This is a scam! They offer cheap prices just o charge you EXTRA at the counter. It’s just stealing tactics like “your card does not work, you will need to pay insurance”, to push us to “find another rental” if we don’t accept this scam! My friend decided to pay for the insurance, it was only a weekend, but then as soon as they deliver the car he took videos as pictures of everything, right in from of them, and imagine, after we deliver the car they wanted us to pay for a scratch on the wheels!! Not just the scratch was there when they delivered (we had pictures and videos), but on the spot my friend went and cleaned the scratch! It was not a scratch, it was just some dirt!! Please do look for reviews before choosing a rental in Portugal!
Car rental outside the airport. You have to wait at Gate 4 of the terminal to hope to see the Global car shuttle arrive. We waited 40 minutes for the shuttle. Be careful there is no indication at the airport while their call center explains that a person will be present to welcome us. Staff who should learn to be more warm and pleasant. Let's not forget that this is a service company. Be careful if you are more than 3 hours late your vehicle will no longer be available, they will provide you with the remaining vehicles which can cost you much more. The car we rent was great, like new and very clean.
Awesome service, kind staff and had no issues during my rental period. Got a Seat ibiza in stead of the listed peugeot 308. Nice car and 7000 km, so almost new. Only the pick-up speed could be improved (waited almost half an hour). Handing in the car was very quick! Their shuttle driver did not drive very safe, but I am sure it’s the same at all rental services.
FROUD!!!! AVOID THIS COMPANY!! Just charged me 250 euros for nothing (scratch that was exists 100%) without checking, 3 times the rent amount! The person on the counter told me that if im doing a video of the situation, he will take care to charge me 1800 euros, the entire deposit!! Do not rent in this company! The counter workers are bad people whose whole purpose is to collect fines from customers. I call on everyone who has been harmed by the company to respond here and open an investigation and a class action lawsuit. I was blackmailed and threatened in an extraordinary way. We were charged for 250 for an invisible scratch that it was clear that it wasnt me. I was told that they dont keep any record of the cars so that means that they can tell that and blame also the next driver.
I would give them zero stars if I could. Booking is super shady. You have the option to pay for full insurance coverage online and then when you get to the rental place they charge you again. They do not have a disclaimer saying that the insurance you paid online isn't with them, but with whatever website you used to book your car, like carjet for example. They are a scheme and I will never use them again.
Our experience did not start well. They do not have a booth like other rentals, and we had to ask 2 different information desks before we found a lady hiding in the corner of the airport, sat down, with a sign hidden under her arm. We then took their shuttle to the rental garage, where we had to wait 45 mins to get the keys as only 2 people were serving, and the report on the existing damage on the car did not mention the big dent in the rear bumper - remember to take your own photos. Also the qr code to leave reviews on the desk was for a different company. The car was nice and clean, and the returns process was simple and quick. Staff were friendly and helpful (once you found them).
They are out there to get you First, no communication whatsoever before getting the car. I made the reservation a few weeks before the trip, then realized that my email address had a typo in it. I went to their website and sent them an email at the address posted there several days before my departure. No response. Then I made numerous phone calls to their office number in Lisbon, during business hours. Nobody picked up the phone. Finally, I had to use the screenshot I took while making the reservation and took the airport shuttle to their off site office. Good thing they still had my reservation information. They told me that email wouldn't work because the reservation was handled by another company. Ok I got my car on the 23rd May. On May 25th I got an email back from a lady named V. Morais, stating that my ticket had been marked as resolved. Hmm, only 2 days after I picked up the car. Second, they nickel and dime you, and WILL try hard to get that. As usual I had declined to buy the collision waiver at the time of the pickup. Upon return after a 10-day trip, this gentleman with a sour mood looked around and around the car, then told me that the rear bumper had a new spot where the paint came off (picture attached). I was surprised to learn that, since I had been driving very carefully and everything had been perfect. Well, they decided to charge me €350 for that. I had been renting cars all over the place, in the US and in Europe. That's the first time a car rental company tried so hard to turn something like normal tear and wear into an income source. So folks, if you are ready to take a chance with them, be ready to fork out $ in the end.

La personne nest pas présente au lieu de rdv de laéroport.après plus dune heure dattente...pas de navette à minuit , personnel au téléphone très désagréable qui ne veut pas garder le véhicule pour le lendemain. Bref à fuir.
The first car that I picked up had a problem with the monitor and apple car play. I asked to change the car after one hour and they gave me another one without any waste of time. Very good service and I recommend without a doubt.

scammers. Read carefully all the 27 contract pages before getting a car with them cause they won t disclose basic information like via verde usage for example. And then they reply will be if you don t ask we don t provide any informations on how the rent works and which are Portugal road rules . Ich vergeben gesamt 3,5 Sterne. Der Mietpreis und Zusstand von Autos ist sehr gut es gibt aber viele Momente bei Check-In die den Mietpreis in die Höhe schiessen lassen, wenn man diese nicht kennt. Meine allgemeinde Empfehlung: 1. Vor der Anmietung langsam um das Auto gehen und ein Video machen, damit man in nachhinein keine Überraschungen bei der Rückgabe hat. Bei Schäden vergleichen mit dem Mietvetrag, ob diese dort bekannt sind (hier wichtig, Ihr bekommt den Mietvetrag nach der Unterschrift ohne vorherige Einsicht per Email zugesendet, deswegen prüft das Auto umbedingt auf Schäden und mit dem Vertrag vergleichen bevor Ihr losfahrt). 2. Prüfen, dass das FZG voll ist (Sprit) 3. KM Stand prüfen 4. ggf. Ihnenraum prüfen 5. Ihr müsst umbedingt eine gängige Kreditkarte mit PIN haben, ohne PIN werden Euch wieder zusätzliche Gebühren von der Firma belastet oder Ihr bekommt das FZG garnicht vermietet. meine Pros - alle FZG sind eher neu - die Miete bei Buchung über CHECK24 war sehr günstig 15 /Tag für Golfklasse in Juni 2023 - Rückgabe und Shuttle zum Flughafen waren schnell und unkompliziert meine Contras - Station nicht am Flughafen, also evtl. schwer zu finden. Ich habe Uber genutzt um dahin zu kommen. - Bei Anmietung wird man versuchen Euch verschidenen Sachen zu verkaufen, die Ihr nicht benötigt. In meine Fall war es: 1. Gebühr für die Rückgabe ohne zu Tanken ca. 95 . Ich habe Full to Full gebucht. Heisst ich bekommen das FZG Voll und bringe es Voll zurück. Eine Tanke ist in der Nähe. Wenn man diese Gebühr nimmt, zahlt man viel mehr als wenn man selbst tanken würde. 2. Versicherung damit ich keine Selbstbeteilung habe, obwohl ich über CHECK24 schon so eine Versicherung abgeschlossen habe. 3. Teureres Upgrade. Ich hatte Golfklasse gebucht 15 /Tag und sollte 25 /Tag extra zahlen für 1-er BMW. Steht in keinem Verhältniss. 4. Am Ende hat man aber mir trotzdem 18,50 für das elektronische Mautgerät abgezockt, obwohl es normalerweise bei dem Fahrzeug im Mietpreis schon dabei sein sollte, wenn es ab März oder Mai in Portugal vorgeschrieben ist. FAZIT: man kann hier günstig ein FZG mieten, wenn mann weiss auf was man achten soll und sich den ganzen Unsinn von eher gelangweilten und nicht umbedingt freundlichen Mitarbeitern am Check-In nicht andrehen lässt.

Clean and modern building, less than 10 minutes wait on a Friday afternoon, clean and new cars, no annoying upsell techniques or pressure to purchase add ons. Easy return and really nice service. Never renting from anyone else again.

Empresa age com má indole. Inicialmente tentaram nos vender o mesmo seguro que já tínhamos contratado on-line. Na devolução nos cobraram 150 euros por arranhões na roda que já estavam desde a retirada do carro mas foi a nossa palavra contra a deles. Além de serem mal caráter, demoramos 90 min para sermos atendidos. Nunca tive uma experiência tão ruim em qualquer outra empresa de aluguel de carro.
Abholung vom Flughafen funktioniere problemlos. Am Treffpunkt wartete ein Mann, der das Shuttle rief. Dieses war nach ca 10 Minuten da. Auto war sehr sauber & relativ neu. Bei der Rückgabe hatten wir keine Probleme. Nach ca 10 Minuten brachte uns das Shuttle zurück zum Flughafen.
Je suis très contente avec cette agence lannée dernière jai loué Une Opel moka et comme Les balises ne rentrent dans le coffre ils ont changé pour un Peugeot 3008 pour le même prix. Jai fait une assurance casco complet et la seule chose que jai payé cest les péages avec la carte de crédit. La caution de 300 pour le plein dessence ma été remboursée deux jours après. Rien a dire super content. Merci

They scammed us by claiming we damaged the car on our return but we didnt. We told them to look on the system as the woman who checked us in when we first recieved the car had all the cuff marks and damages listed out on the paper and system. They claimed there was nothing on the system which was a complete lie. Avoid this company as they scam people and are very arrogant.
We arrived with two small children. After we booked the car online with American Express, we couldn t pay at the desk with American express anymore. They also didn t accept the 2 other credit cards we had.. unless we would pay an extra fee of 120 I couldn t believe how rude and unfriendly and not willing to help they where. It felt like a total scam and I didn t want to go along with this. I canceled the booking at the spot and took an Uber with the kids. This is how frustrated and disappointed we where.
Very positive experience despite Chase rewards getting reservation wrong (not on site and not Hertz/Thrifty!). Although Chase misdirected us, Global were actually waiting for us and provided VIP experience from beginning to end. They were helpful, professional and went over very nice car, explaining about tolls, etc. For insurance, check with your credit card company and get a letter if you have any questions about whats covered.

Me surpreendeu, não me empurraram seguros que eu não queria. Peguei o carro que eu tinha reservado. (deveria ser padrão mas que loca carro sabe que não é). Retirei o carro em poucos minutos. Na devolução nova surpresa agradável. Devolvi em menos de 10 minutos. Estacionei dera uma volta ao redor do carro procurando arranhões ou amassados chegaram a kilometragem e o tanque e era isso. Simples, rápido e eficiente! Adorei. SUPER RECOMENDO! Só espero que esse seja o padrão da Global!
SCAM ALERT - DONT BOOK HERE! As pointed out by many other customers, they do the classical credit card not working scam, forcing you to buy the full insurance. I ended up paying almost double my rental. Fun fact: the payment terminal was failing with the credit card with a weird error never seen before which I am sure is triggered by them on purpose, then when switching to the debit card, the first attempt failed as well, with the rental guy saying oh no I did something wrong here, my bad, try again and I am sure will work sure, he forgot to turn off the failing setting ;) To be honest I will also mention the good points: - Very good car - Good shuttle service (at least on the way back to the airport, didnt use the other way around as I was already in Lisboa). In short: very scammy practices that let you book at a cheaper price than competitors online but end up paying more on site because of the extra insurance. Make yourself and others a favour and let this place go bankrupt as soon as possible. I am going to give them bad reviews in every rental car search engine possible, this is very bad. And an advice: next time go to Gold car in the airport itself, prices might look higher online, but they dont force you buying stuff with scammy practices, cars are good as well and they are right inside the airport.

Very bad experience renting a car, booked a car with carjet for 57 a day, when arrived at location customer service was okay however the lady tells me that I need to pay 82 extra for the insurance to avoid the hold of 1600 . Spent an hour trying to explain that in my rental agreement it says that I need to pay extra 25 for the insurance to avoid hold of 1600 . Clearly broker and supplier has very poor communication. Lady was nice but not helpful at all, have not rented the car from them and do not recommend.

Everything perfect from start to finish. We booked through carjet.de. Virtually new Fiat 500, problem-free collection, problem-free return. Station near the airport, everything super clean. Staff friendly. Free shuttle to the airport upon drop-off. Any time.

Long wait times, under staffed. They want to charge you $50 euro for priority service at the kiosk. Resever at the airport terminal instead and pick a different company.
They make you responsible for damage that you didn t do. And besides that, they invent prices for the damage. A scratch was 100, but MAYBE there was a little damage, so we make it 200. What kind of handling is that?
Booked by mistake through a broker (thought Id booked a different company) but turned out to be an excellent choice. Quick 5 minute shuttle from the airport, very friendly service and car in mint condition, no problems at all, recommended!

ATTENTION arnaque CB débit/crédit !!! Lagence nest pas du tout à côté de laéroport, les navettes sont aléatoires et ils pratiquent la fameuse arnaque à la carte de débit/crédit... Si vous avez une carte de débit, comme une majorité de personnes, vous allez devoir payer environ 35% de plus votre location. Pour ma part jai pu lannuler au dernier moment sur place via le site de réservation de la voiture et prendre une nouvelle location non seulement dans laéroport, mais surtout avec ma carte débit sans souci et cerise sur le gâteau 30% moins cher ! Comparez bien les agences et surtout ne prenez pas celle-ci. Bon voyage

Impossible to find their office at the airport. After beeing sent to all places, there was a little women sitting on a bench with a little label global car renta. The instructions where not clear on the rental voucher. I called them 20x no one picket up the phone. Also they communicated the car delivery was at the airport which was NOT the case, we could have missed our flights... then they dropped us at the wrong terminal....
Worst experience ever. We are still in Portugal and have issues with our car, which have to get back in two days. we can t due to the problems though! Ever since 10 days we are trying to reach out to them! Only twice (out of 14 times) did they pick up the phone only to tell us to send an Email which the will send us the adress by text message. No text message ever arrived! Luckily I could mesmerise the adress when they said it the second time and we realized it was the same as the one on their website, to which we sent 3 emails already! All of them were not delivered because the mailbox of the recipient is full! We immediatly called global rent a car again but only 2 minutes after our phone call they would not pick up the phone anymore!!! We really don t know what to do as we are leaving the day after tomorrow and we can t reach them and lost so much of our precious vacation-time trying to contact them and finding a solution!!! Don t EVER rent a car here!!!
Grosse arnaque. Nous nous sommes aussi fait piéger avec cette soit disant carte crédit/ débit... Nous avons du payer presque 250 euros sur place .. Nous avons pas eu le choix daccepter vu quune navette nous avait emmené dans Lisbonne même. En dehors de laéroport.. (dailleurs navette que nous avons du attendre pendant presque 45 minutes ...avec un bébé de 7 mois). Donc déjà on nous fait payer cette soit disant assurance car pas de carte de crédit. Qui je le rappelle. nest informé nul part avant la réservation. Seulement une fois la réservation faite dans les conditions générales de ventes . Jai refait une réservation pour vérifier leur soit disant conditions de ventes De plus javais un badge telepage que je pouvais utiliser au Portugal. Mais ils nont rien voulu savoir . Jai du repayer leur telepeage .. 18 euros Parfois vaut mieux payer 50 euros de plus mais ne pas avoir de surprise sur place !! A fuir...
Dear Global Rent a Car, Thank you for responding on my review. But you clearly do not see the feedback or understood what I was saying. Yes I received information on where the pickup spot was. But your information is SO NOT clear! I was not the only one who could not find the spot.... There is NO sign.... How can I find a lady sitting somewhere on a couch with as little logo of 3 cm by 5 cm with the logo Global Rent a Car... Also you guys use GRC as shortage of the name Global Rent a Car... How to find you! Than I tried to call you at least 20 times, at my arriving and a my return. Never the phone was picked up. On your vouches its said to return the car at the same point as the meeting point; Vodafone... the address was no were, I needed to google it to find the place to return the car. On top of that the transfer service to the airport brought us to the wrong terminal! Seriously!!? You are going to argue with my really bad experience with Global Rent a Car?
Awful experience with customer service. The agents did not know the different between Apple Card (an actual physical credit card) and Apple Pay, and they kept calling it a virtual card (it isn t). Trying to explain this to them fell in deaf ears and there was an overall unwillingness to help and understand. We had to pay an additional 60 to add a driver that had no intention of driving to use a different card, all because of the agents ineptitude.

Truly loved the experience. Got shuttled from the airport as planned wasgiven a better car then what was paid and had literally no hassle. I was expecting to have some hidden expenses to deal with in person but to a lovely surprise it was really straightforward. Even the return was so easy. I 100% recommend and honestly I would definitely rent from you again. It allowed me to go see sights in Portugal that I would have missed if I had used the busses and trains. Thank you very much!
Compagnia di noleggio tra le più economiche e assolutamente seria. Auto noleggiata con servizio navetta dallaeroporto, 10 minuti per la consegna, servizio Via Verde incluso comodissimo che evita ogni problematica di pedaggi sulle autostrade portoghesi. Auto in perfetta condizioni, dotata di un sacco di optional, nuova, pulitissima dentro e fuori.
ottimo servizio, auto nuove, chiari nella comunicazione. Lautonoleggio non si trova esattamente in aereoporto e le navette passano ogni 20 minuti (io ho aspettato circa 20 minuti prima che arrivasse), però per il prezzo competitivo si può accettare. Unica pecca la reperibilità delloperatore: allaereoporto non è presente un desk, quindi risulta complicato andare a trovare una persona con una t shirt con il logo. Consiglio qualcosa di più appariscente per farsi trovare dai cliente. per il resto ok
Wie bei wohl allen Mietwagenanbietern wollen sie einem eine zusätzliche Rundum-Sorglos-Police andrehen. Das Gerät für die automatische Maut-Abbuchung halte ich für sinnvoll. Ansonsten hat alles reibungslos funktioniert.

Wir haben über Check24 einen VW Polo (relativ neu, noch keine 5.000 km) gebucht. Für sieben Tage (Ende September - Anfang Oktober) haben wir knapp 195 Euro bezahlt - das war dann schon der Tarif ohne Selbstbeteiligung. Da wir zum Glück keinen Unfall hatten kann ich zum Verhalten im Schadensfall nichts sagen. Wenn man mit dem Auto auf die Autobahn will muss das Mautgerät freigeschaltet werden. Das kostet nochmal 20 Euro. Das Abholen des Autos hat ungefähr 30 Minuten gedauert, das Abgeben ging super schnell (ca. 10 Minuten) und dann wurden wir auch zeitnah zum Flughafen gebracht. Das Personal war gelangweilt bis freundlich aber wegen fröhlicher Leute geht man ja nicht zum Auto leihen, insofern kann ich diese Firma auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

Wir hatten in Lissabon etwas länger den Abhohlort gesucht. Eventuell sollte man besser beschreiben wo der Treffpunkt ist. Aber danach war alles gut. Abgabe hat auch sehr gut geklappt. Personal war freundlich. Gerne wieder.
Haben für 2 Wochen gemietet. Auto war gut und fast neu. Bei Ausgabe hat man versucht uns eine Versicherung zusätzlich zu verkaufen, die schon inkludiert waren und auf der Rechnung standen ebenfalls Punkte, die wir nicht wollten. (Daher nur 4 Sterne) Hier bitte aufpassen. Rückgabe war absolut unkompliziert und freudlich. Das beste war der nette Fahrer zurück zum Flughafen. Großes professionelles Unternehmen.
Abbiamo noleggiato una piccola utilitaria per 5 giorni. Auto confortevole, già con il pieno di benzina e ben pulita. Consigliamo di fare in loco lassicurazione completa (noi abbiamo speso 128 euro). Necessaria carta di credito (se vi dotate dell assicurazione completa vi fermano solo 300 euro dalla carta). Servizio navetta gratuito fino allaereoporto

Avoid Krakow branch!!!!!!!!!! They charged my credit card 1.5week after I have returned the car, without any communication or warning! Certainly without my authorization! When I called them today, they advised me to ring their branch in Warsaw trying to simply end the conversation and avoid answering questions. Jakub, who refused to give me his full name finally told me that there was an animal transported in the car! Therefore they charged me £96.11. Scam!!!!!!
Pontuação neutro porquê?! Online reservei e paguei para um BMW. Muito confuso essa empresa! Quando cheguei ao aeroporto, foi bastante difícil encontrar essa empresa. Visto que eu pedi para ter o carro no aeroporto e não foi entregue no aeroporto. Fiquei cerca de 40 minutos a procura deles (GRC) , com um bebê recém nascido e uma criança de 3 anos sem contar com a bagagem. Afinal ninguém soube explicar que eu teria uma pessoa a minha espera com uma placa com o meu nome. Essa empresa de aluguel de carros fica fora do aeroporto cerca de 10 minutos. A empresa disponibiliza transporte do aeroporto até ao local de atendimento ao cliente. Ao chegar no estabelecimento fomos muito bem recebidos e atendidos, o grande problema foi que não recebi o BMW e tão pouco um carro similar. O que me deram foi um Peugeot que não tem nada de similar ao BMW. On-line o Peugeot era a metade do que o BMW, por isso não fiquei nada satisfeita para além de que On-line paguei para alugar o carro e quando cheguei tive de pagar quase o mesmo montante. O senhor disse que o que eu paguei On-line foi apenas para a reserva do veículo. Aceitei o veículo e paguei somente porque as crianças estavam cansadas e já era noite. Outra situação também é a seguinte se não tiver cartão de crédito você terá de pagar na hora com o cartão de débito uma caução ( 300 - 400) entre esses valores. Tirando isso o atendimento foi ótimo e rápido.

Rented several times without their insurance offer with no problems. Cars are great, nice toilets, and no nit-picking for scratches on return. 4-stars because sometimes theyre a little slow in processing pick-ups and returns, and the deposits are huge (1,200 eur to 2,000 eur - pretty standard for Lisbon, but still).

Normalment sempre hi ha algun problema amb les companyies de lloguer de cotxes, però no en aquest cas. Tant el servei, que ha estat ràpid i molt professional, com el cotxe han sigut fantàstics.
We booked on Autos Holidays for a low price. Our flight was delayed and we had a long line at customs so we got there about 2 hours late then waited for a shuttle to take us to the rental agency which not located directly at the airport. **From finding the agent, taking the shuttle and waiting in line at the rental agency it was another hour. **We had left a two hour window from when the flight should have arrived to our rental pickup but were still overdue. *We were told by the rental agent* they only allow for a 15 minutes delay before they rent it to someone else. Even though the car was booked and fully paid in advance. Because of that they charged us an upgrade that basically tripled the price. I would never recommend that company again.
Wir haben insgesamt 3 Stunden auf unser Auto gewartet obwohl Global unsere Flugnummer hatte. Wir durften am Flughafen erst verspätet mit dem Shuttle zum Büro fahren und dort mussten wir nochmals 2,5 Stunden in der Schlange warten. Da hat unsere Urlaubsstimmung gleich getrübt. Das Auto war super.
I booked the car via booking.com a few days ago. The booking confirmation was yesterday evening still pending. Today morning we wanted to pick-up the car, finally the booking was canceled! Unbelievable! We had to book somewhere else now for a significant higher price, because our possibilities were limited. Never again!
I booked a Peugeot 208 and received a fiat panda (lisbon). I didnt take an extra insurance since we use the car to drive to our vacation house with private parking space at the country side, so no risk for damage by others. No one joined us to check the car on delivery, no documents with a damage report , they told us that it was kept electronicaly ( never received a mail wih it). When i delivered the car, the employee went around the car and checked the bottom (normal damage area), at the end he looked at the roof and big surprise, by coincidence (??!) there was a small bump on the spot he started looking. No paint damage and only visable from a certain angle, no normal person would detect it. Im sure it was there before, could be that it was not detected on a previews rent but i still wonder why he started looking at the roof on this particular spot. Be warned, also check the roof from different angles to avoid surprises ( White fiat panda). At the end we were immediately charged for 250 , i also wonder how he could define the damage so fast. I didnt receive any damage report or document. So i realy have doubts regarding the company. Best regards, paul Belgium

A rental agency to avoid because it openly steals from its customers, under the pretext that you have to pay 180 euros for a debit card to be accepted... a shame! ZERO star rating.
Had the same experience like Paul (see bad reviews). They gave me this white fiat panda (so I believe it is exactly the same that they gave Paul). I checkt everything at the pickup very carefully - but I had to ask the lady if anyone will come out check with me. They would have let driven me without any check. so I also checkt the roof. And the light is different because the place for Pickup and dropoff are different and I didn t see something at the roof (these bump I describe later, was only seen in special light - I believe it was already there). So the man at dropoff checked everythink and I didn t really see, that he really carefully checked the roof - so he knew somehow exactly where to look at - and then he came to me and ask me - - if I saw this bump at the front roof. So the light there at dropoff is different. So I saw a little bump and they made me then pay (he just was showing me the card maschine andt told me after 2 Minutes that it will be 400 Euros). So I told him I need to call my insurance - during that time they already took it to the carwash, so it was not possible to take good pictures, where you could see the bump. It was really disrespectfull & they didn t really communicate with me as I ask him to give me an extra englisch invoice and confirmation for the damage & payment. I really do not recommend. So take care if you get a white fiat panda and take a look for small bumps at the roof. Seems like, they don t really track the history of the car. I felt scamed. (I picked the car up for 13 days (1st october) - so Pauls review is exactly 2 weeks ago - seems to be the exact same car.)
Ho dato una stella perché non potevo darne 0, la maleducazione è di casa in questo posto. Per essere precisi allarrivo abbiamo incontrato due operatori molto gentili ed educati ,invece , alla partenza due incompetenti con tanta voglia di truffarmi. Presso il garage di consegna dellauto cera una ragazza alla quale dovevo pagare 39 extra per le autostrade portoghesi le ho consegnato la mia carta che purtroppo non era funzionante quindi le ho dato 50 contanti e lei non aveva il resto, quindi ha pensato bene di dirmi che non si poteva fare niente e che dovevo lasciare il resto per lei una persona totalmente fuori di testa. Riprendo i miei soldi e cambio operatore, nello stesso istante arriva la notifica di prelievo da parte del rent di 39 dalla mia carta senza che io avessi dato il permesso alla transazione. Evitatelo come la peste!
About the worst customer service. Once you pay, youre on your own. I tried sending 3 email in 2 days and over 10 phone calls, ABSOLUTELY ZERO answers back. No way to reach them. No customer service whatsoever, not even poor or rude just no infrastructure and system to answer your concerns or calls. Your.on.your.own.

Picking up the car took nearly 2 hours. Since their office is a couple of kilometers from the airport they offer a shuttle service. The Meeting point next to the Vodafone shop is nothing more than an employee with a clipboard. We waited for about half an hour for the shuttle bus and it only had place for one so after picking up the car I had to drive back to the airport to pick up my girlfriend. At their office car pickups took about half an hour per car. Even with four employees handling the queue I had to wait for more than an hour for my turn. Instead of the requested VW Golf I received a Peugeot 2008. From the comments of other customers I had the impression that nobody got the car they actually booked. We also missed some important information. During the pickup we booked the extra service they offer for the device to automatically pay toll on the highways. They neglected to offer basic information such as which signs to follow. Tip stay on the lanes with the Green V. Especially on the Ponte 25 de Abril in Lisbon. If you take the wrong lane there you have to pay in the Via Verde office which is only reachable on the way out of Lisbon. Dropping the car off was a better experience. We were the only ones there at the time and the shuttle was ready and waiting. All in all we are unlikely to book a car through Global Rent-a-Car again. Other rental companies might be slightly more expensive but during a vacation wasting this much time to pick up a car is not worth the few euros saved.

Larnaque de la carte debit/ crédit. Alors que j ai loué sans aucun soucis en Thailand, Russie, Italie, USA, Mexique.... Ici on se retrouve bloqué face à cette arnaque qui consiste à ajouter 160euros pour une sombre histoire dassurance. Et si on ose demander des explications, nous sommes à la limite de linsolence. Le client nest pas Roi la bas, mais pompe à fric.
Terrible experience. Will refuse your bank card on arrival and force you to pay super expensive insurance coverage, typical car rental scam. Arrogant employee told us that if we don t like it we can walk away. Avoid this rental.
Könnte ich weniger Sterne geben, würde ich es machen! Global Rent hatte unsere Flugnummer und wusste, wann wir landen. Haben über 1,5h auf unseren Transport vom Flughafen zum Autovermieter gewartet. Dort haben wir dann erneut 30 Minuten gewartet, bis wir dran kamen! Sehr unfreundlich, ich würde hier kein AUTO MIETEN!!!
Company representative supposed to meet me at the airport at the meeting point. No one was there. I called the contact number 11 times with no response. I lost about half an hour at the airport. As a result I had to get Uber to get to the company office. Will never use this car hire company again.

Front desk was helpful and efficient. There is a large holding deposit (1200 euro) but they cancelled it immediately upon return. Other things to note- 2euro/day for automatic toll device (use the green check mark lanes); 50euro flat fee to drive into Spain; no automatic cars other than SUVs. If you do go to Spain, buy gas there as it is much cheaper
Horrible experience from the beginning. We were two families with two small children. We had ordered child seats, but they didnt have them prepared in the shuttle and were very surprised that we didnt have our own.. so we had to wait for the shuttle to go back again with the seats. They didnt even install them, just put them on car seats. When we arrived the guy said our credit card doesnt work (our bank said everything was alright, never had a problem a and we paid something with the card that very day). He declined using contactless payment. He forced us to pay the full insurance because we ended up paying with debit. If we didnt have a small kid with us we would definitely walked away from this scam format. We had everything prepared, credit card was completely ok and yet we were ripped off because they were not willing to try once more and offered to try a different company. Terrible experience, do not come in here. In the end they refused to install a car children seat in to the car. Very unprofessional approach. After three days of driving the car broke down and didnt start. Called the company, told me I had to call assistance. They told us they would give us a ride back to Lisabon (40 mins) to pick up a new car. I asked them if they could first drive me and my 2y son to our house (5min) and then to take my husband to Lisabon. They said it wasnt possible. We had to choose one way only and if we preferred to go home we should go to Lisabon the next day. On our expenses of course. Luckily the car maybe heard my despair and after one hour on phone calls started. We cancelled the taxi and the rental car guy told us we couldnt change things in the middle. Seriously, there is zero compassion. No one was at least sorry for our situation. Great holiday from this company. Edit after answer from the company - 1) we did put the right flight number in reservation (see the screenshot) 2) nope, it wasnt 15 minutes, see the screenshot from my call log that evening with the customer service. 3) I really didnt ask for a better car. I rather had a properly working car, honestly. 4) we called our bank at the spot. They said there wasnt even a request for the money. Our card worked so far in many countries in the world. Even in Portugal, just not in this car rental. Maybe you guys should check your terminals I understand mistakes are made, but please do not lie to us..
Extremely arrogant staff. Typical scam and fraud, they force you to buy full coverage insurance. Otherwise you get no car. Absolutely unhelpful with extras (like broken car or childseat). Worst car rental experience ever. Avoid this company. EDIT after answer from the company: I would agree with you, if that were the cases. I agree that insurance is not mandatory, I accept that fixing childseat is my responsibility in the end, I accept that roadside assistance is not your business. I have confirmation from the bank that my credit card was ok and did fulfil the T&C. But whatever, your terminal somehow refuses it and attitude of your employee I am the king here I dont care is the case. The same with the childseat. Then the car was broken. It really was not that easy to restart the car to solve it. Fortunately for us after an hour it launched again. You can think what you want, you werent there. But whatever, refusing (from your agent) to make a 5min detour (while going to Lisbon to your agency) with our little son to get him home is the case.

They tried the classic scam... booking and insurance made via a 3rd party. So, all of a sudden the payment terminal, to block the deposit on the credit card, wasnt working. We could buy the insurance + 300 nonrefundable block via a debit card... And they can just very arrogantly hide after their rules. We left the premises and were more than happily served by a competitor.
