Proceed with EXTREME CAUTION! We worked with this company consistently for a few years and this year we had the following problems: 1. Guided Portugal subcontracts other local drivers whose cars and level of professionalism vary greatly which is a huge problem. We are a US-owned and operated travel company with very high standards. Our clients expect clean modern Mercedes or Audi Sedans with professional English-speaking drivers who wear suits. This is what Guided Portugal promised us initially and this is what we sell to our clients. (Even our US-based client contracts include this detail which means that we have to deliver exactly what we sell.) The drivers that Guided Portugal subcontract do not always meet these expectations. A recent problem that we had was a driver was assigned who did not have a Mercedes or Audi. He also promoted his on business in front of our clients. We brought this issue to Guided Portugal's attention, but instead of fixing the problem, they responded by not working with us anymore! No accountability, no professionalism, no acknowledgement of the problem. It took us about 5 weeks to get the owner to finally respond which he said: "Em relação aos vossos serviços, foram-nos apresentadas em praticamente todos as mais diversas reclamações, que após análise concluí que estiveram relacionadas com serviços efetuados por parceiros nossos, devido à nossa elevada taxa de ocupação." 2. Guided Portugal recently CANCELLED a CONFIRMED SERVICE without informing us. This is a huge, huge "no no" in the tourism industry. We had a minibus reserved for a multi-day program in Northern Portugal which they cancelled without telling us. We found out when one of our team members emailed to re-confirm and add more services. We're certain that this cancellation is directly linked to the issues described above. We requested a Zoom meeting with the CEO and nothing. I personally tried to reach him via e-mail and WhatsApp and nothing. Finally, (5 weeks later) he responded by saying: "Sobre o serviço para o qual a COLEGA deu (indevidamente) disponibilidade para o autocarro de 30 lugares, o mesmo já se encontrava ocupado, razão pela qual posteriormente a COLEGA deu conta da nossa indisponibilidade para assegurar a realização do serviço." TAKEAWAY: Obviously we will not be working with this company any longer. If you decide to do so, proceed with extreme caution. If you need a specific type of service that's considered upscale, professional, and consistent (especially for the US or UK markets), save yourself the time and headache and look for other options. Guided Portugal is not prepared to provide this type of service.
