problem getting another car from them in the future.
Expérience assez désagréable : nous avions réservé une voiture avant notre voyage mais une fois arrivés, l employée de Sixt agacée nous informe qu il nous faut une carte de crédit et non de débit pour prendre la voiture (nous n avions pas vu cette mention lors de la réservation). Impossible de changer de carte bancaire sur la réservation, l employée ne nous apporte aucune solution (à part d annuler notre réservation pour en refaire une nouvelle, pour un prix 2,5 fois supérieur à la première réservation). Nous avons finalement réservé chez Hertz à la place pour un prix beaucoup plus raisonnable.
While the pick up was very friendly I had read reviews about the drop off attendants trying to find any tiny reason to claim new damage. The roads on the island are sometimes a bit treacherous and it would be easy to get a small scratch or knick in the paint, tire or glass. The pickup attendant told me anything under 5 cm wouldnt be reviewed, but I figured that was probably a lie. The pickup attendant downplayed the existing damage and the drop off attendant tried to blame me for a preexisting knick in a tire, which was, by the way, less than 5 cm. Luckily I had videoed the pickup inspection where the attendant mentioned the knick, but otherwise I would have been paying for a new tire. Even after I played the video for him the drop off attendant still was hesitant to let me go without finding something wrong. The pickup inspection was about 60 seconds and the drop off inspection was almost 10 minutes. There are many reviews like this, and I can attest they are true. Even my video might not have been enough as I videoed the existing damage quickly thinking it had already been catalogued. Obviously it wasnt. This was the worst car rental return Ive been through. Anyone renting from here should take about 15 minutes with the attendant present at pickup and slowly video every inch of the car. Or, better yet, there are several other companies on site to rent from with much better reviews, and despite what is written online they all have cars right at the airport, not far offsite. Definitely will not be using this company again. I wonder if all Sixt locations are like this or just this one.

Super freundlicher und kompetenter Service durch den Mitarbeiter direkt vor Ort (@Frederico Lopes). Man hat sich direkt willkommen gefühlt und von der Entgegennahme bis zur Abgabe super professionell und einfach. Vom Hallo bis zur Entgegennahme des Fahrzeugs keine 5 min. Und auch bei der Rückgabe easy. Würde ich wieder über Sixt auf Sao Miguel machen!
**Frustrating and Disappointing Experience with Sixt** I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with my recent experiences renting cars from Sixt. Despite being a loyal customer who has never caused any damage to their cars, Ive faced multiple unfair situations that have soured my view of their service. Recently, I was blamed for damage to the underside of a car, which Im sure was already there before I rented it. Unfortunately, due to repeated flight cancellations, I had to rush during the car return and couldn t inspect the car with an agent. Later, they charged me 200 without providing any proof that the car was undamaged before I rented it. Despite this, I gave Sixt another chance and rented a car at a different location. This time, I recorded the entire handover process, which took over an hour and was quite awkward for both me and the employee. Yet again, I found damages that were not listed in their supposed perfect damage registry. A couple of days later, I noticed even more unlisted damages. Thankfully, I had recorded the initial inspection, which clearly showed these damages were present before I took the car. Sixts claim of meticulous damage tracking is simply untrue, and their service has been a series of frustrations for me. Im sharing my story as a warning to others to be very cautious and thorough if you choose to rent from Sixt. Their handling of these situations has been unfair and has significantly inconvenienced me, both financially and emotionally.

I had a great experience just renting with this location. The check-out agent thoroughly reviewed all the existing damage on the car (dents, scrapes, scratches), fully explained what would qualify as new damage, gave us instructions for exiting and returning, and gave us advice and tips for weather apps, driving conditions, and locations to visit. Upon return, a different agent was very courteous, professional, and efficient. We received very clear, friendly, and TRANSPARENT service from start to finish.

SCAM!! - do NOT rent from this place!!! As a regular SIXT renter, I m appalled at this facility to the point I may never rent from Sixt again. I will be calling the headquarters to file a complaint about this place in general. We had a blast traveling around the island. It s so beautiful! Unfortunately this wonderful experience was ruined by fraudsters. We returned the car to the airport where upon checking they said we curbed the tire (we 100% did not). We appealed the complaint, and after issuing video evidence taken at time of pickup (where curb residue and tear were already evident) they denied the evidence as being clear , immediately charging my credit card for $339, under an alternate business name no less: JAPrac Car Rental (look it up for poor reviews). How they even came to that number?.. I m filing a dispute. In addition, on our 2nd day, the tire pressure monitor complained about the rear tire being low and continued for the remainder of our 5 day trip, a hazard that could ve jeopardized our safety, contributing to an accident, yet I didn t complain (even during the appeal). Absolutely horrible and now knowing, I m confident they do this to each renter. The guy knew exactly where to look when checking the car over. And more so, curbing doesn t cause that kind of superficial damage, maybe razor blades do.. They should be ashamed. Take videos and lots of pictures!

DONT RENT FROM THIS OFFICE - they SCAM customers. I was charged $500 for superficial sidewall damage to my tire. I am pretty sure this small defect was already on most of their cars. Lots of other reviewers fall victim to this scam. Just read the reviews. Unfortunately I did not have a high res photo of that area of the car. Take lots of detailed pictures. It may not help you but at least its evidence. SIXT should have higher standards and CLOSE this branch. Stop scamming your customers to boost your revenue.

Read the reviews and decide if its worth the hassle to spend weeks filing a claim on nonsense charges because Sixt will find anything to create a bill. We actually had a pleasant rental experience up until the final moments at checkout. The agent circled a 2cm nick on the inner edge of a rubber tire that has no operational impact. He told us not to worry, it wont be too bad and asked if we had insurance. Surprise! Days later, we receive a bill for $327 ( 298) and they are dishonestly billing it as a crack. Thankfully, we have insurance but when Sixt knows this, they seem to play these games. A whole new tire costs $150 and I doubt this needs to be replaced entirely I hope insurance companies verify this. After our vacation, we spent weeks filling out paperwork, which really soured our experience with Sixt. Do yourself a favor and use a different agency.

AVOID. Long lines (45 min. +) and inexperienced administrators that do not solve problems. Lots of excuses and no solutions. There are rental car solutions in São Miguel that provide quality customer support. AVOID Sixt!
Wir waren mit unserem Kompaktklasse SUV nicht zufrieden und der Nissan Qasquai den wir gegen Aufpreis genommen haben, hatte fast 30.000km und war ziemlich dreckig. Leider auch viele Vorschäden und man wollte mir unbedingt eine Tankauffüllung verkaufen, die ich aber nicht wollte.

I read the same opinion from so many persons. Stay away from sixt Ponta Delgada. During our holiday at Ponta Delgada we rented a car: Ford Puma AX 12 EX 16-23 January 2024. We ordered a car with Booking.com with full insurance. It Costs about 115 euro (car rental and insurance). We had two drivers. We paid extra for a second driver and full gas bout 65 euro- we returned the car with full gasolina. We returned car 23rd January at 8AM. We wait long time for service. And when appeared we got information that car will be checked and if it`s full fuel and without damages our deposit will be received. After a couple days we got back our deposit from credit card for car and fuel. In this week at my credit card i saw two deposits for 212 euro date 5/02/2024 and 35 euro date 6/02/2024.I called customer service: +351255788199 where I was informed that someone found damaged at car. Also we had been informed about problem at mail and without any information from our side car rental decided to seize funds from account.I asked for: prove that anyone from sixt contact with us by mail because we had no information from car operator and it had our two mails and two phone numbers and even our contact. Pictures, films and dates that we allegedly made- it`s strange situation that first someone returned deposite- so he checked the car and state that there was not even scratch on car and after one month found dameges- we have no idee what happend thru that time period. We made pictures, film with car Ford Puma AX12EX. We have witnesses that car was in good condition at 23rd January 4. Seizure of funds at our credit card it`s abuse and we did not agree for that without any explain. According to the law it`s illegal in EU and we notified bank and police. Reading opinion at google it`s common behavior at that company. We feel obligated to inform future clients about that Since week there is no response from Sixt.

These guys charged me 92,..eur when I returned my car. No response to my e-mails. Stay away travellers. Solved in the meanwhile but you need to call and search for the mistake yourself. So you need to figure it out and than theyll refund the same day.

Dommage de ne pas pouvoir mettre 0 étoiles. Fuyez le plus loin possible, honte à Sixt! Sixt vient de me prélever 1300 pour un problème mécanique lié à une casse de boîte de vitesse. Le véhicule en question a plus de 51000km et Sixt refuse de me partager les éléments liés à l entretien de ce véhicule. Il est impossible que cela soit lié à ma location qui a duré 4 jours. Pour information, ce prélèvement a eu lieu au mois de novembre, soit 3 mois après la location du véhicule alors que Sixt m avait retourné ma caution! Il semblerait que Sixt attende la fin de la période d activité estivale pour traiter les « problèmes » et grâce à cela continuer à gagner de l argent même lorsqu il n y a plus de locations..! Une pure arnaque qui peut concerner n importe qui! Faire de petites économies en choisissant Sixt lors de votre voyage au Portugal peut vous coûter cher par la suite, pensez-y bien!
Unexpectedly it was really good experience with renting a car here, took Clio, first car had a screw in wheel, so was quickly changed to another one, Guy explained everything in details, reviewed all damages and suggested to take a photos just in case I dont trust. On accepting the car, again everything was reviewed, no problems at all. BTW better to wash the car in automated machine, it costs 4.50, cheeper than on self-washing station. Also therere 2 petrol stations near the airport.
Rental prices are high, the people who work here are impolite and rude. They establish in the rules that you must have a credit card, but if it is in the phone, they do not accept it and force you to buy insurance for 160 euros. Thats how they make money on all the people who have a credit card in the phone or a debit card. The condition of the car is so-so.
One cannot encounter nicer and more professional people, both in respect to the airport counter (Daniela Arruda, who dealt with our contract, was simply first class) and the car delivery individuals. The vehicle was perfectly clean and in excellent working condition. I wouldnt dream of booking with anyone else in Sao Miguel.

Mal atención al cliente, no habia nadie en el mostrador, tardaron en llegar. En el proceso tuvieron un error de sistema y no podiamos pagar, nos atendieron de malas formas y sin darnos ninguna solución. Tuvimos que cancelar y contratar un coche con otra compañía, donde por cierto la tarjeta si nos funciono y fueron mucho más simpáticos y nos salió mejor de precio.

SCAMMERS do not pre-pay for fuel. I was very tired from an overnight flight and was mislead into pre-paying for fuel. The attendant told me if I brought the tank back empty they would charge me 78 euros versus if I filled at an outside gas station which would cost 96 euros. Outside of the airport, I asked someone how much they paid to fill their car, and they told me 40-60 euros, depending on the car. Sure enough, it costed me 46 euros to fill. So, I brought the tank back full since they reassured me I would be refunded for the pre-paid fuel. Now it s seeming impossible to get this refund. They couldn t do it on-sight. Customer service has been useless. They are stealing peoples money and scamming. Shame on them.

Joana Sousa (customer relations; what a joke) is a repulsive woman. She lies, cheats and scams people for a living. Sixt portugal is filled with people like her. You are better off hiring a donkey to get around Portugal than hiring a car from these scam artists. They will find any way to charge you for things you have not done because they don t know how to make money any other way.
My flight was delayed 2 hours and they left me without a car for not giving notice even though I called repeatedly to let them know and no one answered the phone Its unfortunate that they leave you stranded with a confirmed reservation. To make matters worse, they offer me another car for almost 3 times more

Très déçue..J avais en amont réservé la voiture et payé l assurance au tiers sur internet via Opodo et lorsque je suis allée faire les papiers au comptoir Sixt la personne m a obligée à prendre une assurance Tous risques de 300 supplémentaires sinon je ne pouvais pas récupérer le véhicule, j ai donc signé le document contrainte et forcée et n ai maintenant aucuns recours...Donc un conseil passez par des sociétés peut être moins connues mais je pense beaucoup plus honnêtes !
Normally, I do not write reviews for car rental outlets. However, I really have to do it in this case. The staff was so friendly and helpful and explained everything in detail, fuel refill or prepay, what they charge, what apps are good for the island etc. Had a discount so I cannot give any information about prices. But... just compare.
We had a great experience renting from them. Daniela and Inês were so welcoming and friendly, they helped us quickly and efficiently while also giving great recommendations we asked for and connecting with us. Outside, Hélio was also very connective and extremely informative about the islands. He showed that has a lot of pride in his home and after a week it is very clear why. Amazing experience, definitely will return. It feels wonderful to meet such great people!

No contratéis con ellos! Son unos estafadores! Alquilamos un coche a través de un intermediario con el seguro incluido en Ponta Delgada. Cuando llegamos a Sixt le dijimos al señor Costa que es el agente que nos atendió que ya teníamos el seguro contratado y él nos metió un seguro adicional de más de 400 . Cuando vimos los importes y no nos cuadraban se lo volvimos a repetir y nos dijo que era el depósito y que nos lo devolverían al entregar el coche. Que solo nos cobraría el fuel al entregar el coche nos dijeron que esto no era así. A pesar de poner una queja en el libro de reclamaciones y enviarles otro mail no se han dignado ni a contestar. Son unos impresentables. Mantengo mi postura ante la contestación que me habéis dado. Engañáis a los turistas haciéndoles creer que luego se les devolverá el importe abonado como depósito y lo que habéis hecho es meterle un seguro extra. No entiendo como una compañía tan extendida mundialmente tiene estos valores de empresa

Was given an unsafe car. The clutch gave out going up through the valley in the rain. Very unsafe. Customer service rep at airport was very rude and antagonistic. Nothing but car issues and two days after giving my credit card info to them I started seeing so many deposits and charges. Poor customer service. The manager and staff need customer service training..Avoid returning to car to Diogo Furtado..all 3 of our rentals returned he found tire markings....was laughable..only thing they care about is scamming tourists!
I rented a car for 3 days in mid August. From check-in at the reception desk and returning the car at the end of the booking, each Sixt employee were so professional and charismatic. To top it off, Tiago kindly let me use the reception desk iPad to resolve a visa issue I had with SATA airlines. He was also kind enough to print the documents I needed to board the flight. Thanks for the great service Sixt!

Jai eu exactement la même mésaventure que Sandrine Champeau ci dessous: J ai loué une voiture de l agence Sixt par l intermédiaire de Booking. J ai fait la réservation en ligne pour une Renault Captur que je devais récupérer à l agence Sixt Ponta Delgada, aéroport aux Açores, j ai payé par avance 1025 euros; Arrivée à l agence je sors ma carte Mastercard pour la caution de 500 ; On me l a refuse car ce n est pas une carte de crédit, mais une carte de débit.....On ne nous a proposé aucune autre solution, nous étions dans une impasse totale, sans même une perspective de remboursement. Nous avons même proposé de payer la caution de 500 euros en espèce pour pouvoir avoir la voiture. Lagent n a rien voulu savoir, et elle était par ailleurs très peu conciliante, et même désagréable. Nous nous en sommes sortis via le N° durgence de Booking, ce qui nous a permis dannuler le contrat avec SIXT, et tracter avec une agence locale : ILHA VERDE. Réactifs, commerciaux, professionnels, et surtout honnêtes, nous avons pu récupérer une voiture pour quelques euros de plus ....Ils acceptaient aussi notre carte de crédit. Je ne comprends pas que ces escrocs de SIXT bénéficient encore du label SIXT, et soient encore référencés chez les grands voyagistes : Expedia, Booking, ou Opodo,.....

Bei Sixt meint man ja eigtl einen vertrauenswürdigen Anbieter zu wählen, aber dem ist hier leider ganz und gar nicht so. Bereits bei Abholung des Autos hat man versucht uns über den Tisch zu ziehen, indem uns ein Tankservice am Ende der Mietdauer angeboten wurde. Wir würden nicht extra zur Tanke fahren müssen (was nun wirklich kein Provblem ist) und man würde uns am Flughafen das Auto dann zu einem günstigeren Preis volltanken. Erst auf meine Nachfrage hin hat man uns gesagt, dass hier allerdings immer ein voller Tank berechnet wird, auch wenn dieser nur halb leer ist!! Der Hammer kam aber dann bei Rückgabe des Autos. Wir mussten dieses an der Mietwagenstation abstellen und den Schlüssel einwerfen, weil noch keiner da war, da unser Flug so früh ging. Gott sei Dank haben wir noch Fotos vom ohne Mängel abgestellten Fahrzeug gemacht, bevor wir es verlassen haben. Ein paar Tage später kam dann eine Email mit einer Forderung von über 450 Euro, weil wir den Spiegel auf der Beifahrerseite beschädigt hätten. Es waren Fotos dabei, auf denen zu erkennen war, dass man hier einfach den Spiegel aus dem Gehäuse gezogen hat!!! Gott sei Dank hatten wir ja auch Fotos gemacht, die bewiesen haben, dass der Spiegel in Ordnung war, als wir das Auto verlassen haben. Hätten wir die nicht gehabt, hätten wir vermutlich zahlen müssen, weil was soll man machen, wenn man bereits wieder Daheim ist und nichts mehr beweisen kann. Übrigens wären wir ab 500 Euro Schaden wohl versichert gewesen, wie man uns mitgeteilt hat - daher wohl der Forderungsbetrag knapp unter dieser Summe. Es wurde hier einfach schlichtweg versucht uns zu betrügen und das lässt sich auch nicht schön reden!! Man wollte einfach die Tatsache ausnutzen, dass wir bei Rückgabe des Autos niemand antreffen konnten, dem wir das Auto persönlich mit Kontrolle auf Mängel übergen konnten. Und ich bin mir sicher, dass es nicht nur uns so ergangen ist mit dieser Autovermietung!! Mir wurde der Betrag dann übrigens auch noch auf meiner Kreditkarte belastet und ich musste 5 x hinterhertelefonieren, bis ich das Geld endlich wieder bekommen habe!!! Einfach eine absolute Frechheit das Ganze!!!

Great experience! Tiago Costa was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was extremely helpful, professional and kind. He even gave us a print out of his recommendations of places to visit and restaurants to dine at. Our return flight was cancelled, and he also assisted in helping us find a solution. The car was in perfect condition, clean, rode smoothly and was great on gas. I highly recommend this company.

Kann es eigentlich nur empfehlen. Miete mega entspannt und sehr professionell. Bester Vorteil Sixt: wir hatten unser Auto nach 10 min. Bei den anderen und lokalen Anbieter wartet man Stunden wegen der Schlange und langsamen Vorgang (siehe die Bewertungen). Der Mitarbeiter Tiago auch absolut kompetent, schnell und gibt auch gute Tipps. Auto selbst top technischer zustand, nur 11k km drauf. Da fahren von anderen Anbieter ganz andere Kisten rum. Rückgabe und Kaution zurück auch ohne Probleme. Mit Vollkasko ist Sixt auch nicht viel teuerer als die anderen Anbieter. Nehmt nen kleinen, schlanken SUV. Nix größeres, soviele ganz enge Gassen auf der Insel. Bodenfreiheit ist für die Parkplätze im den Bergen ganz gut. Die Clio und Corsa gehen da gerne mal auf.

If I could I would give zero stars. What we experienced at the counter today was quite an impertinence. Super unprofessional counter staff who really needs training on how to behave in different customer service situations. The employee at the car handover was nice, but could not save the whole thing. I cant recommend it at all and wouldnt rent anything here again. We also took photos and videos at the handover and will do the same at the drop-off in case they try to rip us off here too...

Dont rent here. These people are frauds. They reported scratches on the rim of my rental cars rims and are trying to charge me $582 for them. At no point did I damage this car and now theyre trying to charge me for this nonsense. And the charge is also ridiculous, where do these scammers come up with this number? Furthermore, they didnt even have an agent do an inspection of the car with me. Ive rented over 30 cars during the course of my lifetime without incident. I will never use SIXT rent a car again and will never hesitate to badmouth this fraudulent company. Sie sind schrecklich!

When arriving to pickup online reservation Staff at counter was trying to upsell us on gas fill up option which didn t favour the customer. Friend booked reservation but staff would not let me be the driver without adding me as a second driver at a cost of 10 euros a day. This forced my friend to have to drive. Rip off policy. Everything revolves around Sixt and not the customer. Warning light came on regarding tire pressure. Filled air but light didn t go out. Return staff said it s because they put on different tires. Wish they told us when we picked up to avoid our concern the entire trip

Really great rental experience from start to finish. Check in was easy, the car we got was a nicer model than expected, and returning it was hassle free even though it was in the middle of the night. Just as you would hope a car rental should go.

Plain fraud - I had booked and paid a rental for 6 days, 10AM to 10AM. When I collected the car I was asked when will you return it. I replied not sure, perhaps at 7 or shortly before 10. The lady at the counter inserted 7 into the contract. I pointed this out and asked twice: I may return it at 10, not at 7 as you put. Will this be a problem? She stated very clearly that it wouldnt, as I had picked the car up later than 10 and had paid for 6 days, any return up to the same time 6 days later would be covered. Guess what happened - exactly, I was deducted late fees and when I contacted Sixt they told me due to the impossibility of reproducing what happened at the counter they would keep the charge. You tell me, but when you ask twice and get reassured all good, you dont start a discussion. Guess I should have because they didnt keep their word. Cannot recommend at all. The car was also in a sorry state and several previous damages, including a huge dent in the roof were undocumented. Take your business somewhere else. EDIT After over a month, Sixt would still not refund me. Only when I involved the booking portal I had used and AFTER I posted this and other reviews, did they budge. I was plainly informed that despite them having all the documents to prove me wrong, Id get my money back. Now I am being asked to update my review, as if it was a great experience now. Well - it wasnt. Running after your money and only coming to a decent solution once big brother is in the room is no way to conduct a serious business. So my review stands - I cannot recommend this car rental for lack of professionalism and customer service. Asking me to change my review clearly shows the organisation learnt nothing from this mishap.

Everthing went really well. The employee showed us all the previous damage at the car that was noted already. The car was really nice. Handoff was really quick without problem. They checked for additional damages and then let us sign that everything was fine and i got the deposit back w.o. problem. Contrair to other reviews they neither tried to sell us extras or rip us off. So i would definetly book with them again.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS! Will charge your card as they please and no explanation given and then will not respond to emails!! Rented a car from here and returned in perfect condition (23 December). Took photos and videos both before and after. When I returned, I asked the staff at least 3 different people that can they inspect my car and release my deposit and confirm no damages but they said they are too busy with incoming clients and I should just leave the keys in the box and they ll sort it out. After a few days, I noticed extra charges on my credit card. Then after a full 9-10 days after I had returned the car and they had already charged me extra once, I noticed another whopping 160+ charge on the credit card. No invoice, no explanation just straight charging. I called them and the person on the phone was unhelpful, did not explain what the charge breakdown was and why they charged extra on two occasions, and so many days later and the transaction had a reservation number which wasn t even mine! All he said was that this is for damage. When I disputed and said I have proof he said he can t do anything and that I should email them. They haven t responded to my emails, not even acknowledging it! I m out of pocket 250+ EUR in two separate additional charges which I don t understand and they ve not given me an invoice, haven t explained what they ve billed me for, are not responding to my email! This is a scam and a fraud! Stay away from this at all costs!

Avoid SIXT! The car was fine, but five days after I returned it they said a tire had been damaged. While this does appear in the photo they sent I think the tire was old, which is why the islands bad roads might have damaged it slightly (it did not go flat!). I had noticed worn tread earlier. Moreover, the tires were very underinflated when we got the car. I have driven rental cars on many dirt roads with stones like on San Miguel and none were ever damaged. I protested to no avail and they charged my EUR 340 even though tires are available to them at a fraction of the cost. This scam seems to be a trend for SIXT since there are several more reviews with the same comments. Botton line - I will never rent from SIXT again, so they lose more money than they overcharged me for the tire.
The Sixt rental from Ponta Delgada Airport was super smooth. We took the car in around 10 minutes, the return of the car was also fast and the deposit was unblocked in the day of return. I can only recommend Sixt!
They will look you in the eye and lie straight to your face repeatedly in the most disgusting, spineless, sly manner, and will charge your card as they please. I rented a car via booking.com and paid the full price in advance for my stay in December. At the pick-up desk, I was convinced to upgrade to a bigger one because of road conditions (the roads are completely fine, by the way). I was told that it would only cost me 30 euros extra because of some promotion. I asked several times if it really is 30 euros only for the whole trip, including everything. I was told yes. I ended up paying via booking.com once and directly to Sixt, so more than double the original price. Deceptive communication is one thing, and thats pretty much what I would expect from a salesman (the lowest form of existence), but straight up lying to a customers question is on another level! They will ignore your feedback and emails when you try to complain.
Leider nicht zu empfehlen (wie meine Vorrednerin) Wir haben das Auto mit diversen Vorschäden mitgenommen (welche alle nicht repariert werden, sondern da wird nur abkassiert ;) und sind mit dem Auto 5 Tage lang gefahren. Morgens mussten wir das Fahrzeug abstellen und den Schlüssel einwerfen, weil keiner so früh um 5 Uhr dort arbeitet. Nach 11 Tagen kriegen wir heute eine E-Mail, dass eine Beschädigung festgestellt wurde, an einer Felge, die uns 140 kosten soll. Absolut dreckige Masche von Sixt. Dasselbe Problem wurde hier schon geschildert und es ist ein Muster erkennbar. Ich empfinde das als Blödsinn, Abzocke, nicht zu empfehlen. Schade um das Image für die Azoren.

Been to the Azores 10 times. Booked through Sixt for the first time. Was the best of all. Fast, uncomplicated and the children received a coloring book with pencils.

Be aware - guy at the counter (Tiago Costa) will prompt you to buy prepaid fuel option and promise you to refund any money for uninsured fuel, when you ask for a refund he wont speak to you and charge full 75 . Beware!
Tolto il tentativo di effettuare un upgrade ad un modello superiore a quello effettivamente scelto in fase di prenotazione tutto il personale si è dimostrato molto gentile, anche in fase di riconsegna del veicolo. Seconda nota: ci avevano proposto lopzione di acquistare il pieno di carburante ad un prezzo vantaggioso e riconsegnare lauto senza effettuare rifornimento. Per fortuna non abbiamo accettato in quanto nonostante laver percorso 650 Km girando più volte intorno allisola in una settimana abbiamo speso meno di quanto ci sarebbe costato il pacchetto. Se dovessi tornare mi affiderei nuovamente a Sixt.

Caríssimo alugar um carro em São Miguel.
I rented a car in the Azores as an American who speaks no Portuguese. All of the dealing were in English... except for the paper contract for the rental agreement. That should have been a red flag. No one went over existing damage with us, no damage is listed in the diagram. Damages were only listed in the contract at the bottom in Portuguese. I didnt even know thats what they were. It was only shown to us as we were returning the car. With a blurry photo that was taken 2 weeks ago (we only had the car for 4 days) claiming damage. I would strongly avoid renting from sixt. They use English online, on the phone and in person, but suddenly no english for the contract? At least I paid with a credit card so I can fight the charges.
Poor service. Overcharged my credit card. Still blocking 740 EUR after ~2 weeks of returning the vehicle while the Sixt employee mentioned it would take 2-3 business days. Not recommended.

Everything was smooth. There were no issues communicating in english and the contract was both in english and portugese and it had detailed list of damaged parts of the car. To be sure make a video of the car status. Everybody was nice to me and there were no problems.
Extremely friendly and helpful guy at the counter who did everything to help us and succeeded. I recommend to rent a car there fully.
1. Beware. Diego tried to convince me that it would be cheaper for me to pay them to fill up the tank at the end of the trip because the fee is 5 less than a full tank refill. Dont let this trick you. Unless you return the car with a *completely* empty tank (very unlikely) its cheaper to do the partial refill yourself (since it will be less than a full tank). 2. Diego tried very persistently to get us to buy insurance despite us already having insurance. It felt like he was more interested in making extra money than our best interest. 3. Between the booking agency and Sixt we were overcharged. Not sure whos at fault yet. 4. I rescheduled booking the car for pickup later in the day because our flight was delayed. Diego called and said not to worry hed keep our initial booking and it didnt matter if we were a bit late. Only later did I realize that the later booking would have been cheaper. Another way for Sixt to make more money...

Rented 29/08/2022 to 04/09/2022 , had a contract for a rental with full coverage on insurance before arrival and as soon as I pulled up to the rental desk they hit me for an extra 363.52 euros . These guys are like a banana republic country scammers and dirt bags. I put a complaint into the European Union complaint office to pull their business licence. Do not rent from these guys very dishonest company

Bonjour j ai loué une voiture de l agence Sixt par l intermédiaire d expédia j ai fait la réservation en ligne pour une Renault capture que je devais récupérer à l agence Sixt ponta delgada, aéroport aux açores, j ai payé par avance 303 euros Arrivée à l agence je sors ma carte bleu visa pour la caution, on me l a refusé car ce n est pas une carte de crédit, hors en France si il s agit d une carte de crédit, la fille n a même pas essayé de passer la carte, L agent nous a dit que nous serions remboursé et ne nous a proposé aucune autre solution, nous avons proposé de payer la caution de 300 euros en espèce pour pouvoir avoir la voiture puisque notre visa a été refusé, elle n a rien voulu savoir, sachant qu ils allaient nous rembourser nous sommes allés louer une autre voiture plus cher ailleurs, toutes les autres agences de location acceptaient notre carte de crédit! Nous avons contacté expédia et Sixt ils refusent de nous rembourser disant que sur le contrat le carte de crédit était précisée et obligatoire pour la caution Je pense que le système d arnaque et bien rodé, un autre couple de français derrière nous avait le même problème, voilà comment l agence Sixt gagne de l argent : fuyez. Une ligne sur le contrat et il gagne 300 euros en toute impunité !

Arrived on location to be told there was an error and there s no car for us we are with a very upset screaming tired toddler running around all adjacent rentals trying to save the situation. Ended up saying 800$ more. Do not use at any cost.

Would give zero stars if I could. This business operates on scamming tourists. Avoid this at place costs. Upon arriving they told us the car we initially booked for ~70 euros was no longer available and that we needed to pay an extra 40 euros for the only car they had. We paid this begrudgingly because our time on the island was short. This is the first scam. On the second day we had a flat tire from a nail in road. There was no spare tire in the back of the car so we had no choice but to call SIXT and wait for a rescue vehicle. Luckily this happened in a populated part of the island but it could have just as easily occurred in a desolate part with no cell service and we would be stranded. We waited for the rescue vehicle only to learn SIXT sent them to the wrong location. This we were forced to wait another 1-2 hours for the vehicle to go to the correct address. More than half the day was wasted because of this whole ordeal. Once we were picked up we arrived at the airport and were assured we would not be charged for the flat tire as these things happen and this is out of our control. Upon leaving the island we received our normal bill and thought everything would be as the agent told us. However a week later we receive another bill for 300 euro claiming they were going to charge us for the flat tire. I have disputed this with SIXT and they are refusing to take any responsibility for any of these incidents. They scammed us with a forced upgrade, put us in danger by not providing a spare tire, and outright lied by stating we would not be charged. Stay away from this business at all costs.
Fraudulent company! Because my returning flight was departing very early I returned the car before opening hours of the counter (had to use a key drop box) and that turned out to be a big mistake. Even though after a few days I got a regular invoice, with no additional charges, one month later I was informed that new damage was discovered, a small scratch on the tire (!). Regardless of the fact that: 1. photos proving the alleged damage taken by a Sixt employee were blurred 2. the alleged scratch was very small, judging from the picture less than 5 cm long and Six in their rental contract ensures that scratches 0-5 cm are non chargeable and regardless of the fact that 3. I made several requests to get a sharp photo with a ruler attached, regardless of all that I was charged ridiculous 300 EUR for repair of the tire (whatever that meant) and got practically no response from Sixt other than automated replies. Avoid this company at all costs!
Avoid this location!!! We received a false claim of 300 euro on a tire crack two months after we returned the car. The crack was not caused by us! Per many customer reviews on Google, TripAdvisor and Expedia etc., customers reported that this car rental is a scam and money trap, and have been making up many false claims such as this tire crack claim. As of Jan 16, 2023, the complaints about false tire crack claims of this location is nearly 10% of the review. If you check other rental agents in Ponta Delgada, there is very little complaints about tire crack claims. For example, as of Jan 16, 2023, Europcar has only 4 complaints about tire crack issue out of 196 reviews, that is only 2%. Europcar charges 150 euro for tire crack whereas Sixt charges 300 euro!! Why the car tires of Sixt are so fragile and pro to cracks? The only answer is that it is a scam!!
I rented a Renault Megane for a week at the Ponta Delgada airport from SIXT that had >41,000 km on it and it had 18 previous scratches/dents. I took the recommended insurance coverage that was offered for an additional 180 euros on top of the rental cost. I added to the scratches while attempting to park the car next to an uneven stone wall. I returned the car assuming the insurance would cover the 10 centimeter scratch on the front passenger door. A week after returning the car I got an email stating that my credit card had been billed an additional 566 euros for the scratch. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE GUYS.

Réservation faite en mars, pour 9 jours. Dernier mail de confirmation pour dire de bien préparer nos documents. Malheureusement à notre arrivée, nous découvrons que cest sous traité à ilha verde. Sixt pico est visiblement juste Une boîte aux lettres. Ça ne serait pas grave en soit, mais en ce début août, comme par hasard il y a un problème avec notre réservation, et nous nous retrouvons sans voiture pour 9 jours sur pico avec deux enfants,... Et personne de joignable bien sûr!

Cancelaram a minha reserva para a Ilha do Pico de 19 a 26 de agosto no dia 14 de agosto, ou seja 5 dias antes da minha viagem. Uma reserva efetuada e paga desde 07 de julho. Com um simples email a dizer: Para as datas da sua reserva não teremos possibilidade de fornecer nenhuma alternativa para o seu aluguer, lamentamos desde já qualquer inconveniente causado por esta situação. O Serviço de apoio ao cliente desta empresa é incapaz de assumir responsabilidades e apresentar soluções para os problemas causados.

Sixt ma facturé un supplément de 135 alors que je nai rien demandé en massurant que le montant allait erte remboursé lors de la restitution du véhicule. Le montant na pas été remboursé échange de mail avec la société depuis 1 mois et ils ne veulent rien savoir... Jai jamais connu un service aussi mauvais
VOLEUR. Plus de 6 mois après avoir loué une voiture chez eux, ils nous réclament encore de largent suite à une sois disante évolution des taxes de leurs pays. Non mais dans quelle monde ils vivent ? nous navons plus rien à voir avec votre agence ou leur voiture qui a été reloué de nombreuse fois depuis, faites très attention, après avoir reçu le véhicule, faites des photos et envoyez les à lagence comme garantie, nous nous sommes fais avoir après avoir payé un supplément de +200 avec des justifications bancales. Impossible de vérifier car notre vol retour était avant louverture de leur agence à Ponta, nous avons du laissé le véhicule dans leurs parking sans avoir pu faire de remise en main propre.

Fiz a reserva do aluguer do veículo da Sixt (balcão do Aeroporto de São Miguel Açores) através do broker rentalcars.com. Ao levantar o veículo fui informado no balcão do Aeroporto de São Miguel que a franquia por danos próprios era de 2.600,00 e não 1.290,78 conforme contratualizado no processo de reserva que já estava pago na totalidade. Quando confrontado com este facto, o funcionário da Sixt do Aeroporto de Ponta Delgada não assumiu as condições da reserva e não havendo outra alternativa, efetuei o levantamento da viatura com base na documentação que me foi apresentada pela agência da Sixt onde consta a franquia de 2.600,00. Nessa noite enviei email para o apoio de cliente da Sixt formalizando esta situação e questionando sobre a responsabilidade por eventuais danos superiores aos 1.290,78 contratualizados na reserva. A Sixt respondeu prontamente informando que não são responsáveis por esta situação e que eu deveria responsabilizar o broker rentalcars.com. Não entendo como é que a Sixt recebe reservas de um parceiro que publicita e vende os seus serviços e não tem a mínima preocupação em 1) compreender o porquê da divergência entre os serviços reservados através do broker e a empresa que presta o serviço e 2) resolver a causa da divergência para que futuros clientes Sixt não se sintam enganados no momento do levantamento do veículo. O veículo foi-me entregue com o interior parcialmente sujo e apresentava pequenos danos na carroçaria que não foram identificados na inspeção da entrega (eventualmente por se considerar como não cobráveis ). No momento da entrega e com a pressão de fazer check-in para o voo, fui atendido pela colaboradora Carolina Silva que ao contrário do que é normal não inspecionou a carroçaria do carro que estava cheia de danos anteriores e focou-se exclusivamente no estado dos pneus durante bastante tempo até encontrar um pequeníssimo rasgo num dos quatro pneus. Prontamente me informou desta situação que não estava na ckeck-list de danos do veículo realizada durante a fase de entrega e preparava-se para iniciar o processo cobrança deste dano no pneu, quase impercetível e que em nada prejudica a segurança de quem circula no veículo. Felizmente no vídeo que efetuei aquando da entrega do veículo estava visível o pequeno dano no pneu, caso contrário teria que pagar por um dano que não tinha efetuado e não tinha como provar que ele já existia no momento da entrega do veículo. A sensação com que fiquei desta situação, foi que a colaboradora ao conhecer que os danos dos pneus não estavam incluídos nas coberturas do seguro, esteve minuciosamente procurando um motivo para poder cobrar uma quantia extra pelo aluguer do veículo. E esta situação deixou-me muito desiludido com a Sixt. Cuidado no aluguer de viaturas. Fazer um pequeno vídeo pode evitar custos adicionais de algumas centenas de euros.

I didnt make good experience with this company to be honest. They only accept credit card and not even cash! So lucky I found auto ilheu rent a car where everything was a lot easier!

Leider nicht zu empfehlen... Bei der Übernahme am Flughafen mussten wir 2 Schäden auf dem Übernahmeformular nachtragen lassen (zu den unzähligen, die schon am Fahrzeug vorhanden waren), der Mitarbeiter tat dies erst auf mehrmalige Hinweise und eher mürrisch. Über eine Woche nach Rückgabe meldete sich Sixt mit einem Schaden am Reifen, den wir verursacht haben sollen. Es wurde ein Bild, mit einem vertikalen Riss im Reifen zugesandt, wie der während der Fahrt entstanden sein soll, ist uns unklar. Wir hatten das Fahrzeug 1,5 Tage. Uns blieb nur die Zahlung des Schadens... Das nächste Mietfahrzeug holen wir uns dort sicher nicht...
Não dou zero porque não consigo. Reserva feita, cartão inserido no site, no local (Açores) a funcionária recusou usar o cartão de foi aceite no site, não tendo sequer tentado usar o cartão (cartão esse já usado na rent a car sixt anteriormente). Zerinho!
Péssima experiência, a evitar a qualquer custo. Reserva feita com antecedência online, com todos os dados devidamente preenchidos, e cartão introduzido e validado. No balcão no aeroporto de Ponta Delgada foi nos negado o serviço com a indicação de que o cartão não seria válido, algo que não faz sentido pois o mesmo já foi usado na mesma agência noutro balcão. Não percebo como nestes tempos mais difíceis, uma empresa de turismo recusa um serviço sem qualquer esforço para ajudar o cliente.

Alugámos um Golf branco, andámos pouco, mas o serviço da SIXT foi excelente. Todos prestáveis e simpáticos. Rapidez na receção e entrega do veículo. Nada a apontar. N
