Rented a car from Lisbon to Porto and dropped it off yesterday. The day after dropping off my rental, I received an email that I would be charged over $1,000 for damage to the windshield. Fake damage. The email said I was informed of the damage when I dropped it off. To the contrary, the attendant said “everything is ok.” I had purchased insurance to cover it everything but tires. Email say windshield is not covered. Never renting from Sixt again.
I rented a car with Sixt for 5 days in Portugal. I rented at Avenida de Boavista location, I took the whole coverage and went from Porto to Lisbon and back. The whole experience was very satisfactory. The staff is professional and supportive. They explain everything and are not intrusive. The final cost which included tolls was as expected and without unpleasant surprises. The only small suggestion would be to inform customers about specific way the highway tolls are costed. It is an almost entirely electronic system, your car is fitted with transponder which calculates the fees and they are eventually deducted from your card deposit. People that are not familiar with this could get confused. The thing to know is that you can use the "green line" and do not need to stop at other terminals. I highly recommend.
Our experience renting a car from Sixt was okay. We initially did the booking through booking.com. The check in process was smooth and we did not have any major problems. The guy at the reception did try to sell us the full coverage insurance which was an additional €145 approximately, but we kept the basic insurance and it worked out fine.
SCAMMERS! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Sixt in Porto. When I picked up the car, I noticed some minor damage and asked if it needed to be recorded. The staff reassured me that it didn’t, claiming it was already accounted for. Trusting their professionalism, I took their word for it. Fast forward to the return: I was shocked to receive a charge of €500 for the same damage they told me not to worry about. To make matters worse, they denied me any proof of the alleged issue and ignored my subsequent attempts to resolve the matter. This experience felt like a blatant scam. I trusted their guidance, only to be penalized later without transparency or accountability. I strongly urge others to be extremely cautious when dealing with Sixt Porto. Document every detail yourself, no matter what their staff says.
This was the worst car rental experience I’ve had in all of Europe. Most of the negative reviews are justified, but I thought it couldn’t happen to me. I rented a Dacia Sandero (AV-33-QE) in Lisbon, with drop-off in Porto. At pick-up, the Sixt agent told me I needed to pay a €1,500 deposit instead of the €300 stated in the confirmation email and on their website (for a basic fare). This is nothing but a lie; €1,500 is actually the amount for damages not covered by their basic insurance. Customer service confirmed the next day that the deposit should indeed have been €300. Given the lies and the shady nature of the agency, I decided at the last minute to pay double and add full insurance. The car was handed over with existing damage, but none of it was mentioned in the report provided by Sixt at pick-up. Since I was in a hurry and there was a long queue of waiting customers, I didn’t address the missing damage report on the spot but instead documented all damages with photos and videos. At drop-off in Porto, I was unpleasantly surprised to find all the damages on the car attributed to me, despite showing the agent photos taken right outside the Sixt Lisbon office. The insurance likely saved me from an additional charge. In short, this agency is to be avoided. They are not trustworthy, operate as a Sixt franchise, and the experience is even worse than with Sixt Italy (also a franchise) and far below the standard of Sixt Spain or Germany (where you rent directly from Sixt). - they lie about the deposit. - they charge customers for damages they did not cause. PS: No AI-generated reply is needed for this review, Sixt.

Trying to charge for a scratch under the bumper that we did not do. Wanting £300 for a tiny scratch ridiculous considering cost of living in Portugal. After reading other reviews this seems common. Do not recommend Porto Sixt avoid at all costs.

Car was fine but they try to overcharge you. Told us 145 one time fee for leaving Portugal then when we said we saw a different rate online, charged us 65. It s 45 at SurPrice rental. Told us not to fill the tank since they charge 1.6 which is better rate. But charges for a full tank regardless of how much gas is left. It s in fine print later. They upsold us on a car that s supposed to be better on fuel but was worse. Overall very unpleasant rental experience.

Serviço de retirada foi muito bom, tirando a demora no balcão, me explicaram tudo, falaram sobre a tolerância no atraso. Agora a entrega do veículo é uma tristeza, funcionário suposto gerente de nome José, nao informou sobre cobranças extras e muito menos explicou que iria cobrar uma diária pelo atraso de uma hora, ou seja eles atrasaram uma hora e quarenta minutos para me entregar o veículo e quiseram me cobrar por eu ter devolvido o carro com o mesmo atraso. Sem contar que cobraram sem avisar, não me avisaram nada. Não me falaram nada, simplesmente cobraram. Atendimento pessimo na devolução e no pós venda. Pensando seriamente se eu voltaria a alugar com eles. Quando aluguel pela booking não tive problemas, agora alugando direto com eles, foi deplorável o atendimento recebido na entrega do veículo.

I delivered the car with a full tank yet they put 7/8 and charged me a whole day since I delayed the delivery by an hour due their terrible location in Porto. They charged me 60 for the fueling services The rental ended up being extremely expensive and that s how they profit from you.

Les mots me manquent face à un tel manque de professionnalisme et dempathie de la part de la personne qui nous a reçu. Javais réservé un van pour le 2/10 à partir de 9h30, jusquau lendemain matin même heure, avec 2 sièges enfant. Arrivé sur place à 9h35, on me demande dattendre 5 minutes que le véhicule soit prêt. Pourquoi pas, ça peut arriver. Jai été obligé de redemander les sièges auto (cétait stipulé dans ma réservation que javais déjà payée en ligne). Sauf que, les 5 minutes se sont transformées en 1h30. Le monsieur qui nassumait pas, à préféré aller se cacher dans le garage à larrière de lagence. Aucune explication, aucune communication. Il a par contre très bien su demander lempreinte de la carte pour les 500 de caution. Lorsquil nous demande enfin daller dans le garage derrière lagence, pour chercher le véhicule, surprise, le véhicule nest pas là. En fait, le véhicule était dans une autre agence et pas encore sur place. Donc attente encore de 15 minutes. A larrivée du véhicule, pas de siège auto.. Il a fallu les demander (encore). Départ de lagence : 11h15, au lieu de 9h30(allez, 10h vu que je suis arrivé avec un peu de retard). Résultat, le programme que javais prévu sur la journée est tombé à leau. Dommage, cétait notre dernier jour au Portugal. Il serait bien que cette agence fasse en sorte que les véhicules soient prêts à larrivée de la personne qui en a fait la réservation et qui a déjà payé. Aucune réduction proposée, pas de geste commercial. Fuyez cette agence.
I booked a 7-seater Dacia Jogger from Sixt for a day trip, but five hours after reserving, I was informed it was unavailable. They offered a 9-seater Mercedes Vito instead, which seemed to cost only slightly more. However, when I arrived to pick it up, the agent insisted I hadn t selected any insurance despite my initial choice of a protection package. They claimed the Vito was significantly more expensive without insurance, and after long discussions, they found a 7-seater Peugeot but insisted I take an overpriced insurance package for it. I ended up paying for the 9-seater, since both options would cost roughly the same after additional fees. When I asked about an airport return, the employee said it was possible but failed to mention an extra 10 fee, which I only found out about after emailing the reservations team. The lack of transparency was compounded by an email error: the agent had entered my name incorrectly, meaning I didn t receive any of the contract terms in advance. In summary, Sixt provided unreliable availability information, pushed upselling tactics, and withheld key information, leading to unexpected charges and frustration.

Let me start by highlighting that I make a point of not writing bad reviews. Check my profile, all either positive or raving. I have always felt sure the best thing to do with a complaint is take it direct and give chances to rectify. I used this sixt office for three years, I don t own a car it doesn t make sense in Porto so you can imagine many rentals and much money has been spent. Mostly it s been good, if at the higher end of the market, which I ve been willing to pay for reliability. I ve in fact left a bunch of their office agents positive reviews on Google at their request because I guess they have incentives on this stuff. Yesterday my partner rented a car with a newborn baby car seat to bring our newborn from the hospital and triple checked at the office it was the correct one. The car rental is literally just for this purpose. After 5 days in hospital, Lo and behold, we cannot leave. When we removed the car seat from the packaging they provide it in, it was missing a piece to bolster for new borns. I tried to contact them and was held at a central office with no hope of speaking to the Porto city centre office agents. The central res office said essentially it was not their problem because sixt uses a third party agency for the car seats they provide. When I highlighted we had a contract with sixt and they had a contract with the third party and thus this was indeed their problem to rectify, the agent simply insisted I had to go through the email complaint procedure to contact the relevant office (for a car rental due to return tomorrow) and then hung up on me. Had a reservation booked with them over Christmas which I ll be cancelling and would say that the sheer level of zero Fs given in this situation when I ve treated their team with so much respect and loyalty in the past is pretty immoral.

Just terrible. The whole experience is messy and poor. It took me 1 hour and a half to get the car. While there was a huge line of people on the outside waiting, the staff (2 people) pretended to don t see what is happening. It is definitely worth paying a bit more and getting the car somewhere else.

Unbelievable, I read the reviews of them faking damage to make money when you return a car here but didn t believe it. Turns out it s true. I returned my car two days ago and it had NO NEW DAMAGE, the guy looked at the car and told me all was good. My original car rental amount was charged. Now, two days later, I received an email that new damage was reported to the car I rented. It s a complete scam and I have pictures and will fully fight them with my credit card and in court if I have to! STAY AWAY!

Customer Review for Sixt Car Rental in Porto and Faro: My experience with Sixt has been nothing short of a nightmare. They charged me for damage to the bumper spoiler that was clearly there before I rented the vehicle. Although the bumper grill damage was noted in the rental agreement (see picture), they now claim the spoiler was separately damaged an absurd distinction that anyone without technical knowledge wouldnt notice. Even more outrageous is that I was never informed of the damage cost, yet Sixt tried to charge my credit card twice without any prior notification! This is completely unacceptable and feels like fraud. Be warned: Sixt seems to have no problem attempting to take money from customers for pre-existing damage.

Had a terrible experience with Sixt rent a car. My friend and I rented two vehicles from Lisbon and drove up the coast to Porto. Upon returning the vehicles in Porto at this location, an employee brought a scratch to our attention on my friends vehicle. A scratch that he for sure did not put there, but was also not in their records (the scratch was so small that we didnt even notice it upon pickup). They sent the scratch to their damages department and he was charged over $300 for damages that he never put on the vehicle. We also both put roughtly $300 as a deposit on the vehicles, which we were told were suppossed to cover any toll fees. After being returned some of our deposit back, we were charged another $27 for tolls that they said they missed. I am never renting from this company again after this experience.

Reservamos una silla de bebé y por email la compañía nos aseguró que se podían poner de espaldas y eran isofix, al llegar ninguno de las sillas disponibles tenían isofix o se podían poner de espaldas. Esto es algo fácil de solucionar por parte de la compañía, se paga por el asiento del niño y debería de ser algo seguro. Muy descontenta con esto, me parece un fallo importante en la seguridad por parte de la compañía.

I have been renting from Sixt for many years and always have a good experience. However, the rental has not been repeated. Vehicle with 89,000 km, inadequate functioning of the air conditioning and one of the people who assisted us was somewhat unpleasant.

Hanno provato a farci aggiungere un pacchetto assicurazione anche se già ce lo avevamo e quello in più non era necessario, chiedendo ulteriori spiegazioni in merito sono stato vaghi e laddetto messo di fronte alla coda ci ha risposto infine I dont know. Alla restituzione ci hanno consegnato una ricevuta poco chiara con i costi aggiuntivi di telepass e tassa di sola andata, abbiamo riconsegnato la macchina con il pieno e nonostante ciò ci hanno addebitato il costo di un pieno

O serviço de pós-venda é terrível. Enviaram-me um e-mail a respeito da cobrança das portagens de um valor ridiculamente baixo e não consigo pagar de jeito nenhum porque agora pararam de me responder. Disseram que preciso contatar outra empresa, que não responde aos meus emails, para efetuar o pagamento e agora se eximem de ajudar com essa cobrança. É ridículo que cobrem 30 pela ativação do Via Verde e depois criem dificuldade para pagar as portagens de 3 e alguns centavos.
We rented a car for one day to go to the Douro valley. We picked up at the city office and returned the same day at the airport. Upon return everything was fine, we got a clean report. But after three days, they charged us 40 euro and 300 euro at our credit card. No communication, no explanation.

Very bad rental experience. The car itself was great but the service was not. I rented a car in Lisbon, returned in Porto. Upon car return I was informed that one of the damages I have inspected with a Sixt employee upon pickup (the biggest) was not registered in the system. After two months of complaints and waiting for the decision from the car damage department I was informed again that I am to be charged for the damage, which I saw upon pickup. Lose of money and nerves. The car damage department did nothing to try to establish the source of the damage and have not tried to go the documents itself. The staff at Porto was quite professional, but in a way to calm you down on the spot - not to try to resolve anything. They said they cannot call Sixt Lisbon, they cannot show me which damages are in the system cause it is internal information. Looks like its a bunch of separate local agents not a serious company that wants to care for their clients. It was my second time using Sixt and my last one. And a very expensive lesson learned.

In Porto versteckt sich die Firma Sixt hinter dem Synonym Flizzr...ich bin am 15.06.24 in Porto gelandet...der Flieger hatte 30 min Verspätung...da ich bei der Buchung die Flugnummer angegeben habe, dachte ich mir das wird schon passen...ausserdem habe ich bei der Onlinesuche bei Check24 den Filter im Terminal aktiviert...bei Ankunft stellte ich fest, dass es sich um einen Shuttleservice handelte...niemand von den ganzen Shuttlefahrer kannte Flizzr, wie auf der Buchung von Check24 vermerkt war...also hat eine portugiesische Kollegin dort angerufen...Anrufbeantworter: sie haben geschlossen ..also bin ich wohl oder übel ins Hotel nach Porto...nächsten Tag direkt zum Vermieter und oh Wunder, es war Sixt...der nette Herr Oliveira entschuldigte sich und sagte, dass er von der Flugverspätung wusste...und hat nix gemacht...zum Dank habe ich das Auto einen Tag kürzer für den doppelten Preis erhalten...meine Beschwerde an Check 24 ist raus...meine dringendste Empfehlung: meiden sie dieses Unternehmen (sixt oder synonym flizzr)...somit ersparen sie sich sehr viel Ärger
I had rented through Uber for a month rental in Isle Verde, Puerto Rico. When I got there, I was told my full coverage insurance was not going to be enough coverage and they wanted $600 additional *insurance* for the month. I walked away.

I had read a lot of the bad reviews, and was really stressed by this as I had already booked the car. All I will say, that was not my experience. I checked everything for scratches and took photos before hand, and they even showed me where the pre-existing scratches were on the car (normal for any rental). I dropped it back at the airport within minutes, and they showed me the document and emailed me a summary already. A, you should always take out insurance if you want to be full proof B, using something like American Express Gold to pay with will protect you in most instances Sixt were very professional, and I would use them again. That has also been the experience of most of my friends when I spoke to them afterwards.
Worst experience. Take 1 hour to have the car. The guy at the front desk wanted us to add many thinks (many extra). Charge us for some damage under the car. I didnt gave enough proof to get a refund

Pior estabelecimento para aluguel de carros! Primeiro, reservamos um carro melhor, e trocaram por um maior, porém muito inferior em questão de qualidade do veículo. Fora que o atendente errou e passou o depósito de garantia diaaa vezes. Passado isso, retornamos o carro após os dias reservados e duas semanas depois, estão tentando cobrar 1000 absolutamente do nado! Já ligamos a central, ninguém nos ajuda, dizem que não tem nada pendente, mas vivem tentando cobrar da nossa conta esse valor, já foram pelo menos 3 tentativas fraudulentas!! Melhor andar de autocarro, do que deixar seus dados com essa empresa!
Rental from this location in downtown Porto was a breeze! Pick up was easy, Tiago was incredibly efficient and patient. Gave us all the information we required and answered all our queries. We got a sleek, new Mercedes, and the car definitely met our expectations. What really impressed us was the attendant who handed the car to us, we have rented from Sixt all over Europe, this is the first time someone bothered to go through the car with us, functions, how to set GPS, how to work lights, brakes, wipers, gas top-up etc. Even gave us the easiest route to get on the highway. Car return was equally simple, no troubles, no extra charges miraculously appearing on my bill, e-tolls were charged as used. The guys at the garage did quick work checking the car through. Absolutely satisfied with our rental, and we could only hope other Sixt outlets can replicate this level of service!
Unklare Beschreibung was Prepaid Tank bedeutet wenn man bereits full-to-full ausgewählt hatte. Es wird einem empfohlen da ja die Tankstellen teuer wären in der Umgebung. Gebühren und Versicherungen dir bereits vorher abgedeckt waren auf Rechnung(Glas und Reifen). Hier wird betrügerisch abkassiert!!! Ich werde das dem ADAC melden.

It was my first rental experience and it was great! I booked a car at the official SIXT site. Becase I saw how hard it can be drive and park cars in Portugal I chosed Full-protected Insurance. I think it worth it if you want to be focused on road trip and vacation. David and Felipe were very friendly. David explained to me all rules and conditions again and Felipe showed me a car, each damage car has. At the return car was checked. No additional damages were added and I signed return document. Frozen amount of money were returned at the 2 day after car return. The only thing is - Via Verde activation (toll system) cost additional 4 euro and it will be charged from credit card.

Scammers! Terrible place! Look for the hidden fees, they are everywhere. Please look at all the reviews below. This place have professional scammers. They gave me a car smelling like cigarette and the carplay was disconnecting every 5 minutes. They are still charging me stuff they said it was covered initially.
They rented me a car with the wrong fuel and then blamed me, charging over 750 euros for damages even after I provided a receipt proving I used the correct fuel. Renting out faulty vehicles is a dangerous business practice and cannot justify the need to overcharge customers. Avoid. ps. Thanks for the shoutout to your customer service team, Paloma! Their lightning-fast response a month later was ...we have received confirmation that you have opened a bank dispute. As such, all communications regarding this process will be made directly with your banking institution. :)
O carro não foi um problema, mas na hora do contrato o atendente lançou um serviço de seguro total que não foi solicitado. Na hora acreditei na palavra do atendente que me explicou os pontos e não me detive lendo ponto por ponto do contrato. Com isso fui cobrado em cerca de 250 euros por um serviço que não solicitei ou usei. Apesar de todos os contatos permaneci com esse prejuízo. Qualquer um que opte por alugar junto a essa empresa sugiro enfaticamente que somente assine após ler detidamente cada uma das centenas de cláusulas e cobranças aplicadas. Não confie no atendente nem aceite o envio da documentação por e-mail.

Serviço rápido e eficiente
Assez déçu de la prestation offerte par cette agence de location. Premièrement, il n y a pas de boîte à clés pour rendre la voiture de location en dehors des heures d ouverture. De plus, le terminal de paiement ne fonctionnait pas avec ma carte de crédit Visa Infinite ce qui est la première fois que ça m arrive dans une agence de location de voiture. J ai dû utiliser une autre carte de crédit qui ne possédait pas d assurance pour les dommages sur la voiture donc l agence m a chargé en extra une assurance pour assurer le véhicule. Pour finir, comme il n y avait pas de boîte à clés, il a fallu que je rende le véhicule à l aéroport. Quand je me suis présenté, le personnel n était même pas au courant du changement de lieu de retour et on m a accusé d avoir causé un dommage sur le véhicule qui était déjà présent lors de la prise en charge du véhicule. Il semblerait que l employé n ai pas fait correctement son travail lors de la vérification de l état du véhicule le matin même. Heureusement que j avais eu l intelligence de prendre des photos pour prouver que je ne suis pas le responsable du dommage. Je trouve ça vraiment irrespectueux de se faire accuser sans preuves et de me faire dire que le département des dommages va me contacter pour que je leur envoie une preuve. J ai vraiment l impression qu on me prend pour un menteur et qu on me fait perdre mon temps alors que c est Sixt qui a bâclé la vérification du véhicule. J ai l habitude de louer mes véhicules avec Enterprise et j ai choisi Sixt pour la première fois car le prix était intéressant. Je comprends pourquoi le prix était bas tant le service fourni était de piètre qualité. Ce sera la première et dernière fois que je louerais avec Sixt.

Please use enterprise, hertz whatever you want but not this branch or maybe Sixt in general. Had no problems with sixt previously until now. The manager (front desk guy) tried to include extra services in my booking without my clear consent and his explanation of services that I need to include was confusing. I had a feeling he was trying to trick me to pay extra. I saw at the end that the sum of money was different from what I booked and refused to pay, so after waiting another 5-7 minutes I paid the exact price as the booking stated. It was the longest waiting time in Sixt and communication of the manager was suspicious as he consistently reminded of the window protection and road side stuff. That made me think that something is wrong with car from the starters. 4 managers were in a room, they saw this guy had a problem, but non of them helped to resolve the situation. I got a nice car though. Also I want to admit that guys at the garage are better in terms of communication and explanations than the front desk.

NO ALQUILAR CON SIX, SON UNOS ESTAFADORES. Cómo es posible que esta empresa siga operando en Portugal. A mi y a mi esposo nos están intentando estafar por daños que no hicimos y que ya estaban en el vehículo. Cuando te entregan el vehículo y cuando lo reciben, nadie se hace cargo de revisarlo y después de unas semanas, te llega un mail culpándote por daños que no hiciste al auto. Por suerte, como nosotros ya tenemos experiencia en este servicio, hicimos nuestros propios registros de todos los daños que ya tenían el vehículo. Por lo que tomaremos acciones legales, ya que tenemos sólidas evidencias de que el vehículo estaba con daños. Esperando que esta empresa cierre y no vuelvan a estafar a nadie más. Es insólito ver todos los casos que hay en internet contra esta empresa reclamando lo mismo, cobros indebidos.
Fiz uma reserva online e levantamento do carro não teve nenhuma demora, chegamos lá e já fui logo atendida. Como a maioria das empresas, nos colocam pressão e tentam nos vender mais e mais itens na hora de pegar o carro se eu ja fiz a reserva online, não tenho grande interesse em nada extra! Sejam mais razoáveis nas ofertas na hora de buscar o carro com reserva online, sejam mais explicativos e menos vendedores querendo adicionar mais coisas na compra. Além disso, o IVA não estava incluído no preço, o que me fez pagar 23% a mais na hora, deveria haver um indicativo mais chamativo a esse ponto na hora da reserva online. Diferente dos vendedores, o gentil mecânico que nos entregou o carro e nos forneceu informações técnicas do veículo merece meu elogio. Foi muito cortês, explicou minuciosamente sobre tudo, nos tirou todas as dúvidas sobre o veículo e nos deu dicas. Nos deixou a vontade para acostumar com o carro. Foi excepcional. O carro estava em ótimo estado, não nos deu um sequer problema, rodamos 500km muito confortáveis e em segurança.

We checked the Sixth web site for rental cars in Porto/Portugal. The daily price for a Ford Focus was $23.12. because of our local internet issue we could not make reservation online. We went to a local sixth office. The representative (Mr. Valdas) told us because they only have 2 more cars they can not honor the web site price and charged us 163.63 EUR (more than $200). Très mauvaise expérience de Sixt mais finalement très cohérents avec l ensemble des avis déposés. De très grands malhonnêtes nous rendant responsables de dommages sur le véhicule alors qu une vidéo avec preuve avait été prise le matin montrant l existence préalable du dommage. Aucun état de lieu n est réalisé au moment de la prise du véhicule alors qu un pointilleux tour du véhicule est effectué lors de la remise de celui-ci. Une assurance supplémentaire 0 franchise a été prise ce qui nous évite des frais supplémentaires (promis par l employé de Sixt) mais nous rend responsables de l usure de la voiture. Cette agence est absolument à bannir puisqu ils profitent de la barrière de la langue pour faire ce qu ils veulent. Ne faites pas la même erreur que nous et pensez bien à regarder les avis pour éviter de faire appel à cette agence.

I would like to say that I am very disappointed with SIXT. My friends and I will not use SIXT again. You absolutely deserve a bad review and you definitely will get it. A big company that has the psychology of small companies and tries to extort money from customers with various unclear, unreal and fantastic reasons.
We live in the Boavista area and have rented a car from this Sixt on multiple occasions. We have had great experiences with their customer service each time. The staff is always kind and helpful, especially Anastasiya at the front desk. The cars are comfortable and clean. The check-out and check-in process is easy and friendly. I would recommend booking your rental car here for excellent service!
Ne surtout pas prendre loption PAYANTE pour les péages ! On la prise pour être facturé directement par Sixt et ne pas avoir à aller dans un Bureau de poste. Résultat : on a payé une option et reçu une contravention pour ne pas avoir payé à temps le péage. Et le service client se dédouane car il aurait envoyé un mail que je nai jamais reçu.

Giving a single star is harsh. But deserved. The location isnt great to start off with. The front door was somehow broken so I had to walk in the through the garage. I dont care. But the agent tried to upsell me to a fancier, yet much smaller BMW while commenting that my 5 passengers with 3 suitcases would not fit in the SUV I reserved. And he wanted EUR50/day for the pleasure - though couched it as a one-time EUR50 charge. I had him show me both cars. The upsell BMW was a sedan which would not have fit us while the Renault SUV was plenty spacious for our needs. Not what I am used to from Sixt and frankly unbecoming.

I have used Sixt rental car services for my travels in Portugal over the past year and have encountered zero issues up until my latest rental. This rental was back in February 2023, and they recently sent (June 2023) me a bill stating that I owe a difference in tolls because their system was down. But they originally charged my account for the tolls shortly after returning the vehicle back in February. I tried to contact their customer support only to be met with bad customer service and then transferred to a supervisor who eventually hung up on me. Im sorry to say that they will continue to lose their customer base due to unfair practices and a total disregard for their customers. Please stay away!!!
We chose Sixt because it was the most cost-effective for one day compared to other rental companies. Nice and fast service and a very nice and almost new (3000 km!) Volkswagen Polo car. Even Android auto worked wirelessly :)

Highly recommend not doing business with this company. I returned the car 30 minutes before I was supposed to but the return was painfully slow as there were multiple car returns ahead of me, also some staff were eating lunch in the corner. I waited patiently as I was in line. Everything was fine and 30-40 minutes later I checked in the car no problem and was on my way. A month later there was a 85 charge on my credit card from sixt. (Which was more than my combined 3 day rental) When I contacted them I was shocked to learn that they charged me an entire day because the check in was 12 minutes late . After emailing them back and forth for a couple months stating the facts they ended the discussion with we maintain our position and consider the extra charge valid . I did not expect this type of corruption in Portugal and I will never recommend this company because they are 100% con artists. After making this necessary review, I know I will get some terrible rationalization response from sixt defending their charge. But this company is sketchy and are not honest.
We had an amazing experience renting a car here. Since the front desk reception to the deliver of the car, everything was really good. The car was new, clean and had everything we needed for our vacation. I need to specially thank Anastasiya and Felipe for the great customer service ever. Anastasiya was incredibly helpful and caring. Felipe explained very well all we needed to know about the car and made sure we did not have other doubts before leaving. Thank you very much for the excelent service, for sure you guys made our day better.
I rented my car with Sixty and the problems started before the trip. I rented in the Porto Airport off Terminal station. One day before my flight Sixty informed that this location would close at 7pm and since my flight was scheduled to arrive at 6:50pm I would need to take the car in the Porto Airport station (which I thought I was already doing) and charged me an extra $60. I was not happy, but since it was one day before my trip I did not have much time to look for options and agreed to it. Arriving in Porto I when to get the car and the Airport station was closed, so I needed to get a shuttle to the station close to the airport (the same one that closes at 7pm and that I had to pay an extra $60). The process of getting the car was fast. The only problem was that one wiper blade was damaged. The answer from the attendant when I pointed that out was that they were not expecting any rain. Not satisfactory but after a 12 hour flight with two kids I did not had in my to argue. But the problem was when getting the car back. The attendant came to do a full inspection in the car, and that included a mirror to looks under the car and all. It took some 20 minutes for the inspection to finish and he found a scratch under the car. I told him that I am sure that this was not done during my rental. He said that he would note that. After a couple days I receive a $296 bill from Sixty to fix this scratch on the bottom of the car. Total scam. Do not rent with Sixty!
Even though everything went smooth in the office when picking and returning car, few weeks later I received an Invoice for Fueling 2 times. We returned car with full tank, they charged us double and not responding to my emails. Recently received another email for charging extra. This is ridiculous, when price for day increased from 36 to 180 I still hope I can get a response and explanation.
1 star seems like to much fo such a SCAM. Everything was fine then we left the car at the rental. They checked the condition of the car and the fuel tank, which was full. We asked if everything is fine and it was. Received a document that car was checked and was received in good condition and with full fuel tank, only to get a new bill later on with a bill to pay around 20 euros for fuelling services and around 60 euros for fuel! Mind me, we took small car and only used up fuel worth around 28 euros (thats how much we paid for fuel in gas station 10 minutes before we returned the car ). In addition, after we opened the complaint, they ignored it and sent out additional motorways fee, although it was already included in the first bill... so dissapointed, DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Siempre arrendaba auto con sixt pero la ultima me dejo con sabor amargo, arrende en marzo de este año y al llegar no tenian sistema por lo que todo se hizo se forma manual, dada la confianza que tenia en el sistema accedi, hoy a 4 meses de la data, me han hecho los cobros asociados a los portages de carretera asociados siendo que ya habia sido cobrado cierto monto y desde servicio al cliente jo responden los correos, ademas realizaron un cobro duplicado, tengo el correo (unico correo donde respondieron) indicandome explicitamente cuales eran los cobros asociados que debia pagar, respondi explicando y adjuntando el cobro duplicado anlo que ya van 2 semanas y nadie responde, el call center me indica que debo verlo por correo, quien responde ante esto?
DO NOT USE THIS CAR RENTAL SERVICE. BEWARE!! I rented a car from Sintra and had to return to Porto. The car upon pick up was battered, when I asked the attendant if driving with a crack in the windshield was safe he said yes because it was on the edge. Thank goodness I took pictures and videos because upon drop off (had to drop off before opening) they tried to charge me over $700 to replace the windshield! Despite the windshield damage being noted on my initial paperwork they attempted to use me to pay for the windshield. Without pictures and videos I would have been in trouble. Along with this they are hitting me with charges that they never explained and that show how horrible their customer service is. I returned to a Sixt just outside the airport (not from Portugal) and they are charging me over $50 for that. I will be back in Portugal soon and will tell everyone I know not to use this rental company. I regret even giving them 1 star but wanted to write so otherwise were aware.

I rent a lot with Sixt, did so also in Lisbon and Faro. But this station I really cant recommend. Zero member recognition for Platinum. No upgrade. Was told I would get a new car. Barely functional clutch, broker plastic parts and scratches all over. The list of damages consists of 10 positions, 4 scratches with more than 10cm. Wouldnt expect this from Sixt. Will contact their customer service. The staff were friendly, yes. But that is low bar to jump.
Vehicle had a safety fault. Brakes failed, despite providing photographic evidence. Hit a curb upon brake failure because car wouldn t stop. 1 day with a faulty car, rather than a refund, being charged almost £400 for an average Kumho tyre. Rent at your own risk.

Trains were canceled thus the rental car pick up with extremely busy. Diego helped us with our car, as he rapidly attempted to walk around the car, my wife and I slowed him down to mark down the damage on the vehicle, he continued to state that all the damage was currently marked and rushed thru the process. Upon return of the rental car 3 hours later at Lisbon airport, we were charged for a dent which was told to us by Diego was already marked. I would rented from enterprise Lisboa airport to drive to porto two days prior, Enterprise has a far superior system as the renter uses their phone to mark damage and upload photos without an employee telling lies about damage already being marked. Run as fast as you could away from Sixth rental, even if its lower cost than the competition, its worth it for peace of mind and honesty.

Very poor rental - I ordered a premium car. I got a few years old Mercedes with a mileage of 60,0000 km. the inside was very worn and dirty. The exterior of the car bore bruises. It crashed while driving.

I had a good time renting a car in Portugal until later on when Sixt tried to automatically charge my card for the Debit Tolls and it failed because it my bank thought it was fraudulent activity. I got an automatic email immediately from Sixt which said they had forwarded the failed tolls to Via Verde in which I now have to pay through them (and I suspect will also have to pay fines too). The Sixt toll statement got my address wrong and Ive been waiting almost 2 months for contact from Via Verde to pay the tolls. Sadly the customer service for Sixt have not been replying to my emails.
Mietwagen: gemietet in Porto mit einer sehr kurzen Zeit für die Abnahme (wegen Schließung der Stadion) und einer nicht unerheblichen Anzahl an kleineren Vorschäden; Rückgabe erfolgte per Schlüsseleinwurf, da außerhalb der Geschäftszeiten. Im Anschluß werden mir Mängel in Höhe von knapp 600 in Rehnung gestellt, die ich nicht verursacht habe, aber da es kein Rückgabeprotokoll gab und auch bei der Übernahme nicht ausreichend Zeit vorhanden war, muss ich zahlen. Miete seit über 30 Jahren Fahrzeuge in der ganzen Welt war nahezu allen Mietwagenfirmen, abei ein solches VOrgehen habe ich noch nie erlebt - Sixt zum ersten und letzten Mal!
Sensors because of tire pressure are annoying.. You have to say or change the battery beforehand.. Otherwise great.. Important to clarify beforehand because of trips abroad. A trip to Spain cost me a short 80 surcharge.. A third more of the total costs. Schwub the car is a bit more expensive.. Thats too much in my opinion.. The rest really

Be warned, this company is doing illegal creditcard charges. Randomly started charging my creditcard a year after the rental while all the invoices had been paid. Then challenges the chargeback with the creditcard company.
DO NOT RENT A CAR HERE. Just avoid! 1. Received unknown charge over 100, without any information about it whatsoever, 2 days after returning. 2. No confirmation sent upon return of the car, thankfully I had picked up a hard copy at the place before leaving. We paid full insurance and condition of car was great on return so there s no reason why we should be charged for a rental paid online. 3. Also not sent a confirmation about the booking but the supervisor Michelle and Pedro insisted the system had sent it These are just a handful of the issues. The rental car itself was fine, but the hassle of dealing with unknown payments and surprise charges is absolutely not worth it. I have sent Sixt an email, let s see what the response will be. UPDATE to add further issues: 1. The response was us being sent an invoice for late return. We were not informed at time of return that it was considered late, especially when the receiving person took a while before he attended to us. Furthermore we were given a grace period to return because of the issues we faced (see point 2) 2. Generally seems to have a problem with telling customers information up front? We were not told upfront that we needed to bring a PHYSICAL card at time of pick up. I understand the payment method must match the lessee name, but we weren t informed about having to bring a physical card. They tried to insist it was in the terms and conditions, made me read it in the shop and it s NOT in the T&Cs. Only names matching is the T&Cs, and the digital card does match, we provided real IDs and everything. This is the root cause of the payment issues I m experiencing.

Taxi genomen naar Sixt om daar te horen dat er geen auto beschikbaar was. Nooit een annulering ontvangen per mail. na een schriftelijke klacht bij thuiskomst een soort standaard antwoord gekregen zonder in te gaan op klacht. Konden de klacht goed gebruiken om de service te verbeteren. Nou in ieder geval niet bij mij.
This Sixt is so much better than Lisbon s, very good service and staff. Felipe and Nando were great and actually helped me.
Had a great experience in Lisbon and Porto. Do recommend location inside city limits in Porto. Provided a damaged car and a remote with low battery. Manager was very nice. Service person at desk would not let up on pitching prepay for gas and damage insurance.
Got charged 260 for an additional insurance, which I did not know I signed, as they told the amount I had to give is the guarantee. They took 560 as a guarantee and only gave me back 300 , which was the real guarantee and 260 was an additional fee which they did not explained they took. For this action I will never again rent a car with Sixt. Thanks for nothing. Thanks to Tiago who was working on that day and was so nice not explaining us what he really charged us that day and constatly telling us that the whole amount is only the guarantee and you will get everything back . He first gave us the card terminal to pay the guarantee and afterwards only gave us the contract without explaining everything and only telling that this is the bill from the online payment we did already. We have rent a car from them for 2 days. The staff were very kind and helpful. We received a new car instead of the one we rented. They expleined the rules precisely. The person in charge was not very picky and he received the car without any problem. The deposit came back to our bank account very soon (I think after 3 or 4 days). We had a great exprience renting a car from them and we will definitely use the SIXT in our future trips in the europe.

Tem que pagar muitos extras , o meu carro custava 359 com todos os seguros e ao fim custou 540 por isso se puderem não escolham assim uma companhia que não é leal não explica as coisas na net para depois te apanhar e pagares um balurdio . Jai été extrêmement insatisfait de la prestation très chère et inefficace de cette agence. Jai loué, à 330 par jour, une Audi A4 familiale, on ma proposé une voiture de près de 75 000 km, qui de toute évidence était très mal entretenue : en plein parc naturel, elle a commencé à faire un bruit très inquiétant, nous navons pas pu l utiliser pour le reste de notre séjour et avons dû prier pour quelle nous ramène jusquà Porto. Leur soi-disant « numéro d urgence », disponible « 24/7 » s est révélé inefficace et inexistant. Après des mails et des appels répétés, on nous a proposé une autre voiture à laéroport, pour quelques heures avant de reprendre le vol, puis ils ont eu l inélégance - a posteriori bien sûr - de me debiter 11 supplémentaires pour le changement de voiture. Je nai jamais eu un tel niveau de médiocrité, d absence de soins du client : ça devait être des vacances de relaxation et à cause d eux ça a été des vacances angoissantes. À l agence de départ, on vous donne des conseils paternalistes et inutiles. On se fiche de tout ça : ce que l on souhaite, c est des voitures fiables qui fonctionnent, à la hauteur du prix haut-de-gamme payé. Pour moi qui suis un très gros client de Sixt, cette expérience va me faire douter de leur réel sens du service : très cher et de plus en plus mauvais, de plus en plus de mauvaises surprises, une fois la voiture rendue (des débits à répétition). Vous êtes de moins en moins compétitifs.
We had an excellent check-in experience with Nando at the Boavista Sixt in Porto. He was excellent at explaining the terms of the rental contract and the car was promptly ready for our pickup. The car was clean, in excellent condition, and the porter walked us through the various features of the car prior to our departure. We highly recommend Sixt as a rental company and also this location!
SCAM. One star is not enough to rate this facility. We rented online before leaving the states and upon reaching Porto after midnight because of a delayed flight, were told that we had to opt for A LOT more coverage in order to be given the car. We had children and luggage and needed to safely get our family to our accommodations so had no choice. We have called VIPCars who we actually rented through as well as this SIXT office in Porto only to be told that they would speak to the person on duty that night but no refund for this fraudulent charge that just brings them more money. Making sure everyone I know going to Porto avoids this location and will be sure to mention it in our travel blog.

I rented a car from this car rental agency for a weekend in Porto. During the vehicle pick-up, the condition report was impeccable. However, during the return, the agency charged me repair fees for damages that did not exist. I contested these charges, but the agency refused to cancel them. I was therefore forced to pay a large sum of money for damages I did not cause. I strongly advise against this car rental agency. It is fraudulent and you risk being scammed.
I rented a car from this agency for a weekend trip to Porto. When I received the bill, I was shocked to see that there were hidden fees for everything, including insurance, taxes, and fuel. The total cost of the rental was much higher than I had expected. I had been tricked. I tried to dispute the charges, but the agency was unhelpful and refused to cooperate. I was forced to pay the charges, even though I knew I was being scammed. I would never recommend this agency to anyone. They have poor customer service and they are dishonest.
TRY TO AVOID SIXT. Biggest theives in Portugal. Beatriz Carvalho, the theif representative. Horrible human!! They don t make worse people in the world. Dirty thieves stole money, be careful renting from this dishonest trashy people. I have been renting cars my whole life and I never had such a bad experience in my life. It doesn t get worse than this. They charged me for damages that had absolutely nothing to do with me. They have a separate business for making money from dishonest ways. I hope to see this company go out of business. I have never wished anyone bad but they deserve it.

Got a better car as expected, also good service. I prepaid via german automobile club and just want to pick up the car there. 4/5 stars because I did not want to buy the load for gasoline when I return the car. However, after three times saying no I gave up and bought it. Otherwise I had to start arguing. So, when your customer says no, please just accept.

Buyer beware This was originally a 5 star rating I have reduced to 1 star. I take it all back! A month after I completed my return I am now receiving emails from Sixt and attempted charges against my card for non-existent issues. I ve had to edit this post because Sixt keeps flagging my negative review as hate speech. Original post: I rented in Lisbon, drove through Douro, and returned in Porto. I made my reservations online through chase. Being so far away from the agency, and seeing all of these really bad reviews I almost canceled my car the night before! BUT, checkout was seamless. They offered me insurance, but didn t pressure when I said no. The car I received was scratched all over and I thought for sure they d give me a hard time about it on return. I took pictures and the checkout person even suggested other pictures I should take. When I checked in no issues. No imaginary scratches. No hard time. They did look the car over, but that s their job. If these reviews have you worried at least for me it was a seamless and pleasant 4 day rental!

This location was unnecessary late in helping with a flat tire issue. First told us that they could not help in spite of having roadside protection from them. Asked us to call toll free number which told us to go to the airport location. The staff there were very helpful. However, it too five hours to fix the problem and we lost our bookings for the day.
We had a great experience renting from Sixt in Portugal. We picked the car up in Porto city center and returned in Lisbon city center. We would definitely rent from Sixt.
Ich hatte einen Tag vor der Abholung die Rezensionen gelesen und Panik bekommen. Aber alles lieft absolut reibungslos und die Leute waren sehr freundlich. Ich wurde einmal gefragt, wegen einer Zusatzversicherung, aber nicht aufdringlich. Bin rundum zufrieden.

Cuidado ao fazer a reserva pela internet. Na página da Sixt que eu fiz a reserva o preço total informado não incluia IVA. Dessa forma acabei pagando mais caro pois o preço da concorrente que era ligeiramente mais alto já incluia os 23% de IVA. Considero desonestidade apresentar um preço final sem incluir o IVA

I have rented from the Boa Vista SIXT location on several occasions, and have always experienced professionalism. The cars have always met my expectations, the rates are reasonable, and I have never had any problems.
Location du 8 au 12 novembre 2023 à l agence de Porto Aéroport. Lorsque j ai rendu la voiture à l agence et suite au contrôle, l agent Sixt nous a bien dit qu il n y avait aucun problème et que tout était en règle. Nous sommes donc reparti confiants en direction de l aéroport. Et j ai reçu ensuite une facture qui indiquait 50 de nettoyage spécial alors qu au contrôle personne n a fait mention de ce problème. En effet le véhicule était dans un état normal pour un usage normal en temps de pluie. Cette subtilité sur le nettoyage n apparaît pas dans le contrat. C est à mon sens un abus. Je loue des voitures régulièrement et je n ai jamais eu ce type de désagrément. Peut être que si j avais souscrit une assurance vendu par Sixt je n aurai pas eu de surfacturation ? L avis a été changé le 5 décembre 2023 (de 1 à 4 étoiles) suite au remboursement de la somme prélevée par erreur. Joana a répondu à mes interrogations de façon très professionnelle, je la remercie.

It was a pity I had to give any stars as I would have given @Sixt zero if I could. They ripped me off for over £600 for damage I didn t do to their car. Their practice of taking arbitrary sums from the £2,500 deposit you have to give them should be illegal.

Rapidez na reserva. Levantamento e entrega dentro da normalidade. Funcionários prestáveis e simpáticos.
Leider keine volle Punktzahl, weil die Endabrechnung nicht funktioniert. Positiv: Übergabe vom Fahrzeug einwandfrei. Positiv: sehr schönes Fahrzeug erhalten. Positiv: Rückgabe vom Fahrzeug einwandfrei. Positiv: Vom Abgabeort zum Flughafen gab es innerhalb kürzester Zeit ein Shuttle. Negativ: bei der Abholung wurde mir eine Versicherung aufgeschwatzt, die ich nicht haben wollte (Schutzbrief). Kostet für meinen Wagen in Deutschland 9,- Euro/Jahr. Bei Sixt 5,- Euro, aber pro Tag!) Negativ: Es wurde eine Endabrechnung (z.B. Abrechnung Autobahn-Maut) innerhalb von einer Woche zugesagt. Innerhalb weniger Tage wurde Geld von meinem Konto abgebucht. Habe mehrmals eine Endabrechnung angemahnt. Nach mehreren Wochen immer noch keine Reaktion von Sixt. Habe das Geld von meiner Bank zurück buchen lassen und Sixt darauf hin noch einmal angeschrieben. Mal schauen, ob die sich noch einmal melden. Nachtrag: 2 Monnate und sehr viele Emails hat es gedauert, bis die Abrechnung anständig erfolgt ist.

Totalno neljubazni i neprofesionalni kod preuzimanja vozila kao i kod vra anja vozila. Nikad vi e ne u iznajmiti vozilo u Sixt-u nigdje u svijetu!!!
No dia 15/12/2023 eu aluguei um veiculo e realizei o pagamento online, pois a empresa oferece um desconto para pagamento antecipado. No ato do levantamento da viatura, foi realizada uma pré-autorização no valor de 306.27 , como caução, no mesmo cartão que utilizei para o pagamento online. Essa pré-autorização foi realizada sem a autorização por senha e no mesmo momento, o atendente disse-me que não era possível prosseguir, pois o sistema não permitia. E solicitou que eu fizesse outra pré-autorização, utilizando um segundo cartão, e desta vez foi autorizado por senha, e que a primeira seria cancelada. Até este ponto, temos 2 pré-autorizações ativas de aproximadamente 300 cada. No dia 18/12/2023, fui fazer a devolução do veículo. Correu normalmente, porém, ainda não haviam extornado a primeira pré-autorização que havia sido feita indevidamente. No dia 22/12/2023 fui a loja novamente para perguntar sobre a primeira pré-autorização, porém, disseram que era algo relacionado com o meu banco e já havia sido informado ao setor responsável. Visitei a loja por mais 3 vezes e fiz vários contatos telefônicos na tentativa de devolverem a caução, pois trata-se de uma conta corrente e não um cartão de crédito. Hoje no dia 05/01/2024, informaram por e-mail que o prazo é de 30 dias para a devolução. Isso por que é um erro deles. Ainda estou a aguardar a devolução do valor de 306.27 que bloquearam indevidamente da minha conta.

Very nice comfortable car supplied however the next day I discovered that the oil level was at the very bottom of the dip stick when the oil light came on Which obviously causes concern when you have a long way to drive

Be careful to read the document you sign when returning the car. When I returned the car the employee said that all was good and I just signed the return document. But it contained mentions about damage so theyre going to charge me with 378 euro for damage I didnt do. Looks like scam so be careful with them. I will never use the services of this company again.
