Booked a car through avis website for 2 days. Flexible tariff with "anytime cancellation" In the morning I decided not to proceed. Nothing can be done through the site as it less then 2 hours before pickup time. Ok, I got to the train station to the office and cancelled the rental personally. Q: Will I be charged any penalties? A: We don't know exactly the website policies but you owe us nothing. Ok, next day 200EUR deposit is frozen, a week later 65 EUR are charged (the rest is back). Official email support haven't answered anything for a month. Got an invoice by mail today: rental for 0 minutes costs you 65 EUR (see attached) Ok Avis. Your are non-professional crooks with low quality customer support.
Our experience with this Avis location was one of our best. The staff were very helpful and courteous. We arrived early, not expecting our car to be ready but by the time we had finished the paperwork our car was on its way. They also upgraded to an automatic which was very much appreciated. A team member walked us to the carpark and waited with us for our car to arrive. When it was there he helped load our luggage into the back and made sure we were all set to go on our journey. The car could have done with a bit of a vacuum but this is a minor blemish on what was a welcome experience.
Budget agent (Daniel) in Porto train station added "optional" Roadside assistance (which I had declined when making reservation) without my approval (even when I asked what "Additional Products" charge was, he said additional driver only - the "RSN" was bundled with that, not itemized) and USD currency billing without my approval (adding 7% on the exchange rate). When returning the car in Lisbon airport, I asked the agent (Jose) to charge in Euros, but this request was apparently ignored. I reported both to customer service (immediately after returning car) and they refused to fix them, saying those were written in the 7-page contract (which I was expected to review on the computer screen during pick-up, while a line of people behind me waits). So apparently they are allowed to opt me in to anything and rely on me to "catch it" even when they verbally lie when questioned. Together these added ~$64 USD to my ~$400 cost. Also, I called the renting location ~30 times in last 3 weeks and they never answer.
We felt pressured by the front desk agent to upgrade our car. She was trying to upsell us many times during this transaction despite our refusal repeatedly. The agent at drop off was very pleasant and helpful. Previous damage to the car was not documented at all even though it was shown to us and brought to our attention at pick up. Thankfully we had taken pictures at pick up of all the previous damage and this was not an issue, however it could have been a big issue so take lots of pictures!!
I booked a car through a third-party site, and while that process was smooth, my experience with Avis in Porto was far from satisfactory. The pick-up took an hour due to limited staff, and I felt pressured into purchasing their insurance despite already being covered. What was more concerning was being asked to sign off on the car's damages without even seeing it. When I finally saw the car in a dimly lit parking garage, I was shocked. The car had a significant dent in the back, and upon closer inspection under better lighting, I found that almost every panel was damaged in some way. The car was also dirty, both inside and out. When I pointed out the major dent, the staff member merely suggested I take a photo of it. Thankfully, I photographed the entire car, which proved invaluable when I returned it in Lisbon. The staff there were thorough in checking for damages and were surprised that I was given a car in such poor condition. Had I not taken those photos, I could have been held responsible for the damages. In conclusion, I cannot recommend Avis in Porto. If you do decide to rent from them, ensure you photograph the entire car in a well-lit area to avoid potential disputes.
Rented from Avis at the train station outside Porto for a one-way, one-day drive and drop in Lisbon. The rental office in Porto was convenient, the clerk was very helpful, informative, and professional. The other staff were also very helpful. And the online rental options were easy to change.
This is my favorite place to rent a car when in Porto. Very convenient location, 24/7 drop-off at the parking with a key return box on the station. Cars are always clean and with a full tank, reliable and ready to go. But the most important part for me is communication with the staff. They are always friendly, helpful and attentive to details. Pleasure to do business with Avis at Campanha.
We rented a Car here. They told us, the car is new and has no damages. After we drove a while and got out of the car we saw a Damage under the Door.It was definitely there before.I contacted the Office and they told me, that it was not my fault and they are not gonna Charge me for that. Today I brought the Car back in Lagos and they want to charge me full for the damage. It is fraud!! So please be carful!
Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiterin und Mitarbeiter. Auf dem Bildschirm werden die wesentlichen Vertragsinhalte gezeigt und erklärt. Auf die Option von zusätzlichen Versicherungen wird höflich hingewiesen. Wegen bereits bestehender Absicherung über einen der gängigen Anbieter haben wir diese Anfrage abgelehnt. Rückgabe war unkompliziert und geschäftsüblich.

Achtung! Die so freundliche Dame am Schalter, wollte uns eine weitere Versicherung verkaufen. Bei Nachfrage in unserem Reisebüro wurde uns gesagt, dass wir keine benötigen, da wir alles bei ihnen gebucht haben. Für die Frau vor Ort war dies sehr schwer zu verstehen, aus Frust wurden uns dann dafür gleich noch ein paar Extras auf die Rechnung geklatscht. Zufällig bekam ich dann noch mit, wie es dem Paar hinter uns genau gleich erging.
Des voleurs stratagème bien rôdé, état des lieux de prise du véhicule fait à la va vite et au retour un agent chargé de détecter tous les micro détails essaie de vous soutirer de l argent. Vraiment toujours les même magouilles chez Avis. Ils détestent leurs clients dommage qu il n y ait pas d autres loueurs dans cette gare !
Vriendelijke en behulpzame baliemedewerkster, snelle afwikkeling, en geen upselling (behalve de e-toll, die ik zelf wel fijn vind). De auto stond voor het station klaar en de handige sleutelservice zorgde ervoor dat we de auto s avonds al konden terugbrengen toen het ons het beste uitkwam. Afhandeling moet nog plaatsvinden, maar ik verwacht dat dit ook smooth gaat.
Ich kann mich den letzten negativen Rezensionen leider nur anschließen. Wir haben 10 Tage einen Mietwagen an der Station in Porto ausgeliehen. Beim Vertrag mit/über Check24 war die Gebühr für Fahrer unter 25 Jahre bereits inklusive. Diese wurde uns an der Station aber nochmal berechnet. Außerdem wurde uns fälschlicherweise ein zusätzlicher Fahrer berechnet, obwohl es den NICHT gab. Heißt es kamen fälschlicherweise 149,10 oben drauf. Ich habe die Dame am Schalter darauf hingewiesen. Ihr zufolge soll ich die 79,70 für die Gebühr für einen Fahrer unter 25 Jahre bei Check24 reklamieren und die 69,40 für einen zusätzlichen Fahrer hatte sie mir versichert, werden sie NICHT abziehen. Nun wurde mir jedoch alles abgezogen und sie hat ihr Wort nicht gehalten. Wenn ich mir die anderen Rezensionen ansehe, scheint das Masche zu sein und hier dem Kunden so viel wie möglich angedreht zu werden sehr schade, absolute Warnung für diese Autovermietung unter diesen Umständen!
Aluguei um carro na Avis de Campanha dia 15 de julho por 24 horas e na altura da informação disseram que era 230 euros e cobraram 430 euros do meu cartão, espero que me resolvam o problema num espaço de 3 meses, se isso não acontecer, vou por outros meios, nomeadamente a polícia, e farei uma participação.
Soyez sur vos gardes. Hôtesse agréable au premier abord mais qui a voulu nous vendre tout et nimporte quoi. Même en répétant non 20 fois, elle nous a tout de même surclassé en véhicule, vendu du télépéage inutile, des informations malhonnêtes simplement pour nous persuadé que nous allions en avoir besoin ect. Franchement même un vendeur de tapis au marché est moins chiant, très irrespectueux pour le client. Nous avons donc fait un recours pour le surclassement de voiture qui était abusif. Sachant que la voiture était déjà prête au moment ou lon est rentré, je pense donc que lhôtesse a voulu nous vendre un surclassement seulement car la voiture de base nétait pas disponible. Pour le télépéage, eh bien comme nous avions prévu nous nen avions absolument pas eu besoin contrairement à ce que lhôtesse nous a assurait à maintes reprises. Voilà, le genre de personnes malhonnêtes et fatiguantes que tu ne veux pas croiser en vacance. Bon point : la remise de la voiture a laéroport de Porto sest extrêmement bien passé. Logo na estação, facilita muito. Fomos bem atendidos, vimos os carros e ficamos com o nivus europeu. Lembrando que passamos por lugares muito estreitos em toda Portugal. O preço da diária fica salgado na SUVs automáticas, 70 euros é muito.

Nur ein Schalter besetzt, der auch noch gemeinsam von Avis und Budget genutzt wird - und das am Fernbahnhof von Porto. Dementsprechend lang war die Schlange, wir haben fast 45 Minuten gewartet. Das ist völlig unzumutbar!
Nehmt andere Anbieter!! Nach einer Panne des Fahrzeugs, wurde das Auto nach 3 Stunden abgeholt, ich nach weiteren 2,5 Stunden. Sie lassen Euch einfach bei 37 Grad in der Sonne auf der Strasse stehen!!! Dehydriert und natürlich aggressiv, zurück bei denen im Büro bekam ich nicht mal Wasser zu trinken!! Natürlich musst du dich nach dem 6 Stunden Überlebenskampf dann hinten anstellen! Menschenverachtende Vorgehensweise!!

Scelgo spesso Avis sia per lavoro che per vacanze, questa volta mi sono trovato davvero male. Lauto era Ok e tutto il resto è andato bene, se non fosse che hanno provato in tutti i modi a inserire prodotti aggiuntivi non richiesti, Ho dovuto far rifare il contratto per ben 3 volte e alla fine con una menzogna, che ho scoperto essere tale solo alla riconsegna, mi hanno addebitato un assicurazione aggiuntiva spacciandomela per il noleggio del VIA VERDE. operatori Truffatori

The car s airco breaks down while the temperatures are 42 degrees Celsius and above. They refuse to send road assistance but ask to bring it back to a local AVIS office. ( + 150 km and 2 hours one way drive !!! ) NEVER again.
L agence se trouve à l intérieur de la gare sur le quai. J appréhendais cette location car les commentaires n étaient pas très élogieux. Malgré une forte affluence, la prise en charge fut rapide. Contrat revérifié et expliqué par le loueur. La commande a été respectée au tarif payé sur internet. Surclassement sur la voiture, un petit plus non négligeable. Le personnel est accueillant, sympathique, respectueux et explique bien les conditions. Les horaires d ouverture sont bien mentionnées sur la porte d entrée.

They deceive people. They mislead people with the reservation price and on the day of picking up the car they make them sign on a white screen and take double or triple the amount from the account without informing the customer of the price change! They dont show the contract and take the amount they want from the account. Terrible!
Esperienza positiva! Volevo visitare la valle del Douro e lagenzia Avis era quella piú idonea alla mia scelta, nonostante alcune recensioni negative. Ho prenotato una 500 e mi é stata data una peugeot 108 allo stesso prezzo(pazienza..).Ho fatto lestensione dellassicurazione per copertura danni totole con un supplemento di 23 /gg e aggiunto il dispositivo viaverde per il pagamento elettronico del pedaggio autostradale a 1,90 /gg. Il contratto viene firmato in formato digitale e inviato in tempo reale sulla mail del cliente in 2 lingue: portoghese e lingua prescelta in base alla nazionalità. Tutti i diffetti presenti sullauto sono annotati sul contratto. Al momento della consegna della vettura (garage sotto la stazione) lincaricato spiega tutto il necessario verificando il contratto stipulato. Automobile con qualche lieve danno di carrozzeria, ca.30.000km, pulizia interna ok. Tempo disbrigo pratica:ca.45 min (forse unpo lento...ma é giusto spiegare e controllare ogni passaggio). 0 sorprese alla consegna della vettura, anche se ho riconsegnato dopo lorario di chiusura (h20.30). Attenzione,controllare orario di apertura!!(lunedi - venerdi) Lo consiglio per chi arriva a Porto in treno e deve spostarsi usando lauto.

O melhor atendimento que já tive foi com a senhora Cristiane na loja da estação Campanha. Recomendo fortemente levantarem sua viatura neste local.
Slechte service. Bijna 1 uur buiten moeten wachten zonder uitleg. Eenmaal binnen onvriendelijke ontvangst, maar wel je proberen te verleiden tot het afsluiten van allerlei extra opties t.o.v. de reservering. Overdracht van de auto in een zéér donkere parkeergarage. Beschadigingen werden niet op een formulier opgetekend. Op eigen verzoek de auto buiten bij daglicht geïnspecteerd en diverse beschadigingen met fotos vastgelegd. Niet eerder zon amateuristische ervaring meegemaakt. Aflevering auto in Lissabon 2 weken later verliep overigens wel erg vlot.

Servizio ottimo. Avevamo prenotato la macchina online prima di arrivare in Portogallo. Il signore allo sportello dellaeroporto ci ha chiamato il servizio navetta che ci ha accompagnato al deposito li vicino. Ci hanno consegnato una Ford Puma quasi nuova, pulita e perfetta, con cui abbiamo viaggiato senza alcun problema per qualche giorno, arrivando fino all Algarve. Abbiamo preso lauto il lunedì alle 15 e labbiamo riconsegnata il sabato più o meno alla stessa ora. Abbiamo pagato 302 euro perché il mio compagno per sicurezza ha voluto stipulare la casco. altrimenti sarebbe costata la metà circa. All arrivo ci hanno riaccompagnato all aeroporto. Tengo a precisare una cosa.. ci avevano proposto di noleggiare insieme all auto anche il telepass per lautostrada che noi non abbiamo voluto. Però a questo proposito voglio farvi presente che purtroppo in Portogallo ci sono delle autostrade private ( soprattutto nella zona dell Algarve) , dove non si può pagare il pedaggio al casello, ma quando si entra il bip fotografa il vs. numero di targa, dopo diche se non avete il telepass ( o in alternativa si può comprare una carta verde , mi pare si chiami così, ricaricabile, ma di quanto la si ricarica?) dovete recarvi alle poste CTT, a pagare il pedaggio. (tra laltro le poste CTT sono chiuse sabato e domenica tutto il giorno) Il problema sorge quando siete alla fine della vacanza, perché prima che arrivi lammontare da pagare, in posta lo visualizzano con il numero di targa, ci vogliono alcuni giorni. Quindi se voi avete preso lautostrada oggi e domani partite... Noi abbiamo avuto fortuna forse, lo vedremo con il tempo. perché ci siamo recati alla posta e datogli il numero di targa due giorni dopo, non visualizzavano ancora limporto, quindi l addetto allo sportello ci ha rilasciato una carta che ci esonerava dal pagare, adesso vedremo con il tempo se sarà vero, se non arriva la multa a casa, perché facendo parte dell Unione Europea non si scappa. In ogni caso per il pedaggio si hanno 5 giorni di tempo per pagare. Questa purtroppo è lunica scocciatura del Portogallo, anche perché in posta cè molta gente e quindi bisogna fare la fila . Quindi valutate se magari è il caso di noleggiare appunto questo telepass.

Uns wurden unnötige Extras untergeschoben, die die Miete unnötig verteuert haben. Hatten vorher im Internet die Preise recherchiert, für eine Internetbuchung war es aber zu spät und die Konkurrenz von Europcar, die ebenfalls im Bahnhof ein Büro haben, hatten kein Fahrzeug mehr. Vollkasko ohne Selbstbeteiligung war zwar abgesprochen. Erst hinterher war zu erkennen, dass der hohe Preis nicht dadurch hervorgerufen wurde, sondern durch weitere unnötige Extras wie erweiterte Insassenunfallversicherung und Windschutzscheibenschutz.
Went to drop off car. Agency closes for lunch but was supposed to re-open at 3pm. 3:30pm and still no one had shown up to reopen the place. We were able to drop our key and leave the car parked in the garage but there was a long line of people waiting to pick up their cars who were all SOL. Avoid.
Avoid if you can. Car booked at 9.00 am. So slow service. One client in 30 minutes. Then they took care of someone who arrived after everyone and was speaking Portuguese... The service was horrible.
the office manager did great job,though i can not understand why they rent 9 seats cars without normal air conditioning ( works well only in the front of the car) in Portugal. we got toyota, then changed to mercedes vito and both had the same problem, driving in 32 C heat withouth proper air conditioning is quite a challenge
Não consegui ser atendido conforme planejado. Alugamos o carro pela web e ao passar o cartão na loja o mesmo não passou mesmo tendo limite e depois tendo passado no concorrente. O atendimento grosseiro da atendente não condiz com o preço pago. Um outro rapaz até foi mais simpático mas de qualquer forma perdemos 2 horas e tive que replanejar minha lua de mel. Para completar só tinham dois atendendo e estavam sempre tendo que levar o cliente aonde estão os carros. Espete uma fila bem longa.

attention aux sourires charmeurs des hôtesses. elles me proposent de prendre un diesel avec supplément au lieu dune essence réservée sur internet. après avoir refusé, comme par hasard jai un diesel sans aucun supplément. elles insistent sur les assurances complémentaires. elles ajoutent le telepeage avec des explications limites. cest limite de larnaque tout cela. que fait la direction davis. ils méritent mieux.
Voiture louée avec un GPS déchargé ( 30% ) avec une mauvaise liaison électrique 1/2 journée de perdue : aide apportée peu énergique . .... un essuie glace arrière monté en sens inverse On peut douter des contrôles effectués par Avis Porto avant mise à disposition de la voiture

Attention voleurs, alors quils vous mettent en confiance! Le 17 août nous avons loué une voiture à lagence pour une journée. Le loueur nous dit que nous pouvions rapporter la voiture après lheure de fermeture en deposant la clé dans leur boite aux lettres. Mais surprise à notre retour en Belgique, nous constatons que nous avons été facturés une journée supplémentaire ! Belle image dAvis! et service après- vente nul... :-/

A absolument éviter !!! 1 er règlement fais sur internet pour 5jours de location réalisé 2jours avant le jour J. Le jour J on nous fais payer 250 ( rachat de franchise blabla avec une partie NORMALEMENT remboursable. A notre retour arrivé quelques heures en retard ( sachant que je devrais payer léquivalent dune journée en plus donc 40 ... Ok!) On me demande une première fois 460 ... Après vérification demandé on me demande en fin de compte 500 ... Que je refuse évidemment de régler !! Retour en France, la fin de la transaction devait se faire dans les prochains jours... Après 1 mois sans aucun signes de vie on vient de me prélever 59 ! Sans aucune raison! DES VOLEURS ! A ÉVITER !! Souvenirs amère du Portugal... magnifique pays , dommage que ce genre de société existe et gâche les vacances de beaucoup de personnes !
Attention mal honnête pour ne pas dire voleur , à notre retour de location un dimanche sous la pluie début octobre 2019 , la Facture est faite dans les 5 minutes aprés notre arrivée ( alors quil à fallu 45 minutes pour faire les papiers de réservation deux jours avant malgré une réservation par Internet ) 30 minutes aprés notre départ de lagence je maperçois dun oubli dans la voiture ...( ma pochette avec tous mes papiers ; permis ,carte de credit , argent espéces , chequier ect..) De retour à lagence la voiture était partie ,relouée .. Margré larticle 18 du contrat qui stipule le rendu de tous objet oublié ( RIEN) Fin de notre voyage à la police et au consulate de France ..pour pouvoir rentrer en France Aprés 22 jours dattente de lenquête menée par le service réclamation davis.... Voici la réponse;

Office is located on the westernmost train platform just above the main entrance. Small, but was efficient. Car return is located confusingly in the underground parking below the station - enter at the main entrance on the left side of the station, just above the traffic circle. We went down 2 floors and happened to find an employee to return the keys to - but its very informal. We were warned that theres a long lunch break between 1:00 - 3:00, so avoid those times. Definitely get the Via Verde electronic pass - all highways are tolled, most are electronic only.

El precio fue un engaño. Hice una reserva por internet por 137 euros por 4 dias. Al llegar a recoger el carro a la agencia me dijeron que el nuevo precio incluyendo los seguros era de 362 euros, pero al devolverlo me entere que el precio verdadero era de 362 euros ademas de los 137 que ya habia pagado por internet, o sea, 499 euros, cosa que nadie me aclaro en el momento de recoger el carro. Si hubiera sabido que ese iba a ser el precio real hubiera buscado otras opciones. Una semana antes yo habia alquilado un carro mucho mejor en otra agencia, un Audi A4 nuevo con GPS incluido, por un precio casi igual. El carro que me dieron en AVIS fue un Toyota Auris hibrido, que por cierto estaba bastante sucio por fuera, con unos cuantos arañazos en la carroceria y sin GPS activado. En el momento de recoger el carro habiamos preguntado si tenia GPS y nos dijeron que si. En eso tambien nos engañaron. Luego de quejarme, me hicieron una pequeña rebaja de 34 dolares, ademas de la devolucion que corresponde por entregarlo con el tanque de gasolina lleno. Conclusion, termine pagando 100 euros diarios por un carro de baja categoria, sucio, arañado y sin GPS, en vez de 34 diarios que era lo que ofrecia el sitio web. Definitivamente el engaño parece ser politica corporativa de AVIS porque en el documento del contrato, el precio total, en vez de aparecer en la ultima linea como es habitual, aparece dos lineas mas arriba, para luego restarle el dinero que ya fue cobrado al hacer la reserva y asi mostrar en la ultima linea solo el precio que falta por pagar, en vez del precio total. Decir las verdades a medias es lo mismo que mentir. No hay etica.

Lazy and Rude Staff. A terrible experience. I was supposed to collect my car at 1 pm today. Unfortunately I have not been able to do so, because when we arrived at the office we found that it was closed for lunch - for two hours!!!!! There was a contact number to call when the office is closed, so I called it. The lady I spoke to was extremely offhand and unhelpful. Her attitude was that it was our fault for turning up during their long lunch break. She refused to send someone to give us the key and refused to allow me to speak to the manager. All she would say is that we would have to wait until they returned at 3 pm. So the afternoon of our precious time abroad has been spent in a waiting room, with nothing to do but wait for the Avis staff to come back from their extended lunch break. I appreciate that things are done differently in other countries, but I think it unacceptable for the office to be entirely closed for two hours during the middle of a working day, particularly when that office is part of a global brand such as Avis. If the office must be closed, I do not understand why it is not possible for someone to come and help a customer with a reservation.

Quand nous sommes allé chercher la voiture, on nous a proposé lassurance, mon compagnon a dit oui. On nous a rien dit de plus, pas dexplications, pas de proposition de tel ou tel niveau dassurances et tarifs. Nous avions payé dans les 300 pour la location. Au retour de notre séjour on nous en a demandé 300 de plus.. pour lassurance. UNE GROSSE ARNAQUE dont ils ont sûrement pleinement conscience. On pouvais pas être mieux couvert, mais on avait jamais voulu ce type dassurance. Evidemment, on pouvait plus rien y faire. Et quand je vois les avis, jai envie de vous dire : A EVITER ABSOLUMENT ! Et merci AVIS davoir gâché la fin de notre séjour.
Superb experience. Very good service , counter staff were quick ,effecient and pleasent. Car was as resereved -- clean and brought up to station entrance. All charges and options and queries were explained patiently. Return too was an equally effecient and pleasent experience. Well done team Avis!
I am surprised at the number of poor reviews here as my own experience with this office was fine. The only advice I would add is to check the T&C of your booking and that it can be much cheaper to buy insurance online to cover the 1300 excess than to buy it from Avis.
Foi-me dado um orçamento para uma carrinha comercial por e-mail. Quando cheguei ao aeroporto do Porto, foi-me pedido mais 500 pelo aluguer pretendido. Disseram que houve um lapso interno, mas não assumiram a diferença. Muito mau.

Horrible. I booked a car through their website and it was pretty reasonably priced. However, by the time I got there, price had almost doubled. DONT GO HERE!! They will rip you off.
