We had an amazing time spending the day with Jose and learning all about wine on this experience! We ended up on this tour, having initially purchased through a larger company- I wish we had booked directly! Communication was clear throughout the experience. Food and wine were lovely. Jose is so knowledgeable, not only about wine/wine making, but shared with us about the history of the area as well. Everyone we encountered was welcoming, open and informative. We had a wonderful day doing a private tour with BL Heritage Tours today. Our party consisted of a family of 7 people, including 2 seniors, 3 adults, and 2 children aged 8 and 5. Our tour guide, Leonardo, was incredibly friendly, funny, informative, and an excellent driver. As we closed the evening out with our kids, they both asked if we could repeat the tour and that they wanted to hang out with Leonardo again. We started the day with Leo picking us up at our Airbnb, and he drove us 1.5 hours to the Douro Valley. He stopped at a few scenic places where we could get out, stretch our legs, and take photos of the gorgeous valley. Despite the cloudy day, we could just imagine how much more majestic the area would be with the sun shining down along the dips and layers of the valley. Our kids really enjoyed the boat ride along the Douro River; they loved the lovely spread of snacks. The boat tour truly felt very private as we were the only ones on the river. Our wine tasting stop was wonderful and served as our lunch stop. We left the Douro Valley feeling full, satisfied, and very tipsy. At our lunch, we saw other parties that were also on their own tours, and you could tell everyone else was also enjoying their tours. BL Heritage Tours has done a wonderful job creating a tour that is enjoyable for people of all ages. Leo, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a wonderful day. P.S. Our kids want to ask Leo, Whatever happened to the quiz? Our son said he wants Leo to quiz him the next time he sees him.

The Douro Valley Tour was fantastic. The winery tour (Quinta do Foz) was interesting, but the wine dinner at Quinta do Monte Travesso was one of the highlights of our whole trip. Our guide, Bruno, was very entertaining and engaging. Would definitely recommend the experience.

Brilliant tour. Leonardo was an outstanding guide - knowledgable, entertaining and concerned that we all had a great time. The itinerary - and the attention to detail - was first class. We were recommended to do this tour by friends who loved it - and so did we. Great experiences at the 2 small wineries we visited and certainly nice to visit wineries that have retained local charm, history and a connection to the region. Nothing wrong with the big houses - but if you are looking for an insight into family owned and run houses with history and real pride in what they are doing - then this is the trip for you. This tour was excellent, and Bruno is an amazing guide!!! From pickup to drop off, everything ran smoothly and was very well thought out. We got to enjoy experiences that we never would have found on our own! A once in a lifetime opportunity made even more enjoyable thanks to Bruno and the team.

We had a fantastic time on this trip, and cannot recommenced it enough. We visited two family-run wineries that are not typically open to the public, and got to watch as they prepared the latest harvest. Each location was welcoming and charming, and every person was friendly. We also specifically booked this tour because it was a small group (8 people max).

Excellent tour with a small group of only 8 people, great wine, delicious food and Joao, our tour guide was very good. We toured private family run wineries that large tour buses dont visit and enjoyed a really nice boat trip down the river as well. Highlight of our trip to Portugal!!

Amazing trip to Douro Valley from the very beginning to the end! Carlos was so much fun and so knowledgeable about wines, Douro Valley and all things Portugal. The vineyards we visited were gorgeous and the wines were superb. Lunch was delicious! Loved the people we did the tour with Carlos did a great job engaging all of us. Tour on the river was a perfect ending to this tour. Definitely a must do!

Carlos was an exceptional guide. We absolutely loved Quinta da Foz and Quinta das Chaquedas! We were so impressed with his knowledge and charisma. Couldnt imagine a more suited person to show us around. Carlos was knowledgeable and passionate, sharing fascinating stories about the history, culture, and winemaking traditions of the Douro Valley. Both wineries we visited had unique charm, and the hosts were welcoming and generous with their knowledge. Quinta das Chaquedas especially was memorable because of the family connection to the wines.

This tour truly exceeded my expectations. Everything was perfectly organized. Leonardo was kind, entertaining, very knowledgeable, and always ready to keep the conversation going. We had the opportunity to try plenty of wines which were fantastic. The boat ride was absolutely beautiful and all around good vibes. Lunch at the second vineyard was delicious and the host was incredibly sweet, making us feel right at home. Overall, it was such a beautiful and unique experience. Highly recommend BL Heritage Tours. Me, my wife, and four others spent a beautiful day in the Douro Valley with our guide Leo, who was excellent. Leo was very passionate about his home, and it sparked great conversation throughout the day as we toured the region. The boat ride was also a nice touch, the perfect amount of time! Pick up and drop off from Porto was very convenient. You should absolutely consider this tour if you are staying in the Porto area, you wont regret it. We met at McDonalds Imperiale at 8.30am. In groups of a groups of 8, we were whisked off in a Mercedes Vito van to the Douro Valley ( about 1.5 hrs) by chatty Leo. We visited the Quinta da Foz vineyard and had a tour and tasting. Then we went on a small electric boat along the river for an hour, had a Porto tonic aperitif, which was delightful. Back in the van to Quinta das Chaquedas for lunch in their new entertaining room. The owner gave us a short tour after lunch. We also stopped along the way to see a dam and a small iron bridge. A long, but pleasant day, back in Porto around 6pm. Leo was a lovely person and guide and the other tourists ( Canadians and Americans) were good company. A special tour with a small local company.

This experience was the absolute highlight of our first visit to Portugal! Exploring the Douro Valley was unforgettable, the day was filled with fascinating insights into the local culture and winemaking. We visited 2 charming, family-run wineries. We particularly enjoyed the first one where we met with the owner who did the tasting with us and talked about his family long standing history in winemaking in Douro. We enjoyed a serene boat ride along the river, and savored incredible food and wine throughout. Our guide, Leandro, was not only knowledgeable and engaging but also kept us laughing with his witty sense of humor. The tour was intimate with a small group of only 3 couples, thoughtfully organized, and a refreshing break from the large, impersonal tours that often overlook the true essence of the region. I highly recommend BL Heritage Tours and Leandro in particular, who himself grew up in Douro Valley and had the genuine love for it.

We had a fantastic experience gonig to the Douro Valley wine area in Portgual with this group. We decided to go on this tour as part of our honeymoon, and we couldnt have been more satisfied with it. Our tour guide Rita was phenomenal -- she was very informative about the area and took the time to get to know everyone in our group. Highly recommend! The wineries we visited were great, the boat tour was relaxing (and Phillipe was a great guide on that portion), and the lunch was very good! One of the best paerts of our honeymoon, hands down!

We had a fantastic day with Leo our guide. He was extremely informative, and highly entertaining. It was a full van of 8 but a perfect size and very nice people. The wine was great, the hand made authentic Portuguese snacks and cocktails on the boat were awesome but the home made lunch at Lote 5 with paired wine was a highlight.

Book. This. Experience! It was the absolute highlight of our trip to Porto. We had such an amazing time and Carlos was the best guide we could have imagined, and one of the best wine tour guides I ve ever had. We booked through TripAdvisor. Carlos started our ride to the Douro Valley off with a great icebreaker and we learned that we had a lot in common with our group, which made the experience even better. It was a comfortable ride there and Carlos was very sensitive to our needs, providing water and stopping at viewpoints of the valley. We loved the two vineyards we visited for tours and wine tastings and the wine and port really blew us away. Two vineyards was definitely the perfect amount to see for the day, especially since the experience also includes the lovely boat ride with snacks and cocktails. The lunch was fresh and delicious and exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend booking this tour!!!

Excellent tour. Visiting Portugal from the US and found this tour being recommended by a blog called Wheatless Wanderer. Carlos, our guide, was so outgoing and positive. He picks up the group (ours was 6 people total) in downtown Porto in a very nice, clean, van. Our first stop was at Quinta de Tourais. Lilly, one of the owners, greeted us and showed us her vineyard and then brought us inside to the tasting room where we tried multiple types of wines and heard the stories behind them. She was very friendly and kind. Carlos then brought us to a river cruise through the valley which was great. The men who hosted this were very friendly, served us Port Tonics which was refreshing and allowed for us to take in the scenery. Our third stop brought us to Quinta do Bucheiro, another vineyard with rich history. Here, a full lunch was served with traditional food cooked by a 7th generation owner named Fatima. Her son paired our courses with various wines. We then took some time to walk the grounds. I believe Carlos said BL works with 6 total vineyards so your experience may vary. Door to door timing was 8:30-5:45. This is a well planned day with minimal walking. Time in the van does total a few hours as a heads up. This felt like a well valued tour and I would certainly recommend.

This was an amazing tour. Our whole family went, including the kids and it was absolutely fantastic. Theres no way I could have planned something this wonderful on my own! I highly recommend it!

This is truly a magical experience. Our guide, Bruno, was exceptional. The boat trip was gorgeous, the wine delicious, and the overall trip enjoyable in every way. My husband and I were particularly touched by the consideration given to our dietary restrictions. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. It was certainly the highlight of our trip to Portugal!

I will recommend the Duoro Valley wine trip to any friends and family who are making their way to Porto. Bruno was our guide for the day, and Joao was our guide for the boat portion. Both were INCREDIBLE. They taught us a lot, and made the day extremely fun. Bruno did a great job creating an open atmosphere for our group to get to know each other and spend the whole day together. Quinta Da Foz and and Quinta do Bucheiro were the two wineries we visited, and they were both amazing -- and places we wouldnt have found if not for this tour and their local connections to these family-owned spots.

Our experience on this tour was lovely. The wineries selected were small and perfect, with quality products. We were well-fed in addition to the wine tastings. We would have liked to stop at one or two more wineries to break up the time spent in the van, and to sample more wines!

Thanks to Leo, our guide and BL Heritage, the Douro valley tour was one of the very best tours my wife and I have very taken. This was a small tour with 8 people in a private van. Leo was very knowledgeable and had a very engaging personality. The food was over the top fantastic including a private lunch at a vineyard and a magnificent ride on BL heritages private boat on the Douro River. I highly recommend this tour. BTW, we are not ones who write reviews very often but we really wanted to share this fabulous experience with others.

Our group did a day tour to Douro Valley and it was one of the most fun tours ever!! João was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and just an overall wonderful person!! The small, family owned wineries were incredible, the food delicious, and the boat trip was the perfect end to the day! Highly recommend João and BL Heritage for a unique and fun time!

When researching Douro Valley wine tours all the options looked very similar on the surface, which is why I am especially glad we were recommended this tour group by a friend. From the access to beautiful local family wineries not accessible to the public, to the friendliness of the team and tasty wine selections. I know several friends that also previously took this tour and across the board it was a highlight of our Portugal trips. I cannot say enough good things about Bl Heritage Tours.

We had an absolutely incredible, once in a lifetime Duoro Valley tour with Leandro, Bruno, and co. We had a large private group of 10+ people and they were very accommodating from the get-go to adding additional people last minute and making sure we were all settled for the trip As we had a private group tthey picked us up at our rental location which made organization a breeze. After that, the whole experience was surreal. We had a scenic drive up to a fantastic vista overlooking the valley. Then a winery tour with some wine tastings, a river cruise with excellent cocktails and snacks, and finally a superb home made lunch. Everything was incredible and well thought out - our whole group was welcomed like family. We also received a thorough history lesson on the valley and its roots, along with valuable port wine knowledge on the drive there so we were better prepared to experience the tastings

This was absolutely a highlight of our 2-week trip to Spain and Portugal, and we would recommend booking this tour again and again! I researched tour options extensively before landing on this one. The day was perfectly planned and so smooth. Our tour guide, José, was incredible and had amazing energy. He kept us engaged all day and had so much history and knowledge to share with us about the Douro Valley and all of Porto and Portugal. As two Americans on their first European trip AND wine tour, José and this company set the bar really, really high. Absolute must do experience if you are visiting Porto! Leonardo was a fantastic guide perfect combination of personable, knowledgeable and helped us really learn and experience Douro Valley like a local. This company cares about bringing you to local wineries (and the prices reflect that) and giving you a non-commercialized experience. Their boat tour is extremely special, since they run their own boats and the boat itself was entirely solar powered (we seemed to be the only ones on the river so felt like a private experience). Was super easy to book the day or two before 10/10 would recommend!

The Duoro Valley Tour with BL Heritage Tours was simply an amazing experience! They have made an effort on so many little things: finding small family run wineries in the heart of this beautiful region, letting us chat with the wine makers and staff to understand local issues, making efforts to run in the most green and responsible way so that their footprint in this gorgeous region is limited. And the organization skills! They created a magical wine and food tasting and pairing experience that is authentically Portuguese AND included a lovely boat ride in their solar and electric boat down the Duoro. Carlos (our guide) was easily the best! He was fun, engaging and full of details. Our small group of 8 were lovely. Our parents could not stop talking about how wowed they were by this experience. The Douro Valley was a super fun and memorable activity! Our guide Carlos was wonderful: he knew so much about wine, the Douro Valley, and Portuguese life and culture, and his passion for these things was evident. He was very fun and kept the energy high throughout the whole day quite a challenge during a long car ride after several glasses of wine! The boat ride was definitely a highlight, as it gave us stunning views to go with the drinks and snacks they served. Definitely recommend!

This is our first time in Porto and wanted to do a winery and boat tour of Douro Valley. After looking at many reviews we decided on BL Heritage because of the smaller, more intimate group size they did not disappoint! Our guide for the day, Ricardo, was a perfect mix of knowledge and hospitality with a personality that lifted everyone s spirit before we even tried any wine. In fact everyone we met, from the various winery and boat staff, were friendly and welcoming. The views, wines, meal and boat ride were wonderful and made for the perfect day out. Would definitely come back and seek out Ricardo for another trip.

This was the absolute highlight of our trip to Oporto and top two in Portugal overall. If you do not do this while you are there, you have missed out! The entire experience was seamless. Our main driver and tour guide was Leonardo and he was the best. We immediately felt welcomed like friends. He gave us so much history and cultural background on Portugal while also telling hilarious stories and jokes. The wine tours were personal and intimate, especially at our lunch location where we actually met and chatted with the owner who was divine. And finally the boat tour down the Duoro River was beautiful, relaxing, educational and delicious thanks to a port tonic and snacks. We had THE best experience.

We are young 30-year-olds from Chicago who travel abroad yearly and frequently due food, wine, and walking tours...this was one of the best or possibly the best tour we have been on in the past few years. Jose (Jo) was so personal, organized, and had the best dad jokes. Beautiful small generational wineries we visited, lots of snacks along the way, full lunch, and a gorgeous boat tour. The group uses an electric solar powered boat so its quiet and allows you to really enjoy the scenery. You wont regret booking with Jose and his team. I promise you!

This tour was recommended to me by a friend who had taken the same tour, and now I recommend it to you! The guides were great, the tour is beautiful, and the food and wines are all fantastic. For the length of the tour and all the activities including the food and wine, the price is a great value. We had a great group with great conversations, and one of my favorite meals of the entire trip. For as much as we did and saw, the pace still felt leisurely and comfortable.

If I could give this tour a 10, I certainly would. Never mind the amazing organization and planning that goes into this trip, the people are the best! Leo was amazing! We Got to meet the winemaker and his son- extraordinary experience and the 5 other people that were with us were extremely fun and interesting. This tour was easily the highlight of our first trip to Portugal! The Douro Valley is breathtaking and it was such a fabulous day learning about the region and wine making process, visiting family-owned wineries, a peaceful boat ride down the river, and eating delicious food and drinking superb wine throughout the day. José is an engaging, informative, and wonderful host with a ton of great dad jokes to keep the laughter flowing! The tour was well-organized, perfectly curated, intimate, and about as far removed as you can get from the large commercialized tours that tend to exploit a region rather than support it. It was such a fantastic day that I debated booking the same tour again on another day the following week! Don t hesitate, book this tour!

Leo was a wonderful entertaining & attentive guide & we had a fabulous day of wine tasting, a great lunch & beautiful boat ride in Douro valley

What a fabulous day! Leo was a great guide and all around super nice guy. He set the tone having everyone share enough about themselves to make us all feel like friends - even those of us who don t like people. Our first winery, Quinta Avidagos (sp?) was beautiful, and our host Pedro gave us a great tour and thorough explanation of harvesting and the wine making process. We tasted 3 amazing wines - a white, a rose and a red. The flavors are so pure - no preservatives - and just yummy. Then we had a relaxing and beautiful ride in their private solar powered boat - just our group, not on a massive boat with tons of people. There we had white port tonics which were very refreshing, and delicious snacks, which were enough to be a meal. The views were incredible. Then back in the van with Leo to a viewpoint then on to lunch at another winery. The food was home prepared, and we tasted at least 5 wines (we lost count), a combination of table wines & port. Both the family members and Leo served us, then we had time to look around their home and land. Lastly we had an enjoyable ride back to Porto with Leo sharing more about the countryside, Porto and Portugal. It was one of the best experiences of our trip. Recommend very highly - it s a wonderful way to understand Portugal s wine and culture.

An easy way to see the beautiful valley and visit small family owned wineries that you may not be able to find on your own. Carlos was a fabulous driver and he made our group feel like old friends even though we had just met. The lunch alone was worth the tour price!

Amazing! The absolute perfect day! Our tour guide, Leonardo, was funny and engaging. The 1.5 hour drive felt like nothing and in fact added to the day. The wineries were family owned, small and so accommodating. We had the wineries to ourselves as there were no other tours with us. The lunch at the second winery was delicious with perfect wine pairings. We ended our day with the boat ride with more appetizers & cocktails. Could not ask for more, book it now!

We had a wonderful day in the Douro Valley with our guide Rita and one other fascinating couple. We visited two excellent small wineries, sampled outstanding wines and ports, and ate a hearty meal at the last winery. Between the two winery visits, we took a boat trip on the gorgeous Douro river on an all electric boat. We had a delicious drink and appetizers while our hosts entertained us with some tall tales of the Douro Valley. Throughout the day, Rita expertly explained the history of the valley, communities and wineries. She had an exceptional knowledge of wine and the wine making process. She was always engaging and thoughtful with the right amount of humor sprinkled throughout her commentary. We loved this experience and highly recommend it to Porto visitors!

My boyfriend and I loved this tour! Our tour guide was friendly and made us feel comfortable right away. He was a great driver, which was great for all the winding roads. Our boat ride portion was informative, with local guides and delicious snacks and port wine. The winery tour features really wonderful wine tastings and the lunch was beyond my expectations. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Highlight of our trip to Portugal! The Douro Valley was beautiful, and the wineries were exceptional. Rita was an amazing guide - friendly, fun, and knowledgeable. We were fortunate to have a small group (just four), and the trip felt very intimate. The wine tastings were informative and generous, and the lunch was the best meal we had had on the trip. I appreciated the chance to try wine and port and learn more about this region. I cant recommend this tour more highly!

Our group only had one day to explore in the Porto area, and after the tour, we are so happy we decided to go with BL Heritage Tours for that day. We were SO lucky to have Daniel as our tour guide. He was so knowledgeable, kind, accommodating, and thoughtful. He truly went above and beyond to accommodate our groups needs. He made sure that all of us were comfortable and happy throughout the tour at all times. The tour came with amazing wine, Portugal history, views, and new lifelong friends. My family and I had some complications with our flight that was scheduled for us to go back to the states the following day, and both Daniel and Leo went above and beyond to make sure we were accounted for regarding our travel plans and did anything they could to help us reschedule our flight. We feel we really lucked out with Daniel and Leo and I cannot emphasize enough how great they were. I highly recommend this tour to get the best of Portugal! Visiting the Douro Valley was such a lovely experience ! Carlos our tour guide made us comfortable from the get go. Not only was he amicable, he also had great knowledge of the Valley and the wine as he himself grew up in the region. The sinuous roads over the spectacular view of the vineyards brought us to two wineries, where we were able to learn about the porto making process and sample the delicious wines. Carlos surprised us with natas along the way, and the homemade lunch at the second winery was great. We finished off the trip with about a 30 minute cruise on the Douro River. Overall, a beautiful, well organized experience not to be missed.

Absolutely unforgettable experience! Even if you stay in Porto for two days only I recommend to spend one day in Douro Valley with BL Heritage Tours. We enjoyed absolutely stunning nature of the valley, visited 2 old wineries and had a boat tour on the river. Our guide Leandro is extremely knowledgeable friendly and fun person who actually was born in the valley and has a lot of personal stories to tell. Really happy we decided to rake the tour.

There were 6 of us from the USA and a Grand time was ad by all. Bruno was our guide-fun and very engaging. This is the tour to do!!!

There were six in our group yet Jose made a personal connection with each person in the group. He is an excellent communicator and storyteller. He provided thoughtful and personal insight into the Portuguese and particularly the Porto, Douro culture and history. We have taken many tours and this was among the very best experiences. There was plenty of good wine, a delicious meal that was so huge that it would be impossible to eat all the food served family style.. we really appreciated the vineyards we went to. They were small and very good. The boat ride was led by Phillip and was a wonderful experience with lots of interesting information, and of course Port and snacks. The consensus of our group was that it was an exceptional experience and our guide, Jose could not have been better. We did a lot of research when selecting a tour and read the reviews which led us to making this choice. I hope you will read this and decide to go on this tour. Absolutely phenomenal tour and well worth the price for the insiders tour of the Duoro wine region. We really felt personally welcomed by the winery owners, who sat and drank with us, served homemade food, and spoke about the wine and the area. What an amazing day trip! What a wonderful day. Rita your host is very knowledgeable about the Douro Valley and provides lots of information. She also can answer your many questions about other things and places. She connected the group together very quickly and we all enjoyed eachothers company. The tour offered a variety of atmospheres for wine tasting and the included meal was excellent and plentiful with some traditional foods. This is a full day of fun and learning. The valley is very pretty like the pics show. I highly recommend this tour whether you go solo or with others!

This was an exceptional experience, and our tour guide Rita was amazing and really fostered an excellent group dynamic. The drive to and from the valley was smooth, felt very safe, and did not feel long. The views of the valley were spectacular, and the boat ride was exactly as you imagine it. We had an unforgettable opportunity to see some of the lesser well-known wineries in the Douro valley. The trip included comfortable transportation around the beautiful region, several wine tastings, a wonderful lunch, and a chance to meet friendly locals. BL Heritage Tours offers a completely unique experience in the Douro Wine Valley. We booked with Airbnb which was around $240 CAD each - not sure if it would be cheaper booking directly, but Id recommend checking. This may seem on the pricier side if youre not sure what the tour entails, but I can assure you it was completely worth it. This is not like a wine tour youd get at another winery in Napa, Niagara, etc. We started with the boat tour of the Douro River. We were blessed with perfect weather on this day, meaning it was partly sunny and below 30 degrees Celsius, which seemed rare. The tour lasted around one hour and we enjoyed a cocktail and meat and cheese during the ride. We then did our first winery, Quinta de Foz, where they gave us a short tour of the winery and then we did a wine tasting. They allowed the group to try stomping the grapes as well, for those that were interested, which was really cool! Our final winery was definitely the star of the show - we had lunch here, and it was a private experience. Just look at the photos Ive attached. It was beyond beautiful and without the help of BL Tours and their connections, there is no way a normal tourist could have access to this space. The lunch was delicious and we also enjoyed some port wines during the meal. Overall everything was perfect and went smoothly. I am certain you would not get this level of attentiveness with another tour - thanks to the whole team and our guide, Bruno. The whole BL Heritage Tours team that was involved in making the day possible was amazing and I wish them great success.

Our tour with BL Heritage was a very special day. Our host Rita was lovely and very attentive; she did a wonderful job. We toured a winery (Quinto da Foz); had a boat tour ( the solar powered boat was a pleasant surprise) then had a late afternoon lunch and pairing at Quinta do Bucheiro. We bought the mouscatel. My wife and I were overwhelmed at the beauty in the Douro. This is highly recommended and well worth the time.

You could not find a better Douro Valley tour. We had such a fantastic time visiting unique wineries that we could never have gone to on our own, capped off with a magical boat ride. Our host, Leonardo, made the day particularly awesome with his great stories and personality.

I took the Douro Valley tour. Just do yourself a favor and book it. One of the best experiences of my life. José was an incredible host - he is objectively hilarious and able to make puns and references in multiple languages / cultures. His commentary was professional and informative. The van we took was sleek, clean, and comfortable. Both wineries had delicious wine of all kinds and stuffed us with amazing food. The views were of course excellent, and José knew exactly where to stop for pictures. Boat cruise was relaxing and picturesque - I appreciated their fully electric boat which was quiet and smooth.

This trip far surpassed my already high expectations. By far the best tour Ive ever been on and worth every penny! The two guides on our boat tour were funny, professional and made the trip fun! Rita, our guide and driver for the day, knew about the wines, the history and kept our group engaged the entire trip! The two family-owned wineries were visited were fascinating, seeing the casks up close, the pits where some of the wine is even today stomped by humans to prepare it and then all topped off with a wonderful several course lunch with wine pairings. If you do one tour in Porto, do this one. You will remember it always.

I cannot say enough good things about BL Heritage Tours. Our incredibly knowledgeable guide for the day was Carlos who was friendly and welcoming. We made introductions, got in the van, and headed toward the Douro Valley region. Our first stop was Quinta de Tourais Winery where we were given a tour of the cellar along with the history of the vineyard. We then headed into the tasting room for some delicious wine, bread, meats, and cheeses. Luckily for us, Tourais ships wines to the US so we can enjoy a piece of the Douro Valley upon our return home. We then headed to the Douro River to take a cruise on a solar powered boat with Filipe and Jo o. It was freezing on our cruise, but they provided blankets as well as the history of the area along with a glass of Porto tonic and snacks. Once the boat docked, Carlos took us to Quinta do Bucheiro Vineyard where we enjoyed a delicious lunch with wine pairings and later got a tour of the family owned winery. BL Heritage provides a fantastic service that we highly recommend. The tour is chock full of knowledge and history regarding the region and everyone you encounter is passionate about what they do. What a fantastic experience. Everything was setup so well and went so smoothly, the really only takeaway was I wish would could of spent more time on the boat eating some fantastic cheeses and meats! Really the transport and pickup was very smooth and easy. On the way got educated from our amazing host and driver about the region and Portuguese history. Amazing views and photo spots along the way to the first winery, then to the boat for a cruise up and down the river. followed by another historic winery for lunch! The whole day really tied together well with getting the historical information, and then seeing it played out across the land

Ricardo s tour was unmatched. He greeted us at a convenient location with a warm smile and great attitude. Our tour was full of information from beginning to end. The wineries we visited were smaller, family owned vineyards. We were served a full meal at lunch that would match anything your grandma could cook. The intimate atmosphere perfected the experience. Each of the questions we asked were answered fully. By the end of the tour, we not only felt like old friends, but extremely educated in Portuguese traditions. The trip to Duoro valley lead by Bruno was one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. The scenery, wine and food were beyond what we expected.

Truly magical! the tour description sounded too good to be true but the reality was even more splendid. This is a must do if you like wine, beautiful scenery and boat rides! Def the only way to visit the Douro valley.

My girlfriend and I took this tour with José, we could not have been happier with the experience. Smaller group (around 8 in total) than some tours, which made for a comfortable, engaging atmosphere led by our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. We reached out in advance about a food allergy (gluten free/celiac) and at every step they made sure there were accommodations, safety measures, and alternatives for the snacks and meal. I can t imagine a better or more delicious way to learn about Portugal and the Douro Valley. José provided us with proud and honest answers, as well as good humor and an easygoing manner that made the experience feel thoughtful, comfortable, and unforgettable. And, of course, some of the best wine and food I ve had in my life!

All the great reviews are not exaggerations. Bruno and his team have designed a absolutely wonderful experience for anyone who wants to see how Portugal port and winemaking has been done for centuries. I learned so about the artful way grapes are grown and processed to make the delicious wine we sampled. There was a lot of great wine. And food!! I won t spoil the moments of delight you will surely experience of you book a tour. Just know it was all worth the time and money!

Magnifique expérience avec notre guide Bruno. Belle personnalité, soucieux de notre confort et de notre bien-être, organisé ( rappel la veille, nous avise de son arrivée au point de rencontre, répond à toutes nos questions). Et la vallée en soit est MAGIQUE. Nous avons vraiment apprécié la visite de la Quinta Da Foz ( un gros merci à Karina), les vins les Portos et la multitude dinformations reçues. Ensuite, le tour de bateau avec Antonio qui est aussi très sympathique, fût fort agréable et les bouchées et le cocktail : wow! Et enfin, mon moment préféré, le dîner traditionnel à la Quinta familiale était délicieux. Outre lexcellente nourriture, nous avons beaucoup aimé aller à la rencontre de cette chaleureuse famille ! Noubliez pas de bien déjeuner avant afin de bien profiter de votre matinée.

Loved the tour of Douro Valley, worth every dollar.

It was mutually agreed that this was our favorite tour in Portugal. The warm demeanor of Jose and his guidance throughout the day always made me feel like we were in great hands! The day was nonstop adventure and luxury from our first stop to our last. Our meal was delectable and so much attention was paid to make sure that everyones dietary needs were met. Missing a trip to the Duoro Valley really would have been missing out on the heart of Portugal. The culture and history that was imparted to us throughout the day was so interesting and intriguing. We just had a blast that day!!

This was one of my favorite things I did during my time in all of Portugal. Jose was an incredible, friendly, and hilarious guide. The trip to the valley was filled with interesting facts and history, as well as fun introductions and conversation between the group and Jose. The first winery was amazing and beautiful, the boat trip was filled with delicious snacks and an amazing cocktail, and the final winery had a fantastic lunch and tasting. Jose made the entire trip so personable and fun! The valley is gorgeous and this tour helps you feel like you saw and tasted the best of it!

I cant recommend this group more highly. We had a wonderful, fun, full day of great wines, great food and great company. The guide was informative, heartfelt, funny, knowledgable and an all around delight. He kept us entertained the entire way with history, information about wines, details of the landscape and so much more. I felt as though we were taken to very special places off the beaten path. The wines and ports we shared were amazing. The specially prepared meal was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful in a very traditional surroundings. This is the tour to take.

Ricardo created a really great experience for us, which we will never forget. This tour through the Douro valley over the whole day was informational, entertaining, relaxing, funny and tasty all in once. The breathtaking scenery together with Ricardos natural talent to teach about wine, entertain the group and get everybody to loosen up made the 1.5 h trip to the first winery go by in a sec. The Quinta da Foz winery welcomed us with a very educative and exciting tour through the whole wine-making process and their historic wine cellar before a wine tasting in their picturesque yard overlooking the Douro and the neighboring vineyards. The following trip up and down the Douro by boat led us really enjoy the scenery while getting served some nice Portuguese snacks and a great Porto Tonic by two likeable local guides. At Qinta de Tourais we have been served a summery, Portuguese meal paired with some lovely wines suiting each course. Before returning back to Porto we got a small tour through the winery, concluding an absolutely worthwhile wine tasting experience. The whole trip felt like it was designed exclusively for us. Especially remarkable is the level of attention when it comes to some special dietary needs. It was no problem to contact Ricardo in advance to get gluten-free, vegetarian or lactose-free options for every meal. This experience can be highly-recommended and even let some people of our group who disliked port wine or wine in general before, discover their taste for it after tasting some of the high quality wines at the two visited winerys.

I would highly recommend booking this tour for a day away from Porto!! My friend and I got to experience a tour with Jose who was extremely friendly, knowledgable and funny. He created a fantastic group environment -- started off strangers and ended as friends! He gave a brief history that allowed for a better experience during our time in the valley. The first winery was great, then the boat tour was fantastic and we finished off with a homemade lunch + wine tasting at a different winery. Overall such a fantastic day and would recommend to anyone going to the Porto area. Note: I wasnt the biggest fan of port wine and they were able to accommodate :)

Exceptional!! terrific introduction on the drive over to the valley about the history of the Portuguese wine culture, how the vineyards used the land (soil, hills, climate), and the various wines produced. The two vineyards were truly amazing and the boat tour thru the valley was show stopping. We were amazingly lucky with weather but would have been great either way. Recommend booking with company directly BH Heritage Tours instead of via Airbnb.

What a perfect day! We had a great time with Bruno seeing the Douro Valley yesterday. Amazing wine and breathtaking views - the highlight of our trip to Portugal so far. This is a must-do!

We do not typically book group tours, but we are so glad we booked this one! The experience was even better than we anticipated...and based on the prior reviews we read, our expectations were quite high. We opted to chose Ricardos team because we wanted to be in a small, personalized group (our group consisted of my husband and myself, our two adult kids, and three others--another couple and a solo traveler). We rode comfortably in a Mercedes van--it was well worth the small premium to go this route. Our guide, Bruno, was absolutely fantastic. He was friendly and personable, considerate in every imaginable way, inclusive of everyone in the group, and very knowledgable. He is so good at his job. Wed happily hang out with him any time--we parted feeling like wed made a new friend. As for the Douro region, it should not be missed. It is absolutely gorgeous. The two wineries we visited were unique from each other, and both very beautiful. The wine tastings were generous and relaxing. The boat tour was spectacular (hosted by another great guide who made the experience great fun and taught us all so much about the area in inventive and memorable ways.) The lunch we had at the second winery was one of our best meals during our time in Portugal. The entire experience was fantastic. We never felt rushed, the wine flowed plentifully, we learned about the region, saw beautiful landscapes and made new friends. A++

This was a great tour! Bruno is really nice and funny, therefore a great tour guide. The vineyard we were taken to have the wine tasting was so beautiful with a breathtaking view. Book this company without hesitation. We had the most fantastic day learning about the wines and heritage of the Douro Valley. Leo was a brilliant guide, the day was so relaxed and the group size was perfect. Not to mention of course the beautiful wines, delicious food and incredible scenery. Leo was an incredible guide to the Duoro Valley and because of his heritage in the area made the region come alive with wonderful stories of his grandfather & his personal wine education. Do not miss this experience with Leo as your guide. The textured layers of landscape on this trip were stunning and the wine was delicious. I realized a dream of stomping grapes at our first stop. This tour and our guide Daniel were both absolutely fantastic! Daniel told us some great stories and interesting info about the valley on our drive out to the first winery where we met up with another one of their tour groups (so 12 of us total) for our first wine tasting. Then we headed with our group (5 people) to a beautiful, historical winery where the family who owns it cooked us a fantastic, authentic Portuguese lunch. From there we went on a boat tour where we had one of the local cocktails, a Port and Tonic. Everything about this tour was fantastic and I couldn t recommend it enough. Thank you, Daniel!!

Wonderful experience to participate the Douro valley winery trip. The tour is accompany with professional tour guide and wine expert. The visiting of independent winery and enjoy home cooked lunch is one of the highlights. The driving in the trail of vineyards provides unique view to the landscape.

The trip was like a dream. Douro valley was gorgeous even in December. Learning the science behind port wine opened our eyes to the laborious process. Our guide José is funny and knowledgeable. The other guests were a big plus. I highly recommend!

Our tour with Ricardo was absolutly perfect and exceeded all expectations. Stunning landscapes, exquisite wines paired with delicious traditional portuguese food and a great guide whom, by the end of our tour we considered a friend. Ricardo is a genuine, fun, friendly, and just as passionate about his job as he is knowledgeable about the region, its history and the wonderful wines we got to taste. It was by far the best day of our trip to portugal and we would definately recommend it (actually, its a must!).

We really enjoyed our tour of the Douro valley with Bruno and BL Heritage Tours. We liked that we got to tour smaller more local vineyards, instead of the large brands. it made it more unique and interesting. The boat tour also was nice since it was private with only our small group. We got a lot of information during our trip and had some great wine. The food during lunch was also fantastic! Highly recommend this tour!

If you are looking for a high quality, comfortable and amazing tour with a small group, look no more, you have to book this one! Firstly, The experience: Bruno(our guide) is super nice and humorous! He made the car ride from Porto to the valley super fun and seemed short, (he also prepared pestle de nata + offered espresso to us!) . The wineries that you will visit is also cool, you will learn everything about how to produce wine + Porto wine (be prepared to answer the questions lol). The boat ride was sensational, the view was beautiful, the cocktail, snacks were on point and the stories + knowledge + history shared by the humorous & passionate captain made the ride much different. Then you will end your tour by having a great lunch and more alcohol in a beautiful family winery with long history. Followed by a super nice walk guided by Bruno in the winery. Secondly, the team really went above and beyond, I d say this is my next Airbnb experience. They truly care about your well-being, they helped me to order taxies and always replied to all my questions in time. After they also gave me some super great tips & recommendations without me asking. Thank you again Bruno, Ricardo and the team!

My wife and I did the Wine Venture & Boat trip in Douro Valley with Ricardo and his company. First off, let me just say that Ricardo was just an overall great host and guide through our entire day. He is trained in hospitality skills and from morning to eve he did an excellent 10/10 job keeping our group engaged and helping us get to know each other so that we could enjoy the experience all together. The day was filled with some thoughtful surprises and both wineries we visited provided an excellent experience to our group. Also, the boat trip was fantastic and the guides Ricardo and his group use for the boat tour were a lot of fun and very hospitable as well. I would highly recommend Ricardo or any of the tour guides in his company for a great experience visiting Douro Valley! Thanks again Ricardo, and take care!

We did the douro wine tasting tour with Ricardo today. This was honestly the best tour I have ever been to, and I have been to many ! Everything about the day was just perfect. It was a birthday gift for my boyfriend and the family who hosted us for lunch even made him a cake! I can recommend this company for a 100%! Save, fun, only a very small group of people, so many beautiful views & of course looot s of food and wine!

The tour to the Douro Valley was magical, perfect and one of the highlights of my trip to Porto. Bruno, our guide, was so kind, considerate, and funny. A good man. Every single aspect of the trip felt personal and unique. The vineyards, the boat trip, and the meal were from families or small operators. Bruno and Ricardo DO IT RIGHT! They get it and they feel like extended family by the time you are done. The food and the wine were delicious and plentiful. The pace is great. The price is also good for all that you get. Trust me, you will be pleased and smiling and very full when you return. If I could give them 100 stars, I would!

The trip was just wonderful. My boyfriend and I had an amazing day, tasting (port) wines, olive oil and having an excellent lunch at one of the wineries. Bruno did everything to make this a perfect day for us! We got to know the Douro Valley, its history, flora and fauna, music, culture, and most importantly also the people. We visited great (and smaller, not touristy) wineries, had an amazing boat trip on the river (with the best cheese and pumpkin jam) and a lunch served by the family of one of the wineries which got beyond and above to make this an unforgettable experience. we did already several different trips and tours around the globe, yet this was without doubt one of the best we did to far. Can without any hesitation recommend this trip to everyone!

The best tour I have ever been on! We have done a bunch of tours and this one had been my favorite. They took us to 2 wineries not ones I knew either. Brunos first stop was coffee and then to the first winery we did a tour and the views and knowledge are amazing. The care and love of the land is very clear. During the tasting Bruno brought us pastel de nata to have with the last port wines. All the wines were delicious and thankfully they ship! The second stop was a smaller winery but they are amazing! We had lunch there and it was the best food we had the entire trip. The passion and love at the winery really showed. The last stop was a boat tour and again amazing food and wine! The places Bruno selects for the tours is done with care, and all the people are kind, love the land,and their jobs. I look forward to coming back with friends and family so they may enjoy this tour too. This is a must do!!

This tour was amazing. Even though it was a grey rainy day we had a brilliant time visiting the duoro valley and some of the vineyards there. Our group consisted of only 6 people so we had a really personal service throughout the day. The tour in a duoro vineyard was brilliant and the wines perfect. Then we went on a boat trip on the duoro and the people on the boat were great as was the port and nibbles. We then went onto an7 vineyard where we were treated to a beautiful lunch accompanied by a selection of wines and port. All in all it was one of those days that will stay in our memories for a very long time. Go on book it, you will have such a good day.

Fantastic day out in the Douro Valley. Ana was and excellent guide, very knowledgeable, relaxed and fun. Its my first time travelling on my own so this was a lovely day spent with strangers who soon became friends. Tastes, drank and bought many wines. The home cooked lunch at the wine yard was delicious. Such lovely touches to the day.

Cant recommend this tour enough. Bruno was a fabulous guide and the day was organised extremely well. We were picked up in a luxury minivan, then driven to the Douro valley. The tour started with a visited to a winery that still stomps grapes by foot, followed by a lovely boat tour, and then lunch and another tasting in a historic house! Everything was perfect!

We did the Douro Valley Tour on March 12, 2019 and loved every minute. Our guide was friendly, funny and informative. The river cruise, with our pirate captain, was amazing. All the food and wine we had that day beat any expectation we might have had. Well worth the 9 hours!
